BoryaTheSlayer
BYOND Key: BoryaTheSlayer Character Names: It's. It's a big list. Spoiler Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Weirdo Orange(RGB: 131, 41, 11) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yezzz. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I didn't expect to be doing this app so early, but here I am, also writing it the second time. Anyways, Vaurca are really alien and have many interesting themes that I'd like to explore, as well as having some good-written lore. The challenge for me rises from the eusocial-ness of vaurcae, as I often make individualistic characters and focus on the individual, but I'm up to the challenge. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Vaurcae have a phoron-based biochemistry, something that differs them greatly on a biological level from humans(aside from their insectoid appearance lol). Because of that, they mostly eat k'ois. Vaurcese society is eusocial, and are essentially biologically inclined to serve their hive/brood. Their caste-based society, the relations between the hives, the ability to play what amounts to a drone(the bounds), and the dynamic between the bounds and the unbounds. All these things are very different from humans and all contribute to the alienness of Vaurcae. Character Name: Za'Akaix'Caduz Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character: Spoiler Having hatched shortly after the Vaurcae made first contact with the humanity, Caduz was born between two eras. This fact has shaped Caduz into what she is now. Birthed by Athvur'zekt'azi, Caduz was predestined to work with the alien species that have been encountered so recently in order for the relationship between the Vaurcae and the rest of the galactic civilization to prosper. The surrogate breeder in charge of Caduz's development took great care of her, despite Caduz being a rather unusual project for this time. Upon the installation of the neural socket, she has entered VR-- a new and a bold design that would be a defining feature of Athvur's brood. Caduz experienced the VR from a human's perspective. The purpose of the VR was to teach Caduz how to interact with humans and some other aliens that have already been encountered, the basics of these species' biology. Thus, Caduz has spent months studying the aliens' biology by treating their wounds. Caduz's role in this virtual world was that of a first responder. The world itself was the Vaurcese image of Luthien. They had not been to the planet yet by that point, but what they heard of the planet from the Tau Ceti officials that have contacted the Vaurcae, reminded them of their home, Sedantis I. The scenario that Caduz most often went through in VR is that of a hunt for a dangerous creature, which was inspired by the K'yi Yol'ax. Caduz had to go through many attempts to achieve an absolute victory-- no deaths on the hunting party's side and with the vile creature slain. This final, victorious attempt was reached by Caduz around the time when it was finally her time to go out and finally serve the purpose she was made for. Having joined the IAC during their efforts of moving Vaurca to Luthien and Caprice back in 2459(where she discovered what Luthien was really like, as well as having noticed that she had many misconceptions about the humans and the other aliens), Caduz has spent more than two years with the volunteers, interacting with many different peoples and primarily serving as the security force for the IAC, as well as performing basic medical duties. But now she has come back to Tau Ceti and left the IAC per the Queen's order, in order to help the many suffering Vaurca in District 9 of Mendell City. But, of course, Caduz's training couldn't be wasted-- and as such, Caduz has sought employment with NanoTrasen. She spends her work hours on the Aurora, interacting with the aliens and helping the fellow Vaurca out in matters of diplomacy and all things regarding communication with the other species, and her free hours in District 9, helping out her fellow sisters in this problematic little area that is now their home in this alien world. What do you like about this character? I really like how I play around the fact of Caduz's birth around the time of the first contact and her belonging to Athvur's brood. It creates a really unique perspective-- a bug that had initially no idea how humans really are that is forced to study them and work with them based on initial, often-times misplaced impressions. It's not a "I'm basically a human lol" bug, but one that thinks they fit in--but actually don't. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm an epic gamer so i'd say 7/10 Notes: Yee-haw. Wigglesworth Jones
Good character background, just want to ask some questions. What job are they going to be in? What is their opinion of the other hives? What vaurca religion do they follow? Link to comment

With the avowal, paramedic. 2) Well, Caduz hasn't really interacted with other departments much as she has spent much of her time in human space. She has no reason to hate either C'thur or K'lax, but would probably favor the K'lax over C'thur. 3)The hive pantheon. I read the religion page briefly but frankly, it's not what interests me in Vaurca RP. Link to comment
Roostercat
