BYOND key: SirCatnip

Character names: Dylan Wright

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About 104 days, I believe.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've had a lot of people tell my I should go for Head of Staff, and I've served as interim HoS a lot of times and it's gone quite well.

Why did you come to Aurora?: I was searching for a heavy RP server, after looking through a bunch I ended up staying here because of the great staff, good characters and good community.

Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Being a character rather than yourself (or sometimes based off of yourself), and realistically depicting said character and what they would do in situations that arise. Everyone RPs differently, and that's kinda what makes it great, no two rounds are the same.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To keep order in the department, communicate with other heads of staff to coordinate the station better. Also to be somewhat of an example for your department, and make the job easier and more coordinated for staff of the department, whilst helping new players out with some of the more advanced stuff if possible.

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I guess whitelisted players are somewhat of an example, follow rules to good standard, RP well, active, should be willing to provide help to new players. I like to think I do all of that already, so not much would change in this matter despite having more tools to help cadets or new officers learn the job.

Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.

Character name: Dylan Wright

Character age: 30

Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Wright had a pretty average upbringing, suffered with depression from a pretty young age, his life wasn't really going anywhere at the age of about 16, so he decided to actually try to do something useful, and started training to join the military, by his 17th birthday he had met the qualifications and left his home a few days after. He served in the Pacific Union armed forces for three years, achieved the rank of Lance Corporal, before transferring to special forces. After four years there, he was honourably discharged with some pretty major wounds, and a missing left arm.

The next month was a pretty shit time for him, he wasn't able to do much due to only having one arm, and was stuck in his apartment that he bought after being discharged, he had nothing without a job to do, and his heart was starting to fail, Nanotrasen gave him an out, when he joined up his heart was replaced with a mechanical heart, and his arm replaced with a prosthetic. He started work as a Security officer a week later, at age 25, five years ago.

What do you like about this character?: Being my current only character, I've put a lot of work into the character, I'm pretty happy with it all things considered.

What do you dislike about this character?: Military backstory is a bit generic, but I think I atleast do it alright, I try not to bring it up unless it comes up unlike some.

What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: He's experienced with leading a team, and has already served as interim a fair few times.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?: 7/10 maybe? The character is somewhat introverted, so it takes some talking before you can find out some of the 'hidden' stuff, but in general I think my RP is sufficient.

Extra notes: Free bread tubes for Security!

I wrote this whole thing and it just deleted it.. UGH Well anyway, In my eyes from what I have seen of him OOC and IC he would make a great HoS +1 from me

Edit: After his Character has grown, He has died less often, and his character actually is quite well built and fleshed out, Even though the backstory is kinda MEH, his IC story is very spot on, I truly believe that he is doing, and he is, what it takes to be HoS

Edited, I'll try to add some more if anything comes to mind, I'm pretty tired right now, but hopefully this is sufficient.

Dylan is long overdue.

He's probably ythe longest running friend i have, and the longest serving officer i can recall on aurora. He's served as interim many times, done very well and is pretty likeable. He's also managed to reduce his death rate. The artificial heart makes him rather vulnerable to EMP, but he seems to cope with it pretty well.

And i know for a fact, with dylan as HoS we will see more combat exosuitts built, and i'm very excited about that

He's good at knowing what needs to be done in crises, and is a pretty good judge of people

Dylan is cool stuff, he knows how to roleplay and I've never had an issue with him, but he didn't address Xanders issue yet so I'm keeping it neutral, for now. Two sentences don't count as a paragraph ;p

I'm in the same boat as ArcBot. He's one of the security people I feel safer around and I trust him quite well to do his job. As well, he's pretty awesome OOC and roleplays quite well. He's certainly one of the more memorable people on this server and I would happily give my +1 once the issue has been fixed.

At least 30 years of age

Possess department-related degree

HoP,HoS: Bachelors (Masters preferred)

CMO,RD: PhD (Several preferred)

CE: Doctorate of Engineering (or equivalent)

10 years experience in department-related field

Pass NanoTrasen Upper-Management Aptitude Test

Advanced Level-2 Psychological screening

Seeing the Bio , i don't see anything relating to Education , and a bachelors is needed for Head of Security. Might want to edit that or use a different character. Irregardless i'll give it a +1

And . probably agify him 5 years , seeing as you only have half of the required experience to be a Head of Staff

The bio was just a short description, he does meet all the qualifications.

I'm a bit late on this one, but I have a lot of two cents to put in. Hi. You may know me for my character Isabella Silva, a security officer who's absolutely amazing at being awful and bland. I've played with Dylan for many many rounds and am actually pretty good friends with him, so I might be biased, but oh well, I've played with him, and I respect him way too much to not write a post shilling the heck out of him.

Dylan is an incredible leader when he needs to be. I'm not kidding, you look for qualities you'd want in a leader, Dylan's got those. I've been legitimately baffled in how efficiently he's been able to unify security and issue intelligent and safe orders. He took charge, he maintained empathy, he was, and is, a relate-able leader, one who people can actually want to follow, and look up to. It's amazing seeing what he can do.

He understands what it means to be security, as people never seem to realize. Just as the antagonist's overarching goal is to make the round more fun for everyone, to push for things to happen in a creative, RP rich way, so is security's. Security enforces regulations, and tries to keep the station, and it's crew, safe, happy, and able to do their job without worrying about somebody wanting to kill them. A good example of what I'm trying to say: Take a wizard. Wizard rounds are cool, right? There's a wizard, yes? They're nice. They're a kind wizard. You know what Dylan would do? Dylan would be nice to the kind wizard, and probably get them an ID or something, I don't know. Point is, Dylan knows how to make a round fun. More fun for everyone, this including antagonists, and people who break regulations for whatever reason. Everyone deserves a good time.

Dylan has mechanical knowledge, and RP skills in massive amounts, and I think he will, if he gets the position, be the best of the best. He will be a shining example of an amazing head of security.

Praise Bread-Sie

Originally I was hesitant to post on this app as my bias to give him a +1 is incredibly obvious and didn't want to give the impression of fluffed, content-less support. With everyone else already posting and showing support I feel like my own won't come off quite as biased now so I'm happy to give it. Catnip has plenty of experience as interim running security and the majority of rounds where I've seen him get it and actually keep it long enough to do something, he's done a wonderful job at running the security team and keeping them efficient and effective. Dylan Wright is an incredibly well known security officer and as shown by the support given in this thread, he's well liked, competent, and most importantly, flexible when it comes to dealing range of situations security often has to handle. Just like Pikl said, Catnip does his best to make sure the round stays interesting instead of simply trying to shut down the antagonists like many other officers often do. At this point, it's not uncommon to see Dylan Wright directing security action when lacking a head of staff as many of the other officers trust him. Even though I do have some reservations about certain aspects of the character, I still think that Catnip could easily make for one great Head of Security as Dylan Wright, much better than many of the others that I've seen.

Well, I've seen Dylan Wright on station, and during one lovely Malf round (but that's unrelated), and I've seen him lead the officers, (I'm not sure, but I might have seen him as an acting HoS, I could be wrong).

He also RPs pretty well on extended.

I'd definitely give him my +1.

(He might secretly be an antag, because Dylansnax-bread tubes are on the NukeOps shuttle, Bread-sie loves him)

I thought i posted here already, dylan is by far one of the best sec officers around, he knows what and when to do things, he also seems to have gotten better at not dying while still having a robotic heart.

1+, but you will have to be a bit more strict as HoS
