  1. The idea is that drawing dicks or random stuff all over the floor in crayon be considered equivalent to running around preaching the worship of clowns, unless there is a valid religious reason behind it beyond "it looks cool lol". Thus allowing HoP/IAA/Security/Captain to crack down on goofy and unrealistic chaplains, at their discretion.
  2. Perhaps an example of an experience I had when I played Cadet might sway your opinion: I once had a warden who ordered me to file the paperwork for a warrant. They then tried to create an incident report for incarcerating someone manually, and was unsure where processing even was. As Warden. This is ridiculous, and could be prevented by a stronger filter than just a week long wait time from the very first moment you log on.
  3. Make it so that, in order to play Security, you have to have a certain amount of playtime as Cadet registered. 3 rounds was suggested, and sounds fine to me. Pros: - Higher quality Security officers - Less chances of new players trying to jump in as important Security roles without understanding it, since they can very easily come here once, leave for a week, then pop back in in time to play as Security - Less people who've played security on other servers assuming they will know how to play it here and joining as Officer immediately - Due to Less security, Security may be more likely to look to Research for improved equipment, leading to more interdepartmental interaction Cons: - Less Security - Cadet will be a much harder role to obtain - Some people may feel put off by the difficulty in accessing Security - Due to the smaller amount of Security, more other departments may attempt to Validhunt
  4. I'm sure we've all seen it. A chaplain will walk around in a black robe, hood on, and screaming about how everyone should be worshiping a crowbar, or a mop, or something equally ridiculous. Or drawing weird stuff on the floor in crayon. Now, maybe its just me, but I've never seen nor heard of a chaplain that ever did something like this in real life. And while I realize that not everything has to be super realistic in 2D spessmens, a man in a weird robe walking into a room, drawing some random things on the floor in crayon, and then asking me if I believe in our lord and savior Ian doesn't scream "This is a man hired by a powerful corporation after being screened for mental and physical issues, to provide spiritual services, guidance, and even therapy, plus the occasional cremation, on a high-tech expensive research and mining station." Therefore, I suggest two things: Ridiculous things by chaplains be considered Hooliganism/Neglect of Duty, or even cause to be sent to the psych, and that drawing runes, letters, etc, no longer be considered acceptable, with the crayons removed from their locker. If it's really necessary, then make it so Chaplains have to provide a valid reason for them to be marking the ground. Pros: - Higher quality Chaplains - Less LRP style behavior Cons: - Some may feel it restricts their ability to make a character the way they want - May result in less Chaplains
  5. I'd be interested in doing this. I'm no wizard, but I understand the basics to dorfiness. Only concern is, would me using a non-default tileset break anything?
  6. 60 brute I think destroys a limb. I think maybe 40-45, and the object being embedded in the limb would work better, since its still massive damage (About a quarter of your overall health) and ensures that whatever you've shoved in there stays in there.
  7. Maybe its just me, but I don't know if that's the right way to handle it. By making it so the drawback is difficulty/time to obtain, instead of something more direct, people will just either become efficient enough at it that they get something big early on (and then do the same things people did when genetics existed), or it will be seen as a waste of time, where theoretically you could produce something useful, but it would take a lot of time, luck, and skill (Like virology, where it's incredibly difficult to get anything useful/worthwhile out of a virus). I feel like if you made it so the abilities themselves weren't all that spectacular, or came at a great cost to even use, there would be much less mechanical incentive to try and get them.
  8. Most of the Psionic powers suggested in the OP sound like antag-tier powers, and something that shouldn't be given to random crew. I do like the idea of Psionic powers being a thing, but they should be so weak so as to be almost useless, or with massive drawbacks, like causing brain damage or traumas on the user. Or maybe with both of those, so that you have a weak, almost useless version of the power, and then can "overload", causing brain damage to yourself and entering halloss crit, and with a massive cooldown, thus meaning its not something anyone can spam, or would even be willing to. Hide it behind a whitelist too, to help in preventing chucklefuckery. Examples: Telepathy, but only with people already in your line of sight. Useful in vacuums, or to the mute, but otherwise pointless. Could be "overloaded" to talk with someone further away, but this would come at heavy cost. Telekinesis, but can only be used on normal or smaller sized objects, has a decent cooldown to prevent it from being used much in combat, and can't be used through windows(Maybe it works as you using the power, and then a "telekinesis grab" item spawns in your hand, with you click an object with, and then can use to throw said object). Can be overloaded to be used again before cooldown ends, but at heavy cost. Sensitivity, literally just the ability to see if someone else is psionic when shift+clicking them. Cannot be overloaded, tells you nothing else. Additionally, Synthetics should not be able to use these. EDIT: Fuck, just remembered Dionae, a species that can't feel pain or get brain damage exist. Maybe just have them not be able to use it because of their collective style consciousness not working for it, or something?
  9. This has been added In the recent merge, so could this discussion be considered finished?
  10. Since crawling has been implemented, could this discussion be considered moot and thus dismissed?
  11. Going to have to give it a -1 too. The concept of a "mother being" seems like a stretch for species that reproduces asexually and doesn't care for it's "young".
  12. Okay, a lot of good suggestions about the non-antag half of this. What about the antag part?
  13. The title essentially says it all. Make it so that diona replicant pods are one of the random weeds that can overtake a plot.
  14. Add ambrosia seeds with a gene to allow them to grow on the floor to the traitor uplink, so if someone decides to set up a drug operation as their antag gimmick, they can do so. The reason I want the ambrosia to be able to grow on the floor is so that, even if someone's in a role where they can't access hydro, and they're too worried about sec busting them in the public garden, they can plant them in a back room somewhere instead. The bit about drugs being in load out has been removed.
  15. Make it so you can choose not to eat it entirely, but instead put it in the mask slot like a cigarette. Or maybe even make it so that's how you eat it. Either way, easy +1 from me.
  16. Maybe this is a bad idea, but I think one way it could be done is to make it automatically stop aiming at the victim when triggered, but have no cooldown, effectively meaning that you would have to click on them again. So you'd only really hit a person with it if your shot was going to hit them anyway, and it would function basically the same as regular shooting but with more delay between clicking on a person and the shot being taken, depending on your settings. And with the added benefit of a click sound effect, a target sprite appearing on the person, and a message in chat telling them that a gun is pointed at them, but has not been fired yet.
  17. Have to agree with tbear on his point with grey tide, seems fairly risky, to make an unwhitelisted role with command access. Though I do sometimes feel like a "Command Assistant" role could be nice, it's very easy to ask the captain or HoP to be a command assistant/Secretary.
  18. The only upside I see here is being able to do subtle accents and silly voices easier, but in most ways this would just be awful.
  19. White spiders here will also put eggs in people (speaking from experience, one once split me in half, because the eggs were in my lower body and it gibbed when the eggs hatched), so it is possible this was a spider attack that went further than most usually do. As for the application itself, I don't really know you, or your chars, but the fact that you made this app for RP reasons and don't seem too focused on mechanical advantages/disadvantages seems like a good thing to me.
  20. It would make it clearer to people what they should and shouldn't know how to do. +1
  21. Reading through this old thread and... goddamn. It saddens me to see this concept kind of fizzled away.
  22. Without beating the cultist in question to near death?
  23. Honestly I feel like this would help make duct tape more useful than just a cheap way to silence/restrain people, and tack paper to walls.
  24. So long as it still takes a shard and a shell, and isn't some cult ability to instantly become a construct, I think that could work.
  25. +1 would be a nice tweak also I think if this gets added for the first few days a lot of people are going to be rapid fire flipping the lights on and off listening to that satisfying *click*
