  1. It's unreasonable. All I really see is "I DON'T LIKE WHAT PEOPLE ARE DOING. CHANGE!" Which just comes off as downright childish. The Hospital I worked at, my last job at the Naval yard and.... just about every job I've had. And software can be manipulated. This allows Sec to just send a Fax to Centcom to verify the members of the crew and pick-out anyone who wasn't legitimately assigned. No, No it's not. They are NOT forcing you to abandon anything that makes sense ICly (Apologies if your character is based around refusing to sign paperwork). They're not throwing you in a backroom, strip searching you without a warrant and imprisoning you. They're politely, and considerately telling you to show your ID to them, and write your name down.
  2. I'm not one to judge, but this just sounds like you being picky and unreasonable. You're fine with typing out huge, detailed paragraphs for the sake of RP, but when someone wants to ensure IDs are valid, you refuse to type six digits? You've recently arrived on a High-Tech research station, one owned by probably the most hated corporation in all of Human existence. An extremely quick security check, to verify your Identity and ensure you're who you say you are makes perfect sense to me, and just about everyone else I've talked to about this... Absolutely nothing... Up until the point where you demand people change their reasonable, IC actions for your satisfaction.
  3. I apologize, but your application has been denied. If you wish to inquire on why, then send a PM to both Tishinastalker and myself.
  4. Atalanta Cascadia! Gimme yo' worse brah.
  5. Right. I'm moving this thread to the General board, as it's not suggesting we change something integrated into the game in any meaningful way. Staff doesn't encourage or control this behavior really, and it's more of a "I feel like we shouldn't do this because X" thread. If you have a suggestion to remove the checkpoint, it'd go on the Suggestion board If you have a complaint about the characters who organized this, Complaint board. Otherwise, carry on!
  6. Where did I say they were antagonists? The way I look at it, it's morally ambiguous in the nature of the conflict. The Sol Alliances swoops in, allows local governance and builds up infrastructure, and shares their advanced technology. On the flipside, the inherent death, destruction and general not-niceness of war tends to oppose that. And that's your personal opinion, feel free to have it. But based on the opinions of the 11 or so other people in this post, who all like the idea. They Think otherwise. In addition to the other dozen or so people I've shown who haven't commented. Exactly, I don't think anyone's ever said "War is pleasant". It's not an enjoyable experience, but it creates a living universe outside of our little station. It's meant to be ambiguous on its morality and justness, it mainly depends on whether you prefer Order and prosperity, or freedom and independence.
  7. Avoid making pointless comments that don't contribute to the discussion please.
  8. We're in a core system of the Sol Alliance, albeit one managed by joined local-NT governance. It would be highly involved with the war-effort whether by production, recruitment or just being in the middle of everything. Aurora doesn't need to be the centerpiece however, and I think always branding it as such is a flawed approach to Lore as a whole. It'll certaintly have an impact on Aurora regardless. This can be simply from player interactions (As generally everyone can be expected to have a Pro-Sol, Pro-Colonial, or anti-War attitude about the war), A wide variety of events including Sol Alliance representatives visiting, Colonial raids, material requisitions, propaganda campaigns and a massive amount of Newscaster article that myself (And probably Sam) would be happy to provide. It could, but then again It wouldn't make any more sense for them to exist than it would now. The war would've JUST started, so having swarms of recently drummed-out soldiers wouldn't make any sense. In addition to that, beyond the first couple months. Anyone who'd been discharged would be either mentally or physically unfit for duty, meaning it's pretty certain they wouldn't be employed on the Aurora in any higher position. If anyone would want to play a possibly wounded veteran and does it well however, it wouldn't be particularly snow-flake. This isn't nationalism, In-fact I'm fairly sure that it wouldn't even be correct to call the Sol Alliance or any of the colonial states Nation-States as they fail to meet the requirements to be described as one (Ethnic or cultural ties). This wouldn't be a "Lol-Empire" war. Take a look at the few described colonies mentioned in our lore (Other than the Sol Alliance). They're generally lower-tech, Lower-life expectancy and generally not that great of places to be. They have no legitimacy (Other than Lol war), no cultural, ethnic or any other kind of bonds. They're akin to the current state of Africa, arbitrary borders set-down for political reasons, and generally don't look that stable. This would be a war of liberation, if it even would be called a war (Current 21st century states clearly aren't adverse to violence, they just don't like calling it wars.) There's no reason for the Populace of the Sol Alliance to be opposed to it, they have overwhelming military and technological supremacy, and at-least to them they have a real justification (That being that they're uplifting the colonists, giving them a better life.) And in the end, the Oath party's name originates from the fact that they swore an Oath to their brothers in the colonies to hold Humanity together, which isn't a foreign concept in Sci-Fi. Ultimately, I believe it'd end with a stalemate. With the Sol Alliance's borders being extended several dozen light-years deeper into the colonies. And being forced into a cease-fire as they overextend themselves. It could result in nationalization of the Aurora as the Sol Alliance needs to establish a firmer hold on her industrial base, or many, many other things. I generally thought It'd be a better idea for the Community to have some input on the result as it wages on. Because they're easy, everyone in the nations involved in them generally has an opinion, even if it isn't an informed one. And it's something that doesn't have to revolve around the Aurora. Aurora isn't the center of the universe, and this'll give the rest of the universe something to do. Most of all, it allows interesting things to happen, from relatives being injured. Depressing characters, as their friends try to comfort them, to certain characters trying to whip-up support for the war. And as a side note, because the main species in this universe is Humans, and Humans, no matter what year it is. Always war upon each other. And more than anything else, Because every, single person I've shown thus far has liked it. Including people who generally don't agree with my ideas.
  9. Before I start. I'll say this Nay! Tis not the wrong place, because of this fair quote. Because of that fair sentence, I cannot post this on the Lore-applications. And so, I embark upon the quest of detailing this fine suggestion! What I want: Essentially, I want to turn our background into something that intrigues the players. (More than the few who care about the Lore), I want it to turn into something alive. In fewer words. I want to start a war. The Plan: This is how we start this war, the Sol Alliance (Under Prime Minister Salvatore Abbiati and his irredentist Oath party), having unprecedented public support and a recently won super-majority in the Senate. Vote for a "Measure to Restore Order to the Colonies" or M.R.O.C. In fewer words, they embark on a quest to bring their wayward colonies to heel, in even fewer. They go all "Manifest destiny" on the colonies. The Sol Alliance would initially start out with an redonkulous advantage, which would slowly wither away as their supply lines get longer and the colonials get more prepared. (This is a multi-month atleast project) How it gets us better RP: This happening creates an event basically everyone's gonna have to care about, because it's a MAJOR shift in the background, it'll create RP from the Pro-SA patriots waving flags and cheering the Navy along, and the fiercely independent colonials will get to decry the Alliance's Warmongering. NT as a whole also gets caught up in this due to their support of the Alliance. As the days