  1. Done, give me a bit to get home.
  2. I’d like to minimize changing the existing lore (though there is one adjustment I am dying to make). Instead, I’d like to flesh out what’s already there and ultimately, I’d like to draw attention away from glorsh. As it stands, glorsh is the first thing most players think of when they think of the skrell. I would like to begin to emphasize their culture, tech, and place in politics in place of glorsh, leaving glorsh a key piece in their lore, but developing the skrellian identity beyond ‘cute frogs that were all kind of murdered pretty recently’. We can accomplish a lot by taking what is currently micro and bringing it out into the macro.
  3. Mechanically, I would love to give the skrell two extra known languages and open up the languages they may select to include a few more options (sol common, in particular.). The skrell are known for an enthusiasm for arts and culture, and I feel that broadening their linguistic capabilities could reflect this mechanically while also offering some small incentive to play the species. I have also toyed with the idea of giving them a little bit of natural brute and burn healing, increasing the rate that they recover from these damages (including stopping bleeding), because of their squishy skin. In terms of lore representation, the way the lore is written now, the skrell should be much more involved in human news and affairs. One idea I have played with is making the skrell more influential in tau ceti, in particular. I would like to bring skrellian cultural ambassadors on station during a few canon rounds, I would like to begin having human news make reference to skrellian officials. The overall implication I would like to make is that they preside over human affairs in an almost parental sort of way, watching and occasionally making small adjustments to influence current events. I’d love to see human characters developing opinions about skrellian influence and politics, liking and trusting them for their help and support, resenting them for the amount of control they may or may not have, etc., because ultimately, that is what will get people to start applying for skrell whitelists and getting invested in the species’ news and lore.
  4. That’s up to you, jackboot. I think I was pretty clear that I didn’t have hostile intent and I take IRs as IC and irrelevant to ooc opinions. If you tell me you are still impartial, I trust you. It’s your decision either way.
  5. I don’t intend to respond. I asked my questions, that’s all I dropped in to do. I was told by Alb to post the screenshots so I did. I’m not looking for an argument. *shrug*
  6. I had an issue about a week ago where a cadet had pulled a gun on my paramedic, and then on a miner. Without an HoS present, I ordered a borg to arrest the cadet. Willow Harper stood between the borg and the traitor cadet, apparently her friend, going so far even as to uncuff him, and threatening my cmo.
  7. Seeing Jackboot make his grand return, I have some concerns. I seem to recall there being issues with infighting with command before, and I worry this has not improved yet. I'm going to try to present the following as fairly as possible as a note, because I'm really not looking for a fight here. So, we interacted a little on Heist, me as CMO, Jackboot as HoS. We immediately fought as a visitor threw trash on my floor and refused to pick it up. It the usual Fernando over-reacting-over-petty-bullshit way, I called the medical lockdown and told the visitor they could leave once they threw away their trash. This is absolutely questionable , on my part, I know, but the fact that Jackboot immediately jumped to threatening kidnapping charges was also hugely problematic. My next issue, in the same round, were some communication issues. We all know OOCly that comms are compromised in heist, but I feel like acting like they are is kind of metagaming, and that command has an obligation to communicate with one another. I'm not sure an HoS should ever be saying the following to command when they're asked to brief them without knowing for certain comms are compromised. That all being said, I have some questions while you are on trial. Is this a playstyle you intend to keep for your characters? Do you believe your levels of communication were acceptable? How would you possibly improve upon them? Do you intend to try and improve upon some of the past complaints of being overly aggressive and argumentative with command, or do you consider that a nonissue?
  8. Are you going to do a poll?
  9. I don’t understand what the development team doesn’t get about 3 pages of -1s, several coming from staff. Listen to the community. If they don’t play, you don’t get a server.
  10. All praise Doc. +1. But seriously. Doc is a wonderful, constructive member of this community, and I think she can do a lot for development.
