I would note that this could prove significantly pain in the ass unless audible emoting is also made a thing, given that right now if someone can't see you he's not even going to hear you cough unless you do it on the radio. EDIT:Might I suggest a 'soft' zone for those at the edge of vision? You can't tell who it is, but you can tell that here's a human there, probably make it a silhouette, so you can tell it's a Human/Lizard/Cat there but not who it is or what they're wearing. If this even goes through, that is.

So many cats on the manifest tfw everyone your chars know aren't on the manifest

Oh, well, forget I said anything then.

Uhm, would note that someone else wanted these sprites for their core as well, way back. http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=2401&p=24749&hilit=red+queen#p23672 Not sure how that sits but it's there.

It is what I get with a regular cane, really, the main focus is on the former part. Namely Usiki being a complete ass with his Guwan status because he can get away with it, flaunting it around as if it's something good that happened to him rather then the extremely serious punishment it's meant to be, in hindsight the people it's most likely to piss off would probably be other Guwan's, given that it's probably the worst thing that ever happened to them. So yes, main focus is on the carvings. EDIT:I probably should've included something along those lines in 'Why is your character carrying said item to work?' to keep more attention on the carvings, although how he customizes it isn't why he's bringing it along so I didn't feel it'd fit.

[Accepted] Unathi White list App
Fire and Glory replied to MrPedantic's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
The question I am most inclined to ask is how the fuck is he alive like holy shit Stretching my suspension of belief regarding luck past its limit aside, the Syndicate shit is a no, crew aren't to have experience with them, they aren't meant to go 'Whoa I've seen people equipped like this before it's the Syndicate!", they're not to know things past the point that the Syndicate is a terrorist organization who does Bad Things, generally. The question I am second-most inclined to ask is if you really need your character to be some sort of top-notch fighter who has fought all these fucking odds astronomically balanced against him and came out on top? I mean really, it raises a lot of red flags when the backstory is way fucking long and about more than half of it is how he's somehow fighting all these battles and is not dead. Experienced war veterans are fine but heroes who have fought so many unbalanced battles and not even lost a limb or shit? Please, no. -
BYOND Key:Fire and Glory Character name:Usiki Guwan Item name:Inscribed Silver-handled cane/Carved cane (The latter for if the former is too long.) Why is your character carrying said item to work?Usiki lost his arm in a particularly violent traffic accident, given his work on the NSS Exodus he decided that it was get a prosthetic arm or have his ability to do his job severely impeded, and with his Guwan status, his job is one of the few things he really has, so he elected for a prosthetic, unfortunately he's really bad at using it, for most (active) tasks it'll either overshoot, undershoot, or just twitch a bit, so he was advised to get a cane, the practice of planting the cane in the ground and swinging it for the next step would help him get more control over the arm, and if he is going to be actually using his arm and thus getting better at control, then best let the object that it's used on be something made of wood without too much value instead of something more delicate. Item function(s):It's a cane, it lets you club people, walk without a leg, look like a civilized gentleman, the works. Item description:This silver-handled cane has letters carved into the sides, one side says "A new and better life", to those who can read it, the other side repeats the phrase in Sinta'Unathi. Item appearance: Might be hard to see but both the held sprite and item sprite are brown, and there aren't any sprited carvings because it's too small. How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP?Usiki has a certain degree of audacity regarding how he treats his Guwan status, given that he can't really get the shit beaten out of him since he doesn't live on Moghes or Ouerea, Unathi crew can probably see the connection between his status (Guwan and CMO) and the writings on his cane and have their opinions altered accordingly, it'd help prompt the topic of what it exactly means, what a Guwan is, and why Usiki is a Guwan from non-Unathi crew, having a cane with more then a few details also shows a certain commitment to using one, thus helping prompt the topic of why he has a cane, especially since he walks fine without one, and opening up RP about his prosthetic. Additional comments:I took the liberty of moving the interaction question further down because it's awkward if you explain what you'll do with it before you even say what it is. And for those with foresight, I did do testing involving how the cane works against medical's white tiles as well as the grey station tiles until a decent result came up. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ylkswnz0kgideu/Usiki_Cane.dmi?dl=0

... Anyways Catstache aside I'm not a fan of the style because the hair and the like strays a bit too close to 'girl that looks like a cat' for my tastes but the drawing itself is pretty good.