go on, Newscasters would be updated with War Data, Casualty figures, worlds that'd been taken and lost by both sides, ships that'd be lost due to enemy action, and players can even request or Submit (After staff approval) stories about the fates of their home-worlds. It'd also involve Aurora ICly beyond simple Newscasters, with staff hosting events ranging from Off-duty Sol Alliance troops resting on-board for a bit, Central Command commanding Mining to provide a certain amount of materials for the War effort, rationing of some materials, Colonial raids into S.A. lines, Political figures from the Alliance passing through, and other things I've yet to think of! In Short, It's simply meant to create a story in the background, so that the rest of the universe just doesn't sit around and wait for us to finish as our crew fucks/kills/and has coffee with each other. Examples of Newscaster stuff!: Breaking News!: Today, the Caesar class Carrier SAMV Marvus Agrippa suffered damage during an orbital assault on Tylia in the Kepler-438 System, the damage being caused due to resistance by the planet’s colonial defense forces. Thirty eight servicemen were killed during the attack, including Cpt. Antonio Love, Cpl. Serah Tulia, and Mcpo. Samuel Benítez Breaking News!:As the war grinds into its fifth month, The Sol Alliance Senate has voted to increase funding to the armed forces, in-order to supply new volunteers with equipment, in addition to financing the construction of a pair of new Caesar class assault carriers currently being constructed in Mars orbit. The Carriers are being named the SAMV Lucius Cincinnatus and SAMV Gnaeus Geta respectively! Sol Alliance News network, signing off.
  10. They are, they're in Sammac's folder.
  11. LEMONS
  12. There in-fact is, but it's not uploaded yet unfortunately. I'll get it in ASAP
  13. I'm going to I'm going to start with this. These were, and are NOT reasons for me to deny your application, they are concerns that I wanted you to address before I approved your application. Turning this into an argumentative, accusative exchange is only going to frustrate staff when we're trying to handle this in a polite, courteous manner. That's extremely unfortunate, and it's one of the situations where you should file a complaint against that player. And I do realize that complaints take awhile, are mired in bureaucracy, and often don't accomplish much. But we do keep track of them, and they can and have been used to strip players of their whitelist and in fewer cases, ban them. It's far from perfect, but its the best we can do without being authoritarian. This is due to Staff (If you've not given us a resounding reason otherwise) generally trusting the players to be honest and truthful on our applications. I wasn't present during this altercation, I was simply quoting something I believed I heard, I may have misheard it, misquoted it, or Tish may have meant someone else or some other situation. So I apologize for attributing that to you when It wasn't said by you. I was in no-way attempting to restart a argument that has already been resolved. I'm honestly not really sure how you thought I was attempting to do so. Let me say this, and I apologize to everyone on the lore-team for what follows. Our Lore team is horrible, inefficient and generally lazy as can be. I'm a member of it due to the belief that I might contribute something meaningful to our server's lore. There are MANY, MANY things that I do not agree with that our lore-team has done, including the old restriction of Alien species on Head-of-staff roles. Which is why We've changed to my proposed restrictions, which grant several positions to IPCs and other races. I am not offended by your statements about our lore-team, I agree with you and several others that our lore-team is not representative of the community and needs to change, I also agree with your....personal feelings towards several members of the lore-team. Let me just say this, Ffrances selected me and Tishina before she left due to her feeling as if we were capable of being unbiased and neutral in these applications. She was not one to easily say things like that and was generally a good judge of character, several other people applied to be the staff that held overview of Head of staff applications, and there were reasons they were not selected. I have exactly two people I intently dislike on Aurora, and I can promise you that you're not one of them. As I said at the beginning of this post. These are NOT reasons that I'm denying or downvoting your application, they are concerns that I wanted you to address before I approved it, which I intended to do. Indeed, the notes you have accumulated aren't being used to "Justify" any actions against you. I've brought people's notes up on at-least one other case, I'm not judging someone's notes. I'm judging how they explain them. Indeed, I utterly agree with you. Haruspex is an excellent character that I absolutely enjoy. As I said earlier in this post, I'm in-no-way denying him, nor attempting to justify denying him in any-way. This application will more than likely be approved, but I wanted him to address my points before It is. And I'm honestly not satisfied with the evasive, accusatory tone he took with the answers.
  14. I'm mixed on my feeling about your application, let me list why. ((And forgive me for not bringing up these points on your earlier application, I've been dealing with serious medical complications recently and have only been able to resume playing in the last 2-3 days. )) 1. Maturity: While hardly a measurable and tangible object, maturity is something that both me and Tish have agreed is a significant part of being able to be a head of staff. Your response to being notified that your application was denied was exceptionally...immature and aggressive in its nature, instead of acknowledging that you did ANYTHING wrong on your application, you immediately began to blame staff in an irrational manner. In-fact you asked Tish "Why do you hate me?" and even told Tish that you would lie on your next application 2. Notes: You truly don't have that many notes, but the notes that you do in-fact have are concerning to me. Lets go over them, shall we? You've done the following, Summarily executed a syndicate (Who was unarmed as a prisoner) because they insulted you ICly, you've repeatedly panicked as an antag (Emagged Cyborg/Cultist) and killed/maimed people which has removed them from RP without any significant RP before the gank, you've released N20 into the air, and you were warned a significant number of times for showing up ICly with a reference name despite being told not to. 3. Staff: You seem to have an irrational distrust of staff as a whole, not even specific members of staff. Just anyone on it. The prime example of this was 1. Your rants on Reddit about how our "Furry lore team" was out to get you, despite few of them having any personal interaction with yourself other than trying to explaining the situation, and 2. The incident yesterday, where you repeatedly insulted both myself and Tishinastalker despite neither of us having any previous interactions with you other than denying your application I truly don't have any personal feelings towards you, either good nor bad and my only interaction with you besides this post was an incident where you Role played beautifully with me ICly and I complimented your abilities afterwards. Whether you gain my approval or disapproval for your application lies solely with you and the way you choose to address the issues I've brought up. I really don't mean to insult you, nor offend you with any of the issues that I've brought up and I apologize fervently if I have done so.
  15. As its been mentioned. It caused a bit of an issue with -some- players. And there really wasn't a large-enough percentage of the staff/playerbase that wanted to keep the restrictions to make it worth-while. As long as someone makes a believable character, it doesn't really make much sense to keep players out of most roles.
  16. NUH. You can no has my beret.
  17. Locking due to this issue being resolved with the new Alien head positions being available. View this for what positions are available for who. http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1381
  18. Bridge is horrifically and unneccessarily too large. The current bridge works fine in my mind, except perhaps the meeting area being too small.
  19. Dea Tacita

