[Accepted] Geeves' Head of Staff Application

+1 Would be nice to have whacky friend as CE -Drakuba Plazovic -
But this would make some rounds realy interesting, especialy that RNG element to it. I think decent antagonist will use the confusion to his advantage and blend in the chaos. Just beacuse you saw ninja, does not mean you are save from ling, or that surgeon is vampire. Beside, this does not mean we will play this mode only. Its just, regular modes have been there for a while, and his could spice the game alot

Agree, maybe limited number of hacked drones at the same time depending of the number of players in round? Like 2 or 3 drones on 30 players. Other players will go to waiting line
-
exactly, you can see everything around you anyway, why couldnt you hear it as well?
-
+1 Its annoying to ghost to hear others and return everytime someone checks your body to show you are ready to cloning
-
This is still not being worked on? Shame
-
+1 This would give AI better fighting chance since it is stationary and one engi with emmiter can blast it to dust. Or CE. Or pretty much any officer with weapon and suit. Borgs can be pacified relatively easily, so does drone fabrication can be easily disabled

+1 I cant belive this is not being implemented long time ago. Not a single dissaproval and all positive feedback. It sounds awesome as well. #LongLiveTrueSecret

+1 Sounds fun. Waiting like 4 or so sec for doors to open is acceptable once or twice, but gets annoying quickly so you will call someone to fix it asap. Realism wise, it makes no sence to have lightbulbs in year 2460 yet we still have them for gameplay purposes. Make the acting up doors hapen

+1 Why it is not implementrd already? This would be nice alternative to attacking when cornered

Please dont take jobs from engineers. -1

Shouldnt they be printable? Autoloathe or protoloathe if you will. I liked the idea about ss13 that you can build second station ingame, which is not possible on aurora as i recall because plenty of things cant be obtained. It makes me sad

I like this idea, but i think we should drop the role of phone operator, i know i wont play as one, sounds boring as hell. Instead, make it that you message whole department if you request repair, medical, report crime ...and you can use PDA to contact individuals. I usualy ignore green text anyway like 90% of time since my department is more interesting to listen anyway.Hiding identity sounds complicated like someone sayed before, you will overwhelm chat with too much info. We are in the 25th century, radios can tell you who calls you, but it could be a maschine in tcoms that does it, any by destroying it noone will know who sayed what. Maschine would be called like Radio Identifier or something.Comm consoles are those things you can link your PDA to? Never used it before, this would give them some meaning to theyrs now meaningless existence. I like this idea, especialy instead of multuple discussions betwen few individuals, this will make them to meet and talk without bothering rest of the station with things that dont concern them. Green could be announcement channel that everyone have acess to, but rules will be applyed that you cant announce you won lottery or that you got drunk off the shift or you like sunflower more than tulips, but announcement like kitchen/bar is open, engineering is vented or you want to meet with John Rambo and John MClaine and talk about exploding buildings would be ok since the conversation will be held face to face. +1