I think this could end up being a bit off in the case of limbs, the legs are awfully low for someone to bite (and you can't actually claw legs, it's just standard-damage kicks for there and enhanced-damage claws for everything above-belt), and the arms aren't exactly decent targets to bite either. But I do like the concept behind it.

So talking on Odin is nice, yeah? You can take a breath, talk about anything you want about your entire round to your co-workers, you can also talk about whatever anyone plans to do now that their shift is over, nice things like that. Problem is, the amount of time we normally spend on Odin is 60 seconds/1 minute, and unless you and your partner type and respond fast then there's no way you're holding any decent conversation in that amount of time, especially if you actually take the time to get off the shuttle first. From here, I see two ways to go about extending the time spent on Odin. Option A:Shave a minute off the amount of time it takes the transfer/evac shuttle to return to Odin and extend the amount of time actually spent on Odin to 2 minutes, this can stem complaints who those who'd not want the end of the round extended while still giving us some more time on Odin. (And lets face it, you can barely focus on jackshit while riding in the shuttle so there's no way we're really missing out on anything there.)) Option B:Leave the shuttle alone and extend the amount of time on Odin to 3 minutes (or 2 if we have to), I personally like this option more because it gives us more time and makes things less wacky about just how fast the shuttle goes, although as mentioned earlier, people could potentially complain about things taking longer. Pls gib Odin RP

"Anywaysss...I need to deal with sssome thingsss, given the lapssse in quessstionsss, thiss iss a good moment to end." After a few seconds, the stream ends and the channel goes inactive. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Roughly two weeks later, the stream becomes active again, the same apartment comes into view, although the cat doesn't seem to be visible this time, Usiki is wearing a long sleeved shirt that goes to his wrists, along with gloves that mostly hang over the tips of his claws unless pulled back. "Greetingsss...for thossse of you who were wondering, the reassson I have been absssent from NSS Exodusss isss becaussse I am on medical leave, I sssuffered an accsident..." He pauses for a few seconds, and evidently decides not to elaborate. "I don't believe I ssshall be resssuming dutiesss asss Chief Medical Officsser for a while longer, I may ssstart coming aboard the ssstation again ssoon, however."

Suit coolers are supposed to be autolathe-made-able. You should be able to print one at ease, these in EVA storage are just for emergency use (I think). Baycode nuked the autolathe ones.

The bigass items like laser cannons still wouldn't fit in a backpack, but the big items like laser carbines would limit space to 7 slots if 7 were being carried, so in the end we're still carrying the same amount of weight.

Player complaint:JFK_Gore

I am pretty sure they don't, actually, not that I've been on the server that much of late. Not sure what's meant to happen now. -
I'd like this. Oftentimes I can't carry something like, say, a stamp, or a sheet of someone's medical records with speshul needs, because I'm carrying too much useful shit, this'd make things more realistic because obviously makes no sense at all, and tends to get highly irritating when I am carrying a lot of small items that suddenly obstruct me from carrying anything else. That's my two cents. Regarding pros and cons, a great pro is that the current system just makes no fucking sense from a realistic stand point, and from what I've noticed, most Roleplaying props (Paper, clipboards, stamps, lighters, etc) are almost exclusively small items, so this'd help us have more options in interactions without infringing on our ability to be effective. I suppose this could be exploited, carrying twenty grenades in a pack or something, but....we can already do that by shoving them in our boxes and things, in fact I often put minor things that I don't need to have but would prefer to keep around in my internals box, so yeah, I don't see much wrong with this. it'll also let me carry even more shit for my packrat tendencies during crisis

