Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Serveris6 Character Name(s): (Those currently active) Aiden Taryk, Vur K'rlislav, Leo Wyatt, Eris Reed, Razzan G'rrsi, Misilithais Uaekis, Praetorian, Calvin Miller, (L/)Tpr. Fitch AI Name(s): ntOS Preferred means of contact: Skype, Steam Age:23 Timezone: Eastern Standard Time When are you on Aurora?: Whenever I have time; it varies in accordance to work and school. If any particular time is needed, I can probably be flexible enough to fill it. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Running on nearly six years now. How long have you played on Aurora: One year, two months. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: Enough to code them, and read the code for them. A little over half of my total SS13 experience has been based off of a baystation platform. I understand all the departmental mechanics with full confidence. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Yes. I was a former Primary Administrator (This would have been the equivalent rank in Aurora's ranking system) on the D2K5 server, roughly three years ago. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?:No, never. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play it because I enjoy the community, and it gives me something quiet to do in the evenings. I do it because I enjoy it as a whole. Why do you play on Aurora?: I play on Aurora for the same reasons stated in my previous application. I enjoy the community, and out of all the other SS13 servers I have accustomed to over the years and spent my time, I feel Aurora has had the most constructive energy put into it, and believe it is much more fun because of this. The lore is excellent, and the staff are friendly. Generally a very positive place to be, most of the time. What do moderators do?: Moderators are expected to moderate the community. Resolve conflict, and mediate issues in an official capacity. Act as a representative of the server, and ensure that OOC rules are being enforced properly and fairly. Provide positive feedback where needed. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To be a moderator on Aurora would be much the same as to be a moderator as I have described them above. An Aurora Moderator would be expected to maintain some degree of professionalism in handling issues, and also ensure that any issues they are charged with mediating be done so efficiently and in the most fair way possible for all involving parties, with as much patience as whatever the problem may require. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I'm attempting to wean more towards actively assisting the server's staff while I'm actually online the server, because as it turns out, working outside of the server (as in, through dev work or assisting the lore team), is difficult due to the fact that I can usually only work when I am online, and whilst online, I would normally be playing on the server anyway. Multiple admins, retired and otherwise, have requested that I apply for a moderator position due to a large portion of enforcement staff having recently been retired, and I am willing to answer their calls and provide assistance. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I am capable of analyzing a problem, and then working out a practical, logical approach to handling it. I pride myself in being a very logic-heavy thinker, and do enjoy investigative work. I have no qualms devoting time and energy towards solving disputes between the community in an OOC atmosphere, but would rather do it whilst I am on the server, whilst also providing feedback where it is requested. I am capable of calmly explaining a problem to people, and prefer to explain to them why it a problem, rather than outright punishing them for it. I much prefer a policy of explaining why what someone did needs improvement, rather than simply punishing it for them and moving on. I personally feel this is the best way to rehabilitate and ensure the issue will not occur again in the future. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Stress is something that I can easily handle through an online medium. Insults and the like over the internet have never bothered me. Being patient, I've found, is the best way to handle all three of these items. Anything Else You Want to Add:

You're going to kill the waste loop by doing this. You get backed up off of 3000-4000kPA being syphoned off at once, and it'll take 30mins for that to clean out (yes, even with pump optimizations to move the waste loop faster). For reference, the departures lounge is roughly 14,000kPA of pressure overall? I've completely filled it from vacuum to 101kPA with a 14,000kPA pump before, so my estimations may not be exact, but they're very close. So yeah. You have fun with this. Please don't do it on the main server, though. It's going to take hours to completely drain, as Keinto said. The problem doesn't lie in the station's distribution systems; you can easily refill the rooms with a bit of legwork. The gas disposal system for this map simply wasn't designed to ensure stressful amounts of siphoning. At all.

Yes, please. Would definitely like to see more sheltered tajara. There's not nearly enough, and the few that I've seen were superb. My experiences with them have been by far the best interactions with the tajara species, and I definitely would not mind more, and as someone who's roleplayed closely with Delta on numerous occasions, I can safely give them my vote of confidence.

Regular players cannot see DOs on staffwho. You need a staff ranking for them to appear on the listing.

