  1. I agree with this last part, hell Aurora is even known for being snowflaky when it comes to what antags can and can't do. It would be interesting to have a week where antags can go all out and see how it goes from there. I also think we should start pulling in the reigns on security, I try my best when I play inround as sec but it's hard to do when it feels like everyone that play sec officers have the hugest hard-on for validing everything. It irks me when sec are the first on location when atmos alerts are called, it should not be this way.
  2. I'm thinking a heavy powerdrain + expensive resource use + 5-10 minute timer. Anything can be changed of course. Also thinking it is unable to do bodies that are rotting.
  3. I would love this, it gives engineering something to do and it seems like a fun thing to have happen as long as it does not mess with atmosia or the SM engine.
  4. this seems easier to code and removes cloning at the same time, im for this aswell.
  5. I am against this unless you take species strength and weaknesses into account.
  6. This sounds awesome and I would love it more than bringing defibs here, more scientific stuff here makes more sense... problem is that this was sorta supposed to be my virgin coding product, based off code from a simmilar codebase. I am not that good at writing code but I can read it. I will not make sprites and the project will take way longer, but I can try.
  7. So as some of you know I'm thinking of coding and adding defibrillators, and with this I will of course not make then purely good as everything good needs a bad. Some things I've decided on so far is this: Max death time before defibs are useless; 5 minutes. I decided on this as cloning is still a thing(for now.) Brain damage after 2 minutes of not defibbing making them not come back like nothing happened. Damage threshold on 40 brute damage, unable to defib if above. I don't have anything else in mind at the current moment but i take suggestions as (hopefully) one day this will phaze out cloning as some people dislike it (like me.)
  8. The trouble with this will be the numerous situations of, "I was already setting up to blow the shuttle anyways, and now I can't because someone triggered a transfer vote right as I was doing my thing. :ree:" Like, say during autotater rounds. I don't think we should completely treat the transfer shuttle as some holy ground. And people that only decide to do anything when the round end don't get permission to start havoc just because. But assuming there's proper build up where they hold the shuttle from the crew and demand nobody boards but people board anyway in which they detonate their explosive, destroying the shuttle. I don't think this is an issue if the rules are adhered to. There is an issue if a crew transfer is held up for 10-20 minutes when people voted for the round to end. This is what I'm trying to differentiate it. A few examples to illustrate my point. I've been trying to steal from the crew to no success, so I'll ransom their ride home. If they refuse, they can't board or I'll blow it up. Allowed. A crew transfer was voted but we're having an emergency. I'm going to wait for 10 minutes longer by holding the shuttle. Not allowed. Code red forbids transfer shuttles and if it's an emergency, it should be code red. I'm a loyalist. I'm going to hold the voted crew transfer until I kill all hostiles. Not allowed. My gimmick isn't over. I'm going to hold the voted crew transfer so I can finish it up, removing access from everyone until I'm done. Not allowed. So to clear it up you are saying that VOTED shuttles are holy-ground, but EMERGENCY called shuttles are free-form?
  9. Perhaps it is an idea to simply make non-recent IPC whitelisters take the whitelist program again instead of making a third rule that states the exact same thing...
  10. If what you say here is true I feel like perhaps Command is lacking a lot of information on their Wiki, to me "They were just a 'give more firepower' button to me." shows that perhaps some of the Command staff are ignorant to the actual power behind everything they can do, what changing the alert levels do and the responsibilities every action and every important button press do. This brings me somewhat to the C-Borgs. I've only met a C-Borg once as an antag, to me it was an amusing interaction as the player behind it obviously forgot a lot about how an AI should act towards a Diona. The player had a decent standoff with me where a QM put himself in needless risk and got killed for it, but the borg managed to split me... then the borg decided to chase down and attempt to kill the Nymphs, nymphs that are no longer classified as a crewmember, hence no longer a threat to the station or it's crew. I of course am laid back as all hell and no longer care much for death as I haven't died since getting my Diona whitelist, making me not make a character complaint against the borg but I was certainly amused by its mentality. My point being: I think the problem stems from the players that play the C-Borgs, and Command being unaware of what their actions do, at least the gravity of their actions, be it pressing one single button. I am indifferent to the removal of Combat borgs, I feel there are positives to them and a bit more negatives, but they can stay and validhunt, combating them isn't the hardest thing currently but then need a nerf if not anything else. On the other hand recent revelations should show that Command needs more underlines on how much impact pressing the "Release the borgs" button, some training in what alerts to use would not go unwanted but that's a bit too much of a derail. That's my thoughts on this subject. -Sebbe
  11. I support whitelisting the role, but not removing it. Yes I've only seen one AI I actually enjoyed, be it a malf AI or a normal AI, but that is probably just because of most of my experiences are streamline and secluded. The only interaction I can remember that I enjoyed was a Paranoia round where the Malfie sold me out to keep its cover and later on mending our devide lategame by saving me and letting me into the engine room. Other than this my experiences have mostly been uneventfull, the minimum expected roleplay or simply malicious or unfun gameplay from them. But when everything comes down to it AI is here to stay, the role should not dissapear but with an introducion to whitelist a door opens to fill out more lore on artificial intelligence, AI specifically but I guess it mends down to the IPC loredev. There is positives and negatives to everything, if neither direction seems beneficial the best course of action might be no action at all. -Sebbe
