Suggestion: Actual Play Schedules
sonicgotnuked replied to sonicgotnuked's topic in Off Topic Discussion
your all fired -
In an attempt to offer the highest quality product from the NSS Aurora for our investors in science, I am hereby requesting an actual weekly maintained schedule that our slaves players are required to follow or risk further punishment escalation including permanent termination from our community with no chance at appeal. The schedule will provide what position they will be required to play to stop the lacking of certain important positions sometimes present. It will be mandatory to have our players play during dead hour times as well. Feedback will not be tolerated in this change, and I expect everyone to make plans around it. Thank you -CCIA Sonic

[Accepted]veradox command whitelist
sonicgotnuked replied to veradox's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Holy shit he is fucking doing it. Seriously, +1 from me. I want to see Vera buckling as a captain leading a heard of sheep :^) -
Burger, if you get accepted, I know you will probably be the antag command you have been ranting about. Don't tell me you are going to toggle off everything! You have to try it once to really know the amount of power given to you as it goes to your head, heart, and soul. Especially HoP because ya'know, all access n'tuff when you get ling. In all seriousness, I'll like to see em with command (at least the trial) +1
-
Yah know, there is some issues with his HoS play that I personally see, but it is honestly very minor and expected due to the fact he is a new head of staff and I see improvement. Hell, I'm not perfect as a head of staff, but improvements the most important aspect that someone who holds a whitelist should have. +1 good luck buddy.

Didn't you all see that there was a PR just opened? I highly agree that removing ling from secret will downright kill the mode. When is the last time we voted modes removed from secret like traitorling? People are pushing for a re-work, and a fresh new PR was just opened in response.
-
Also I got a request: Another almost DNA extract that would give you 3-4 genetic points. It would seriously fuck up someones memory, but it also screws up someones genome so bad that they change appearance, have a chance of changing species, or perhaps get husked. Perhaps it would scar the person mentally with the amount of pain so they remember being attacked by a monster but they don't remember the person or situation. Just an idea of course.
-
I would make it 5. This would immediately unlock horror form if I go decide to succ someone or a proto-human.
-
I agree with assigning someone to a ling rework. It needs to be done to be honest. My point of view (I'm not a developer so it could be mute) is that re-working ling requires actual progression and testing with the server that disabling will not provide. I want to see a pinned thread full of discussion that this magical assigned person watches over. This is something that will be a lot of work. When (if) this person is given the power over ling, perhaps it should be their decision to remove ling during a re-work.
-
I should also put in another one of my opinions. LING IS NOT AN EASY FIX. It will have to involve delicate operation to adjust skills, balance it, and make it better to suit a HRP style. The only way to tell how this works is to have active and multiple rounds of ling involving these new mechanics to tell if it really suits it or not. It is like coding a new gamemode. No one ever does it because it'll be a pain in the ass regarding how people interact with ling. My fear is: We remove it, we will not have something like ling for a very VERY long period of time. This is why I gave the idea of multiple PR's over a period of time to activly adjust and tweak it into something a lot better then "SUCC IN MAINT, KILL" In the short run: I like lings IDEA, not its current state of affairs.
-
Oh the beloved ling. I have kept it disabled on my antag preferences for so long that I have zero idea what to do when I become it. I succ people of their genes and murder them in a room? I don't think ling needs to be removed, it needs a rework. Perhaps it is something that completely fucks up someones genome to the point they change species (excluding Vaurica, Vox, and lesser types), appearance, and even genders without any memory? I understand cloning a husked body does this to an extent due to the fact I've turned into cats and liggers before. My main argument for disabling ling is it presents itself as The Biological Horror antagonist type that no other can replicate. I find it enjoyable to sometimes suddenly pop off the exam table and freak everyone in the room out, like I did with my most recent ling round. Ling is not all about combat, it is also about deception, and one little mistake will lead to you being stunned and thrown into something like xenobiology. You want Horror form? I guess you need to suck at LEAST 5 people (depending on how many protohumans you decided to eat before it was considered power gaming). Think about it, if you decide to buy a couple powers to help you out and spend that five points, you will need to remove OVER five people from the round to do such just to get the golden sweet horror form everyone truly loves. What next? Fucking bone spike everyone around you because suddenly you are THE level seven biohazard the captain will be asking to nuke. Ling, has shortfalls in regards to its progression system. You want to try pushing for horror form? Well, you better find out how to RP properly the station feeding you protohumans, hope to dear god there are a few miners who fell down a hole, there is other antags around generating dead bodies, or just gank. The round has a time limit, and it is only possible to invest in a few people to RP with before everyone is bored and calling for CT two hours in. Good luck. Keep in mind: No matter HOW MUCH RP you are willing to generate, everyone will be salty in the long run because you had to throw their body in a hole or get caught. I have tried so many times to build up the RP, but the more you are willing to invest, the more you will run out of time. At least vampire can succ people of blood and let medical take them to progress. In the short: Ling needs an active re-work with things being added inside multiple PR's, not just one. I am happy transformation sting was nerfed, I am glad they have horror form, but its progression system needs to be re-worked, mechanics changed, and perhaps shift its progression into something like vampire. Imagine if vampire involved points to spend?! You would have to suck 5x as much blood to unlock all powers. For the easy start: How about we give them stun resistance so at least they are not losing to one officer with a taser and stun baton, seriously.

