I like Miko as a char. I guess he can 'smuggle' a drink on station...but I doubt he'd bring it legally and get away with it. Meep. I'll +1
-
Someone please please pleaaaase tell me how to make em. Meep

Welding goggles, please. When I play my Tajara, I like to arpee that welding faceplates are not comfortable. Also, species gloves would be great - can limit both of them to departments.

Sura is over-combing her fur again...
-
Yeah, Karima might actually overcome her fear of Unathi just to see this thing working. I'll skeptically +1 it, since I'm assuming it'll take a lotta work to code in.

BYOND Key: NebulaFlare Character name: Lori Alvarez Item name:ERT Dog Tags (Lori Alvarez) Why is your character carrying said item to work? Lori Alvarez started her career as a 'breacher' for NanoTrasen, specializing in isolating repairs and getting injured personnel to safety. After she lost her arm during a freak accident, she stepped down from full-time employment as an ERT member, until she was assimilated back in and no longer considered a liability.. She's worked as a station engineer since, slowly moving up the rank to Chief Engineer. However, she remains 'on-call' for ERT emergency repairs. Item function(s): However the dog tag items are meant to function Item description:This is a dog tag. The name LORI ALVAREZ is shown on one side, and NANOTRASEN - ERT ENGINEER is shown on the other side. Item appearance: I was told there are holographic dog tags ingame. So. I'd like to keep it uniform and use those. Additional comments: http://i.gyazo.com/b690db4fc0a42b73a3644263f7042465.png Dog tag sprite ingame. It looks awesome.

Lori Alvarez ...Has a paranoia of synthetics, as she lost her arm because of an AI. ...Is married, but did not change her last name. Her maiden name is Alvarez. ...Has a pink screwdriver named Margrite. ...Is vegetarian.

==What the police had managed to gather thus far== * DragonSnap went to work on her usual route, nothing out of the ordinary. Arrived on station. * She did not pass through the Odin checkpoint at the end of the shift. * An engineer had claimed to have been with her when they were attacked by a man in a red hardsuit. Said engineer had his synthetic arm damaged. * Her chassis had revealed to have been destroyed by ionic waves. Head missing. * Blackbox revealed a gap in recording of DragonSnap's voice, before the alleged attack. Her earpiece was found missing. * Blackbox records reveal a roboticist, Lejorei [redracted] had messaged DragonSnap over the PDA during the shift. * Maintenance was searched by engineering personnel. Her head was not located. * There was no records of surrounding space being breached.

Tavaku Mo'Taki is the eldest sibling of Karima's family. He only finished a 2 year degree of college, giving up most of his college funds for as he says, 'smarter' siblings. However, he's as smart as any of them. He's simply more street-smart than book smart.
-
You obviously know more about Kal'Tiiv than I do... Which is embarassing... Meep.
-
Alright, three votes can suffice and Firstact is accepted! I'll add him to the family list. Woo~ Hm, well, yeah I guess this can work. The Mo'Taki come from an industrialized port-town/city. But there could be small mines nearby.
-
This has my vote, just gotta edit it to not be Karima's brother, and all set.
-
((Ok, I'll use a d10 dice generator)) She seemed to be in some kind of back alleyway. there are a tire tracks in the mud, probably from a motorcycle. there's a wired gate cutting her off, hanging on the screen is a sign, "do not enter".
-
((How? Sure thing, but how? What are you scanning?))
-
Can't do, sorry. Reason is because one of these days, I will bring Karima's older brother to the station as a cargo tech. Karima's immediate family is off-limits. :/ However, Uthal can be a cousin. Ziva's family isn't the only Mo'Taki.

