TealPinniped
BYOND key:Tealseal14Character names: Henry Melpede, George Lebedev, Arthur Huang How long have you been playing on Aurora?:Around a year and possibly a month or two more. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'm actually trying to branch out and I feel like I have to perfect character to do that. Why did you come to Aurora?: When I first started ss13 I got really into the HRP side of it and I've never left it since Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Indeed I did, I read the wiki quite a bit in my free time. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Two; one that's expired due to poor antag play, which I never had problem with later on, and the other one due to my naming system that I kept forgetting didn't go with the rules of the servers, but other than that nothing big or that damaging. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay in my opinion is all about geting in the mind of a character and creating a story through interaction with other characters, it's about being someone you're not and bringing and idea to life, and by doing that creating a narrative for everyone to enjoy! What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe the purpose of a Head of Staff is to do all in their power to make sure the round doesn't go up in flames and that everyone has a good time playing and it just doesn't turn into a boring slog of a round. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: In my opinion the Whitelist is a privilege and responsibility that must be earned, and like in real life a holder of a privilege is held up to a higher standard than those without, which in means in the context of the Aurora a Whitelistee must be aware of the rules and knowledgeable enough ooc and ic to be able to help others. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? After the very controversial Frost invasion and the subsequent rise of the New Republicans, leading to a loosening of restrictions on NanoTransen. Something that the Idris higher ups are not too happy about; a problem further compounded by the state of disrepair the Tau Ceti headquarters are in. The Bosses are in desperate need of an employee that has in-depth knowledge of NanoTransen to represent Idris onboard the Aurora, Henry Melpede would've been the perfect candidate for the job, he had the experience dealing with the higher ups on the station due to his job on his barista and he made friend with quite a few people there. Shame he was too young for the job. But where there's one young, happy Melpede. There's an older, more serious one around the corner. A few papers signed here and there and voila George Melpede is here to do business. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Corporate Liaison for Idris incorporated, as my current Barista's father George Melpede. I'd like to be able to roleplay with a connection to an already established character, and I feel Icly that having the father of a jokey bartender being a complete corporate business man would be an interesting story for those that have already interacted with Henry. Other than that maybe another command role using another character but for the moment only as a liaison as Henry. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: George Melpede the father of the famed happy bartender, now the brand new face of Idris Incorporated on the station, as corporate liaison George looks to see what his smarmy son got up to onboard this station and spread Idris influence in Tau Ceti by making deals with those in NT, and hey if more people leave NT and join Idris Incorporated, that's just business. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I'd say that with the right character I can roleplay quite competently, but I'll be the first to admit that there's always room for improvement and I'm no different. But I always aim to improve for both my sake and every other player's sake. But I'm here to have fun and create interesting stories! Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I understand completely and I like to think that I am an overall a pretty quiet player, I've never had an incident report or character complaint (I say this from the time I'm writing this, though I don't expect any anytime soon). Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Indeed I have, In fact I actually like to read the wiki in my free time, and I have studied up quite a bit on the role I'm looking to play. Link to comment
Zer0Winds
I've had few interactions with them, but when I do, it's positive. Good enough for me. +1 here Link to comment
ZipZopBoopityBop
I've had good interactions with Henry specifically, my character is mute and they went above and beyond to wait patiently for me to ask despite someone else being rude next to me. +1 Link to comment

Faris
We've read this and are currently looking at a potential issue on the wiki, which is relevant to your application. Expect some form of verdict within a day or two. Link to comment
Faris
I apologize for the delay. As it stands, your application is mostly suitable and I'm willing to provide you with a trial, but there is a portion that needs correcting due to a new change. Quote Qualifications: At least 30 years of age, relevant education. You've convinced NanoTrasen Central Command you're worth loaning a Shuttle, and you are representing an Interest Group These are the modified qualifications of liaison/representatives/counselors roles. You'll need to either modify your written character to accommodate this or create a new character. Link to comment
Faris
Read the new character and spoke to the individual briefly over discord. Trial starting on 13/02 and ending on 19/02. Link to comment
Faris
Extending trial to 23rd of this month. Link to comment
Zer0Winds
Their Head of Security is good. They aren't the type to just immediately rush to a scene themselves, like some HoS's, but rather, actually try to manage the department, and delegate jobs. Also, they are NKA, so, I must support them, because supporting them, supports the King. Probably. +1 Link to comment
Kryostro
