I'm torn between the amount of time it has been from the ban, and the number and steadiness of additional notes you've received since. Due to the fact that none of these notes are related to the same issues brought up in the ban, I will be lifting it- however, do note that you may still face escalating punishment up to and including a permanent server ban if the behavior that's been noted since continues to be an issue.

I really don't see the point in creating specific car models and their contents. There's either not enough listed and there's barely any description of what's actually going on (such as in the post above. I still have no idea what's actually distinguishing between low class and high class cars besides they look bulkier) or there's too many and we're just looking at a laundry list of car models with minute differences (like real life), which is not interesting on a wiki page we're just skimming to get an idea of the status of personal transportation in our setting. It would be much easier to go with overall brands, describe their typical traits, styles, and primary uses (industrial/personal/luxury/sports/etc.), much like we do with, for example, different prosthetics brands, in my opinion. Heph makes industrial vehicles known for reliability, Necropolis makes weapons platforms, Bishop makes high-class glass-cannons (or, glass sports cars, in this case), and so on- or, y'know, make new brands, I dunno. Why the hell is Getmore making cars?

...Accepted? Locking and archiving.

Apologies for the delay. I'm fully willing to lift the ban given the amount of time it has been since it was applied and the relative lack of further issues at such a scale.

Hi, just posting to show I've seen this and will be replying shortly.

You've managed to accrue a number of notes for insufficient/low RP behavior and even a server ban for another rule violation literally within the last few hours, after you posted this appeal. While it is true you have not earned any more notes specifically for validhunting since this ban, I will not be accepting it until you can demonstrate you can follow the server's general rules on top of these previous issues. This appeal is denied, you may appeal again at the soonest in one month from this date, or August 29th, 2018.

One major thing you've failed to include is gas pumps. You would require one oriented both toward and away each connector port- which I don't even know if that is logistically functional on a single pipeline- in order to do anything beyond equalizing the pressure across the canister-pipeline-cell atmospheres.
-
Okay. That sucks, I guess. That's not an excuse to half-ass the design. Forcing the entire population of the server that plays as xenobiologist to trek to the crusher to dispose of remains (which in and of itself breaks numerous IC regulations and OOCly is entirely unreasonable) is not the solution to you.. being unwilling to finish your project in a reasonable manner.
-
This is inane. Literally no role on the station needs to directly access the trash compactor in order to dispose of items, and you've offered absolutely no explanation as to why you believe xenobiology should need to- just saying you "believe they need an excuse" for it, which isn't an argument or explanation. The chaplain has a crematorium- why would the research department, the theoretical main focus of the entire station, need to drag their garbage all the way to the compactor instead of getting their own as well? Even giving them a disposals unit leading to space, like virology, would make more sense than this. You could use this exact same reason to warrant issuing them a Firefighter APLU with close-combat shielding and a fire-extinguisher module; that'd be specifically designed for emergency slime outbreaks, right? The point isn't what the grenades are used for, the point is the value of the items you're placing here compared to the IC value and OOC rarity. There are 4 entire Cardox grenades on the map to my knowledge, what about xenobiology and the need for slime-containing tools (when there are many other alternatives to Cardox to take care of slime outbreaks) warrants issuing them these grenades in particular?

A few notes about the scrubbing system: Even if you opt to continue with the portable scrubber system, you've only given them one and no method of emptying it after it's been used to filter one room (except by dumping its contents into another cell, I suppose, which is beyond sub-optimal). If you add scrubber vents, they will only scrub CO2 at round start, and the xenobio would not be able to change that without an engineer, unless there's some sort of shenanigans that can be done in DreamMaker to make it start filtering these gases. Also, I'd like to point out again that there is no crematorium or other method of disposing of the slime corpses, as Trazz noted but was overlooked. Additionally, every single cell containing an independent APC seems ridiculously unneeded. What purpose is there to independently powering one light and some windoors? What warrants research being issued Cardox grenades? I understand that phoron is a possibility working with certain slime types, but we have established that Cardox is expensive enough that the majority of the grenades on the station are locked up in the vault, with the only additional one being in the CE's locker- not even atmospherics, who would be far more responsible for and more frequently involved in phoron incidents, has Cardox grenades. I don't see any reason to change this, either. Just remove them. Let atmos and engineering in general take care of phoron, and if research really wants, they can develop their own Cardox grenades.

Your ban will be lifted shortly. Please make your best effort to follow the rules and feel free to contact staff if you are ever unsure or have questions, in order to avoid any further incidents.

I'm sorry for the delay. Staff member in question has resigned so I'll handle this. Now, while the ban in itself may seem to be a minor issue. Punishments are given for the sum total of infractions committed across a period of time, while being considerate on the time gaps between the infractions. You have 7 entries, mostly warnings and bans over a course of a month. The rule violations tend to cover three core principles of the rules. Roleplaying character comfort and avoidance of pain. Sane and believable characters. Self Antagonistic actions I don't mind giving you a chance, but I need you to understand that if we do remove it, more of these incidents will result in a ban, quicker than before.

