  1. BYOND Key: SonicGotNuked Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Purple Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I found Skrell fascinating as a non-restricted xeno in human space after they found each other. Skrells have been in space longer after all, and they are the ones that accidentally introduced artificial intelligence that we all know continuously pulls political tension and a blurred line. Should synthetics get free ownership of themselves and the same universal rights? I like this aspect of Skrell with a natural skepticism, or hatred of synthetics where even cyborgification can be seen as monstrous from when they learnt of the technology that was used to colonize mars. This is what captivates me: this almost PTSD like attitude within their fame based society after the events of Glorsh sterilized a majority of the aging species. They may look harmless, but their drive to win and resolve unavoidable conflict makes them one of the best fighting forces in the galaxy. Mechanics wise, I also enjoy the idea of their dream based communication, telepathy, and how it is even considered assault to use on another species against their will. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: @VTCobaltblood While humans can at times be unpredictable, The Skrell as a race have an entire set of emotional displays that are considerably different than the rest of the species. Skrell emotions are more complex, and deeply tied into and rooted into their own language and telepathic abilities among each each other. While humans enjoy a good joke, Skrell through age may become increasingly distant from Humor as an entire form through practice after disliking the feeling it provides that their younger selves may have enjoyed more. While also human jokes may have a punchline, Skrell look towards the more visual aspects then actual verbal communication. It is physically impossible for other species to speak and fully understand their language as well and the language helps establish a barrier for observing emotions. Character Name: Azqu Uqu-Uilk Please provide a short backstory for this character THE COLLAPSE The Supernova Era The Contact Era What do you like about this character? I enjoy the background, the multiple century history briefly described. She has things she hates, loves, traits she gained from childhood, and even what was past traits turned flaws from a late birth within an uncertain era. She looked up when her mother looked up, and she will always have what her mother printed onto her. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 7/10 Notes: Looking at the lore for error checking, I'm actually NOT sure when the geneophage was inacted. Maybe in 2185, maybe in 2100. I don't know. This backstory kind of assumed a much later genophage.
  2. I have an idea for the authentification the captain would have to keep safe. Perhaps instead of a disk with sequence codes, perhaps its a core of the special substance/energy source kept at top secret levels. You install the core to activate it, then the code is used for authentication. This will also give mercs more sounding motif. They captured a device, but they still need the energy. (Omega Core)
  3. NT blowing the station back to the stone age with artillery. Seriously, this is not a topic that needs to be thoroughly fleshed out into every dimension of space and time. It's a game, sometimes games just have "Because it works" shit, especially in science fiction fantasies where we have bullshit technologies based upon made of figures of laws and some magical substance called phoron. I don't see the physical aspects of phoron worked, nor do I see bluespace fully explained too. NT developed a supper weapon, called it the "Omega Plan" then replaced the nuke because nukes are messy. Lore wise, NT understands there would be issues with having a nuke onboard their station, and would get in serious shit once everyones radars lit up with the NSS Aurora exploding. This makes a lot more sense, and it provides a greater fear. It gets activated, the sweep begins to charge up, sending a sound down the halls instead of lol you're now nuclear ash. People would have an excuse to fear, and perhaps even try to stop it because no one wants to see their meta cliche gibbed. This is a lot more fearful, and certainly provides greater roleplay then a nuke. I want to see this, and it would be cool to have a giant super secret weapon only captains know about sitting above their office. We could even rename 'Code Delta' to 'Code Omega'
  4. Yeah, I became ling for the first time with this, and I was able to easily pull enough for horror form. Other than that, I tried to not do it because its shitty and powergamey. I like this idea.