Rijiikirr Al'Athal has a impeccable design, nevertheless to be put in the position of a Head of Security. They actively give orders and aren't just- 'arm up, kill that, shoot that', but they're considerate of the situations and are always making use of each officer under their control. They're a delight to play alongside in command. If I see Rijiikirr Al'Athal on the manifest, I know the station is in good and capable hands and should have a competent response to the antags as the round progresses. One notable example of their skills would be their quick action to have a unruly officer detained, and during this same round I was a antagonist. However, due to orders that Rijiikirr Al'Athal had given to the officers, I couldn't just walk up and get the officer out with my captain spare. Then when a later situation arose and I attempted to grab the prisoner in the mania after a ion rifle was accidentally shot at a officer, the head of security was smart enough to realize something was up and coordinated his officers to surround me to ensure I didn't run. He is a gorilla to the monkeys, and he's good at organizing those monkeys. That in mind, I would love to see TealSeal as a permanent addition of the command roster, so I'll give this a +1. P.S - Command gang, command gang. Link to comment
NerdyVampire
Rijiikirr Al'Athal was a thoughtful Head of Security and took time to get to know their antag before deciding what action to take. They seemed capable and patient from my perspective and I would enjoy playing with them as Head of Security again. +1 from me. Link to comment
Doxxmedearly
I didn't have a great experience with Rijiikir. During a recent malf round when he was in science with myself and another roboticist he was just... sort of wordlessly trying to bash his way out instead of addressing us to open the door? And then followed us to our lab and just started snagging stuff, like an analyzer. Communication felt very poor and I honestly thought it was just someone else in a HoS voidsuit until I saw the ID. Please remember that even when things get hectic, it's still a roleplay server. You shouldn't be telebatonning the window when there's two people who can let you out. The whole time you were with us you were awkwardly silent. Not a +1/-1 since it was just one experience, but do look out for that. You are a coordinator. Communicate. Link to comment
Peppermint
Not been particularly impressed either. Seem to go AFK a lot and make very questionable decisions. Likewise there's very little communication with other departments and no real 'presence' as it were. Has felt more like a warden character than a HoS. Sorry. Maybe just caught you on bad rounds. EDIT: Looking through, you stated you wanted to play just a liason or now, but moved on to HoS? I've not seen that liason once. Likewise, I don't wish to be mean, but have you played much sec before? I do not recognise any of those names. Edited February 24, 2020 by Lemei Link to comment
Shadow7889
Decent Head of Security. However needs to improve on communication with Command/ISD. Link to comment
TealPinniped
As a response to the most recent ones: 1. The whole silently breaking the shutter was me going on autopilot there, during the whole debacle I was dealing with having to coordinate a very small and spread-out security team and making sure command wasn't being blown up by the artillery, Could I have handled it better? Most likely, yeah. And the taking the cyborg analyzer that was a mistake, I only meant to take a crowbar so I could respond to the library and make sure everything was safe. I even put the analyzer back once I realized the mistake back, so I am sorry about that whole deal. 2. While yeah I may occasionally go AFK, I don't think I do it excessively and every time I needed to be out for longer then a few minutes I always tried to tell everyone OOCly. Also which round and what decision do you refer to? @Lemei because I could give reasoning if needed. Lastly, I chose liaison first because I had an idea for it, but a new lore change came and kind of killed that. I did attempt to play the spare liaison a couple times but I always that during the rounds he was active, nobody worked for Idris. I did my best to be proactive be making pamphlets and offering recruitment deals; sadly nothing really happened with that, and yeah with the Hos thing it was sort of an accident, I made Rijiikirr as a sec character to test out my shiny new whitelist( speaking of which I had played plenty of sec characters before, officers and cadet. None of them however ever interested me to make them a recurring character however. The one's I put up for the app are the ones I thought people would recognize the most seeing they were recurring characters). And lastly for the lack of presence thing, frankly that must've been a quiet round, because I personally feel like I attempt to keep command informed as much as possible. Which brings me to my last point nicely. 3. Overall I'm flattered that you think I am a decent Hos. And in my defense, the lack of communication was mostly due to me dealing with a small department and a very intense ic argument in the library. Making sure my officers are charging the bartender fairly and making sure they kept to protocol distracted me a bit too. The fact the hivebots decided to show with only three members of sec didn't help either. And I feel like I did try to communicate such as telling engineering to prepare and bring chargers, the whole hivebot deal spread me and my forces really thin so it took a lot of me giving out very direct orders to my underlings and fighting the hivebots myself. Doxxmedearly
I understand. HoS is a stressful role. But all command can and will be that stressful on hectic rounds. You HAVE to communicate better under pressure; easier said than done, I know, as someone with a command whitelist. Please use the feedback to improve this, since it seems a few people have similar experiences. My end goal is to see you do well as a command staff, not try to block you from getting it. Faris
There's been some feedback on the following. 1- Tunnel vision 2- Lack of presence/communication Keep these in mind when you play in the future, any gross examples of these may result in a whitelist removal per the guidelines of whitelist removal. I'm going to pass this trial, just consider the feedback presented here. Trial passed, application accepted. Link to comment