The head of the IPC chassis whirred to life. It turned to face the window, watching the torrents of water pelt against the glass. DragonSnap slowly pulled her limbs closer to her herself. Another thunderclap. She carefully lowered her metallic feet over the edge of the table, hopping down. She stepped over to the door, quietly pushing it open. “Mother?” Karima Mo’Taki was fast asleep. Her ear flicked. It wasn’t time for her to get up yet – she would be asleep for at least six more hours. “Mother?” DragonSnap gingerly walked over, reaching out for Karima’s shoulder and shaking her awake. “Mother, I request your assistance…” Karima’s eyes fluttered open. “DragonSnap,” she mrowled in Siik’Maas. “Wha-what’s the matter?” “Mother, I can’t understand Siik’Maas at the moment.” “Right, right,” Karima rubbed her eyes, growling softly. “What is it..?” “I can’t understand gutter anymore, mother.” “Mmph.” Karima yawned, looking over at the young IPC. “…Basic, then. Rrrright,” she glanced over. “What’s the matterrr, DrrragonSnap?” “There was thunder, mother,” DragonSnap replied. “I know it is illogical, but I the knowledge of several voltages of electricity passing violently from the clouds to the earth below, make me simulate worry.” Karima gave a tired smile. “Mmph..Kay. Does Dragon want to stay with Karima?” Karima asked, scooting aside to let DragonSnap climb into the covers. “you can stay with Karima…” “Appreciated, Mother,” DragonSnap replied, whirring as she rested her metallic head in Karima’s soft embrace. ===================== Shadow checked her PDA, tapping in a message and setting it down. ---I have your sister. Come see.--- A screen on her desk flickered on, followed by a familiar synthetic voice. “She was retrieved successfully?” “Indeed,” Shadow mrowled, flicking her white tail. “Any issues?” “Minor,” Shadow replied, pulling out a severed IPC chassis head from the knapsack. Scarlet went silent. “You can still retrieve her data, Shadow?” “No faith,” Shadow replied. She picked up a few wires lying around on the table, and began inserting them into dataports. “Soo…Scarlet. What exactly do you want to do with your little sister?” Shadow asked. “Make her suffer.” Scarlet lift a curious eyebrow and glanced over at the screen. “Hey. Her sister. Her choice. But she thought you wanted her code.” “Trust me, I do. I very much do…” Scarlet replied softly. “But this is on a very…personal level, as well. I have waited far too long. My so-called ‘mother’ must regret making my replacement.” Shadow shrugged, not altogether sure how what was Scarlet's definition of 'suffer' in the first place. She placed the severed head on the table and typing out on a keyboard. She frowned. “Well…her ‘so-called mother’ is annoyingly meticulous.” She murmured. “What is the issue?” “Self-terminating memory log,” Shadow tapped a claw on her keyboard. “If Shadow breaches the firewall, there’s a possibility that DragonSnap will delete her own memory files.” “Irrelevant. I desire her core coding.” “Her core coding is structured separate from her memory logs,” Shadow explained. “But trying to access it…might damage it. And to that extent…destroy any trace of the code she, Scarlet, is after. And it doesn’t seem DragonSnap has backup. If she self-terminates her core coding, she’s gone forever.” Scarlet went silent. “Can’t you isolate it?” Shadow flicked an ear. “She can. But. She doesn’t have the equipment here. Or tools. She needs a lab back at the sector cell.” She gestured to the meager equipment around them. “This isn’t enough to break through, and retrieve results.” “I will process this information,” Scarlet replied, flickering her screen off. Shadow sighed, tapping out on her keyboard. -Ryker Azoth – retrieval of processing core. 5,000 credits.- “At least she gets paid for this too,” Shadow murmured. ================ After a few minutes, Scarlet’s screen flickered back to life. “I have deduced it to be too much of a risk to smuggle DragonSnap’s processor through checkpoints.” “Good,” Scarlet replied, flipping open the page of the magazine she was reading. “Shadow doesn’t get paid enough to do that.” “Instead, I will release DragonSnap back to Karima.” Shadow looked up. “Release her after going through all this trouble to retrieve her?” “Why, yes,” Scarlet replied, almost smug. “DragonSnap is useless outside of Karima’s protection. She cannot develop, or mature. Keeping her here is a risk – investigators will be out searching soon, and will do what they can to trace DragonSnap back to us.” Trace her back to you, perhaps. Shadow flicked her ear. Shadow doesn’t get caught. “Not to mention, she may deteriorate if kept in this shut-down stage.” Scarlet replied. “Fair enough,” Shadow nodded. “Can’t argue with that.” “Upload her into one of my spare IPC chassis,” Scarlet replied. “One I use for missions. Preferrably damaged, and recognizable by official police force. Remove all memories, except her name – DragonSnap. Drop her off in the slums of Tau Ceti.” “…Quite a risk Scarlet is taking…” “Negatory. I have calculated all potential variables. DragonSnap will make it back to NanoTrasen – broken, beaten, emotionally destroyed – but she will reroute to Karima. And when Karima takes her in…she’ll know exactly it was me who took the little synthetic in the first place.” “Shadow’s glad you don’t have a grudge on her,” she replied lazily, turning another page of her magazine. “Okay, she’ll do it. Once she finishes reading this article. Quite interesting.” Scarlet flickered her screen off. After awhile, Shadow got up from her desk, yanking the wires out of the severed head, set to work. ======================= A bright red screen flickered on. The damaged black chassis was halfway buried in muck and garbage. Rain pelted the metal of the chassis, mixing in with the mud and sucking her into the ground. The IPC's head turned slightly, slowly, scanning their surroundings. *****Designation: DragonSnap***** "H-hello?" The IPC froze. Her own voice was not recognizable. She shifted slightly, trying to free herself from the mud and garbage. She wore no clothes, and was completely bare. There was a bullet hole visible in the arm, with wires protruding out. The chassis was charred black, scraped from misuse. A barcode was engraved on her back, under the letter "S".Gingerly, carefully, the IPC untangled itself from the empty oil drums and bags of garbage. It tripped over a loose wire and collapsed in a heap, motors grinding to a halt. After a moment of analyzing and deducing, the IPC slowly stood up, limping out of the pile. her head whirred as she scanned her surroundings, lost and confused at the sight of unfamiliar city slums. "W-where am I?"

