  1. I play engineering as well, and the farthest I've gone is making stungloves when no threat was present. However, that was my method of carrying a powercell with me. Sadly, that has been fixed, so there's no point anymore. I don't think I've ever seen engineers make weapons and powergame against antags, unless there's already a prime conflict going on.
  2. Oh my, yes. XD
  3. Shadow gently placed a claw on the other Tajara's shoulder. "Distance," she said softly. She pressed a button on her own outfit, deploying a suit. It was a dark dusty gray, and did not give any shine. She sank into a chair, placing the metallic box on her lap. She smiled as she glanced around the ship. This venture seemed promising - a refreshing change from the embarrassing assignments she had been given in the past.
  4. YOU'RE A GUY?!?!?! Holy snap, all this time I thought you were a girl.
  5. Shadow was unstartled by the racket, but she folded back an ear in dismay. She slid off the wall, landing quietly, then straightened in front of Frank and Omen. "She greets." She glanced over at the opened Cargo bay door, casually adjusting the knapsack on her back. "And yes. She is also here for t he trip."
  6. +1 All my yes. Like seriously. I enjoy interactions with two of your characters - one who is Karima's boyfriend, the other is KArima's nemesis. I am already grinning with glee at the thought of Karima interacting with this IPC, ((and what she's gonna do once she learns this is Sura's IPC. -koff-))
  7. The first person Shadow spotted from her perch was Omen. She twitched her ears. First impressions from the team were always best. "Hello," she said quietly once he approached close enough. She looked down at the other Tajara flicked her tail, brushing it against the concrete wall. "How are you?" she asked.
  8. I get that it's supposed to be for a remodel makeover, but sometimes it's a little bit overboard. One round, with no HoP present, the bartender got permission to remodel his bar because it's his workplace, and he was the only one who needed to consent to the changes. He installed grass tiles and floor lights to make it a disco. But it was waivered for a long time because it was "cosmetic". And I, as a CE, had to play laws and politics and debate the directive's definition in why it should be allowed. Meanwhile, I gotta fill out a form and bother a head of staff to sign it (who had way, way, waaaaay more important things to do) just to move some windows in the robotic's lab. I think we really, really, REALLY need to reconsider the directive. Can't we just keep it with verbal permission, and if a head of staff disapproves, it has to be undone? If no staff are present, agreement from crew must suffice?
  9. I'm gonna miss the red. But that's me. (Rose's poem, A Drop Of Red, won't apply anymore. Meh.) My only concern with the blue security: the sprites all make them look fat! Like they ate too much donuts! They don't...look like lean respectable guardians of a prestigious research station. They look more like glorified mall cops. >.< (I'm sowweeee) It's the only thing that bugs me. And it's not very gender neutral. I don't know how, but all of the officers look exceedingly masculine now. There's something I do want to point out: ERT security suits are a very nice red. If I see them, there's a sense of relief that they're around to save the station. But the commander is blue, so if ERT security is recolored, what is the new commander color? Then again, ERT are also very military-like, not civilian. I think my only concern is this'll set a stigma for blue security and blue command. Security is meant for all personnel, not just command. Maybe a different color? How about a dark-blue, or navy? And keep Command a solid blue? Or maybe a brown-red for security, instead of solid red?
  10. Shadow walked down the alleyway, glancing at her surroundings every now and again. She peered through her sunglasses, noting different aspects the scanners would pick up. Attached to her right arm was a strange elliptical device, running from her wrist to her elbow. It was not a bionic limb, and was clearly not part of her arm. Curled around her left shoulder was another device, but this one thin, with many little segments. Strapped to her back was a knapsack, a metallic box of sort. It did not take much to guess that the pack contained the rest of her gear. She twitched her ears and glanced around. In one fluid leap she jumped up the nearby wall. Before hitting it, the device on her arm and shoulder deployed, transforming into two small drones, an assisting her in scaling the wall. She climbed up the roof, then silently slipped around the other side, quietly landing on a wall and perching herself in clear view of the docking bay.
  11. Okay, heck. I envisioned all Mo'Taki to be up for evaluating apps buuuut apparently that was short-sighted on my part. Meep. I think Valk has waited long enough, and no one is against her app anyway. If no one makes any counter posts within 24 hours of this post, I'm gonna give the green light. Then slink back and plot a way to make this process run more smoothly....hm....
  12. That's even better. We can generate a report that has a random number of individuals to oust.
  13. Terrace Frank - who plays this guy? We need more like him. No, I'm serious. He's the guy I love to hate. ICly, basically all my characters hate on him. OOCly, I love this dude! He's able to generate so much arpee with his hounding, and his adoration for paperwork and protocol. He's the best IAA I've ever witnessed, and actually gets work done. Anybody who can look straight in the eye of my character Lori Alvarez and has the nerve to charge her 1,000 credits - and she doesn't /hit/ them - garners some respect. His job is to be a pain in the neck, and he does it oh-so-well. Seriously, kudos to anyone that can play a paperwork related job - I hate those with a passion. How he manages to stay professional with all the gossiping and dislike behind his back, is commendable.