  11. Ckey/BYOND Username: Resilynn Position Being Applied For (coder, mapper, spriter): Skrell Lore Dev Past Experiences/Knowledge: I have developed lore for the start up (and since mostly disbanded) Eridani station, focusing largely on space and technology. I have my own pretty little Skrell whitelist and am pretty knowledgeable on their current lore and history. Examples of Past Work: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13B3k34A3Odml_e0KnqjqdbWYZGGixku85xOfK4ZucTE/edit?usp=sharing A wiki page writen for Eridani Lore. Essay: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GazI2S4puHkgWTiboGJLelFqa7GMRdC2fW6VFO6TOTk/edit?usp=sharing Preferred Mode of Communication (Skype, Steam, etc.): Discord, Resi #7437 Additional Comments: I think I'm finally ready to step up and offer more to the server than just being everyone's favorite asshole CMO. I play regularly, I love interacting with the community, and I am open to feedback on development. I have a professional background in writing, development, and production in real life, so this would definitely be within my skill set. Most importantly, I have a vision for the Skrell. They are our most technologically advanced species in lore, something that we do very little with. I would like to explore the Skrell's relationship with humanity, especially in regards to technology, in much more depth than has already been done. I think the addition of a few more details in regards to their advancement could not only flesh out the Skrell as a race, but create a richer lore for the universe in general. For example, do they share everything with humanity? Why? How much oversight/power/help do they demand in exchange for these advancements? What do they hold back and why? How are they using this influence in relation to AI development? I feel like answering these questions with the help of the rest of the lore team could serve to revitalize the Skrell's place, both IC and OOC, on our server.
  12. The fact that EMTs can't get into science and cargo, where we see the absolute most injuries, is ridiculous. Half the time I have to go let my EMT in. +5
  13. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the pen used for anything but kidnapping rp. It’s never used as a gank, which is the whole point of reducing stun based combat. It costs 6 telecrystals which is kind of a lot for a single use item. -1, not that -1s seem to matter.
  14. I'm obviously very biased here, but maybe some background will help with my +1. Our characters absolutely did not like one another in the beginning. I'd assumed CanadianDollar was one of THOSE people with some kind of salty self insert. Instead, I discovered they were a great person who excelled at keeping their IC and OOC opinions separate. This allowed for really, really great in game development. Frankly, I'm surprised CanadianDollar doesn't already have a whitelist with Aurora, they've played for a long time, and they've done great with command on other servers I have played with them. Their mechanical knowledge of the game is sound, and their RP is consistent and good. If I'm being entirely fair, I do think they have a tendency to get bored and leave midround, which can be hugely problematic in command especially, but they've been improving on this recently.
  15. This, taken today, is exactly why I do not believe Burger is ready to have any additional responsibility on this server.
  16. Why is this an issue?
  17. I know, but the position wasn’t common enough to have a glass door entry.
  18. I don’t think these values should be copy-pasted in for when we have persistent economy- after all, we all have bills- rent, utilities, student debt, living expenses. Our pocket spending money per week is probably at most a fourth of these values. Considering that should balance things. All the same, my hope is that this creates a more realistic scale of income disparity and provides a good idea of what each position can afford for when we come up with our background details. If it were mechanically implemented, we would absolutely have to scale down to account for bills, living expenses, and balance.
  19. Some edits were made: Chief engineer salary was added, shaman income is equal to chaplain.
  20. So, I know we already have income lore, buuuut I don't like what I've heard (mainly, that command pulls in 4,000 a week, which makes no sense if 1 USD= 3 credits.) So! I went through all job titles, found the IRL equivalent for most of the incomes, and then looked at the other station incomes and balanced things out. Any jobs where I have not used the IRL equivalent job's annual income for the NT job's annual income list how and why the income was adjusted under notes. My hope is this can provide an idea of how much each job makes in relation to one another. Keep in mind, these incomes are for humans. A vaurca would, of course, probably make 20% the amount of the human income. I leave it up to the lore guys to tell me how much each species makes in comparison to one another, on average. Anyway, BEHOLD! COMMAND SERVICE CARGO ENGINEERING MEDICAL RESEARCH SECURITY
  21. I still feel like the most recent fight I’ve seen burger get into was a discord argument just two days ago. Staff should be constructive and cooperative and, to a certain degree, mature. I think burger has the technical skills to do a lot for the server, really. I don’t agree with their direction very often but codewise, from what I understand, it’s sound, and they’ve done a couple of cool things. But I don’t think burger is there yet in terms of being able to accept criticism and empathize/communicate with the community, which is absolutely crucial for staff to be able to do.
  22. No, you know what, fuck it. Give me a beautiful medbay on that ship and I’m all for this.