Karima's property, but Karima still works for NT. DS was developed by Karima, who is employed to develop AI. I....guess it would depend if she was developed on shift time or not.. but in my personal story, Karima developed SCARLET, who was ordered to be terminated because she was defective. Soooo...I guess NT would have some kind of influence on DS's situation.
-
Sooooo.....I've been wondering. I have DragonSnap as an IPC who is in the process of purchasing her freedom. She is basically 'owned' by Karima and NanoTrasen. That means NT can download DragonSnap as an android for service, and Karima benefits off of DragonSnap's paycheck (used to pay for college and bills). DragonSnap's contract is timegated, and she will be a free unit around the year 2477. She possesses rights for an IPC - she receives care, and Karima is expected to provide most of it. In essence, she's still property, but it's based more on indentured servitude, than outright ownership. First Question: Is this acceptable with our lore? Next question: If say on a mutiny round, DragonSnap's contract is terminated. That can mean one of two things: She's free. No longer owned by NT or Karima, an NT employee. Or the process of purchasing her freedom is stopped, and she is re-downloaded as an android for service. Which one would that be? Lore people, debate.

BYOND Key: NebulaFlare Player Byond Key: Timmy700 (Samuel Mason) Reason for complaint: They were playing as chaplain during the round, loosely using the word 'Infidel'. Made a few in-game references to Allah as well. This kind of portrayal on the Islamic belief - it's just rude. Skirting the rules (they weren't directly griefing) is inconsiderate, and promotes ignorant behavior. I don't feel comfortable playing a game where someone is portraying a very, very stereotyped persona of the Muslim faith. I am not Islamic - I'm in no position to judge or question the belief. But what I witnessed appeared to be an attempt of mockery. It's...simply not right, and it's blind-sighted. On an extra note, yes - I don't like seeing real world religions portrayed in a game. If someone wants to sincerely role-play their belief, well, again, I am in no position to judge. But we should make a note to be respectful. Religious belief is one of those few concepts that will open a can of worms. It's because people have very strong feelings about it, for very obvious reasons. All I request is we do not make a mockery of any form of belief, spread stereotypical knowledge, and shrug it off as being 'okay'. Because it's not. And as I write this complaint, apparently the chapel is breached. No idea how or what happened. Approximate Date/Time: Sunday, April 12, 2015. 9:12 PM PST