    IPC Language

That's mainly a gameplay thing in my mind. It'd give traitor IPCs an astounding advantage Icly.
  20. Dea Tacita

    IPC Language

How 'bout just give them their own language? Every other races has one...

  22. BYOND Key: Dea Tacita Character name: Keegan Inglehart Item name: Sol Alliance Uniform Jacket & Sol Alliance Beret Why is your character carrying said item to work? Keegan is a profound supporter of the Sol Alliance and its goals, almost entirely without reservation. This is primarily due to her growing up in the Alliance's foster system and as such her having a keen sense of loyalty to her Nation, which literally raised her from childhood. Upon the age of maturity, Keegan enlisted into the Sol Alliance armed forces (Specifically the Army) and earned her engineering education via a program in that branch. Through the Alliance and it's programs, she's risen from an orphaned little girl on Earth to an engineer, something she more-than-likely wouldn't have been able to do in another nation. So she's eccentrically proud of her service to the Alliance, and likes to at-least wear her beret/jacket when it's appropriate Item function(s): Labcoat without buttoning/unbuttoning function and a hat. Pockets for the coat would be nice. Item description: Jacket: A semi-formal Sol Alliance Uniform Jacket, it looks to have three-chevrons of embellished gold on the base of its sleeves. Beret: A Sol-Alliance blue beret fitted with leather edging. It has a Tan-gold star pinned to it. Item appearance: Additional comments: Sam is awesome for making the Icons.
  23. Mars has a bit done with it. I've just not put it on the wiki because honestly I hate wiki-editing. But it shouldn't be incompatible with this with some editing methinks
  24. Non-constructive comments can and will be removed. Saying "This is a bad character" and not trying to help them improve said character is significantly worse than not posting at all.
