+1 Biased of course, but for good reason as they're my partner in Tajaran crime. A great RPer and the item is a great little cosmetic to add flavour.

[Accepted]Calamari - Griffin's Skrell App
TG_Griffin replied to TG_Griffin's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I shall, though it's no issue! In regards to the questions here. "How do they feel about off-Federation Skrell?" Tulik would be somewhat hesitant to interact with them, being born and raised by a Quya who hold the Federation's ideals close to heart as well as spending the majority of their life within Federation space where it's ideals and culture were what they grew up with. Additionally with the extensive vetting, checking and investigative process the Federation put into outsider-Skrell Tulik would consider most to lack the same level of skills that Federation Skrell would otherwise posses. "How about Dionae and Vaurca?" Tulik would regard them, as well as Unathi with a great deal of interest. Viewing them perhaps more as something to study and learn about then as co-workers and peers. A big part of Tuliks upbringing being their passion for and work on various subjects of Xeno-Anthropology. "Why did you use 'father' as a descriptor?" I used father mostly to represent what sort of position that specific figure is to Tulik in regards to their Quya, similarly to how Talquwoo is somewhat of a Grandparent figure to them. It's more for the reader then something Tulik uses or says. "Are they a Listener or Receiver?" Tulik is currently a receiver of the wake, having undergone personality testing via the Federation before leaving for Human space. -
BYOND Key: TG_Griffin Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Light or navy blue, perhaps a lemon or banana yellow. Depending on how the sprite looks. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I initially wasn’t that interested in Skrell, having played on the Aurora for a few years I've had the pleasure of watching the species turn from a minor and somewhat background race to one that is played regularly by people who’ve built great characters from the deep and interesting lore that’s been implemented. After various IC interactions and reading the lore myself i’d like to have a Skrell. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: There are many different defining features of Skrell that knock the nail on the head when we consider something Alien. The first being that Skrell and Skrell culture is deeply dipped in the use of Psionics, the use of which upon “non-consenting” aliens being both illegal and frowned upon. Second, their anatomy, something to be expected when comparing two alien races. Skrell do not have the facial emotional range as humans and instead display emotion preliminary through their head-tails, their skin is also moist, a byproduct from their home-planet, this varies from Skrell to Skrell. Culturally Skrell sees many social cues differently to humans, gender is not a big consideration and they are generally polyamerous in nature. Finally their lifespans, easily one of the longest lived of all races many things that shorter-lived races, such as humans would consider major are often minor thoughts or issues for Skrell. Character Name: Tulik Plip’Talquwoo Tulik was born to a loving Quya in 2386 on Jargon IV’s moon, Qerr’Malic. Considered a miracle by their Quya due to the near complete lack of Skrell births they were coddled greatly. Though loving their father was strict and always put Tulik under pressure during their young life which caused them to seek solace in older members of their Quya, specifically a member that helped raise their father known as Talquoo. Talquoo was a leading specialist in Xenosciences, including Xenoarchaeology and Xenoanthropology. Having lived through the first interactions with humans and the alliance between the two races that quickly sprung up. Tulik took an extreme interest in their work and the many stories that they were told by Talquoo which influenced Tulik to follow in Talquoo’s footsteps. Tragedy struck Tulik with the passing of Talquoo and in a mix of grief and respect Tulik added their name to their own. Driven by their passion for Xenosciences and the pressure from their father Tulik applied for the Gliutip’lyaz University, scraping through the entrance exam they went on to study for twenty-three years with their grades occasionally only scraping by, they were not top of the class. Their graduation was held in high regard by their Quya with them all attending to show support and to congratulate them. Post graduation Tulik took up work on Qerr’Malic studying various imported Xeno-lifeforms and submitted a few papers on them during their time working there. However Tulik had grown somewhat curious of what else was out there and spending so much time working with Xenofauna within the confines of a lab they desired to study and experience them within their natural habitat. Wrapping up their work along with an emotional goodbye to their Quya Tulik set out for human space, finding themselves first working on Biesel before finding employment with Nanotransen where they were somewhat head-hunted for their previous work and education in Xenofauna. What do you like about this character? The thing I really like about Tulik, from an out of character perspective is that they’ve taught me alot about Skrell that I was previously ignorant too. From an in-character perspective, their respect for the elders of their Quya and the passion that Talquoo passed on to them to drive them into a profession that they learned to love themselves feels like a fun place to start off with both a new character and a new race. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I’d give it a 8 out of score. I’ve had experience roleplaying on SS13 for nearly four years now along with many previous years on and in other communities.