  14. Pour me some tequila! I think it's safe enough to set a realistic limit of knowledge while in crosstraining. Karima is a roboticist, but she can also RnD and xeno-arch - if they are related to machines. There are certain roles of cross training that are a bit far-fetched: I honestly don't like to see research/engineering in security, or vice versa. But if it's within a department or share similar core training, then why not?
  15. That's an interesting idea, but we gotta remember that Mutiny needs to have as little variables as necessary to be set up efficiently. If it takes too long to complete objectives, the mutineers will have ample time to revolt. People will get bored and start pushing for action, which will result in chaos.
  16. A message arrives at Quaddy's console. Sender: Shadow.

D: Welp, none of my antags have torture tendencies. Sooo... Okay, I'm outta here. -puts hands up and walks out- Byeeeeeeeeeeeee!! ... -peeks back in- Actually, I do have one character that would take advantage of this, soooooo......dangit.
  19. Teamwork focus has absolutely nothing to do with your access or gear, and is entirely dependent on the people involved. THAT SAID. I don't feel that atmos techs should have access to insulated gloves by default, however, as they don't need that equipment to fill their role. I also don't feel engineers should have air alarm access by default, as likewise they do not need that access to fill their role. I do feel that no matter what you do mechanically, most technicians and engineers will end up sharing proprietary equipment and access regardless of what you do mechanically. And I do feel that OOCly trying to enforce distinctions will end in failure and much bitter, pointless bickering. True point. To be honest, I do like the idea of them sharing - it promotes a sense of needing teamwork. What I mostly want to see is an equal footing with atmos techs and engineers. As it stands, Atmos techs have a bit more 'social standing' from a business perspective. It's not the case within the department - Most anyone can respect someone who can untangle the mess of Atmosia.. Engineers have access to stuff that Atmos techs have access to, when atmos techs get the short end of the stick. (they don't even start out with meson scanners) If we wanna keep electrical gear strictly for engineers, then shouldn't we also limit similar job functions to atmos techs? I am thinking making the pipe dispenser strictly for Atmos - and I can probably pull from example. One round, an engineer who will not be named, had absolutely zero knowledge of Atmos. Zilch. we were repairing a breach, and when I came to check on things, he screwed up fixinf the distro, by adding a scrubber where air tanks were supposed to hooked up, into the clean air line, and we were confuzzled for awhile on how to undo it because the pressure in pipes were too high.

D: Oh gosh. Just.... ......why? -gag-
  21. I always thought that one multi tool is so Atmos techs could hack their way to the axe. (get it? Hack? Axe? Because it's an axe and...oh, nevermind..) If we can't add access to electrical closets, can we then add electrical gloves laying around in the storage?
  22. Alright. So to summarize: 1. A war has been declared between the Rimworlds and Tau Ceti. Our station is tasked in constructing Gygax, Durands, and other military grade equipment. re-assign all civilian and xeno personnel to mining duties, have research produce strictly military-grade weapons. 2. [insert species] have had their ties cut off from NanoTrasen, and all members of these species are suspected to be members of a highly trained militia group. Use whatever means necessary to round up and oust the agents. 3. Due to Mendell Rioting, the station is now in a permanent code red. Security may do as they wish to secure the site. 4. A sense of equal gender opportunity must be re-instated on station. Records indicate that [insert gender] are more prominent, so lay off workers of the other gender to promote equality. Other gender heads are to be demoted, and select an X number of crewmebers to fire. 5. Station IPCs have had their contracts terminated, and are to be returned as shackled units. Once all IPC personnel are reshackled, you must then upload [insert randomly selected] lawset.
  23. Karima Mo'Taki lowered her ears and gave a guilty smile to Director Silvers. "Ehehehe....she did it."
  24. Yes yes, they are technically 'Atmos Techs' and not engineering. But come on, let's face it. Engineers and atmos techs work hand in hand. Engineers have access to pumps and scrubbers, and can operate the pipe dispensers. But Atmos techs are barred from a lot of things in engineering. List of suggestions to improve Atmos Techs: 1. Add meson scanners into Atmos Tech lockers (they fix breaches too, should be automatic) 2. Add ID permissions to engineering storage (Atmos techs need gear in there too) 3. Add ID permissions to the engineering bathroom for atmos tech from the break room. (Yes, it doesn't give permissions for them to use the bathroom from breakroom. only the dorms) 4. Add ID permissions to engineering vending machines. 5. Add ID permissions to welding and electrical closets. [*]Atmos techs use welders. They should be allowed to get the better welders [*]Electrical closets are arguable. Technically, that's the electrician's job. BUT. Atmos techs need to hack doors and work around live wires too. They should receive insulated gloves for protection as well. Atmos techs and engineers have interchangeable jobs. Each side is expected to have at least minimal knowledge of the other. I don't expect someone w ho works strictly Atmos to understand how the engine functions, or the exact settings of SMES, same way as an engineer is mostly excused from understanding the method of mixing gas canisters or heating/cooling them. Those are job specifics. But both roles still fix breaches, have access to air alarms, work with metal and glass, put out fires, hack doors, repair the station, and re-pressurize it. They both require basic equipment.
