Mr. Teatime
BYOND key: SikozuZhann (Or Mr. Meriweather) Edit: Officially Mr. Meriweather now Discord Username: Mr. Teatime#9417 Character names: Soleil Drast, Surgeon Ji-Min Seong, Pharmacist Aria Narith, Bridge Crew Bastian Brandt, Machinist Hannibal Maharramov, Engineer Morgan Grayza, Investigator How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Daily for about a month? I also played for a while some years ago when full body replacement cyborgs were still a thing. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? No official actions or warnings. Just some helpful bwoinks. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To help guide the department's operation and the roleplay within it, including interactions with other departments. Their IC authority gives them a lot of weight for shaping a round, ideally so that the most people have fun, know what they're doing in terms of mechanics, and get plenty of opportunity to write. They coordinate with the rest of the ship as well as command to both mechanically handle a situation and grow storylines. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: They should understand how their department works and be able to keep communication clear and open as much as possible. Keeping things organized, calling out what needs doing, etc. They should also be willing and able to teach and guide newer players (Interns, cadets, etc.) along and make an active effort to get them involved. This is especially so in emergencies when staff should be kept in the loop so they know that needs doing. At the same time, heads have a responsibility to avoid micromanagement; people are here to have fun and don't need to be prodded constantly. And of course, keep anything OOC entirely out of IC. Roleplay's the most important part of roleplay. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau Ceti and how it affected your character and their career? In the middle of a massive phoron shortage crisis, the SCCV Horizon is on a mission to find new sources of the vital resource and other exploitables out in the CRZ. Soleil Drast, originally from Europa, took to a Zeng-hu career track to escape the endless ocean and life on a submarine. Learning abroad at the Biesel Institute of Medical Sciences, he eventually ended up back on Europa in a deep-sea research facility, before eventually transferring to the Horizon. Since the Sol Alliance split, he's been partly separated from his family back on Europa. In a time of uncertainty and chaotic change, Tau Ceti and the Horizon have become a new home. He's become protective over the ship, medbay especially, as a place he can help in spite of everything else going on. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? CMO, although I also have interest in Liaison (Zeng-hu) and Captain (after more experience in different departments). Any other heads I'd want to thoroughly get down their overall schtick and process before even trying. Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Sure have! Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Soleil Drast, currently Surgeon, for CMO. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Absolutely, makes perfect sense. Have you linked your byond account to the forums? I have. SikozuZhaan's characters may be transferred to Mr. Meriweather, though. Extra notes: Glad to answer any questions from anyone! I still ask lots myself, aha. I mostly play medical so the most likely characters you'd spot are Soleil or Bastian. Edited July 16, 2022 by ReadThisNamePlz More recognizable character name. Edit 2: Ckey change Link to comment
EJJ
Oh hey you're Brandt. I dig him! Drast is great, when I end up as iCMO I tend to give him the scanner and hypo if it makes sense, he's good at handling tense ANTAG situations and generally has a really good head on his shoulders. Usually he's pretty good about managing med and getting people focused. I think he'd make a great CMO! +1 Edited June 30, 2022 by EJJ Link to comment
Sheeplets
I can only speak on my experiences with Soleil Drast. I've had no problems with him, whatsoever. He's communicative, cooperative, and just as easy to work with as he is to get along with. While the player may still be learning the department, they take enough initiative in rounds - without going overboard, or overstepping - to give me confidence in their competence. However, my one point of contention is that I'd suggest you make a new character for CMO. At least for the length of your trial, provided you get one. +1 Link to comment
Tristan63
I too have only interacted with Soleil. A fun and interesting character, that has saved many of mine many a times from many a different wounds. I cannot speak highly enough of this player and will look forward to seeing their new command characters in the future. +1 Link to comment
LordPwner
