1. You barely said anything of substance so no, I couldn't assume that you understood that. Because you blew me off by not responding to me seriously. It is not just about arguing! What can I say to emphasize further as to how important it is to be taking communication attempts from staff seriously, to an extent that you'd understand?
2. "Not as satisfying?" Is that what you're accusing me of? No. I doubled the ban because I have zero tolerance for childish responses and a player refusal to recognize toxic behavior. If you had said, "Sorry", even if you didn't mean it, it would've radically changed the outcome to a warning. If you had said, "You're right, I apologize and will stop," this shows me you recognize that you should've exercised restraint and understand you were being an asshole and you'll do better. What you did instead was not verbally recognize this and think it wouldn't matter what you said since you thought you were going to be banned anyway, so you chose not to try to have a discussion or own up to any degree of culpability. And then add onto you being rude and standoffish in your response to me. Yes, you can do that in one word, that is how powerful context is. I have zero obligation to just take that attitude. It is rude and childish. Resorting to blame me for how you respond to other people is ridiculous.
3. It wasn't a rhetorical question. I 100% expected you to answer it sincerely and you turned around and gave me an insincere answer and didn't reply for minutes after that, focused your attention further by flinging deadchat abuse the way of the antagonists that killed you (as you usually do). You are aware that staff recognize this as a common issue with you, yes? Isn't it counter-intuitive to appeal a ban if you're going to have this attitude? If you actually attempted to engage in a discussion with me by being honest the ban duration would not be as long. I was legitimately hoping you would actually discuss these issues with me instead of blowing me off. "I would rather take a ban rather than waste time with this discussion" is an awfully immature way to handle interactions with staff members, and I'm not sure what you expect to accomplish with this ban appeal if you've already shown you don't care whether or not you get banned either. Do you really want to be unbanned? Because the signs don't quite show it. I did double it because it was snarky the way you responded. It shows you have little care for talking. Ergo, if you show you think the discussion is a waste of time by the way you phrase your response, then I don't need to waste my time either. And perhaps you think your time on this server is also a waste of time, and we do not need to oblige you to waste your time and ours by acting in this rather destructive way. Isn't that fair? Yes, you absolutely should've "argued" with it. I have been known to be lenient and retract statements of how long a ban is going to be if someone decides they're going to be more responsive. I have been known to not be lenient when the subject of discussion decides they aren't going to interact at all. No, you shouldn't have silently logged off for it because it would've caused the same effect. If you want to play on this server and have fun with it, you need to recognize it's a necessary requirement to actually respond to staff no matter how they engage you. Ignoring them and choosing to selectively respond to deadchat to fling more crap at (which you have a history of doing) will net you a ban. The only regret I have was that I didn't have the opportunity to engage in a proper discussion with you due to how you reacted. I resorted to the measure I displayed because I knew it'd be a waste of my time and yours given how you reacted to my attempts at communication.
4. Alright, I'll accept this application. Halloway is not to be a head of staff though without prior discussion with myself or the other two head whitelisters, this character should be used first.
5. I'll review the case and make a decision tomorrow.
6. I was very much against the idea that it was a misunderstanding, considering you have past history of this sort of OOC conduct and mockery of other players. This was not just an isolated incident, by the way, I didn't decide to hand out a warning and a OOC mute just because of the pun alone. You escalated a discussion to amazingly inappropriate proportions to the point where a player voiced their serious discomfort with it and asked for it to be stopped. I asked you and the rest of OOC to stop. You then continued with that pun, which its phrasing was certainly no accident considering the phrasing. I find it very difficult to believe it was coincidence. Restraint and the ability to return to a degree of sensible maturity is really important for a player to have. What you said implies you haven't learned anything from this event here, and that you don't care one bit about your issues with restraint. Why should I remove a warning from your account over behavior you refuse to acknowledge?
