  1. I, Dr. Noel Tettering, Chief Engineer, Engineering, Nuclear Engine Design and Advanced Atmospherics, would like to join SAMPLe, as the Engineering division chairman .
  2. After reviewing your notes and the incident with the other administrators, it had been decided that a 5 day ban is a tad bit excessive. In light of this, we will be reducing the ban to 2880 minutes, or 48 hours. The point being, you did indeed make a mistake here, and given your past notes, a ban is in order at this place. Where administration disagrees with the banning moderator, however, is with the severity. They have been spoken to regarding this. The issue is now considered closed. If you have any further comments or concerns, please PM me directly. Thank you.
  3. How is a keycard authentication supposed to work in situations (like deadhour) where there's only one member of command staff? This would greatly overcompensate a situation that, as some people have said, could be dire. One might suggest this single head of staff taking the spare ID in an emergency, and loaning a crew member either their personal ID and the spare, then calling the shuttle that way, but I can't see this being something CC would overlook in planning or endorse. It just seems like faulty planning. Although I agree a rework could be interesting.
  4. Precisely, and Raven was spoken to concerning the importance of taking into account other viewpoints before acting. I couldn't agree with you more.
  5. To be frank, if I was burning alive, carefully opening and closing firelocks would probably be the least of my concerns to getting out of the fire and finding a fire extinguisher. Making sure I was going to survive would take priority over me getting sweet vengeance. Moving to medical afterwards would also have been a smart-move. Simply food for thought, should any similar issues occur.
  6. Okay. In a shellnut, I can see why Nikov acted as he did in this incident, and honestly, do not find any major fault in it. That being said, from Raven's perspective, I can fully understand why this course of action would be perceived as a lack of PainRP, or validhunting. The execution to this perception appears to be the flaw here, and we are willing to correct it. The issue for which the warning was issued was, from how it appears, a classic 'fight or flight' scenario. While exercising self-preservation over pursuing hostiles is preferred, it's understandable that you figured the hardsuit would protect you, and you already had a gun in your hand, so you acted immediately on impulse, which is a situation that moderators should take into account before deciding on taking action, as this doesn't immediately indicate that the player is in the wrong for doing so. I will remove the warning when I'm on later this evening. As per Raven's views on the matter, as stated previously, I understand where he was coming from. If you're ever put into a similar situation, your immediate priority should be the safety of yourself. The fact that you chose to immediately engage the cyborg over trying to get to safety doesn't look very good for your intentions. I will speak with Raven concerning this incident, and leave this open for another 12 hours, so that those of you involved may share your thoughts on this before I speak to Skull about concluding it.
  7. Right, after speaking with Skull concerning these, and reading the briefs provided by Icuris concerning security's involvement in this, there are a couple points that administration would like addressed concerning the incident. Point one. Prior to the alleged incident noted in this complaint, it's come to our attention that Raven had begun speaking to Nikov prior to the incident with the borg and the plasma canister, and prior to the attacking of the core turrets. Why? What were the original issues that lead to this? Where did Raven's original focus on this incident first take place? How did it start? As stated by Raven, the warning was issued for neglecting painRP whilst engaging the cyborg, not for the core assault itself. Point two. While hardsuited, the plasma canister was opened and set ablaze. Manfred, whom was shielded from the fire by said hardsuit, immediately retaliated by engaging the cyborg. Why is this deemed a lack of FearRP, and not a reasonable response to having been set on fire? Because by my judgement, this is a pretty reasonable use of force in reprisal. He had the means and the justification to defend himself after being set on fire. He was also protected from the initial fire in itself, again, due to having been wearing protective gear beforehand.
  8. Have a taj that I decided to take a break from; IC reasoning behind it being they were drafted into the People' Liberation Army (yay, communism). Don't really know if I'll ever end up playing them again.
  9. Tone down on the peanut gallery, please. This is not the place to post your opinions on any of those involved. This is where evidence and discussion pertaining to a singular incident is shared. EDIT: After being approached by forum mods, I'm going to temporarily lock this topic. Give me 24 hours. I'll bring this up with the others, and we'll decide how to proceed from there. This is something that needs to be discussed among them, and I'm not keen on seeing it get more muddled and clogged up than it already has been.