Security (And other roles) Less Likely to Become Antag
sonicgotnuked replied to BurgerBB's topic in Archive
I do think sec traitor can be pretty bad at times, but I am more on neutral terms with limiting Heads of Staff. Perhaps lower the chance and run a check to see how many heads of staff are on the station? If there is like 3 or 4, then other heads of staff are easily able to step up and combat the traitor one. It is highly complex too, because heads of staff are expected to attempt providing good play when they become antags due to the amount of power they have to swing their entire department around, especially science or the HoP. To summarize: Head of Staff antags is literal easy mode but you got to keep in mind traitor heads of staff are more expected to understand and follow antag rules and provide a better quality. Sometimes you people need to make a greytide baldi and get them as a traitor because challenge is fun. -
+1 I remember this old idea and I think it just got forgotten. I want to see something like this due to ERT being really powerful in nature.
-
The tank and its radius of effect is completely out of the picture. This is the damage that occurs every time a max-charged APC explodes.
-
I would like to add some clarification. Explosions act like a cone that only travel upwards when it breaches Z-levels. If I blew an explosion on the main level and it was powerful enough, it will travel to the surface. Now on the other hand, an explosion on the surface level will only damage the surface level and nothing bellow it. I think APC machine overload should blow off limbs, but I don't want to see it travel Z-levels and gib people like an SMES should.
-
The three times I did it and looked, I saw Z-level damage. They were fully charged APCs.

[Resolved] Player Complaint - Itanimulli
sonicgotnuked replied to CommanderXor's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Hi, I was that one assistant who was thralled and broke him out. Mainly due to me being somewhat bored, I had no issues with the player in question thralling me and I had some good roleplay with another thrall while we planned his escape. In the meantime, I did see the amount of complaints they had inside LOOC about the entire situation and I was somewhat wishing they wouldn't suddenly start a passive aggressive attitude. I didn't witness the remainder of the round after I broke him out because I had to go. I sacrificed myself to the antag as a thrall for a little boost before I logged off. -
I forgot to mention that. It actually does breach three Z-levels.
-
I mean, a SMES holds a lot more power. I can see that blowing a massive hole. Meanwhile, APCs I don't see that. I don't think it was ever intended either because whoever made the code put the same equation into the SMES. Probably something from bay.
-
I understand that Sleepy, but some naive AIs learn about it the hard way. We will always get a new person who gets machine overload and blows up the glowing green thing on the wall. How does a little APC destroy entire departments? Why don't we just nerf the explosion size so it can be serious but not instantly remove five people from the round? I gibbed the entire of security before back on the Exodus when I learned APCs equal max cap bombs. Perhaps this was just a long overdue bug by whoever coded machine overload accidentally copied the SMES equation. Perhaps while we are at it, we should code a warning to the SMES's that they can be pretty big explosions whenever you decide to click on it. There are substations that an AI can charge if they wish to blow up a portion of the station.
-
Ah, glorious machine overload. I remember back on the exodus when an AI would blow a fully charged APC and it is equivalent to a max cap bomb anywhere on the station. Sadly, I thought it was fixed about over a year ago. It wasn't to my surprise after doing some basic testing. The AI can seriously gib you anywhere there is an APC and turn you department into a hole in the rock. Seriously. I got some photos bellow with a SMES and APC. SMES should be pretty big booms in my opinion, but the APC needs to be weaker at full charge.

[Implemented] On Security Transparency During Crises
sonicgotnuked replied to Kaed's topic in Accepted/Implemented Policy
Sadly, that seems like a player issue with command. I personally inform people the basics when I am raising the code. I don't think there needs to be actual enforcement because some thing you have to keep swept under the rug and vague. How would the crew react if the malf AI was blowing up APCs and anything around them could blow up in a moments notice. How would the crew react about the death cult kidnapping people randomly from the halls. I understand that some of these things add to the fun of a round if command tells you those examples, but sometimes it causes unnecessary issues. -