[Denied] Double Whitelist App. CMO + Tajara
Fire and Glory replied to Zakumei47's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I just want to say; That is NOT the lore page, or anywhere near the actual lore section, for that matter, it's Baycode's shitty blurb from our code transfer that we haven't fixed yet. https://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Tajara The actual lore page on the lore section of our wiki. Going off the backstory I heavily advise reading this as well. https://aurorastation.org/wiki/index.php?title=Background_summary -
Hum, welp. Anyways, yes, gold cores DON'T spawn passive mobs from what I've seen, ever, (goats are hostile mobs), while you may not have directly done actions to kill people, you are still responsible for the dangerous creatures killing people being present in the first place, and for all intents and purposes you may as well have picked up a toolbox and started hitting people.
-
While the shuttle may not have arrived (ruling out shuttle grief), the creatures from the gold core would indiscriminately murder everyone (and unless the shuttle had only recently been called, there would be a decent amount of people there.) and thus, break the rule about gank/killing without RP, I wasn't there and I haven't looked at this all that much so you may or may not have RP'd, I dunno, but generally busting the core to murder people in escape for no real goal is a no-no. We don't have a specific rule about setting off gold cores but the rules about murder are within that jurisdiction. As for the last questions, "Hey wanna join my blood cult" isn't really the sort of thing that a bunch of people are just signing up for, so you have to force them, that's just how Cult works, and getting someone converted quietly is a lot of work, going through all that effort only for someone to decide "no i dont wanna" through some preference giving them snowflake immunity to Nar'sie's call sort of shafts the guy who put effort into that yeah?
-
Probably because such would need to be canon. While I would like to see this in some form or other, even though it's not the sort of thing to happen, the primary issue is that something punched a big hole in the station from last shift, and unless we make the endless barrage of xenos and pirates canon, there's not really much explanation for it.

Is the R&D database ICly wiped after each shift?
Fire and Glory replied to vtipoman's topic in Lore Questions
Why not Copy and Paste the database, this is 2458. Everyone had done it every extended round and no one dared to question the logic. Maybe in the future our data storage capacity really sucks (or NT is just cheap) and only Odin can hold all the data. or no one just bothered to ever think that much about this general subject -
So I was looking at this... And I noticed that at the top of the image is a gateway, it was my understanding that the gateway was going to be phased out as a bay quirk? Were plans changed or did I simply not get it right the first time? Is the snow in the bar just a scenic view or...? Also why does the bartender have a banana peel? Is it possible for miners (and other EVA personnel) to change levels while trudging around the cavern? Will it be possible for elevators to malfunction in dangerous ways, or only just shut down? Can non-maint staff access the ladders should the elevator be busted? Going elsewhere, I notice the HoS has what looks like a drone in his chair, is that a plushie, pet, or some sort of mapping representative for something else? Some of this has probably been answered but I am an ass.

Remove the limit on how much you can eat (and the effects of doing so)
Fire and Glory replied to vtipoman's topic in Archive
Well yeah that's acceptable but 3 entire pizza's? Not so much. -
Well I've never seen you or your character before so I am going off the application alone and well... I've never been swayed all that much by the amount of content on this particular question but it's awfully sparse and it calls for a paragraph rather then a sentence.. What actually makes role-playing them different though? What of their culture and beliefs that sets them apart humans? Knowing they (along with all the other xeno races) are supposedly of lower priority then humans doesn't really show much and the only other thing you say on this is that they are "different". This tells us what he does in his job, not his actual background, you're generally expected to tell us of where he's from, how things were like when he was growing up, how he got his job at NT, etc. Now, I am not Jackboot, the Unathi loremeister (unless I am?), so of course this is all just my own opinion, but I do believe he'd echo a lot of my beliefs regarding this, so I'd say you should probably give it a lot of work. Also Eshiosh's clan-name is 'Language' with an h at the end so perhaps try again on that one.