Borya is a good gamer roleplayer from what I have seen, and the app itself shows a good demonstration on Vaurca lore. So I think this character would be played very well. BUT... Time for the part where I ask you questions that you probably forgot the relevant lore about and now have to look it up. 1) What does Caduz think about the TCFL? 2) How does being a Warrior mesh with the job of a Paramedic? Would it change how she goes about it? 3) What is Caduz's outlook on Tau Ceti? Link to comment
BoryaTheSlayer
I know all. Do not test me, mortal. 1) Caduz might join the TCFL in the future, if that would correlate with the Queen's will. She might not have a very constructive opinion on the TCFL per say, but she likes it simply because of Athvur's involvement in revitalization of the TCFL. 2)A warrior would be more fit for rescue in EVA, where xenofauna could be hiding in a corner to come out and eat you. I also think that a Warrior's mindset is more fit for someone working as a paramedic. As well as their physical capabilities that makes them more fit for first response. 3) Tau Ceti, specifically Biesel, is Caduz's new home. It is still all so alien to her, but she tries to fit in, and, because of her training and experiences, she likes it. She, of course, hates the violence in the direction of her people that occurs every so often in District 9, but she retains a positive outlook regardless. Link to comment
Cnaym
Based gamer, but you are out of character slots. Also not sure how exactly you want to make a waifu out of that, but I think you are already working on the challenge Now for some real feedback. You are the #2 person I hit up with lore questions since you tend to know most, if not all, or who to ask for. You also have the ability to explain it to a dense person like me... which sometimes takes a lot of effort on your end and I really appreciate it. That said you even do so on a larger scale through events, either planing or helping... I don't see any reason why you would not be able to portray a really good vaurca. On to my only question though: Will it be a realistic alien creature, or just another bug that does goofy stuff and acts like an idiot about it? YOU KNOW WHAT TO ANSWER HERE! All in all a +1, hope to valid RP with your bug soon. Link to comment
BoryaTheSlayer
Thankzzz zzzir. Also there's no time to meme in medical especially with brainmed coming up oh my god help so... Memes aside, I like doing some silly shit once in a while, but I never let it be the focus. Link to comment
Bear
A true gamer through and through. An easy +1 Im not exactly sure how I will handle the premiere waifu main going to bugs but we will have to cope. Caduz seems interesting. Look forward to seeing them! Link to comment
VVipEdout
While more than enough was said about Borya's roleplaying skill, which I fully agree with, the most important part is whether they understand the species' lore or not; to me, the application definitely shows that they've read over the concepts involved in detail. An easy +1, though a few questions jumped out at me while reading it. 1) How did Caduz's experience in the IAC affect her? Having most of her life outside VR involve working with the volunteers, potentially very far away, makes this a character with a very particular take on Vaurca socialisation, this going even further considering she is a Za of the most xenophilic brood by far. 2) Touching again on Athvur's brood, how does Caduz express herself? A clearer modulator, wearing human (or human-inspired) clothes, or even a simple IAC armband gives a far different image than zzzvheacking like zzzizz and walking around in nothing but a blinder and your carapace. 3) With 30 slots full, who's leaving? They're all good waifus, and we'll miss them. ? Link to comment
BoryaTheSlayer
Thank you Pan ? 1) The idea is that Caduz has obtained a lot of social experience during her time with the IAC and has experienced various human cultures, and experienced a lot of xenophobia directed at her, especially out in the Serene Republic of Elyra. Of course, having experienced virtual reality in a human's body(although a reality that was based on many assumptions), it was rather confusing to her, but she has learned to live with it. But, of course, as a Za, she wouldn't let harm come to the fellow bugz and protect them, be it through treating them as a medical professional should or having to protect them in a fight. Obviously I don't look for the latter situations and I will try to avoid being overtly aggressive/defensive. 2)I... was considering all three at once, actually. I'll probably still replace all the 's with 'z, but otherwise, Caduz will be pretty easy to understand. I might even do a custom item for some kind of human-inspired clothing for her in the future, and, of course, the armband will be there for sure. 3) Spoiler find out icly Link to comment
NewOriginalSchwann
All my questions have been answered so far, which only leaves the question of how Borya is going to make a waifu out of a seven foot tall insectoid creature. +1 RKG (Real Kool Gamer) Link to comment

Seeli
Good answers! & Caduz seems like an interesting, and somewhat socially awkward, bug. From what I've seen of Borya's IC interactions, their roleplay and characters are great, so it would be fun to see Caduz on station. +1 Link to comment
JamOfBoy
Lots of good feedback and we discussed the app in DMs. Good demonstration of knowledge and I'm sure you'll ask and fill in the gaps yourself. Application accepted. Link to comment
