  1. Just sayin' but energy weapons are the primary weapons on the station in-order to prevent breaching the hull when you shoot Urist Mcbaddy.
  2. Application denied after much consideration between staff. Please try applying again in the future, and I wish you luck with it. If you have questions about this decision, then feel free to PM TishinaStalker and myself by marking us both down on the receivers of the PM.
  3. Flavor Text: What it is: A configuration option that’s available (But not required) in the character creation menu. It’s grown quite popular since it has been implemented a few years ago, and even got a new face with the update allowing for limb-specific texts. It is used for ‘objective’ physical descriptions of a character. What it isn’t: A place for background information, descriptions of specific clothing, or ‘emotion-forcing’ to other characters. Writing a flavor text The point of a flavor text is to give a person the ability to look at your character and ‘see what you see’ in-so-far as your character, going beyond just “Oh, a 2D spessman”. A decent flavor text contains any important physical features of your character. Such as height, hair, facial features, tattoos, scars etc. What I generally do is ‘go down’ a character's body, starting at head and working my way down with the description as this is generally how someone will notice you, head then everything else. A critical part of writing a F.T. is an understanding of the correct type of tense to you. I’ve seen people use 1st. person, which is incorrect and should be replaced with the more correct 2nd or 3rd person, like “This is a short, asian woman”, or “You see a short, asian woman.” instead of “I am a short, asian woman.” The most common error I see is a subjective description instead of the more correct objective description. What I mean by this is “They are a beautiful woman”. By doing this, you are forcing a train of thought into another character's head. Another good example is “They look scary” or “They look like a badass” avoid these. Instead of “They’re the prettiest girl you’ve ever seen” actually describe their physical features and leave it up to the players to decide if they’re pretty. Beauty is subjective, not everyone looks at one specific type of facial feature as “beautiful”. Another thing to avoid is putting how your character moves or talks in your flavor text. Instead of writing this off and demanding everyone hear your “Thick space-Russian accent” actually RP a Russian accent to the best of your ability. Use emotes and the ‘me’ verb to show how your character moves. A good way to look at this is, it’s perfectly possible that someone might see your character while they’re seated, or sleeping in the dorm. How would they know how your character walks, talks or moves? An issue that’s rarer than most of the rest of these is the inclusion of clothing and or gear into a flavor text. Your character will not always been wearing these particular pieces of clothing and that’s generally something to be avoided. Vague references to how your character wears certain things are permissible however, such as “Their hands tend to hover around in their pockets”
  4. Addendum to what Tish said. Going off-topic again will get this thread locked and binned.
  5. (From Dea+Tish) I'm going to start this off with the good and then work my way to what I see is wrong. My personal interactions with you has been nothing but pleasant. You seem intelligent and rather friendly in disposition and you're rather good at Roleplaying, I've even had a handful of good experiences with you In-game as one of my plethora of characters. Your answers, simply put are pretty good they answer every aspect of the questions and do so expertly. And even the bio is rather well put together and would explain the sudden turn around in behavior of your character. However. I'm whole-heartedly, entirely 110.5992% against this. Let me explain why. First time around, from what I remember your white-list application was just this good, answered everything perfectly and in a manner quiet more eloquently done than most other applicants. You respond to criticism politely and intelligently, never resorting to idiotic arguing back and forth. Simply put, your application last time around was all great and dandy. However, after being granted that white list. You proved an utter disappointment, at least to me. You failed in every, single possible way to live up to that oh-so promising white-list that us staff approved. In the span of a little less than a month you received a total of 5 warnings, every single which of one you responded politely and promised to change in-order to be a player capable of the white-list. And all five times you failed to provide even a token measure of improvement to convince staff that you were worth keeping on the white-list. Quite honestly, you really seemed to do every single thing a whitelistee could do wrong short of straight-up grief. From incorrect skills to preform a job, straight-up ramboing a nuke operative with a lawgiver, An astounding amount of metagaming, power-gaming and sheer irresponsibility as a head of staff, a catastrophic inability to lead as a Captain (Which included carrying around the ENTIRE armory in a locker for some reason), a disturbing amount of paranoia (Reseting AI laws for absolutely no reason whatsoever) and a markedly belligerent attitude in-which you always seems to insist that you were correct, despite the evidence to the contrary. You are more than capable of filling out an application and making it look quite good, but from what I've seen I highly doubt your ability to live up to the promise of the application and play a Head well. Not everyone is capable of filling a white-listed position properly, and I firmly believe that you are one of these people.
  6. While I agree that People shouldn't presume that you automatically speak this language which is more rare than it is today. There are still enclaves where languages like (Traditional) English, German, Russian, Mandarin, Spanish and such still exist and some characters may or may not speak those languages. But yeah, people shouldn't run around speaking Latin and asking space-Russians why they're not drinking Vodka.