7. Which is funny, considering how easy it is to pull up notes of a particular individual on the spot, either on-server or from the discord bot. I'm not sure why they didn't help you, perhaps things got busy. That being said, the job-ban was placed by IncognitoJesus who has since resigned due to personal reasons and school encroaching on his available time. Banned from Captain - Continuously joining as HoS on a character that was permanently barred from holding the position of HoS or Captain. See: https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=2069&p=78270&hilit=dvorsky#p78270 Apparently you cannot see that, though. I've little idea as to whether you still have access to that subforum or not (it actually seems not, I'll have Sharp fix it) but the general gist of it was this character was barred from filling the role of either HoS or Captain due to related misconduct. Either this wasn't made aware to you, or otherwise. So perhaps it was a mistake of communication. I'd like your thoughts before I proceed further.
8. The thermal drill's been hit with a dispersion effect similar to the gatling laser. It acts similarly but is much less effective in killing people now. Once dev is merged with master it'll be hit with the nerf bat once and for all.
9. An inability to be honest as an individual makes you hard to trust, and we need to be able to trust our own to tell the truth and do our job for the right reasons. I have more reason to distrust you than otherwise, given the extensive history of having lied to staff over certain things and a lot of the powerplay attempts you tried to create. That's a sign of compulsive-manipulative behavior and that kind of attitude is very destructive. There's no benefit to our team by taking on someone who has a record of being manipulative for the wrong reasons.
10. I find this entire progression of events hilarious, in terms of this snippet of logs here. Yeah, the case against hive is really flimsy at best.
11. Considering Hypatia was forced extended 24/7... Is this supposed to be a compelling point somehow, BSA? Should we pity the person whose name was not mentioned just because they got caught in the crossfire in a game where death is cheap, common and expected? Not surprised they soured to the idea of antagonists considering the complete lack of them before that server died off. Antagonists of the lifeblood of SS13. Much as I hate to say this, this server is not for everyone. The pacing, style, etc, is not for everyone. We do not enforce an absurd amount of RP seriousness nor do we force people to go down a list before they can escalate to kill people as an antagonist. While unfortunate they decided Aurora was not their taste, life goes on with or without them, as does this server. I don't think it's wrong to pursue fun in this game. You do as you wish within reason, without undermining the quality of roleplay to an egregious extent, and without being a detriment to everyone else playing. Imo I think the clown mask probably should've been passed over for something more serious. But beyond that, Hive did not necessarily murderbone. If you watch the video the majority of the confrontations consist of non-antagonists thinking it wise to try and bring down a known armed madman with a clown mask that has killed individuals already. It was a shame I wasn't there to have a nice chat with each person that decided it was a good idea to rush a deadly antagonist with no regard for their own lives. But their deaths are enough to suffice, really. A lot of the killings were reactive rather than proactive. The proactive murders were executed in an interesting fashion such as the officer being hung and killed with the detective being PDAed about the matter. In regards to the reactive murders: Tough luck. If you charge someone with intent to take them down or kill them, the person you are pursuing is well within their rights to fight back and survive by any reasonable means necessary. If this means double-tapping to ensure they don't need to watch their own back for 3 other individuals, then so be it. It's unrealistic to expect the entire scene to be paused by both parties so they can enact in some riveting turn-based emote combat. Gameplay would be boring with text-only fighting. People are expected to run away in certain situations, by the way. They're expected to roleplay hesitation, fear, other emotions that adds flaws to character decisions yet helps them sustain themselves in the round for longer than if they decided to seek an opportunity to risk their own life or seriously piss off a murderous son-of-a-bitch who has resources to off anyone that messes with them. But I guess people don't care since they can get cloned anyway, huh? This whole round seemed to have turned into a massacre only because the pursuers decided not to attempt in engaging in dialogue and chose instead to fight. Their bad judgement call, not Hive's fault. Does it suck for the majority of people to get killed by the same antagonist? Yes, I am sure it does, but being part of a good sport is learning to take the good with the bad and understand your characters are not intended to survive the round but survival is ultimately an objective that should be pursued above any other concern. Granted, the whole clown mask thing as a disguise just seems lacking in taste and interest to me. More of a personal opinion than anything else. Hive's comment about "don't cry just because you lost" has a ring of truth to it and people should probably abide by that standard although Hive knows better than to characterize people as infantile. So if that behavior is going to continue instead of trying to be more cordial even when people are being unnecessarily angry, all this does is feed a hostile, toxic cycle where involved parties get more and more upset at one another over a video game. Cool your jets, Hive. You know better. I expect the other participants in this thread will get back on track to allow for further discussion and be just as cordial and polite as I described. If you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all. This is a public forum where everyone and anyone can see you having a fit. Don't give one another ammunition that needn't be fired at each other.