To clear up some history here, I had to give you a large number of warnings and a brief temp ban revolving around your antagonistic gameplay and fact that you had not properly read the rules at the time AND continued to display a lack of understanding in both the rules and basic antagonist gameplay, Rules that I have linked to you before in tickets. You were permanently banned you due to the string of rule-breaks i'd witnessed in such a short amount of time, all of which related to your antag gameplay. I can see however you do enjoy playing here and given the room you can develop and prove to be a great and cohesive roleplayer, though you need to prove that to myself and the rest of the staff team. I will be lifting the ban on the condition we start seeing a genuine improvement and an understanding of the rules. Locking and Archiving

I'm writing feedback based on how it's being implemented in the test merges, though I have looked through the planned features and tweaks. Firstly, the work that has gone into this and the work that's planned are impressive and I respect fully those working on this as its something I have no clue about nor am I talented enough to try my hand at it. I don't like it personally. It feels clunky and forced reality/perspective in a top-down 2D game with role-play at it's core does not feel right. In its current state it makes the game personally unplayable for me with people just disappearing and reappearing once they travel behind your character. As has been said previously perception is more then just seeing people. If it's not broke, there's no need to fix it.

Staff Complaint - TG_Griffin / Rule Clarification
TG_Griffin replied to MissFox's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
I received multiple admin helps (Roughly two-three) in regards to your role play and the nature of it. Upon investigation and some feedback from the rest of the staff team I found the conduct to be in breach of our ERP rules. Sexual and erotic emotes, which include moaning or extended make-out periods breach these rules. A simple hug, or single kiss do not. You were warned due to it being a repeat offence, you were talked too and noted the first time this happened. Not really too much else to say here, however these are the logs from the incident. I am not required to show you your notes during a ticket, however for some clarity I shall here. -
Cnaym's Wiki Maintainer Application

Basic Information Byond Account: TG_Griffin Character Name(s): AI Name(s): None (I do not play AI) Discord username + tag: Chips#1338 (Griffin as nickname) Age: 23 Timezone: UK, GMT When are you on Aurora?: Evenings, generally from 5-6pm until 12-3am (Depending on work etc) Experience How long have you played SS13?: I’ve been playing since early 2017 How long have you played on Aurora: As above, I've spent most of my SS13 time on Aurora. Since 2017 How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: At this point i’m fairly confident in my ability to play the game from a mechanic’s side. I’ve had the chance to try out and SOMEWHAT master most departments aside from perhaps science. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I do, I used to moderate Aurora before I stepped down due to not having enough time with both exams and study taking the forefront of my time. (I now have enough time to dedicate to Aurora) Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: Yes Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have not! Personality Why do you play SS13?: The near unlimited flexibility in both what you can do and how it is all simulated, from atmospherics to characters' health to the way everything interconnects and has a purpose aboard the station. It's the only game I know that if you THINK you can do it, you probably can do it, and I love that open-sandbox’y feel. Why do you play on Aurora?: I love roleplay, SS13 as stated above is probably one of the best mediums to engage in roleplay through a video-game format. I also started on Aurora back in 2017 when one of my buddies introduced me to it and I have a nostalgic loyalty to the server specifically. What do moderators do?: Moderators are here to observe the round and players within, they ensure the round progresses smoothly and step forward to deal with any player conflicts and rule-breaks. They also aid players with any questions or queries they may have and if unable to deal with an issue. I.E asking for a respawn, they’ll pass it up to an Admin with the permissions and ability to do so. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: A moderator on the Aurora is someone who is on the frontline of player-staff interaction. You’re a role-model and a source of information and help for players, new and old. You’re embroiled in the community through Discord, the forums and the game itself and you represent the server if outside of it. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Aurora has been my SS13 home for the last three years of playing SS13. I am engaged with the lore and themes of the station and I actively enjoy interacting with the community. I was a moderator in the past and after returning to the server and playing once more I'd like to once again pick up where I left off and continue working with staff and the community to keep Aurora running. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I’ve had experience in the past moderating for Aurora so I already know what the expectations are and the unique situations that crop up through various tickets. I understand the stresses that come with the role as well as the responsibility and I believe I'm personable enough that members of the community and other staff members will feel comfortable when interacting with me. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I’m mature enough to know that most insults are made due to a player being frustrated or upset and i’ll brush them off, if it gets to the point however where I begin to feel stressed out or angry i’ll take a step back and allow another member of staff to come in and take over for me. Everyone can have a bad day, staff or players and it can reflect poorly and be counter-productive if a member of staff takes a ticket in a poor mood. Anything Else You Want to Add: Alb once traded me sub-par ERP for my old mod app’s success. I expect the same here ❤️ (I have proof)

I'm not going to add much as many problems have been pointed out, however you can't make a Red Tajara. The closest would be Orange as a Njarir'Akhran. I'd really really suggest going over the lore-page with some more scrutiny and adjust the application accordingly. https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Tajara

Roostercat mrowls aggressively
TG_Griffin replied to Roostercat's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have had many interactions with Roosters characters, their app looks like they've got a decent knowledge of Tajara and i'm confident they can do the race justice. +1 from me -
Colour me excited!