  7. This was a thing in Athena code for a time, and Bay code too for awhile I think. It's troublesome to code (I think anyway) but it is possible
  8. Please. Stop. The scientific side is relevant only to a point, a point that has been far since surpassed. I'm personally against this because it's hardly seriously, I doubt seriously it'd promote roleplay for anything beyond "Oh, you have a blue squirrel corpse...I'll stay away from you now." While I'm certainly in agreement with Frances that scientists could have more contraptions of their own design. I think this is excessive. But yeah, this is my opinion. Also, I'm severely disappointed on the part of EVERYONE in this thread. It went from a discussion to straight-up rudeness that serves no point other than to be an asshole. Stop.
  9. People took centuries to overcome differences between Humans (And there's still racism that's extremely prevalent in some places). The Alien races have all been discovered relatively recently in our lore, it's gonna be decades before they're more accepted than this.
  10. As a reminder. Flavor texts are supposed to be objective physical descriptions. What one person finds "Cute", another person wouldn't, so don't put that in your flavor text. Nor "Beautiful", "Attractive", "Flawless" nor "Pretty" She might have "Flowing brown hair" but she won't have "Gorgeous hair the color of tree bark, flowing down from her flawless shoulders." So yeah, plz stahp
  11. I really like this... It just looks better, and feels better than our current Centcom. Plus it's more flushed out than current centcom
  12. I actually really like those IDs
  13. What he said. This is beyond silly...
  14. Hiya Kerbs. I do, but not because of any problem you have. For anyone who doesn't know, I have a neurologically degenerative disease called Huntington's disease, which is active in my case (Though still in its early stages). Huntington's has a bunch of treatment options that try to make your life a lot more comfortable, but it's currently uncurable (Though progress is being made). The fact that I'm dieing slowly is depressing enough as is, though I've learned to come to terms with that. As Huntington's IS a neurological disorder, it tends to fuck up your nervous system, which causes (But is not limited to) - Chorea (Involuntary jerking/writhing) - Muscle problems (Contractions, rigidity, that fun stuff) - Difficulty in focusing on tasks - Tendency to get stuck on thoughts (You'll basically obsess about something and be utterly unable to stop) - Loss of Impulse control and as I was getting to. - Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder - Mania - Bipolar disorder I try not to make it immensely noticeable, but I do indeed have bouts of insufferable, soul-crushing depression. Though I am rather heavily medicated in an attempt to lessen the symptoms, as anyone whose taken anti-depressants knows they're not always even remotely effective. So nah brah. You're not alone here. Sorry if this came off as self-centered, but I thought I should explain the reason behind my issues.
  15. I like the idea of these as supplementary icons, not as replacements.
  16. Cpt. Neckbeard returns!
  17. Scopes told me it was a bug. So And honestly, this suggestion (At-least in its wording) comes off as rude. Our development team is extremely busy fixing bugs and generally attempting to make the server a more enjoyable place for all of you, While I admit there are some problems with the IPCs. It is not their fault, blame BS-12 if you want to blame anyone, given time I'm sure the developers will attempt to make IPCs more enjoyable, but as previously said. They have a lot of work to do, bitching about this sort of stuff doesn't do anything but annoy them.
  18. I honestly think tear-gas would fill this role better.
  19. Is this a legitimate concern? I don't see where you are going with this. Its a Joke
  20. Made by a friend of mine. As a concept thingy for a tattoo
  21. Pump was simply given permission to RP an animal, Scopes did not give him permission to "Chucklefuck" and we trusted him to act appropriately. From what I've seen, he betrayed that trust with this Un-RP behavior, which broke immersion. I'm fully for punishing him in some manner in response to this happening yet again.
  22. I love the new IDs, however don't quite like the PDAs.
  23. Looking back at this situation, While I don't agree that I specifically needed to warn him again. I think I should've at least had a brief conversation before muting him. As for the duration, the round was 3ish hours in and I believe a transfer shuttle had been called. So it wouldn't have been very long honestly. I've moderated, administrated and otherwise worked on SS-13 servers for a very long time. More than most players on Aurora have even played the game. I've dealt with situations like this numerous times and I honestly believed that the situation would've continued had I not done what I did. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that from what I've seen before, I believe it would've. I fully accept that it might not have however, I'm not omniscient Again, while I believe that the mute was justified. I should've at-least have a brief conversation with you before doing so. I may have jumped the gun on this regard, and I fully accept that. I also whole-heartedly appreciate how you've handled this in a semi-professional manner and not wildly accused me of being an asshole for muting you. As much as I like Tish, and I appreciate him "Rushing to my defense" I'm inclined to side with you here. LetzShake did have a valid point in me being "rushed" in my handling of his situation. There's no need to yell him down for this. I never thought he honestly meant to "Undermine" my authority. I simply thought it was disrespectful and rude Unrelated, but I am a woman. I make no demands to be respected, though I thought I did have the respect of some players due to dealing with them in a courteous manner and having a (relatively) long-term friendly relationship with many of the players. I apologize sincerely if I gave off the air that I "Demanded" respect, I had no intent to do that and am saddened by the fact that you thought I was. Overall, I do see the points that many of you have and I accept fully that I could've handled this better, although I still believe that the mute was justified. I think a conversation with him in-which he could've have the opportunity to explain himself would've been warranted. I'm sorry for not handling this the best way I could've and will endeavor to do so in the future
  24. Humans -can- learn it. It is established in the lore that Humans can. Any argument against that is moot.