12. As far as I'm concerned, this reflects extremely badly on your stated intentions so far. A refusal to listen is, again, one of the worst things to see in subordinates but much worse to see in leaders. Could've fooled me, Marcus did not seem to respect that their own head of staff was expecting a professional attitude from them. Then Marcus should've arrested them on the spot, not doing the search first. No, it is a complex device to someone without engineering expertise, which Marcus has none of. He wouldn't even have ID access to that alarm. How would he know what those modes do? Computers and other devices such as the cloner pod need actual IC justification to understand how to use. Just because cloning is pressing two buttons doesn't mean it is that simple ICly. The final airlock would not open just because the airlock controller forced open the first and second airlocks. The airlock controller only controls the first two sets of airlocks, and the southern umbilical docking arm did not complete its air cycling. Marcus broke a window the moment the airlocks finally opened up the shuttle to finalize docking procedures, effectively making a wasted effort and damaging station property. The airlocks being forced open would indefinitely delay the shuttle until the matter was fixed and if the shuttle was forced, the departures wing would be vented. Seeing this kind of escalation and lack of critical thinking to plan ahead is a really bad trait to see in a potential head of staff. Retaining my opposition. Marcus is definitely not qualified to be a head of staff. You have the chance to edit your application and use another character for the role. Note that if this is accepted and you say you plan to use a different character but play Marcus as HoS anyway, it is grounds for an immediate whitelist strip and other potential administrative action if it's an issue.
13. Otherwise not impressed so far with Marcus as a subordinate. Round ID bQQ-dHFb as testimony. 1. During a short briefing that lasted like 10 minutes tops, Marcus was seen emoting falling asleep in the quick briefing in which I instruct my own staff to be outstanding to other personnel, be organized, communicative and generally work as a good team. This shows a general lack of interest in hearing what a head of staff has to say from a character. Whether goofy or not, it was extremely telling of the kind of standard Marcus sets as a follower. Leaders need to be able to listen or they won't be able to get anything done right. 2. Generally unprofessional over communications. This shows a distinct lack of focus and more of an attitude geared towards horsing around rather than looking like a respectable officer. Leaders represent more than just themselves, and a head of security stands to represent not only the security department but the corporate face as a whole. 3. Searched someone without a warrant on code green. I let this slide by itself because she was witnessed tweaking out and the lady needed help, but a warrant must be requested first because a respect for procedure is still necessary. 4. Near the tail end of the round, expressed a suspicious amount of knowledge about air alarm/vent modes despite not having skill configuration or records suggesting they know anything about technical atmospheric specifics like that. Attempted to instruct the AI on how to do that as a security officer. 5. Final note, instead of waiting for the airlocks connecting to the emergency shuttle to cycle, Marcus attempted to break windows to make way into the shuttle even though the final airlock would have stopped them from getting any further, and a breached shuttle window would've killed everyone in the general access shuttle wing. This shows a lack of foresight into potential consequences for actions. Not being able to see things like this is really, really bad for a candidate for leadership. Foresight is possibly the most important virtue for a management figure given how valued it is to have someone who thinks not just on their feet but plans accordingly for different outcomes. A poor subordinate will inevitably be a bad leader. Voting no. Not using my status as head whitelister to outright decline this, as I will defer that to the other two team members. 14. Starting up. (ID: bQN-anSB) 02:27.54 ... (skip to avoid plugging sensitive information) [02:28:41] bQN-anSB OOC: Kyres1/Kyres1 : don't insult my accidental trap [02:28:43] bQN-anSB OOC: Kyres1/Kyres1 : i'll beat u up Barely a minute after the server started. This is the only time 'accidental trap' is mentioned during the course of this entire round and it didn't even start yet. I am assuming "accidental trap" referred to Yahir, but I highly doubt Fold the raider was Yahir in disguise, especially considering how neither of the two look alike, having seen Yahir's character setup before. So this was definitely in the context of Yahir and if I might cite "Menown's Law", OOC will constantly refer to traps as some kind of weird joke until everyone collectively gets tired of running the joke into the dirt. Which may be never. Probably confused, considering the Vox was speaking Vox-pidgin shortly before they murder Fold (kyres) shouting, "I'll kill you, I'll kill you!" God knows I've completely forgotten about my other team members if they went off just to kill people, die without contributing much to the round besides screaming in broken Russian pejoratives. She was armed the entire time, especially