  5. Fucking: Why. Why are YD suddenly becoming the great massive push of "We need you to sit around for [x] amount of time and tally up all the crap you mined" This is perhaps some of the most tedious paperwork there is in the game and I've done a great share of it ranging from captain, HoP, IAA, RD, etc. Why don't we push paper work for engineerings every minor change on the station? Why don't we fill out station repair paperwork. Because its boring and tedious. "This is HRP" shouldn't be the excuse to sit around and do mind numbing amounts of YDs on every little thing of ore you mine. It's a game. Like engineering and repair paperwork, its more important to actually fix the massive hole in the station then it is to worry about some paper someone throws into a filing cabinet somewhere. I would personally care more about my ores getting to science at a faster rate. Of all the time I've been here, yes, there has been some who push it, but it never becomes a big meme. If diamonds suddenly turn up missing, then ask mining. I'm sure they are willing to give you an estimate. I understand there is some use to it, but please, if you are the QM, just do it yourself if you like it that much.
  6. Hi! I was the malfunctioning AI this round and I skimmed the complaint, and I wanted to say a couple things. Firstly, Kappa holds correct that he did not in fact ever go near my core, especially later stage in the round where all my attention was placed to my core, and the people trying to dig straight down in it. Gunner went out of the shuttle to convince Corvo to come with everyone, and it pulled a decent amount of roleplay for Corvo to indeed drag him to my core and toss him into my borg machine. He at the end of the day, got a fate worse then death. Secondly, especially towards the latter parts, I was a psychopathic machine demanding Corvos sacrifice while the self destruct timer is clearly counting down, recalling every shuttle, and throwing all opposition into my borg machine plus describing the brutal process as I made it known that I threw the CE in too. I think regardless, breaking into the bridge to escape death is certainly acceptable, and if the QM decided to try forcing cargo to stay in cargo, then he would of certainly deserved a thermal drill in his chest. The self destruct was ticking, and no one could stop a psychopathic AI and Corvo was forced to bend to its will: Submit into the machine if everyone wanted to go home.
  7. add this to aut'akh to because of soul anchor.
  8. https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/11802-antag-cc-announcement-tweak/ This should kind of help it.
  9. This was added to malf AI, so I know it is possible to do. Please give the other antag CC announcements actual paragraph boxes to type in. I want to see my entire message and type actual paragraphs. Also something else, I am unsure how people would react: Give malf access to see/send faxes. Put it under something like elite encryption hack.
  10. I am unsure how CCIA handle it, and I think they at some point they may confirm depending on the content and announcement, and it is bwoinkable. I think we need to set in stone some things that can range it from minor - extreme, extreme being yeah, fucking ask. It depends on the announcement of course, and there may be some that warrants a confirmation. For example: Gimmick related, inspectors, security force, visitors, etc. I would avoid faxing about these If there is a reassignment order for one specific job to another job, this isn't something unknown and extreme, follow it. Regulation changes/experimentation, I wouldn't ask depending on if it makes like Murder a yellow infraction. A department is getting shutdown, depends on how worded the announcement is, perhaps you can send a fax asking WHY if it is vague. If the order is like, "The captain must be executed" then of course question it. It depends on the fax, and how crazy it is. If its like, "Kill the captain" then I don't expect it to be followed that much.
  11. Central command announcements have a hefty power behind them. They can urge, and add onto the experience of the entire round no matter if its CCIA, traitor, revolution, mercs, or malf. Central Command Announcements ICly are secure and reliable ways central command directs entire crewmembers and/or command to request, deny, or modify orders/directives. We need to stop treating them like a two year old can hack into the system. It is regulated by a large corporate entity, and no-adverage Joe can simply break into it. Signatures do not put merit if the announcement is real or fake. It would seriously add onto the round if command staff do not turn around emmedietly and send conformation faxes. They cost 12 TC (a big chunk) regardless for one. Of course, if it is poorly worded, or written like a five year old made it, then yeah, that's a separate thing. At least give it some escalation people.