  12. I support this change. Now do note that I do not play any other species than Diona if I can avoid it but what many players that do not know about when you split as a diona it is a long and time consuming process to become whole again unless you want to murder and eat station pets. Becoming split and reforming is not a minor inconvenience as you lose all your items, need to absorb your nymphs, eat food and then you can reform, naked and without an ID or any tools to get you back on your feet. In my opinion this is a good change, forCE IPC's to add on their debts if they wish for their complete body. Or allow us to buy the rights for an extreme amount of money so we can print them ourselves. Make the filthy IPCs punished for coming back alive. -Sebbe
  13. I do not think making Departures a freezone is a good idea, but make it more harsh and frowned upon to destroy it after a vote has been accepted. The vote as has been said represents a positive or negative feedback on your antag gimmick. If the vote goes through you should think about surrendering or something else that will quickly end your story and give the sense a closure on your gimmick. Even if this is not a pure surrender and more of a huge hole that allows the crew to swiftly take you down without much effort. Making places Safezones are very much not a good idea and can be abused SEVERELY, there is no positives to making places safezones.
  14. I understand your frustration to some extent but you must remember that I was not the only antag. Security got screwed and fucked pretty hard by whoever destroyed them and medical was busy dealing with dead and dying crew from the other Traitors, I believe even one of your miners were a Traitor, killing one other Miner and doing something I am unaware of. I, like you, feel the 7 day ban was a bit too much for a one time violation of Validhunting, A one day slap on the wrist I would be happy with as you didn't do anything that impacted the round or my roleplay as my gimmick had already peaked and the round was ending by the time our standoff took place. I feel in light of your misunderstanding of what "Validhunting" is we should update the wiki with an entry on what "Validhunting" is in the Glossary and Terminology entry. Know that I, the victim of this ban and more or less the reason you were banned am supporting you here. It might be because I only play Dionaea and have become numb to the fear of death and feel like there is more or less no punishment in dying except for when my actuall split nymphs die that make me so supportive, I'm sure if I played a regular human or any of the other races that demand a cloning or some other more permanent death ressurection mechanic I would be less supportive, but as it is now I feel a 7 day ban was a bit excessive for a misunderstanding and ignorance when it is somewhat our server at fault for your ignorance of the reason for your ban.
  15. BYOND Key: Sebbe9123 Staff BYOND Key: calion12 (I believe) Game ID: Dunno but warning was placed on: 2018-03-19 18:55:40 Reason for complaint: I was warned for something I simply did not do during this round, I joined in as an atmospherics technician and walked around engineering for a while, exploring and trying to memorize the layout of the atmos room before I promptly went to cryo and observed the rest of the round. I watched as the CE of the round destabilize the SM and in the end explode it, I was discussing with the other ghosts before I was notified of this warning and I opened an Ahelp where I believe the admin said he was going to deal with it. I'm just opening this right away so in case the admin/mod forgot it will be dealt with faster as the warning is still on my key. Have a good day. Evidence/logs/etc: Nothing else than the warning message. Additional remarks: https://gyazo.com/d31de34b5550329557b57c03d0aacfa7
  16. To further clarify, the WIP bio of the character in question is that of a former soldier/marine/etc working as a Quartermaster/Cargo Technician/Miner. I was working on making him an uncompromising jackass who demands results, sticks to the rules and views 'others' (nonhumans especially, but also potentially Merchants, the hyper-religious and anyone who deviates harshly from the norm) as possible threats to size up and hold at arms-length. He's part of my endeavour to form a series of coherent characters since playing the same amorphous blob of character with the same name is against server rules. I'd like to not that beside myself as a (fake) Captain, I can only remember the Dionaea CMO and a dead or unresponsive HoS on the manifest. The AI was subverted with a law that made me the captain no matter how you twisted and turned on it, the AI did a good job running with the law aswell and I made the law in such a way that it didn't hamper anything the AI was already doing or make the AI any more loyal to me than it would be to any other captain. It was simply a law that said " (my name) is the Captain, no law (talking about station laws, can be seen as AI laws aswell. I made it open for interpretation to make things interesting ) or regulation can say otherwise" or something close to this. This made it so the AI was open to do as they wished as long as they followed their normal laws and saw me (A diona) as the captain. I didn't really have any other plans other than this at the time, I was planning and thinking as I made my rounds and my presence felt by the crew, commenting on a filthy medbay and asking the engineering department to fix broken stuff as any normal captain would do. I decided too late on what I could do to further my gimmick and by the time, and someone reset the AI laws to nothing making it rouge at the same time as I was having the standoff with the borg. Remember that sometimes it's not about being right or wrong, sometimes it's best to lose even when you have no real reason to do so. I often surrender or fight half heartedly as an antag simply because it is easier and makes the round more fun for others, even if I really wished I could flood security with phoron or something else fun.