notable when she went SSD. You can see the RIG on her back, right here. . Meaning if she needed to return fire, she would immediately be able to open fire by deploying her suit and arming her plasma cutters/thermal drill modules. Plasma cutters are currently stronger than conventional laser weapons right now, a mild balance issue I might address when I have time to revise the entire arsenal mining has at their disposal. I only recently discovered it after hitting the thermal drill with a dispersion change while playing as a combat cyborg. Irrelevant stuff aside, plasma cutters are quite bamf and people are right to be fearful of miners since they apparently have better guns than security does on Master right now. Which by extension means they outgun antagonists. An antagonist that roleplays a desire to not be shot and avoiding unnecessary conflict does not exactly a bad antag make. It was improbable Kyres would be able to capture them non-lethally, considering the miner had their hardsuit gauntlets deployed which blocks handcuff attempts. So it would not have gone well no matter how Kyres would have planned it. Perhaps it is not wise to throw rocks in glass houses, considering you yourself died anticlimactically in an hour and a half into the round due to getting surrounded by sec as you overestimated your own ability to stay alive and keep fighting security, so I don't think you really have room to be lecturing people on how they should be playing antagonist, seeing as how anyone, including you, is prone to bad decision-making that leads to antagonist's deaths. And I watched the entire five minutes and also have access to server logs. No ERP happened this round (according to whatever the accusation was originally, you still told JB this information as a third-party source) and I do not find any of their conduct actionable for this round. May I ask you not twist context of events that happen to their worst case interpretation in order to get your chance in to ridicule other community members on a public forum as you have done in the first post and onward? Jackboot made a good case against Kyres in regards to respecting boundaries of acceptable roleplay styles and Kyres has insofar taken that to heart in DMs and will modify their play in the future (And if they do not, they eat a ban, it's just good business). You, however, seem to be making it a point to continue your assault on Kyres1, for some reason? Are you not satisfied with this resolution? If you called the shots here, what would you honestly do in this situation?
15. Oh. So that's the context. [09:53:39] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) You have no buddies. [09:53:46] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Kyres1/(Yahir Jones) : (Ceti Basic) I - I do! [09:54:00] bQM-bhy0 EMOTE: Yahir Jones/Kyres1 : <B>Yahir Jones</B> crosses his arms. [09:54:05] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Kyres1/(Yahir Jones) : (Ceti Basic) I have plenty of buddies! [09:54:07] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) Everryone else has to as well. [09:54:09] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) PRrretend. [09:54:14] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) You know, deep down, that they dont mean it. [09:54:37] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Kyres1/(Yahir Jones) : (Ceti Basic) I think I know who means friendship and who doesn't. [09:54:54] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) You haven't felt genuine connection with anotherr perrrson in a long, long, time, have you? [09:55:18] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Kyres1/(Yahir Jones) : (Ceti Basic) Buddy, I've been making chocolate milkshakes with brown babes for the last five months. [09:55:44] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Kyres1/(Yahir Jones) : (Ceti Basic) Both of which I've gotten romantically involved with, and saved the lives of - [09:55:44] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) <b>YAHIRRR IS ATTACKING ME</b> [09:55:48] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Kyres1/(Yahir Jones) : (Ceti Basic) ... a fuckload. [09:55:48] bQM-bhy0 SAY: Jackboot/(Rrazujun Rrhazkal-Jawdat) : (Ceti Basic) Watch. Then Jackboot cuts himself up with his own claws to blame on Yahir, deciding to cut himself out of the conversation, I assume, leading to Yahir's death later on. Interesting conversation. Especially the chocolate milkshake comment. How droll. I think the comment alone should not make a community member deeply uncomfortable though. It's fucking weird but really has nothing to do with Jackboot himself, I don't think? I'm not sure why he's uncomfortable on the behalf of brown girls everywhere though. It's a stupid comment, yes. According to some DMs exchanged between myself and Kyres, evidently they didn't realize the innuendo. But, no, these comments aren't acceptable on the server, imo. Even if unintentional, it's important for our community members to understand they need to use a filter and think before they post in certain roleplay cases. Unlike other situations with boundaries of acceptability where the lines are more blurred for the sake of roleplay flexibility, this was a case where a line was crossed somewhat in terms of the boundary being set to distinct acceptable romantic roleplay, and inappropriate comments made for the sake of being lewd. Or perhaps unintentionally but they still came off as very inappropriate.
