  1. It was deleted by my request. As a Trial Moderator he overstepped his bounds by making that post. I apologize for that. As stated, I have raised the matter for the Head Administrators to review. Please allow them a day or so to have a look over the thread and the information.
  2. Pop-quiz question in the mean time. Is ADHD0ug the only ckey you've been playing with as of recent? If not, please list out all of the ones you've been using.
  3. There exist roughly two possibilities: You lied about not using two computers, which would also lead us to you potentially having been banned from here before. BYOND fed our system conflicting data, and the ban you're running into is erroneous. For reasons explained in the initial post, I am inclined to believe the former, at least in part. As for what'll happen from here on out. That's up to the Administrators. While you and your friend cannot fully understand the tech speak, the administrators are familiar enough with the system to draw reasonable conclusions based on the information in there. So we'll see! I'll make sure to post it on Discord. For data, I'll discuss the matter with the Head Admins. Though it's as simple as him logging 2 unique values in 72 hours on our database, when a person using one computer would log only 1 unique value. Unless they do other tampering with it. And the latter of those 2 values (specifically, the latter) ended up matching a value logged by a user who is banned. Thus, Doug is now banned by proxy.
  4. And I have data to prove otherwise. Unless he tampered with files and data that a "computer noob", as you phrase it, wouldn't even know were tamperable, he had to have used at least two different computers (or VMs, though, again, unlikely according to your story). It is impossible to generate such data otherwise.
  5. Extremely simple language: Doug used two computers to play on our server within the last 72 hours. One of those computers is banned from our server. Thus, in accordance with our policy, he is banned until the original ban for Tamassran/Awakenedfear/Corgilover69/Mittensthefeared is lifted. Or until the admins deem the bans to be the result of a system's glitch/irrelevant enough to not bother theory testing. Though, as the system maintainer, I am now adamant that Doug is not giving us the full story.
  6. Okay, so here's le story. A few days ago, I think it was like. Wednesday? Catnip asks me to investigate a string of mirrors which concern the very pleasant individual known as Tamassran. Also known as Corgilover69 and probably Awakenedfear. To cut a long story short, they play, get stupid, do stupid shit, get banned. They were given two chances. Anyways, I investigated and then very specifically purged all CIDs in the bans involved, as it might have been a conflicting hash. Mittensthefeared trips a wire on the 16th (which shouldn't have happened after my purge if it was purely a CID hash conflicting! As your CID and that of Mittens' was not mentioned in the database once!). Then you trip the same wire a few hours later. Point one. The chances of 2 players actively playing at one time having the same CID are pretty fucking slim. While hash collisions are a thing, believing that that is the case is becoming harder and harder specially as we take point two into consideration. Point two being that your CID changed from one stable run to another overnight. Literally 22 hours before one connection you had identifier X, and then later on you had identifier Y, which tripped the alarm. This does not happen on its own like that. If that story was confusing, then that's because it indeed was! But the last point kinda points you out as someone who's been banned here and either forgot, or neglected to mention that. Anyways, I'll leave you and the admins to knaw this shit out. I'm just the code monkey here.
  7. Time to implement that PTSD mechanic I thought of one night and make it penalize shitty RP-ers. Y/Y?
  8. I'd suggest stop wanting to sound like a smartass. The second will not work because new_player mobs are unable to start votes, as per discussion. The first is circumvention of mechanics which will get you in trouble for.
  9. This got posted to #administrators by Itzal. So it'll be discussed. My nudging question would be. Disallow them from voting, or starting votes? Cause those two can have different effects, and that should be considered.
  10. Feedback form for data and metrics: https://goo.gl/forms/7bn3u2iCXibFS1ku2 (Go fill out, ya plebs.)
  11. Application denied after trial, due to the fact that the applicant did not have enough time to contribute.
  12. Application accepted after trial.
  13. Mirrors for the ban lifted. If mrpiggle's computer or account is detected as being used, then a new mirror will be applied. That is to say. You can't play from his computer, or IP, or account, or anything like that. Try to connect, let me know if it works or not.