I'd like to begin by just saying I am sorry, because I very clearly dropped the ball and failed to appropriately follow up on this complaint- I just forgot about it. There's nothing I can really say to excuse that, but, it is an explanation of why this has happened. Now that that is explained, I'll continue to address your concerns. Regarding the presence of additional security members: As the warden, it is absolutely your responsibility to be aware of the officers and other members of your team and to ensure they are adequately informed and armed to handle ongoing situations, particularly in a situation lacking a Head of Staff. The simple reason that they "didn't speak" is not an excuse to completely ignore the presence of an additional security member, when they should have been brought to the armory and equipped. Regarding nonlethal versus lethal weapons and their distribution: If you were ordered only to distribute nonlethal weapons, this is fine, but the pointed issue that remains is that you had lethal weapons, and used them to respond to the situation in medical personally, while the rest of the security team did not even have them due to your lack of effort to coordinate with and organize an armed response to the hostile situation. Regarding responding to the emergency situation personally: This is a pretty clear failure to appropriately follow your duties as the warden: rather than personally responding to the situation with lethals, there were other officers that were present that could have and should have at the very least been informed of the situation before you took it into your own hands, and ensured that your other functions did not need to be immediately performed before you did so- which they did, as noted above. This is on top of the fact that it would have been very easily possible for you yourself to have been killed or downed in the fight you sought out, which would have then both given armory access to the attacker and removed it from the security department in general, when they still had not be adequately armed from it. Regarding when it would have been acceptable to respond personally: Essentially, when at least some attempt to rectify all of the above issues had been taken. If you had openly requested the available officers to report to the armory for weapons to respond to this situation, knowing about the presence of the additional officer due to adequately keeping up with the status of the security team, and had received a reasonable response detailing why they are unable to do so, or even no response at all, then it would have been reasonable for you to arm up yourself and respond personally, as at that point it would have become clear you were the only possible response to this emergency situation. This issues detailed above all outline facets of the situation that you did not attempt to confirm or rectify before moving to the situation yourself, and those are the reasons why you received the note. Regarding Novi's phrasing and the intent behind the note itself: It's very clear, throughout the exchange of PMs, that Novi did not want to give you a warning or ban for this issue. Be it because she personally felt the issue was too small to bother with that over, because she believed you had done those actions with good intent and had made an honest mistake in doing what you did, or whatever other reason she may have personally had, she openly chose to defer to a simple verbal warning had you agreed to following the instructions she put forward. Now, it is clear that you were not completely understanding of the issues that led to these instructions, and while it may have been possible for her to have explained these issues in more detail and with more reasoning, this does not change the actual result of the note or its contents, and so this note will not be removed. The issue of phrasing and explanation will be brought up with Novi so as to avoid another situation like this in the future, such as including examples of similar improper behavior and detailing what could have been done instead to rectify the rule-breaking behavior. With that I will consider the complaint closed, but it will remain open for a response for 24 hours. Bygonehero

Hi, please re-title your thread to be in line with the sub-forum rules. LordPwner

After reviewing the logs and evidence we have found the note to be justified. While in some cases a warden responding to an emergency can be justified, in this case there simply were not enough attempts to get all the officers to the scene. Not knowing there wasn't an officer is not an applicable excuse as you should've known from the arrivals announcement and the crew manifest. Additionally, holding back security's main lethal weapons (the shotguns are now LTLs unless purposefully rearmed, and carbines are very light-duty weapons that while lethal, are incredibly lacking compared to rifles- it is a notable downgrade) is not acceptable. Lastly, your attitude in the adminhelps is incredibly inappropriate and likely would have netted you a warning or even a ban from other staff members. You are free to disagree with staff rulings through complaints, but simply stating that "I will continue because I have done nothing wrong" is not an acceptable course of response to a staff decision. Considering all of this, the trial conducted themselves properly and applied the proper measures.

Give it the same sound effect as an activated grenade, and I can get behind it, but anything longer than that I can't abide. The entire point of a deadman's switch is to fuck the people that are trying to stop the person holding it- if you're nearby and get blown up by it, guess what- you were the target. That's what it's supposed to do. While I understand that a sudden explosion may be dissatisfying, it's absolutely not "without warning" or "random"- if it's gotten to that point, you've already practically asked for it, unless you're an unfortunate bystander. All that said, I'm still fine with at least as much of a sound effect as a grenade already does, given that's a far smaller explosive that still has a reasonable but not-quite-enough-to-always-avoid-it warning time with its sound effect. I'm under the impression that is about 1.5-2 seconds at the moment.

