Mix and match would be nice. It just adds variety to have different size glasses for different drinks. Down with people demanding entire 30u cups of whiskey!
-
Please, please, PLEASE can we remove the weird metamorphing glasses, and just use a selection of other glasses instead? Sure, it's a little bloaty, but the ability to serve cocktails in a cocktail glass, whiskey in a rocks glass, and shots in shot glasses would really make the server a little cleaner ICly.

Only mercs should have access to the AMR. Give it back the ability to gib limbs in one hit. Give it bonus damage to mechs.

Revert the removal of the Aut'akh subspecies.
IAmCrystalClear replied to Skyglazer's topic in Archive
I have no love for Aut’akh. They feel out of place and don’t fit into unathi lore and core morales. Despite this, the method of which they were handled recently was appalling and unacceptable. Regardless of the end goal, the fact we have completely removed some of the most enjoyable characters on the station with little (as far as I’m aware) prior warning and no alternative in place (even if one is planned) is downright pathetic. Imagine if the sub races of Tajara were removed under the guise that their attributes would be added into the primary races, that were not implemented at all. tl:dr; +1 -
There’s a whole bunch of books in there that are pure gold, especially ones from characters that are now gone. combing through the books would be fine. Maybe we could add a new, almost comedic shelf consisting of “outdated guides” somewhat like an old newspaper shelf

Allow Robotics to construct the NT Breacher
IAmCrystalClear replied to DronzTheWolf's topic in Archive
The suit itself was removed from EVA storage. It’s a shame since the suit itself wasn’t even particularly strong and allowed three officers to go EVA at once and it’s positioning allowed antagonists to access it with relative ease. -

New Armor: An Unsolvable Dilemma

It gives them more flavour, renews their descriptions, and (in some cases) lessens their lethality. Spiders are old and boring, we should sprice them up a bit!

@Scheveningen If not that chem, then would another, less potent one be needed? I chose it over alternatives due to its quick stun, but slow death.

I do, infact, play roboticist. I understand the pain of having no RnD done by scientists and being able to do nothing about it. I both love and despise the role. There is nothing to do. Nothing at all unless you want to build mechs. Building any mechs capable of combat is 9/10 done by powergamers, without authorisation and far out of the need of the situation. What's worse is when they then demand to drive the thing themselves. Moving RnD to Robotics empowers these powergamers. -1

The most entertaining part of zombies is how rare it is as a gamemode. Definitlely a no from me.

Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge

There's talk of this being OOCly punishable? -
BYOND key: IAmCrystalClear Character names: Alice Gough, Ihuru Azka. Also known for characters such as Aimee Tale, Baron, BUD, and Cecillia Star How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Roughly two years? Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Recently, I have been considering the mindset for the Head of Security role. I've played interim multiple times, and quite enjoyed it. I feel it would fit with the ongoing character arc of Alice Gough, who would take the role of a more beurocratic, passive Head of Security rather than a field agent. Why did you come to Aurora?: I heard of the Aurora through an old friend in passing. Several months later, after several almost decisions to join the server, my friend, AIMMO, joined it. I decided it was fate and have never once looked back. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. The Head of Security requirements would end with Alice having a few minor tweaks, such as her age and previous occupations, but would ultimately serve to improve the documented records she currently has. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I will admit that over the years I have had several serious administrative actions. However, I have also been actively working to improve myself, and managed 6 months with no tickets though that time has included a short hiatus (160 or so rounds played in 6 months?). I recently recieved a week ban for antag, in which I feel I had acted to quickly without proper infomation. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the act of developing a story with others. It is like a collaborative book, a work of art and source of enjoyment. It is an escapism from the real world, where we pretend to be people we wish we could, struggle and overcome vices we battle with ourselves, and attempt to shape our lives as well as the lives of others. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: OOCly, heads of staff are present to organise and facilitate roleplay on a station level. They seek to drive crew to interact with eachother, and host minor events and story for crew. They are also expected to provide an antagonistic force in some rounds, such as Rev, where a good head of security or captain would activetly work against the will of the general populace in order to enforce a Central Command decision. A good example would be the recent Rev round, where the HoS captured and capitulated other heads of staff in order to promote himself to Interim Captain and request backup to ensure the safe injection of combat drugs into crew under Central Command orders. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: Whitelisted players are expected to present themselves as a bastion for new players and old players alike, to shine as a sort of beacon of roleplay to aspire to. I will make great strides to not only uphold this value, but also to prevent any further tickets or bans from tarnishing my already battered reputation. I will attempt to show the community that bad players can change. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? I have not taken part in any of the Tajaran lore events, or any of the Warbling before that. I have sadly missed many deaths of major characters in the security department. However, the near-death experience of a well liked HoS, Vance Khan, severly impacted Gough. Khan helped Alice work on her confidence, and has given her the slow, steady ability to apply for a command position. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Initially, I plan to play Head of Security as Gough. I also previously considered HoP, though I feel a new character will have to emerge for this. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Alice Gough, Head of Security. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: As a student in Creative Writing, and a soon-to-be student of English, I like to rate myself within the high average boundries of roleplay. Feedback from other players seem to reciprocate this train of thought. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I understand this, and I am even willing to have my whitelist stripped of me with minimal infraction, considering my painful track records. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? I have read the HoS guide, and HoP guides. I have briefly scanned the others in the past. Extra notes:

Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
IAmCrystalClear replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
removing sec comms on green will totally remove my support for depsec. it's bad for mechanics. it's bad for RP. I like the idea of giving sec loyalty to their department head and staff first. That is the role of departmental sec. This is how I played the role. -
ripley but with just clamps, yeah

Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
IAmCrystalClear replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
As it stands. Depsec decentralises security, splitting them up, and then removes all communication between the split up officers, reducing cohesion and the impeding the ability to respond to any threat at all. Code-based comms forces security to rely on command. Very few lowpop rounds have command at all. -
Regarding the Departmental Security Test Merge
IAmCrystalClear replied to Skull132's topic in General Announcements
From my experience, departmental officers use security comms in the following situations: To ask for a warrant from a warden To inform the warden that someone has been captured and is enroute to the brig for processing To request a general officer back them up, as the suspect is too well armed for a single takedown To request a code raise due to other suspicious activity relating to antags Idle chat with their other officer RP pals Requesting an officer from another department to ask a member of their department to come over or prepare for inbound crew. (Such as asking for a medic or engineer) -

While tweaks to random events would be cool, isn't that what secret ultimately is? The objective goal is not to reduce the rate of antags spawning, but increase the non-antag interaction between crew on a whole. The issue with entire departments going SSD until an antag appears is an issue I see mostly localised to Aurora, as opposed to other RP servers I have played on that do not feature antags.
-
More of a discussion than a suggestion. I want to know what people think of increasing the extended gamemode probabilty in the secret rotation. I personally believe that secret extended is the worst gamemode because so few rounds are extended in secret that people are subconsiously conditioned to expect their round to be altered by antags and thus act far, far differently from rounds where it is voted extended. In security, for example, a lot of officers have a habit of ignoring minor crimes/afking at the desk etc while waiting for antags to arrive. I'm pretty sure medical suffers with similar desk-afking rounds. I also admit that I dislike how little RP goes on in security due to the expectation of antags. EDIT: I should clarify that by "increasing the probability" I personally mean to roughly 33-50% of rounds being extended.

I have some simple tweaks to provide more personality to the different types of spiders based on their appearance. Firstly, the brown spider. It is clearly modelled after a tarantula, and I feel its stats should represent that. I propose removing toxins from the spider and instead buff its health and strength. This will make it the tankiest spider, capable of the most sustained combat, but make it the, arguably, the weakest of the three. Next, the black spider. This seems most similar to spiders such as the black widow or false widow. I thereby propose we change the toxin and instead replace it with Potassium Chlorophoride, capable of paralysing its prey for an easy subdue in order to cocoon them. This removes its high lethality, but means that someone caught out by the spider is doomed to die or become incredibly scarred. Finally, I do believe the white spider can remain as it is. However, I would argue we change the toxin the spider to a Potassium Chlorophoride one, to again remove instant lethality, but increase the danger reguardless. Furthermore, I believe the descriptions of the spiders could be given extra fluff, or removing some in the case of the black, chitinous ones.