16. Huh. Wonder what was with the accusations outlined in the OP then. Senpai Jackboot You're kinda required to provide proof via a round ID or actual logs for us to use. There have been a lot of conflux/cult rounds this past week, especially considering the severity of these accusations which are starting to sound dubious at best.
17. The shipping manifest is really not going to be considered in the grand scheme of the complaint, that should be handled by whoever admins that document, which I think is ariever . I could be wrong on that note, since it might just be MoondancerPony . Reason being: it is not directly on-server and there have been incidents of defacing that manifest, so even the slightest chance of that being insincere can throw the entire case off. Round IDs for these rounds in specific would be helpful, otherwise we cannot really take action on "recent hearsay," much as many are plainly aware of Kyres1' eccentricity. Complaint SOP is innocent until proven guilty, no matter how good of a hunch someone has. hivefleetchickenSenpai Jackboot And yes, it is character assassination. Stay on-topic. Target actions and behavior, not the person.
18. Regrettably, I'll have to deny this application. If the OP has concerns as to why, they can lodge them to Scheveningen#4745 on discord. The OP can reapply in-between 14-21 days time, whichever they believe is an adequate timeframe to improve their play a bit based off of the feedback in this thread.
19. Medical workers shouldn't really be doing that unless their head of staff is doing so. Service workers are allowed to, however.
20. With the round duration minimum being 2 hours it's probably not exactly good design to be artificially inflating the amount of time it takes to do things necessary for the job. Surgery is one thing but mixing chemicals at its current pace is a little bit absurd. It messes up portioning really hard and the amount of stalling this feature causes just to do basic parts of the chemist job just makes it irritating in general.
21. the only interaction space bears brings to the server is mauling people until they die, they aren't an actual pest to deal with, just artificially difficult enemies that teleport frequently and are generally obnoxious in general. even spiders are more interesting in the way they kill people.
22. 2015-01-13 00:00:00 || Adminbot || Banned from Warden, Detective, Forensic Technician, Security Officer, Security Cadet - Got implanted as a security officer then went to beat the chaplain to death because they were talking about blood rituals, showed no care that he had an implant and insisted that the killing was justified as a non-antag. Ooooooooold ban. Lifting.
23. +1 for the above reasons. Pacman's done a fair amount of work and he's likely out to do much more.
24. -Liquid injections are 2x more effective than forcing someone to ingest a chemical pill. When pills are ingested, half of the reagents are processed and the other half are metabolized in the stomach, effectively wasting the other half of the dose. -Doesn't matter but it's preferable they're filled for convenience sake. -Gas masks are only needed if you plan on mixing toxic smoke or accidentally cause a phoron reaction that releases into the air. These two situations are uncommon considering you have to do both on purpose to be a real threat to the lab. -Dexalin plus, bicaridine, dermaline, tricordrazine, arithrazine, peridaxon, alkysine, ryetalyn and tricordrazine are all the most used. Honorable mentions are imidazioline and clonexadone. -You usually just make what's needed and prep basic healing chemicals ahead of time so you can administer it immediately. -Phoron = plasma, which means ingesting it poisons you. You should drop phoron pills into mixes that require it so you have phoron leftover. -Yes, and only if they have a prescription in their records. Over-the-counter drug pass-outs are considered unorthodox in the workplace. Edit Complete Garbage ninjaposted me. gosh darn it