Played many rounds with Drast- Haven't had the job of meeting the others yet, but I'm sure they can handle it! Their Roleplay is good and enjoyable, the character is fun to interact with. They got that- +1 Link to comment
Pedantic
Okay, from what I've played with them, they're calm, chill, and above all, willing to run with the round, so this is a plus one from me. Looking forward to more command for shenanigans! +1 Link to comment
Mr. Teatime
Thanks for all the replies dudes! Per @Sheeplets point I'm happy to make up a trial character if I get one, that makes sense to me. Link to comment
ReadThisNamePlz
Alrighty, I've let this sit for a few days to allow you to collect feedback. I'll go ahead and give you a weeks trial. It'll end 7-10-22. Good luck! Link to comment
Solono
Drast has always been fun, good natured and a joy to play with. Absolute +1 from me. Link to comment
LordPwner
Been playing alot with CMO Volvalaad- Very good, helpful. Lets department members under them actually do their jobs instead of forcing himself into the situations. Asks if people need help. Uses ! too much. I'd say they can keep it Link to comment
DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun
Just had a round with their CMO during a very large blob attack, I watched them manage the department (of like 1 or 2 doctors) and sufficiently treat the several popped lungs and burns that came in, they seemed very competent and I couldn't even tell that they were an on-trial character. Toward the end of the round I checked my Ta Vaurca into medical for a physical exam, the player was capable of roleplay and clearly knew how to improvise medical mumbojumbo, given the absurd situation of a Ta needing a physical. I feel confident enough in their roleplay standard and their ability to lead that I'd say they'll make a good addition to the Command team. +1 Link to comment
Zelmana
Teatime has a well developed character here with Drast that is pleasant to interact with. I've seen them recently stepping in more to help interns. They vibe well with Command when present and I could see them orchestrating command level items if given the opportunity. +1 Link to comment
Nol4
I caught a ling round with Volvalaad recently. When one of the lings used their stasis ability for the first time and was "found dead", Volvalaad repeatedly hyperfocused on bugged behavior to justify not releasing the body to the morgue (and in doing so, denying the antagonist any chance to get away before the body was picked up by security), going so far as to use a stethoscope on the corpse to announce they could still hear breath sounds despite the brain-dead hud icon. This kind of valid hunting is unfortunate on any character, but is particularly oppressive on a head of staff who can override their subordinates' attempts to give antagonists an inch of leeway. Your mechanical medical knowledge seems thorough- you clearly know auroramed well! Mechanics aside and focusing on the social side, I've seen you be great with newbies and good with your improvisation. If the above mentioned incident was an unfortunate one-off, then I have no reservations. Edited July 5, 2022 by Nol4 grammar Link to comment
Mr. Teatime
About that round! I wasn't aware until your reply (nol4) that the sensor/breathing thing were changeling/game bugs. Alberich's reaction of wanting to examine the weirdness before the body went to the morgue seemed reasonable at the time. I didn't intend for them to be held up long or to validhunt. Generally I try to give antagonists leeway in doing things; if I'd known this was a bug it would've been more easily dismissed. The idea was for Alberich to examine the body himself (probably alone somewhere since they were clearly dead) but I kinda botched it 'cause they were handed off to the investigator instead, and the story went from there. Now I know that stuff's buggy though, I'll be more careful in future and give some extra room for antag shenanigans around it. Thanks for the reviews everyone! Faye <3
I think you'd do fine, but would like to see more of a presence on command comms. Hard to get a reply out of you sometimes! Link to comment
Zulu0009
I've played a few rounds with Volvalaad now, great CMO, it's good to see him actively engaged and serious about stuff, managing the department, not being super strict or overbearing but also never absent or uncaring. Also very strict about personal morals, such as no borgification and a strong support for mental health which literally doesn't matter for this app but I give it brownie points because I like him. He has my +1 and I love him. Link to comment
EJJ
Excellent from what I've seen of them, though from the few rounds I've played and had non-antag access to command comms the only thing I could say is working on checking in more to command. Even if its a basic update of what you're doing, where, how, why, what you're going to do next, etc etc. Still a +1 Link to comment
ReadThisNamePlz
Sorry for the delay. Work's been hectic. Approved! Enjoy your command! Link to comment