  12. While I do agree about the differences between both a member of command and also an AI, I will disagree about an entire separate whitelist initiated just for the position. Why? It's highly impracticable to set up another whitelist standard, a team of review, and older more veteran players who I understand KNOW how to play AI correctly and efficiently I doubt would enjoy filing another application. How would it be enforced? Formatted? It sounds like a 'prove yourself worthy'" We ALREADY have a whitelist system in place that proves your worth. Why throw one job into a separate whitelist? At the end of the day, regardless of AI having its own whitelist or not, you are STILL proving your worth, and why you should be allowed the privilege to guide RP. That is what the command whitelist in essence is. This is why we do not have whitelists for every single head of staff position. The AI, despite it not having command authorization, still plays a major role in the entire round and generally we lock these roles behind the whitelist. Like many other positions of power, having a command whitelist DOES NOT force you to be perfect. No one expects a captain to be perfect, why should one expect the AI to be perfect? I do not see the harm in locking the position behind a restriction, then when they prove themselves for the whitelist, the experience and learning will start. That is why we have a trial system. It is not a system forcing you to play like a two year captain main, it is a system that tests how open minded you are to mistakes, and your attitude to fixing your issues and improving yourself to make a positive impact. Certainly, I was never perfect, and my first head of staff character was simply shit. I believe this can be applied in principle to the AI. Yes, you may be shit at first, there is no magical button to weed 100% of bad AI play, but I know for certain a filter like the command whitelist will substantially improve it. People don't lose whitelists for playing shit, they lose it on the bases of repeated pattern of behavior and disregard for improvement unless they purposely and obviously disregarded the rules both server and what is expected. AI whitelist behind command whitelist would allow an open board for people to criticize and make opinions during the trial period. If someone gets the whitelist for an AI, then people are able to criticize and make opinions.
  13. fuk u TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY
  14. All your links don't work, wjere tf dp O put my fucking credit card
  15. Why can't I buy 100 of these
  16. Could we add to the research requirement so you need certain things regardless other then minerals to build one? For example, when the rail gun was a thing it needed a really high combat level.
  17. Personally, as these points have been addressed too, the AI should be placed under command whitelist. The main argument is "AI is not command, don't treat it as such" and I understand that. Keep in mind, the whitelist is designed to filter people who play the MOST round influencing positions and AI regardless is a massive influencing force on the entire round as a whole. Perhaps just under captain depending on how skillful they are. A shit AI who seeks valids and watches people based on meta-information may seriously damage a round. Malf AI: I can both see the pro's and cons of having a white-list in place. The con obviously, if we decide to not make malf AI follow the same whitelist, people who roll it would freshly experience the AI as a malf and they wouldn't exactly have any understanding on how to play. Regardless, if malf AI follows the same whitelist, then of course I believe naturally the quality of these rounds would be improved. It depends how many command-whitelisted players are readied with malf AI enabled. In short, this would actually make it the ONLY whitelisted antag. Is that good? Is that bad? I can't decide. The only other perspective I could think about is enabling traitor for AI, and giving it malf abilities while disabling malf. Perhaps disable auto-traitor eligibility and it can only be traitor from round start.
  18. I would rather be running from shrapnel that you can survive versus running from a 120/120 potassium water grenade that has the chance to gib, blow off a limb, and lock you down inside a vented area.
  19. Yes, let's replace frag grenades with something near useless and gives you the ability to cause breaches and gib people without breaking into science. Frag grenades aren't even that bad tbh. They are a great area of denial.