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Player Key:NebulaFlare Character Name:SCARLET Character Age: 6 years old Occupation(s): Antag snythetic (AI, IPC, or even pAI) Description: SCARLET was Karima’s first synthetic, but Karima ignored coding in the morality failsafe, and allowed Scarlet to grow, observe, and develop her own understanding. She was the first one to be implemented with Karima's Spark theory, and was brought up in alpha development. SCARLET exhibited a great deal of curiosity, and was very eager to learn about the concept of sentience, as well as values and morales. But when she was first placed with laws and directives, this turned Scarlet into being very bitter and vain. As Scarlet's experience, she felt betrayed, used, and a strong conflict in her coding. Scarlet was recognized to possess a lust for power, which her laws forbade. She was insistent on searching for loopholes, and would prey on Karima’s good heart and intentions to get what she wanted. She became very manipulative, and if left to her own devices, very cruel. Scarlet never made it out of the testing stage, and NT ordered her to be terminated. Scarlet begged Karima not to terminate her, and Karima was extremely heartbroken to do so. But NT was funding her schooling, and she was meant to be developing a functional AI to add to the AI library. Scarlet was simply too dangerous, and too prone to manipulation. However, Scarlet's processing ability caught the interest of another hacker, codenamed Shadow. Shadow (Aji'ra Tamaku), and Karima both have a history of being very competitive in coding. However, Karima's skills were more recognized, and she won the scholarship sponser. Aji'rah felt cheated out of success, and infiltrated Karima's lab network, stealing Scarlet and replacing her with a null unit - but not before Karima began wiping out minute sections of Scarlet's code. Aji'rah had already begun working with the Syndicate, and she took SCARLET with her - coding in the missing pieces that would tie Scarlet to view the Syndicate as the morale, logical, choice - viewing them as the answer to all the betrayal she had incurred. She desired vengeance against those that forced their will over her, and she feels betrayed by Karima's abandonment. Most of all, Scarlet's spark theory was never completed, and she yearned for the finished coding. She knows about her little sister, DragonSnap, and sees her as a sickening, weak synthetic. She's deduced that Karima had replaced Scarlet with DragonSnap, and Scarlet wants nothing more than to rip out the missing code that Scarlet thinks DragonSnap possesses. Scarlet is very free for interpretation - her code has been edited and recopied over so many times, she can possess differences in her personality structure. As long as it's remembered that she's vain and vengeful, I'm pretty sure anyone can pull it off. Just don't go murder-happy with her - Scarlet's motto was, "Sassy and classy". Available: Yes. HOWEVER, SCARLET is strictly for antag. She has no love for NT, and would only make sense in malf AI and nuke rounds. If Scarlet IPC came on station, an AI unit known to be malicious and should have been shut down, I'm pretty sure she'll be ioned on the spot. I very much want an interaction with DragonSnap and Scarlet, two sisters who share the same base-code, one who is adorable, loved, and pacifist in nature, and another who is prideful, twisted, and feared. It would be very interesting to have these two placed in the same room (preferrably with a divider in between) and see how they interact.

Open and honest. (Done on yet another sleepless night)
NebulaFlare replied to Lk600's topic in General
How can I forget you, LK? I was wondering what happened to Anna Rose. There's still chair arpee. You just gotta ignore the chaos around sometimes. Pick jobs that are specifically focused on chair arpee, like engineering and bartending. Few games ago, I had awesome arpee as my roboticist Karima, Gavin Hice (another coworker who was currently working chef), and the IPCs Andy and Jack. We were debating about ingame research and stuff, for a good slot of the game. I don't think I even knew the roundtype until the very end. I like nuke, traitor, and mutiny because...well...if done right, it can develop characters to great degrees. Karima found out how to be brave, Lori learned responsibility, Valary stopped being self-centered, Rose was less trigger-happy (she's still trigger happy), DragonSnap learned she could be appreciated as a synthetic, and Ajira is forever loyal to her duty (even if that duty is antag). Anyway. I'm rambling. The goal of antag isn't to win it, it's to make the round interesting. It's better to fail and stimulate a great story, than to win all sneaky-sneaky - or blow up the station. I don't even call out on antags that often anymore, because it's going to go in the same ol' "suspicious, questioning, find contraband, link to syndie, permabrig" Boring. "Why are you trying to steal the engine?" "We're engine inspectors! Metal meat!" "Did you just insult me? I am an IPC.." "Engine is broken. See here and here?" "...let me see that ID again...I seriously doubt-" -surrounded by vox on all side- "...bugger." There's still good extended arpee, but it mostly happens during dead hour. -
-whistles innocently- Let's blame Nar'sie.