Nah it's a fruit. (Pump gave me his account to use as an alt, shhh) Am I seeing a ghost?

Xelnagahunter's Tajaran Application
Serveris replied to Xelnagahunter's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I enjoy the unique flavor that QWERTY brings to the IPC community. I would be willing to support giving him a chance to play as a tajaran, as I'm sure he can be depended on to provide the same standard to this new character. -

I play them/adopted the character, but Keinto created them. Didn't seem right to use it completely as mine. 99.9% of the character was built by him. I've just been filling his shoes the past four months or so! -
BYOND Key: Serveris6 Character Names: Syrus Seto, Leo Wyatt, Praetorian, Misilithais Uaekis, Eris Reed, Aiden Taryk, Tpr. Fitch, Bolts, Keaton Fulbright Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Arctic white. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always found the tajaran race to be the most enriched as far as lore goes. I'm interested in playing as a M'sai tajaran, because I've been looking into getting involved in tajaran RP for a while now. Additionally, I would like to try and improve the general view on tajara by playing as a respected member of the species. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The tajara experienced a violent revolution thirty years ago, and as a result, are generally distrusted and looked down upon by human society, generally considered cheap labor, as well as being fair bait for racist remarks. Additionally, they bear numerous biological differences, with tajara closely resembling felines. Character Name: Vadim Grassi Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Vadim was born to an impoverished family in D'sa'ral shortly before first contact with humanity was made, where his immediate family served the nobility in their fortified dwellings for the most part. Early into their childhood, the tajaran uprisings took place, with most of the Grassi clan siding with the rebel forces, Vadim was left in a dangerous position. Shortly after the first riots took place, he was sent to live at an inn owned by extended family in a more rural area while the conflict blew over. Following the end of the revolution, despite the rebel victory, nearly all of the Grassi family had been killed, leaving him with little future on his homeworld. For the next odd thirty years, he took to remaining within the outskirts of D'sa'ral, taking possession of the property that had been his home once the rest of his family died off. Eventually, he came to accept that his future on Ahdomai was limited. After selling off what heirlooms and property left to his family, he set off to leave Ahdomai behind, and retreat back onto the fringes of Tau Ceti, looking to take advantage of a lifestyle that living alongside humanity may provide. What do you like about this character? The potential for playing a tajaran character reasonably ignorant of the finer details of human, unathi, and skrell culture, however with a desire to interact with them more. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Reasonably well. I usually base that on other people's opinions. Notes:

How is this significant to defining the character or enhancing possibility for roleplay at all? It's literally just another clothing item to stick out from everyone else, akin to the forty generic trenchcoats that people are already shuffling around in.

This. After speaking with Tish, we'd worked out a plan for cutting down the backlog. I've just been waiting on the green light to proceed with working for several weeks now. Anytime we can get that cleared, Sierra and me can get things underway, I would think.

..Mooooooooost private security workers wear protective vests whilst on standard operations duty. It's usually a requirement in that line of work. We currently have restrictions against wearing helmets on code green, which is considerably more understandable. I see very little reason why this should change. Can you provide more than 'lol why is this even a thing?' as to why you think it SHOULDN'T be?

Ckey/BYOND Username:Serveris6 Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter):Coder Past Experiences/Knowledge: Former Aurora coder, former D2K5 coder/mapper Examples of Past Work: Several custom items PRs pushed out towards the beginning of the year. Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.):Skype, Steam, Server itself Additional Comments: Yes, I did resign from this very same position earlier this year. At the time, I felt I was unable to adequately keep up with the demand for custom items at the time, in addition to several other projects I decided/was asked to assist with, all of this in addition to school-related pressures (exams, school fees, new housing arrangements, getting all my registration stuff in for the next semester). Hence the greatly diminished work output in the last month or so of my being involved in the dev team. I feel things have calmed down enough to the point that I can resume work at a much more stable pace from here onwards, now that all of that is dealt with. Additionally, I did not expect custom items development to completely up and die when I left. This would be my primary focus, were this to start back up. I've already spoken with TishinaStalker over the past few weeks and outlined a plan for cutting through the backlog (which, I believe, is already being carried out.)