  14. Door hacking: A mechatronic engineer or a roboticist should be able to manage that just fine. Because doors are, basically, really fucking dumb robots. As long as the roboticist/mechatronics engineer has training with higher power pneumatics I guess, or is dumb enough not to be afraid of them. Not construction, though. Because metalwork. Security machinery: I know what you're going to want out of this one. The answer is no, not without training specific to that piece of machinery. Powerunits: What Pyro said. SMES are a fuckmassive, "Nope", because superconductors. Solars: Depends on whether or not the guy has specific training for it and knows how to operate the specific equipment in question. Addendum: Operating machinery is hard. You will not see a university educated head of development walk two floors down to the production floor and start showing the machinists what's what. That really does not happen ever. The head of development will know the principles behind the machines, and perhaps the general gist of the work, but he will not have the actual training required to set up the machines properly. A roboticist would know NT mechs and robots and related doo-dads like the back of his hand. Provided he's good, anyways. General bits of engineering, such as doors, he might be able to figure out, due to the simple nature of them. But specific machinery, such as emitters, SMES, etcetera? Nope. All foreign. Same goes for engineers. Without training, all they'd be able to do on a borg is probably disconnect it from the power source and cut some wires.
  15. Well, to clarify. Mechatronic engineering, with my current course structure at my uni: - Mechanical engineering: Very thoroughly. From the underlying maths, theoretical mechanics and analysis; to power plants (the small kind) and so on. - Electronic engineering: Decent enough level, though the focus is on small scale. Basically, how to wire up microprocessors to inputs and outputs, and how all of the components involved are made. - Programming: Low level programming, roughly 1 course per semester. So good enough! - General design principles: not really applicable to SS13.
  16. Heyo, mechatronic engineering student here. Which is basically robotics, automation, so on. Robotics in general is a really odd field. You get a decent amount of knowledge from mechanical and electronic engineering, but you specialize in niche (small scale) applications of that knowledge. Also going to note that course structure varies widely from university to university, so I can only speak for what I'm being taught and what I'll have to go through. Electronics: Pretty much, as Pyro already said. Small scale electronics? Yup, can do. Soldering, wiring schemes, electrical schemes for robutts. But most of the education focuses on power systems that rarely exceed 25 volts and a mere handful of amps. Anything bigger is going to be an unknown. There's also a difference in components and approaches. I'm currently taking courses for computer construction, which has absoloutely nothing to do with the components you'd need in a large scale power setup. Nor are courses that would tell me about the latter in my future. Construction: Materials differ, for one. We avoid construction materials and construction approaches. Instead, we focus on so called mechanical engineering materials and their application. Stuff like construction grade steel and concrete are something we don't get a lot of knowledge in, so we wouldn't know how to apply or work them. There's also construction skills. I am getting taught how to weld, cast, and cut metal. However, that course exists to familiarize me with the common methods of industry, their upsides and downsides, and differences. I will probably not be able to make a sturdy construction for a construction job. Regarding the construction of mechs, a lot of it appears to be quite simple seam welding. Not requiring huge knowledge about reinforcing welds and so on. So, building walls, I'm very suspicious about. As that's a lot of welding, when compared to simple spot and seam welds on a mech/robutt. Piping: Similar to electronics. Hydraulics and hydraulic drives are definitely a thing we get taught. However, that knowledge is widely different from the knowledge required to manage a large scale pipe loop. Machinery you get taught will be different, approach will differ, so on. Engine: Nope. Beyond a general understanding of how shit might work, you would absoloutely not be able to set one up. Unless you have specific training for it. Fun fact, not even engineers could set one up without specific training. Qualification training exists to familiarize individuals with machinery. TComms: Depends on the person's specialization. If they said, "Fuck it," to programming courses, then probably not. But computer science and IT are pretty integral to our course structure. TL;DR: Yes and no. Scale differs. A lot. Simply because the actions carry the same name or similar notions does not mean the skills are immediately compatible. Robotics is small shit, surgery. Construction engineering is large stuff, building a house.