  17. PLEASE! I don't have an avatar because of this shit ;_;
  18. Greetings! I was the Traitor Dionaea Witness To A Star Born and I... somewhat agree to your ban. Yes this wasn't out of nowhere and we had been interacting ever since I announced becoming the Captain, but as stated above you were a simple crate pusher, there was no reason for you to attack me ESPECIALLY since I was armed and holding an energy pistol on Lethal in front of you while you had a switchblade on the other hand, You attacked me and it resulted in your death while I lived for a few moments before getting shot to split by the security borg that was present before you arrived and I was interacting with. From my point of view this was very much a valid attempt at killing me, You had no real reason to kill me as I never did anything wrong to the station and was actively asking to help out (Didn't have time to activate the nuke sadly) And you had no support to kill me other than the borg that was already interracting with me and on the verge of shooting me. I hope you didn't get a long ban and it is a simple day ban or so because the little we did interact was nice even if it was repetetive and uneventfull before our clash and your demise. Remember Dionaea are strong, fighting one will result in you taking a whole lot of damage if the Dionaea a traitor and fighting back, The Diona won't die and can come back as many times as it needs to kill you or it can simply wait out your short lifespan. Have a good day and I hope to see you back tomorrow! -Sebbe
  19. Didn't think much about it before right now but making it a trading hub would allow people, let's say in robotics, to choose what company they "represent" let's say hephestus (on a tablet will check name later) and roleplay off the lore. It also opens up a lot of opritunity to flesh out the lore for the various companies. And that's just robotics, I can imagine plenty of supply companies fighting to be on the frontier where they can sell in bulk with a high price because of the low number of rivaling companies present, security could get a new role with "contractors" that are temporary security personnel hired short term until a position opens up for them. There is a lot of ground here to build on, only minor things need to be changed with the current lore as has been mentioned earlier to make all this possible. The only real downside I can think of is that mining will have less area to work with if we need to expand the floors a bit.
  20. Feel like the mapping would need a big rehash though, move departments and create more shop friendly areas. I think most big companies would want a dock on the back of their shop (Thinking the robotic limb companies and maybe hydroponics) More conference rooms so several companies can keep conferences at the same time. A cafee mixed with the kitchen and the bar it's seperate thing, open areas for things and an open storefront for easier access. All above is of course just my wishes and not needed, movement of departments and such will need to happen in my opinion but other than that the map we have now can still work just as well as it works now.
  21. From the Wiki pages of the NSS Aurora 2 and the Background Summary respectively. The NSS Aurora is located in the boonies. Unless we move the entire station then there's no reason to why we would be a Trading Station. Now, it's canon that we are a supply station, and could have other NT ships pass by here, but I can't see why we would have Civilian ships pass by. To my understanding, we're the equivalent of an oil drilling platform outside Alaska. Could always be that we are an innovative trading station on the frontier hoping that with the rapid colonization of the universe (I don't know where our system is on a galactic map, should check probably) The companies that have a spot on the station are either rich and powerfull companies with the resources to "waste" on a potentially great shop on the frontier that can bring in credits with trade, or private small companies like cafees or small supply shops that are owned by small companies on nearby colonies. There is huge potential here but as said earlier tossing out a lot of the lore seems a bit mean to the writers but new lore can always be written.
  22. Played a whole lot with 'im and have enjoyed most if not all of our interactions. Huge +1 from me.
  23. Can't argue with that, case closed.
  24. Because the players can do things to make their Diona unique through plant life growing on their person. You're totally wrong there too. Diona are biological life too, even if they're an amalgamation of it through other nymphs, they're not all 100% carbon copies of each other. Unless something explicitly says otherwise in Diona lore that I missed. You are correct in that the wiki does not state whether or not nymphs look the same, it goes into detail about the organs and such instead. I will assume that as with all other plants on our planet a nymph will look different based on the habitat it grew in, if it had a lot of sunlight while blooming or next to none instead growing for millenia while it gathers light from the distant stars. If it had soil rich in nutrients making it form a stronger and more solid nymph or if the seeds attached themselves to rocks, depending on the gasses in the air to survive or simply the sun alone. There are many variables and I agree fully with you that they could be recognisable but at the current moment based on lore and mechanics they are identical outside of flavor text and names Feel free to dispute my points as they are my own opinion and up for debate ^^ -Sebbe
  25. True, still would see it funny if a Diona antag tried to play it off as someone else after taking off their ID, pretending to be someone else even though they are the only Diona on-station.
