Remove mice from being able to destroy boxes by chewing them.
NoahKirchner replied to Scheveningen's topic in Archive
I think a straight removal is the wrong way to approach this. Maybe have them only be able to eat through boxes that contain food, so that they can still be pests, or have chewing through boxes not destroy the box but still spill the contents? -
[Resolved] Staff Complaint: NoahKirchner
NoahKirchner replied to driecg36's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I think that a lot of this comes down to the interpretation of the cross departmental knowledge rule and how difficult it is to learn to mix drinks on the side. I could go either way here, and to some degree I do like the idea of an HoS serving drinks to their fellow crewmembers. However, the jobs are very different and heads generally can't generally work with jobs outside of their purview. That said, bartending is in an interesting position here. If you were playing an HoS who also worked in engineering, that's clearly within a breach of the rules because keeping a space station running requires a heck of a lot of schooling. But mixing drinks as a bartender is easily something that could've been picked up in college ICly, or however your character learned it, and so the character makes sense, strictly speaking. At the end of the day, it comes down to precedent, and I'd be happy with this being ruled in favor of Driecg and if precedent for future interdepartmental rule enforcement is made, all the better, but I (and msay) decided that it's odd to have a head staff, especially one that's loyalty implanted and as important as an HoS, also mixing drinks when they're on station and could be doing their primary job, even if the knowledge is feasible. -

Nevermind, I rescind my +1 because I forgot that the kitchen can, in fact, make lolipops. -

Add a merchant computer to the heist shuttle.

+500 for heisters, also allows them to even have a merchant gimmick while stealing from people -
-1, allow the HoS and HoP to work together if they'd like a seniority role, but as it stands, it's just turning security officer into cadet 2.0.

These stats are really neat to look through, thank you for posting them.

Alrighty, thank you kindly. -
would it be possible to add a few standard consoles to the AI core so they can do stuff like set up NTRelay without piggybacking off of another department?

[Accepted] NoahKirchner Mod Application
NoahKirchner replied to NoahKirchner's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
I see your point but the situation, at least in theory, between moderation and playing is a tad different. If I plan on playing, I essentially need to have at least 4 hours squared away to be able to play, with my full attention on the game for that entire timespan. As a mod, however, I can work on schoolwork and the likes with the game open on my laptop and observe the round as need be if I don't have enough time to play. Those breaks have primarily been caused by real life, namely school, but with winter coming in and things starting to settle down, I should have a lot more free time regardless. (Apologies if things here are mis-spelled but I am both tired and typing on a phone) -
New means of communication for depowered/wrecked borgs.
NoahKirchner replied to Pratepresidenten's topic in Archive
This'd be nice, I've been stuck in holes for entire rounds as a mining borg because I had no way to communicate before I realized you could communicate via PDA, but this still doesn't help you if you're the only synthetic. -
[Accepted] NoahKirchner Mod Application

I'd like to think that I did an alright job for my short time there. Unfortunately, though, an ill-timed joke in OOC (Essentially saying that you can put a machete on a helmet, which when you try to do gives a message to the people around you that you bumble around and look like an idiot for trying to look cool) combined with thin ice from behavior previously on the server meant that I got the boot. (Do note that Apophis and I disagree on the exact reasoning, if I remember correctly (and please don't take this as gospel if I'm misquoting him, might even be better to ask him) I do believe that he thought that I was responding with these jokes in ahelps, but regardless, I was still previously a problem player and I assume they just didn't want to deal with me which is totally understandable) This happened a fair bit ago and I've tried, since then, to make improvements to my play style and general attitude. While I still disagree with my reasoning for being booted, I accept that I was definitely not the most well behaved player on CM and the thin ice I was on prior to my mentor role was incredibly well deserved. While I have a bit of a reputation on CM for being a problem player (I haven't gotten any notes in quite a few months, for the record, but the reputation sticks), I've still done my best to improve there and here. I'd like to think that I've improved enough to be able to handle the responsibility of being staff and, looking back and reading my old notes, a lot of my behavior was reprehensible and just made the game less fun for everyone involved. -
Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: NoahKirchner Character Name(s): https://gyazo.com/a089a303457225ccdb677795751f5a3c AI Name(s): Been a while since I've played AI or borgs, but my borg was named Omnicron and I believe my AI was Omega, but it may have been the other way around. (I plan on playing it again soon. If I do the name will likely be A.S.I) Preferred means of contact: Discord by far, I'm normally talking in general. Noah Kirchner#6103 Age: 15, 16 in January Timezone: Eastern Standard When are you on Aurora?: Weekdays, generally after 5PM Eastern standard for a round or two, weekends generally 1-8 PM are the times that I'll be around with occasional stints into the midnight hours. Experience I was a mentor for CM way back when and i've modded some forums. How long have you played SS13?: Early june 2016 on hippiestation How long have you played on Aurora: Since january with increasing frequency and intensity. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I'd like to think I know a heck of a lot but, in reality, probably as much as your average regular. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Nope, only mentoring. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Not on here. I was perma'd on yog when I first started but got that appealed, and I've been jobbanned on CM for being a shit but those have been lifted also. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play SS13 because I like to use my brain, there's a lot of complexity here and that makes the mechanics very attractive. I also found, through Aurora actually because it was my first HRP server, that roleplaying characters is a lot of fun. Why do you play on Aurora?: Because it's the best mix of HRP and action that I've found thus far on SS13, and there's not too much drama. What do moderators do?: Moderators ensure that all players in the server have an enjoyable experience - specifically they ensure that nobody breaks the rules and ruins someone else's experiences. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means that you'll be spending your time ensuring that people adhere to both the rules and maintain a proper standard of roleplay, in both their characters and their actions. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Garnacus asked people to apply and i think the extra responsibility will be neat. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I feel kind of arrogant answering this question, frankly, but I'd like to think that I'm able to maintain my cool when it comes to stressful situations well enough to properly moderate and deal with people who may be troublemakers. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I tend to not take insults too seriously. As far as anger, I rarely get properly angry and when that happens it's generally not for reasons pertaining to spessmans or being insulted. As far as stress goes, I don't mind it and sometimes it even helps me to perform better. Anything Else You Want to Add: I shitpost a lot in discord but I am capable of taking issues seriously if it's warranted, there just haven't been many issues where I've needed to take issues seriously on aurora thus far.