  10. Hence why Raven handled it, and not Jenna. Plenty of antagonists run around doing sneaky antics, and only at the end of the round realize that they haven't done much to engage the crew as a whole. Breaking bad as the shuttle is docked gets them banned as well. I stepped in departures right behind everyone else, and was greeted with the severed head of an officer lying in an airlock (of course I already knew he was killed post-docking; due to the moderator attack logs coming in). I step to the shuttle entrance, and quietly observe that most everyone in the room is covered in blood and holding switchblades, cultblades, hatchets; some variety of weapon. As I'm typing up a "WTF-esque" message, and notifying the head of security that everyone here was armed via security comms, one of your cultlings, I can't remember the exact name, but they were using a hatchet, walks up, and takes a swing at me. It misses. This is when I pulled my sidearm out, and Buch and I started shooting strictly non-lethal rounds at those standing between us and the portside entrance to the bridge. The two in our way scattered, and we ran in, exchanged a few words, and asked Raven if he was around in msay while we had a moment of respite before the cult chose to breakdown the bridge windows, and re-engage us, mid-shuttle transit. This entire situation was entirely unnecessary, and being here as long as you have should have known better. Rather for reasoning being pursuing greentext or not, this is a violation of a posted server rule, as I know as a long-term community member, you are fully aware.
  11. This reminds me vaguely of the backstory behind Leo Wyatt's clothing. Both the trenchcoat and hat are authentic 1960s apparel that was eventually stored in an air tight case, however, due to (admittedly, an incredulous amount of selfishness) Leo took it upon himself to remove them, thus re-igniting their dying process again, simply because he believed if he loved something, he should get to enjoy it more outside of a box. I think I still have a link of that full short story, if anyone's interested. Regarding this application, I don't see any fault in it. Obviously, if granted, I would expect Siganto to avoid putting it at risk, and probably just keep it locked in his office the entire time. Definitely not be wearing it somewhere you would be expecting to take laserfire.
  12. It was not automated. It was applied by myself, due to you failing to adhere to the warning. (And server rules.)
  13. As a note, action will be decided once you acknowledge my original reply.
  14. Reporting Personnel:Jade Maerin Rank of Reporting Personnel: Security Officer, Level 1 Personnel Involved: Booker, Detective; Kiat'Vonten Akero'Shenal, Head of Security; Juan Siganto, Warden; Ickthar Slithiss, Head of Personnel Time of Incident: (If unable to provide, leave blank) 0700hrs Real time: 2200-0000 EST Location of Incident: Bar, Head of Personnel's office, Kitchen, Prison Wing Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury [X]Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty [X]Harassment [X]Assault [X]Misconduct [X]Other (Assault of a head of staff with a deadly weapon/Attempted murder) Overview of the Incident: Nia Snyder, whom is currently suspended from the security team, was working aboard the NSS Aurora as a Bartender. As I was gearing up, over the radio, I heard Nia Snyder yelling at the head of personnel, Ickthar Slithiss, who came and moved his departmental charge, Pun Pun, directly into his office, presumably over favor of Ian. Snyder immediately declared over communications that she would chase down the head of personnel and shoot him if he did not return the monkey immediately. He did not do so, so using her issued shotgun (which is permitted only in her possession within the confines of the bar), and went to the head of personnel's office, shooting out an office window in an attempt to gain entry. Slithiss subdued her non-lethally using his sidearm, and Snyder was remanded into security custody and demoted to Assistant. After being released, she proceeded to trespass into the kitchen, present there against the captain's orders. Myself and a several officers responded to the scene, where Snyder continued to be verbally abrasive and passively resisting arrest, however did not resist my restraining her and transporting her to the brig, where she served a trespassing charge supported by arrest warrant. After being released a second time, she kept quiet for roughly twenty minutes, however frequently promising the head of personnel that she was going to get her monkey back, one way or the other, lacing these promises with threats and implications, before passing by the bar, I noticed a large brawl taking place between Snyder, a doctor, and a chef - with Snyder having broken the chef's foot as confirmed by medical staff present at the time. The Head of Security witnessed this, with the Chief Medical Officer, R. Pershing, entering towards the end of it as those restrained were dragged to the brig - Snyder and the chef specifically. It was here, in processing, that she began to accuse the head of security of causing the wounds to the chef that she had caused herself in the bar fight - attempting to discredit her arrest and slander the head of security, although, naturally, could not prove anything more than insisting on it over the radio. Snyder was brigged for assault and resisting arrest, for approximately thirty minutes. During this sentence, my supervisor, the Head of Security Kiat'Vonten Akero'Shenal entered the communal brig to prepare Snyder for transfer to the crew transfer shuttle, as per procedures. I was sitting nearby, at the brig front desk, when I heard what sounded like tearing, followed by a scream. I stepped around to the observation window, and saw blue-colored blood on the floor, and more dripping from the head of security. At this point, she drew her sidearm, and began to fire at Snyder, and declared to me that Snyder had stabbed her. At this point, I engaged the floor-mounted flashers in the communal brig, and she was quickly subdued and successfully transferred off-station. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or IAA? If so, who?: Kiat'Vonten Akero'Shenal, Head of Security Additional notes: Names of those that were simply referred to by rank can likely be specified in greater detail upon request.