  17. Ban by Serveris6, who's now blissfully retired. Will ping admin type people to look at this.
  18. For the sake of clarification, real quick. This isn't only developer will based. They will still get assigned projects they don't personally agree with, if the project is deemed as befitting and worth carrying out. So no need to fear a developer dictatorship based on however our mood swings on that specific day.
  19. Application denied by the head of the specific team. Archiving.
  20. Directed Fowl to this.
  21. Considering the drop in forum activity correlates pretty much 1:1 with us starting to use the public discord. Yeh, the internet done did killed the TV.
  22. Can I post a bit of a more pungent point? Your thread went without reply for almost a week (5 days). And while the forums can be slow, specially during the winter, the dramahounds will still find shit if there is shit to be found, and then light it ablaze. None of that happened. There is no evidence of anyone having a burning passion to hate you. As such, I further want to reinforce my point of, Hunter, no one cares. QED. And I do not mean that from the perspective of, "Lol, it's Hunter, let's go and shit on his day/ignore his issues." Because myself, Ricky, FTraveller, Itzal, and probably a few more mods/mins who I do not know about have talked to you, reviewed the issues you have presented, and done what can be done. But the one thing we cannot do is make you feel not-persecuted when there's hardly enough evidence for you being persecuted in the first place. (And I actually say this with near full confidence, as I was one of the motherfuckers who's gone through a week and more worth of Discord logs in relation to this.) You need to understand that shit you say and do has consequences. You cannot simply ask for advice ad infinitum over the same topics, and expect people to be pleasant towards you as you flagrantly disregard or combat it with meek excuses. Best case scenario: they'll stop and ignore you. Worst case scenario: your failures will be pointed out to you and people will become irate. This is not an interaction we can stop until it exceeds a certain bounds, and yet you ask us to. You cannot keep bothering people to review and post feedback on your applications when you create them in rapid succession without amending any of the issues raised in the previous ones. Again, best case scenario is that people simply ignore you and you get 0 feedback. Worst case, once again, your failures will be pointed out to you and you'll be told that you're annoying them. And hey, even staff have a limit of durability. I've needed to explain the same basic concepts to you over the span of 2 years now, I think. And I am not even required to do this: it is my job to keep the peace, not play councilor and adviser. This applies to all of the other staff that you've talked to: beyond the duty-relevant reports you presented them to, a good few of them took the time out of their day to listen you out in full, and see if they can help. They did it because those motherfuckers are great people. But eventually, that line breaks and you'll be told that we cannot help you any further, because there legitimately is nothing else we can do. Regarding age. Very few people care about the actual numeric value of your age. As long as it's above like, 12 or some shit, because below that, it's questionable as fuck. But that's neither here nor now. People, however, do care about how you act and carry yourself. The above-mentioned can all be summarized as "immature conduct". And unfortunately, they would not be wrong in doing so. It is up to you to square yourself away and showcase to people that you can be better than that. As a further point of staff not giving a fuck about your age, we've reviewed and trialed staff applications that fit well within your age bracket. Some have passed, some have failed, but it has almost always been the result of the applicant's conduct and merit, not their age. Bottom line: No one cares about you until you annoy them to fuck. At which point, they will annoy you back. That's how human communication runs. If you want to fix this shit, keep your head down low, take advice as it is given, and try to follow through with it. If you encounter a legitimate issue, discuss it further. If you find yourself asking for the same advice again and again, stop, think about what you're doing wrong, and fix that. No one but you can actually solve these issues.
  23. We are working on proper directional lighting, yes. So theoretically possible. We'll see.
  24. Okay, those sprites look quite good actually. And I've seen you around on the server. Since I can't find you on Discord atm, I'm assuming you're passed out. Give me a shout on Discord when you're around, and we'll talk specifics. Skull132#1984 <-- Discord name + token.