Could always have it give an alert to the AI that it cant see out of the camera

Should we have Intern Level Pages on the Wiki
NoahKirchner replied to AllyBearsley's topic in General
Yes, and here's how I think that it can be done without messing everything up. On the front of the wiki put a starter jobs page which brings up a list of all of the nub jobs and their responsibilities. Assistant, Medical Resident, et cetera. From there have a very meticulous and detailed description of, not strictly what their job entails, but mostly how to perform the basic actions that those jobs require. When it comes to learning, there's nothing wrong with overlap, and the very VERY basics of how to use medicine or construct a chair spelled out letter by letter for a new player won't hurt anyone. The more information available and right out in the open for you the better, in my opinion. -
Xenobotany could use a grinder and some more tables for paper

[Accepted] NoahKirchner's Skrell Application
NoahKirchner replied to NoahKirchner's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm really glad you asked this because it's something I wanted to go on about but felt like I'd be overdoing it in the background section. Wer'losh is very much a family man and, to some degree a patriot. Not, per-say, nationalistic, but still with the same belief that Skrell society has surpassed the development of other species and he, as such, believes that most other species (Though not necessarily cultures) should gravitate away from the mistakes that Skrell society has made in the past and more towards what has made them successful. A tad patronising, if you will, to ideas involving artificial intelligence is what I'm trying to get at here, though a bit more broad. As far as aggressiveness goes, seeing as how he is soon to have a family to look after, I plan on playing him to be very protective of both his job security and of his life in general, wanting to provide for his soon-to-be family. This doesn't mean I'm going to have him suit up and go fight antags at every available opportunity, but he's inclined to agree with nanotrasen and to attempt to stay alive. Those are good answers. I like the way you RP, your application and answers to my questions. I also like your character concept, which is important. So, I see no reason to not +1 this app. Good luck. Thank you very much and I hope to see you around with a far squishier name than I have currently . -

BYOND Key: NoahKirchner Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): A pale blue Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have, a few times prior just to learn more about the lore, but I've just read through it again and I forgot how gosh darned neat it was. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Skrell have an incredibly interesting history. From their astrology based religions to their ritualistic wars (Which I think are the hecking coolest), to their mixing of humor, emotion and information for entertainment. This species has culture oozing out of it and there are an incredible amount of characters and quirks that you could come up with. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanically, jack diddly squat, but mechanics aren't the reason I think the race is neat. Their potential for interesting, memorable and unique characters is pretty difficult to beat. Character Name: Wer'losh Nash'toylin-Balak Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Hatching on Jargon IV to a pair of loving parents, Wer'losh spent their early childhood engrossed in the mannerisms and anatomy of many amphibious creatures native to Qerrbalak. His parents were supportive of this habit, urging him to begin investing more and more of his time into studying anatomy, different foreign organisms and the scientific method. As his interests developed and his love of learning continued, he began to take interest in gaining admittance to The Gliutip’lyaz University, the most prestigious school in Skrellian space. Unfortunately, despite diligent effort, Wer'losh was simply not able enough to gain admittance. After looking, dejectedly, for further schooling opportunities, he finally decided to apply for the Aloise University of Medical Sciences. After being accepted, he flourished, learning excitedly about anatomy all throughout known space. He began to take an interest in augmentation, be it biological or mechanical, and spent every waking hour studying all that he could about it's effects, shortcomings, advantages and requirements. During his rigorous study, he met who would become his lifelong companion- a female Skrell by the name of Yosh'nay. The two worked side by side on a nearly daily basis and formed a deep connection that transcended the workplace. As years passed and as Wer'losh finally finished his studies, earning a Doctorate in bio-mechanical engineering and a master's degree in xeno-biology, he began looking for places of work. He traveled to Jargon V with Yosh'nay, where they both found work in a local research facility developing prosthesis and sub-dermal implants. As the two grew closer, they finally decided to become lifelong partners, and it was at this moment that Wer'losh realized his need for a more sustainable, better providing job. Once again looking for a place of work in hopes of being able to support his future family to the best of his ability, he turned his search to Human space. Unexpectedly, he found job opportunities in Human space far surpassing the positions available to him in Skrellian space, and so he began looking for one which best suited his interests and new requirements. What do you like about this character? I enjoy creating drives for characters to exist beyond "They must make money", and I think the need to support a family is a nice way to accomplish this. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I find this question difficult to answer, truthfully. I would like to think that I am acceptable, but I am aware that I have shortcomings and areas that I am able to improve on. Notes: Will be played as an RD, for reference. Thank you for reading if you've gotten to the bottom of this, and apologies for the potentially poor story-telling.

Make being under anesthesia slowly generate cryptobiolin

could just make what is, essentially, cryptobolin in function but is renamed as "Anasthetic" for fluff purposes