Staff Decision: Multiple jobs - Job hopping - Realism vs Gameplay
drakuba replied to Faris's topic in Staff Vault
I think its good the way it is now. Antags ar non canon, everything else is canon. Mild job hoping is ok. For example, my char started as assistant, got to try barman and chef. Then had been janitor for about 15 rounds before "NT validated his engineering degree" and he started being engineer. He still remember his buddy whom showed him the station from times he worked as janitor, even now as maintenance tech he still remembers that, as well as all fruends he made from his apprentice days. As it should be. Treating others as strangers every round feels kinda weird -
Ill start with example. I died early and got spaced around 10-15 min mark, and acepted my fate of having a boring game. Decided to spawn as maintenance drone and proceded to repair/improve station. Around 30 min mark, i was captured by antag to do his biding and boy, round was fun again! Open this, scout that room, build baricades, hide around people so i wont look suspicious, take this plasma cutter and protect me. I was give na chance to actualy affect a round IC instaed of just fixing stuff or violating RP rules as maint-drone. And i didnt mind being someones slave one bit because i was right in the middle of fun. So there is my idea: Give dead players a chance to get back into game as some other entity and actively affect it. Because after 2 hours, there still might be some thing to do, but plenty of people died and that makes it boring for them. Modify gamemodes, so cultists will have benefits for bringing souls of players into constructs, so they will have something to do in game. Wizards to spawn skeleons, or summon guardian spirit/s that will do things. Vampires will spawn ghouls... Spawn as monsters, blob for example that will spawn (player-controled) slimes. Some drone that will fly/run around his chosen player(mercenary, sec-officer,captain,...) and protect him and listen to his orders. Some human creation/"Frankensteins monster"/grown human, taking soul of ghost, putting him back in game(no memories rule, some imprindet abilities, depending of what is needed and players settings,...) Anything that will give dead player a chance to affect and be part of fun again. It hapens to me alot lately, antag is caught/killed, but there is plenty of things to do, like getting station back on track. Autotraitor on 3 hours mark. Blob, sipder infestation... But with many dead players, game is not fun for them anymore so its understandable they want round to end. This would actualy make EXTENDED worthy gamemode. This is mostly for making game more fun, but im sure someone will come with roleplay stuff as well. What do you think?

yeah, i like this idea. I recently build flamethrower to get rid of wines, but it was useless! Even when it suposed to be vulnerable to fire. Whiuch suck because i was the only engineer, and killing it with welder was so annoying
-
Thanks for tips, ill check the discord. ANd playing as drone helped alot, but i didnt expected to be captured by a traitor and have to serve as a minion learned basic constructions thou. Do you have any other tips for new player?

tldr: New player here, would like to learn how to be engineer Hi, im a new player (i started playing on 27. 3. 2018 so green as you can get) and i would like to learn engineering. I started playing as an assistant, got to try a bartender and cook, now i spend most of my games as a janitor because i now what to do. But it feels kinda boring... i usualy get to read how station is descending into a shit, but i never feel like it because im either at my worklpace and/or RP reasons dont allow me to go toward danger (read fun areas where something is happening). So i tried engineering aprentice job, but found out that i dont know shit.I couldnt even put floor back together. I was told by head engineer one game to follow "this guy" and learn, but because station went to hell pretty fast, he had no time or didnt feel like it, to talk what hes doing or how he do it. I even looked for guides, but they are either too general, i didnt understand almost anything in them(since i dont know the game) or are nonexistant in the first place. I felt so useless, it discouraged me from trying it for the third time. So i would like to ask, how did you guys learned all those things? Did you just goofed around and eventualy learned it? Did you had someone to teach you? I was browsing this forum for about 3 hours, but i couldnt find a guide for a starting engineer. I was also thinking on medic or security, but as a CNC machinist-turner in real life, i have closer to engineering. And i would like to know even basics, how to click on what with what, which buttos etc. i found some "do this then this, lastly this and your done" guides, but again, no idea what that meant. ANd because i want to RP as well, it does not feel right to ignore everything, join as engineer and frolick around, mess with things while others try to gave a fun game. You might say to go to another server and learm basics there, but i dont want to. Not only servers are different mechanic-wise. For example, i couldnt find how to put mop into janicart in aurora, but on paradise station it was eazy. Not only that, people are jerks there and RP is mostly nonexistent (reason why i decided to play SS13 is roleplay). I got beated up by a doctor and got my mop stolen even thou i put wet flor sings down, ppl talked about bulshit that had nothing to do with game and first reply to my question i got was after about 20 minutes on server when i visitted head department and got a job as a janitor, everyone else ignored me. On Aurora, i got all my question answered, i got pointed a direction where to go, got a station tour and got to do some roleplay with Mya whom teached me on how to be a bartender. PS: there is plenty of things i dont understand, but lets leave that for another time, for example if someone will take me under his wings