  15. An administrator declared a warning in very large font nearly a minute before you started attacking yourself. You along with anyone else that produced an attack log against another player with malevolent intentions was banned instantly, no questions asked, due to this warning having already been provided. In the future, please heed instructions from staff. The round ending is no excuse to murder yourself or other people. You are fully expected to maintain character.
  16. Right. After speaking with Raven, it has been decided that the reasoning behind this ban is indeed justified. That being said, in light of it being the first antag ban applied in response to the aforementioned and respective notes, the ban will be lessened to three weeks, and then left to expire. Warnings thus far appear to have been ineffective, given repeat offenses. Further violations of antagonist expectations could very well result in an antag ban being reapplied in the future with a heavy penalty. This request is considering resolved. Locking and archiving. Cheerio.
  17. I personally feel like Jboy was kind of grasping at straws concerning this warning reason. There've definitely been things deserving of forum moderator action, but I'm having trouble really justifying the means to this. Yes, he (Delta) could've worded it more eloquently, but I fail to see this as a 'personal attack' worthy of issuing a warning over. At worst, edit the two words out of the entire post and move on with your day.
  18. With the retirement of SenpaiShadow/Itzal, I've been left alone during deadhour. I'm expressing a personal interest in those that would be available at this time. I'll speak with my colleagues; in the event that you're trialled, I would be available and willing to help you with your conditioning, as deadhour, as you may guess, is slower for staff. It would be an excellent time to help you get your bearings and for a closer mentoring process.
  19. Would you be willing to dedicate more of your time to dead hour? (You noted in your application that you usually play during this time; and I've noticed you usually frequent the second half of dead hour.)
  20. I've noticed you usually frequent the later half of dead hour. Do you have any sort of job, university coursework, or any type of activity that takes up the majority of your time that reflects this? Where does server dead hour usually fall on your schedule of 1230 and 2200?
  21. Recruitment has ceased, and the SIIB completely dissolved, following numerous treasonous firebombings. Long live the resistance!
  22. Interesting character layout, and what's more, I do indeed recognize your name. I think this shows potential, and has my support.
  23. Applicant interview, posted for public review at applicant's discretion: http://pastebin.com/0S9K7XYg Now for my onions. Applicant provided intelligent, well-thought out answers in response to the questions, and shows great potential as a moderator, and possibly, one day, as an administrator. They certainly have the right level-headed approach to issues. Following completion of the interview, I would be willing to support Loow in a trial moderator run. +1.
  24. BYOND Key: Serveris6 Character Names: Aiden Taryk, Kas'yrr Ta'kim, Cruz Ssali, Leo Wyatt, Telis G'nosis, Talan Qu'tup, Misilithais Uaekis, Jade Maerin, Yekker, Razzan G'rssi, Noel Tettering, Sub Officer Alaric. (Those still active.) Species you are applying to play: Diona What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I'm looking to expand my repitoire; this is one of few whitelists I don't have, and I'm looking to expand into it. We don't have enough trees walking around these days. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Diona are probably the most different from standard humans in the sense that they are only vaguely humanoid. They are a collection of plant cells, that form a full bodied-bipedal walking organism, wholly dependant on light for photosynthesis and day-to-day survivial, while also enjoying longevity benefits when immersed in doses of radiation. Character Name: A Shivering Silhouette Amidst Stars Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Originally a resident of Venter's Satellite, A Shivering Silhouette Admist Stars lived there for nearly two dozen years, after growing out of nymphhood, originally never having traveled away from it until having been selected for work within the Sol Alliance, and summarily being transferred out of its biomass, and employed and housed in Lowell City, Mars, having been staffed with the city's maintenance department as an apprentice for several years, before finally being deployed into the sewers and lower levels, charged with looking after day-to-day maintenance, working contentedly on the taxpayer's dollar for twenty-odd years, adapting to living with other species and attaining fluency in several humanoid languages. Due to budget cuts within the city's public works department, numerous technicians were laid off, including A Shivering Silhouette Amidst Stars. After living unemployed for several months within Lowell City, burning off savings attained during their tenure in the public sector for living expenses as long as possible, they set out to leave the system - to New Gibson, Tau Ceti, hoping to find more work with their hands. After a cursory job search, they netted a position within the Nanotrasen Engineering Department, having attained qualifications as an atmospherics and maintenance technician, where they have been employed for eight years. What do you like about this character? They will be one of my few characters that spent the majority of their life within the Sol Alliance; ironically, as a non-human. Additionally, I've always admired having non-human engineers, and diona look very entertaining for the role, as such, I am looking forward to being able to play as them. How would you rate your role-playing ability? As I've said in my numerous other applications for species whitelists, I still really don't believe it's my place to judge how well I fit in roles, so I'll leave this open to community interpretation oncemore. Notes: *Rustle rustle rustle*
  25. Neither players for Ziva nor Vira have complained. Eat shit.