The real root of this issue is that the new Aurora map has terribly mapped solars, or, at least, insufficiently mapped solars. This was never an issue that ever would have been brought up on the Exodus. Why? Because solars could actually maintain the station. The supermatter/tesla/singulo wasn't a round-hinging requirement to be set up, the solars were a perfectly acceptable option. The existence of these alternative roles is not a problem that needs to be fixed. This is an incredibly roundabout and RP-stifling way of fixing the actual problem, which is that whoever designed the solars for this map either didn't understand the power needs they would need to be compensating for or purposefully made them insufficient. Either way, solars need to be buffed or expanded to be a reasonable option to power the station, we don't need to remove legitimate roles that already have numerous established characters based in them and have no actual reason to be removed. Also stop trying to move the fucking janitor to engineering.

There was a previous suggestion to add "energy clips" that I initially supported, but have since changed my mind. It was denied, as well. Simply put, energy weapons are generally more powerful, or at least more versatile, than ballistics due to their unique properties (hitscan, glass penetration) that would make the addition of energy clips an unquestionable and unreasonable buff to anyone with an energy weapon. The requirement of charging is the drawback to balance these advantages. Instead, I suggest the addition of another item to the uplink, an APC jack that when attached to an APC effectively makes it a makeshift charger. It accepts both cells and any typically charged items. It drastically changes the sprite of the APC as to be immediately obvious. It can be removed by simply right clicking the APC and hitting a "remove charger" option. Both attaching and removing it takes a small amount of time and makes a screwdriver sound. Perhaps it only charges at a 0.5 or 0.75 rate as a real charger for balance reasons, but frankly I think it's fine as standard for an antag item.

Return Helmets To Not Turning Hair Invisible
Doc replied to whiterabit's topic in Completed Projects
Alberyk It's not clear by your post, but it would be significantly more versatile to have a "tuck hair under headgear" verb to toggle this, if possible. Best of both worlds, certain hairstyles don't magically pop through helmets and aliens don't look ridiculous. -
Frankly, this doesn't seem like much of a "bandaid" fix in terms of changes. It's pretty much a complete rework of the succ'ing and genome point system (at least in the sense of horror form- being forced into it?..) That said, I can certainly see how it's a bandaid fix not in the terms of what it reworks, but, the amount of thought put into it. It is not necessarily as bad change as much as an.. unfulfilling one. The systems are changed in function, but not in heart. I would support this, except that I would much rather propose a larger-scale ground-up rework that addresses what I believe the problem of the game-mode to be: forcing the changeling to farm for genomes or essentially die (or play as a glorified tator). I have several ideas and have seen a number of discussions talking about such things.

I second all of the previous posts, and add that I find it ridiculous that this area intended for prisoners that are not HuT (unless you were suggesting even HuT prisoners could qualify to reduce their sentences) is surrounded by not just one, but two reinforced walls. The armory can have it's own reinforced walls. Solitary can have their own reinforced walls. Even the regular brig only has standard walls. The 2460 equivalent of a high-school computer lab does not need the same security level of the armory. Edit: Additionally, I would recommend either adding an APC for this room or downsizing it. Additionally additionally, it does not make sense to give each cubicle two tiles of space, but have the chair block access to the second tile of space. Move the chair and computer to the opposite side of the cubicle so that the extra space is directly accessible. And why does a prisoners room have carpeting? -1

IMO, replace the two displays between the command and main sitting area with windows. Move the displays to the two wall tiles in the middle, the one between the blast door entrance and the main sitting area, and the one on the right wall. As of now it seems like the cockpit would be very sequestered away, and while command should certainly be separated physically from the rest of the shuttle, I'm of the belief that they should not be as visually separated as they are now (specifically considering that the command airlocks between the main sitting area and the cockpit are NOT glass). I also concur that the weird "command waiting room" on the right side is.. weird. To be fair I can't come up with any way to use the space otherwise, though.

Buff temporary blinds, nerf most of the stun out of flashes.
Doc replied to Scheveningen's topic in Completed Projects
Essentially, this. You know what this will accomplish? Security will stop using flashes. I'm willing to place a rather large gentlewoman's bet that that is the sole result of this change going through, theoretically. Instead, you'll see a whole lot more of security immediately whipping out the baton and stunning someone over the smallest thing, because it's the next item in the scale of escalation that they know will work. Security works on a scale of escalation, sure, but god knows most reasonable officers won't purposefully start at "possibly or likely ineffective." This is essentially already proven in the existence of, but near zero use of, pepper-spray. It's generally unused because it falls under this "possibly or likely ineffective" category, based on a wide variety of circumstances, to which the flash is nearly always directly superior thanks to it's broader range of use and instant stun capabilities. This will just drop the flash into this same region, and it will only ever be used in niche situations, with the baton becoming the new security go-to.
