[Accepted]Resilynn's Skrell Application
Resilynn replied to Resilynn's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
His parents are mostly labor workers, basically running the equivalent of a gas station in the middle of nowhere. He does not come from a scientific background. NT is a great opportunity: a human company (yay) that will hire Skrell, AND they have a position for journalists. Most likely, they are the best human employer he has access to, coming from one of those rare and under appreciated laboring families. -
[Accepted] kyres1's IPC application

Good, responsible roleplayer. Makes the station a better place to be, even when his characters are assholes. +1 -
BYOND Key: Resilynn Character Names: Ellie Shoshanna, Fernando Gonzales, Rose Jennson Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Skrell blue Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wasn't interested in playing this race until I had my idea for this character. I am, however, interested in Skrell lore and have been reading it for a couple of months. I am interested in challenging myself to RP an alien species (I already have an awful lot of fun with IPCs). Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell are not human. There is no reason why their mannerisms and social habits should resemble humans. I know that generally, Skrell come across as aloof and unsocial (which is, of course, not true of their actual nature, it is a gap in communication). They seem calmer, more rational, slower to react, and inquisitive. Character Name: Quilp'vlomn Nblek Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Quilp'vlomn was born in 2413, the same year that the Skrell and Humanity first encountered one another. The son of two civil Engineers tasked with maintaining a small waystation, Quilp'vlomn was born in the Traverse. His family are followers of the Qeblak faith, and Quilp'vlomn has followed suit. Human radio first started reaching Quilp'vlomn's home on the frontier when he was a child, and he has come to believe that the location and time of his birth is no coincidence, that it is his fate, destined by the stars, to help foster communication between the Skrell and Humanity. For this reason, he has spent much of his short life studying human communication, and has begun work as a journalist. He wishes to find a way to properly translate infotainment to humans, and hopes to work towards dismissing the idea that the Skrell are humorless and stoic. He has studied the range of human vocal and facial expression, though he has by no means mastered it. Still young, Quilp'Vlomn returns home frequently, as he is very close with his parents. He is perhaps a little too confident of his skills relating to and understanding human interaction, and he can come across as overly inquisitive and somewhat awkward. Like many Skrell, he has taken a liking to some facets of human culture and media. He likes Classical music, but his current favorite thing is Elvis (who you can hear on the radio these days, since his area of the Traverse is approximately 400 LY away from Earth). What do you like about this character? I've been trying to think up an excuse to make a journalist that isn't a meme for ages now, and I think Quilp'vlomn will allow me to do just that. I really enjoy trying to play the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between species. Moreover, I am excited to delve into the realm of Skrellian lore. I like that Quilp'vlomn is optimistic and perhaps a bit naïve, but truly well meaning and intelligent. I am also excited to play a character getting to know the station and its crew for the first time again. How would you rate your role-playing ability? These days, either an 8 or 9 out of 10. I've really improved as time has gone on, though I am still prone to having bad days. I think I have proven that I can handle my other whitelists, command and IPCs, responsibly. Lore is important to me, and I am always trying to work it into whatever I am doing with each character. I put character work far, far above 'winning' the game. Notes: Nothing I can think of to put here for now.

I agree.

+1. This should have been accepted about 5 minutes before it was even posted. McKinney has never failed to not only make RP interesting on a one on one basis, but also to expand the game through lore and mechanics in a way that really fleshes it out for everyone (I'm mostly referring to his work as RD here. As much as I love to RP with Andie, I LOVE what Carl does for science). I have no doubts that he'd excel at playing a nuanced, fun IPC character. Which I am totally bidding in the auction for.

[Accepted]Yonnimer's Head Of Staff Whitelist App

+1. Not much I can say that hasn't already been said. I like this tree. -
+1. I dream of Carl as RD. But seriously, normally I'm very against whitelisting anyone with less than 6 months on the server, but Carl is an exception. He's always pushing science in great little projects. His player has a firm understanding of RP and the world lore. He's the best candidate I can think of.

I agree with keeping it rare, but less rare.
-
Imagine trying to traitor with this system though. No thank you.
-
Man heads of staff should be kicked if it's more than like ten minutes tbh. Nothing is worse than being unable to set red alert or call an ert (without doing a bit of regulation breaking) because the RD has been staring at a wall for 40 minutes.

Character Complaint - Kent Oppenfelt
Resilynn replied to BurgerBB's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Yeah, he's garbage. Grabbed me just the other day, tried force feeding me. Also used help intent to scoot me along the floor during a serious conversation. -
((AHAHA! I do NOT work today. If I'm on and HoP this round, I'll do my best to make this happen))
-
I always assumed this was kind of part of the HoP's job. Like, the general welfare of the crew, that's an HoP thing. And they have the knowledge of the regulations without the implant. They aren't in charge of security, so they can't just order them to release you (not when an HoS is around, and they really shouldn't even when one is not), but they can advise you on regulation and hold security accountable to regulation, calling an IAA if there's been a breach. *shrug*

One also me please.

((Okidoki. I'm west coast kind of and work until 4 pm, so I will not be online until 6 your time. Best of luck though and I hope to see the tail end of things!!!))

I've run into cherish here and there. Never really got a chance to talk to them, but then Ellie doesn't think to talk to most IPCs beyond what she needs from them. You've always seemed like a decent player, though. I've never had any in or out of character issues with you, and I remember your name.

+ I definitely think we should have more casual wear available too. -
I know it's really not my place to comment on any of this, but just in case: I play Shoshanna, so I was involved in a lot of the action here. And by the time Halstere had that gun, he had been pretty involved in the whole thing. I'm usually the first to get annoyed by powergaming and valid hunting, but this felt pretty justified by then. I mean, he'd been attacked several times by that point. We'd seen several people, officers that he knew (being an HoS when working). Idunno, it felt justified by that point, which is why I ended up giving him very basic access: there were people running around maintence with swords openly declaring they wanted to kill him.

Ka’Viax’Kee Zo’ra and Ka’Viax’Kii Zo’ra, This sounds like an amazing idea! I'm very impressed by your knowledge and awareness of human culture. I think this should be an effective means of boosting morale for the crew. If you tell me a time and date, I will do my best to make sure the garden is tended to, and I will push through any redecoration needs we have. (Imagine, one really long table! This will be so much fun!) Please let me know when you are planning on doing this, and I'll do my best to support you. Thanks for your hard work! -Ellie Shoshanna, Head of Personnel, NSS Aurora

Not sure where you get that data from. The server tells me something else. magboots.jpg If you want to make an argument based on costs. Please make sure that your data is accurate before posting it. Going based on the mining vendor, which also vends credits. I assumed a 1-1 exchange rate, though, which I probably shouldn't have.

[Accepted] GreenLightbulb's IPC App

I'm +1ing this on the condition that we throw CRASA a welcome to hands party. But seriously, if any borg deserves to gain independence after its service, it's CRASA. CRASA is a well played, consistent character.