In regards to knives. I think it'd only make sense for Nanotransen to let Cargo have box-cutting or pen-knives and obviously the kitchen for cooking needs. Logically there's no reason Nanotransen would let everyone carry sharp and dangerous implements outside of tiny little key-knives that are like 3-6cm long.

ShesTrrrrying to be a Cat
TG_Griffin replied to ShesTrying's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Played with a few of their characters and i've got no complains. Qoi is especially one of my favourite characters to interact with. The backstory and reasoning seems solid and they look like they've a solid grasp on both Tajara and how to roleplay in general. This should be no problem for them. Ploose Juan +1 -

[ACCEPTED] Toska's Vaurca App
TG_Griffin replied to Toska's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've known Toska for a long time and supported her through her other white-list applications and shes always done the different races justice. So a big +1 from me. The application as a whole shows a good understanding of the Vaurca, their hives, queens and touches upon the important basics, though It would be good to see the why and how behind it joining NT however! -
No IC in OOC Avoid discussing events of the current round in OOC. Exceptions might apply for minor, funny events, but use common sense. Note that IC in OOC is permitted after the transfer/emergency shuttle has left the station. I was going to post my own logs however they were provided. In the lobby or not you should always take care with what's being said on the global OOC channel as it can easily be IC spoilers, a light warning was given as a reminder to be careful with whats being said over that chat. HOWEVER This has been reviewed, checking extended logs and such. The warning will be removed.

Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: TG_Griffin Character Name(s): Ka'Akaix'Vett K'lax, Kharzin Prrulvorrvich, Aisha El-Kabir, Elzurus Sesk, Tigo Arze & Myra Mrrazhranni are my most played right now. AI Name(s): I don’t have a dedicated A.I. Preferred means of contact: Discord: Griffin#1338 or Steam: TG_Griffin Age: 21 Timezone: GMT When are you on Aurora?: Daily. Usually in the evenings at around 4PM - 12PM GMT, though if I have a day off work/University i’ll be on earlier. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Started April 2017, been on and off since then. Total of around 5-6 months. How long have you played on Aurora: 5-6 months. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know a lot of the ingame mechanics. From basic movement and item interaction to understanding character needs and warnings based on the ingame GUI. I also have an understanding of most of the ingame jobs and their mechanics. Though I am still learning. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I’ve never moderated an SS13 server before but I have extensive experience moderating, running and owning my own servers and communities for other games. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have not been banned. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I realise that this answer will tie in a lot with the next question. I mainly play SS13 for the roleplay side. The mechanics, depth and ability to do almost whatever you can think of makes it the perfect platform for roleplaying in my opinion. Why do you play on Aurora?: As stated above, I mainly play SS13 to roleplay. Aurorastation offers me the option to play in a heavy roleplay environment with a rich and engaging lore to back it up. Combined with the expanding universe, dynamic and unique species and the team behind the entire server. Aside from the ingame reasons, I really enjoy interacting with the community and staff, the banter and general jovial nature that most of the community have towards each other speaks volumes and makes the server very attractive. This is what keeps me coming back to it. What do moderators do?: A moderators workload mainly consists of observing the round and the players. They are there to make sure the round progresses in an orderly and fun manor, dealing with any player conflicts and rule breaks. However they are also there to aid the players, answering any questions that may pop up, from ingame mechanics, jobs and server lore. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: To be a moderator for Aurora is to be more involved in the community, to be a role model to new players and to be someone thats friendly and approachable, and knowledgeable, able to answer questions and guide players as well as resolve conflicts and any situations that may arise. Why do you want to be a moderator?: My first experience with Byond and SS13 was through Aurora, I chose this server due to the fact it was tailored to people who enjoyed heavy RP. After playing for the better part of half a year, learning the lore, making mistakes and becoming attached to the server I want a chance to join the team. help out with the community and help with running the server. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I’ve had experience in the past moderating, both in roles that are gameplay and community focused. I understand the stresses that come with the role as well as the responsibility. The moderators and admins of a server are the face of the server. I’m friendly and approachable and I enjoy interacting with the community, through answering questions or sharing memes and bantering. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Insults I generally respond to with either a light hearted joke or by brushing them off. Due to past experience in moderating I believe i’m fully able and capable of dealing with the stresses that comes with it, I can keep a cool head and break situations down to smaller and more manageable chunks. However i'm only human and if it comes to the point where I feel angry or upset I generally take a step back from whatever is the cause of the anger, to cool off and regain proper judgement. BYOND Key: TG_Griffin Character Names: Tigo Arze, Aisha El-Kabir, Kharzin Prrulvorrvich and Elzurus Sesk are who I play the most. Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Ta'Akaix' Xakt'yagz'isk Zo'ra Unbound: RGB 91, 31, 0 Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I seriously love this race, perhaps more than any other and I think it is a shame that you don’t see many of them around the station. This is partially why i’d like to play one, to promote the species and add to their population. What really stands out to me however is their caste structure, as one of those mud-dwelling insect lovers the chance to play a species which is heavily inspired by many real life insect examples as well as famous fantasy insectoid creatures (Like the prawns from District 9) is not something i’d pass up. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Vaurca are as far from humans as you could possibly get, with the exception of the Diona. Vaurca, to start are a carapaced insectoid race. They act in a similar manner to ants, bees or termites in that they have different castes which each perform distinct roles. Warriors fight, defend and guard the hive. Workers as the name suggests do everything from building to cooking. Breeders, queens and subqueens keep the Vaurca population growing with the latter ruling over their respective hives. Another large difference between humans and Vaurca is their exposure to and reliance on VR. Something that is a vital part of their lives and potential afterlife. Character Name: Ka’Akaix’Tikk Zo’ra Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ka’Akaix’Tikk Zo’ra’s life began as most unbound begin their life. From the moment it was laid as one of Ta'Akaix' Xakt'yagz'isk Zo'ra’s brood it was destined to become an Akaix worker. After spending six months in one of the hives expansive nursery chambers, its brain had developed enough to be implanted with the neural socket. From there it underwent a further six month transition where knowledge of the hive and its culture was directly fed into its brain. As with most unbound who are a part of Ta'Akaix' Xakt'yagz'isk Zo'ra’s brood, Ka’Akaix’Tikk Zo’ra joined the ranks of its fellow Vaurca in their queens VR once fully matured. They were tasked with the ever important and seemingly endless project of constructing, examining and reviewing both ancient and modern schematics. Each project had a goal, in accordance to the Queens primary objective, to improve or build upon the Vaurca’s current technology and find a way to better industrialize their new home. As such, Ka’Akaix’Tikk Zo’ra found itself with a large group of unbound working on various innovations used to aid in the growing, nurturing and cultivation of exotic flora, specifically in an attempt to find a way to improve upon the K’ois harvest that is so prevalent on their world of Luthien. This role fit Tikk perfectly as, like with many of its hive, it had an invested interest in taking apart objects in order to discover how they tick, often holding a few of its own side projects when not working with the others. One of Tikk’s pursuits that brought it particular joy was its work on minor atmospheric management devices, which it would pour countless hours of it’s free time into. It hoped that with this contraption it could improve the overall quality of life for unbound within the Bio-domes of Luthien. As with all the lesser queens of Zo’ra, and their broods, Ta'Akaix' Xakt'yagz'isk Zo'ra had made multiple deals with NanoTransen in the form of tithes in exchange for their place on Luthien. When the time came for payment, Ka’Akaix’Tikk Zo’ra was one of the many to be shuttled off to NanoTranen’s orbital facilities to join the workforce. Tikk itself was part of the small contingent of laborers sent to the NSS Aurora and was taken on as an Engineering apprentice due to its experience with machinery in the past. What do you like about this character? Tikk is a simple character, though by all means not bland. I enjoy the fact that it’s a character doesn’t have to have a backstory filled with conflict and heroics, but you still get the depth of character you wouldn’t see in a bound. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I’ve got experience in multiple races now on Aurora and across multiple different roleplay platforms. That doesn’t mean I know what i’m doing though and i’ll happily admit I have much to learn! So 7/10. Notes: Feedback is appreciated!

[Accepted]Griffin's Tajara Whitelist
TG_Griffin replied to TG_Griffin's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I was under the impression Malik was still selling Zhan-Khazan etc to NanoTransen due to this exert in the wiki: "His brother and vice-president Njadrasanukii Hadii quickly assumed the office of the presidency and immediately passed brutal laws that punished Zhan-Khazans and 'subversive elements'. NanoTrasen was invited back to Adhomai and menial workers were sold en masse to NanoTrasen workplaces while the rights to the bountiful natural resources of Adhomai were sold off to NanoTrasen." However if that's not the case, the issue of him being sold can easily be fixed to his contract/writ of work that he had with the store owner was sold to NanoTransen. Yeah the writing there was a bit metaphorical. NT does pump money into the PRA in exchange for workers, but the workers aren't strictly slaves. Maybe in the abstract sense of belonging to a totalitarian government and having few liberties, but the transaction described here is that the worker and his government gets paid if the worker decides to shuttle off to work for NT. Just fix that one detail in the application and everything else is good enough to go. Ah, I understand. I thought it was more of a literal: "We're selling them, they have no rights." Either way, its been fixed up now with his contact being sold off. -