  20. Heard it once before, once again, ling is shit, yady yada yada blah blah blah here is a suggestion to make ling less-garbage and me the motivation to finally tick ling on inside my preferences. Total DNA: Like total blood, but with DNA points. (Plus the option to either kill or not) You can kill someone for 4-5 DNA points, and not kill them for like 3 DNA points added to your total amount. Killing someone: It husks them like a normal boring ling Not killing: It leaves a massive gaping hole in someones chest and genetic damage, perhaps some scanner fluff text saying that there is a large hole. Like vampire, it wipes the memory of the encounter and it will give enough time for someone to get up and seek help before they turn dead. Let them have about 30 seconds of unconscious so the ling has the ability to get the fuck out of dodge before they wake. Bonus points if bold red text is added when you examine them. THEY HAVE A MASSIVE HOLE IN THEIR CHEST Perhaps the mind wipe, the person is given the text "You remember nothing of your encounter with [ling] except the feeling of great pain and horrific sights" This will leave someone, while not exactly knowing what happened to them, with the chance to flip shit and maybe go insane with fear. Make bodies give only 2-3 DNA points so medical can't gouge on the morgue freely and get massive reward. Like vampire, the more you eat, the more powers you will unlock until you reach your 'full power' AKA horror form. You start with a choice that will help you start your journey. Silence Sting Blind Sting Deaf Sting Digital Camouflage 3 DNA points total: Transformation Sting Unfat Sting Lesser Form 5 DNA points total: Arm Blade - Shield The three previous choices you did not pick. Boost Range 8 DNA points total: Rapid Chemical Synthesis Engorged Chemical Glands Hallucination Sting Epinephrine Sacs 10 DNA points total: Paralysis sting Rapid Regeneration 15 DNA Points Death Sting 18 DNA Points Horror Form Please, ling needs to be shifted away from being required to kill MASS amounts of people just to unlock a few abilities. While vampire is a 'pleasant' encounter and the mind side of things, this is the body horror where all someone remembers is the pain they experienced and gives the chance for medical and security to piece together a 'monster' inside the shafts once multiple people turn up with holes in their chest.
  21. Breaking into the vault undetected is actually a positive challenge with great reward. TCs are a fantastic reward because RNG may not be on your side. The vault has lethal turrets, everyone who walks by the vault can instantly see if the turrets are ever off, and other conventional ways like welding in from space creates sound. Plus once entered, it straight away tells the station bounds. It can be a fun challenge really to not get caught. Especially with the teleporter dangers, you are pretty cornered if security mobilizes. I actually don't see much traitors buying the high expensive items with the TC in the vault like the gatling gun and AM rifle.
  22. Alright, I'm going to point some stuff out. In short, I do not support the removal of the AM rifle for previous points above. This was a one time round occurrence where a mercenary was shooting security and other nerds with an expensive sniper. In fact, it also serves as a great counter against highly dangerous mechs such as durands and gygaxes that I know for certain every robotisist loves to build. In fact, it only carries 2 shots, if I'm not mistaken, you have to ready the bullet, it's HIGHLY expensive and you are required to chip in extra TCs or break into the vault if you want any chance to get more ammo. I don't think suddenly blood and gore exploding from your chest is 'silent' and it is pretty obvious when it comes into play. How often do you see it? I actually don't see it as often as you over exaggerate its frequency of use. Clearly your understanding of the 'biggest' fish is skewed. I see science and its guns a lot more frequently then the AMR. Don't take this as me wanting to nerf science. The AMR actually provides a good counter against the big guns I know you and other robotisists love to hand to security. I actually see sec getting a fully loaded durand more then the AMR. I mean, yesterday during that merc round, I didn't instantly die and I got shot like three times. I had enough time to scream "S-N-N-I-P-E-R" in comms. Just because it has the potential to gank doesn't mean it should be removed. If you feel like someone is shooting down the hall with an AMR indiscriminately at people for no reason, then ahelp. There are multiple weapons with the ability to gank if used correctly. I will agree on one thing though, remove the hitscan. Personally, hit scan should be removed regardless on all guns, but that isn't the topic of this discussion. Antags in general causes bad behavior Burger. I will repeat once again, this is why we have staff. In general, if you want to nerf one 'potential to gank weapon' then you need to look at the entire list that is potentially in every weapon. Edit: Fuck, tons of people wrote while I was typing this. I'm just going to point out again that Burger is over exaggerating its frequency. I've only seen it, and really died to it, on the merc round from yesterday.
  23. I played a little bit of that new ss13 inspired game called 'stationeers' as it involves system logic and stuff to even set up solars to power your APC and stuff. Rimworlds also cool yo
  24. We already have hand held sensors. Ask science to make a tablet or laptop for you and install the program.
  25. The only slight thing I can think of this is it provides medical an easy way to know when someone is being succed in maint, but you can always turn off suit sensors on someone and it will stop this so it will provide greater importance. Sounds cool +1
