Shadow narrowed her eyes. "Nobody...gets into the system....unregistered. No one." She set her drink down and began typing away at her keyboard. Jauntla would not appreciate such a breach in security. Besides, slavery is detestable...

Ok, let's face it: Loyalist objectives are silly and unbelievable. We have 1. Bluespace disease. 2. Fire female heads of staff/women xeno because of radiation. 3. Fire male heads of staff/women xeno because of radiation. Bluespace disease is a legit and understandable. An illness that cannot be detected and must be contained, is a very real threat to play off of. But firing certain members of the crew because they are male/female - it's baseless and unrealistic. And usually, only too minor of a handful of people get involved in the round. I suggest we come up with a few more....realistic objectives the Mutineers can revolt against. 1. A war has been declared between Sol and Tau Ceti. Our station is tasked in constructing Gygax and Durands. re-assign all civilian and xeno personnel to mining duties, have research produce strictly military-grade weapons. 2. Certain crewmembers have been confirmed of rimworld piracy activites, and their contracts are to be terminated. Fire the male/female crewmembers involved, the same way as radiation. 3. A ship has been detected within the station's sector, before disappearing. It is believed that the ship is carrying a crew of highly trained agents who are to infiltrate the station, and pose as regular crewmembers - become sleeper agents. Given a list of selected crew, interrogate and do whatever means necessary (implant, for example) to ensure loyalty to NT. Other ideas/thoughts?

[Denied] Lori Alvarez's Potato Battery Paperweight
NebulaFlare replied to NebulaFlare's topic in Denied Apps
actually...I already have two requests for one character....I'm going to withdraw this third. You can lock it. -
BYOND Key: NebulaFlare Character name: Lori Alvarez Item name: Potato Battery Paperweight Why is your character carrying said item to work? When Lori was promoted to Chief Engineer, her engineering team gifted her a potato battery. It's been a running joke since. She's used it as a paperweight. Item function(s):It's just a little item that can sit on her desk. If it's not too difficult to code, could it act like a folder and hold papers? Item description: This is a potato battery paperweight. It probably wouldn't be good to eat. Item appearance: The potato battery ingame is way too large of an icon. Perhaps if it was shrunk to a quarter of that size? Additional comments:

BYOND Key: NebulaFlare Character name:Lori Alvarez Item name: Margrite Why is your character carrying said item to work? If anyone can remember, way way waaaaay back, Lori would always grab a pink screwdriver and call it Margrite. It added a touch of classy lady quality in a rugged, rough-and-tumble department of engineering. Once, she even stayed behind on shift to look for Margrite because she couldn't find it. I just RPed that she keeps misplacing it. Item function(s):It functions exactly like a screwdriver. Item description:This is a pink screwdriver. Etched into the handle is the word 'Margrite' Item appearance: It's a pink screwdriver. Additional comments:

So on the wiki, we got this: Can we add this to our server?

I'm on the fence. I remember having great time with this assistant (I forget names) who would order the costume crate, then dress up as a mime. He'd go about miming everything, never talking. It'd be really nice to have an entertainer or comedian - but take out the sillyness of a big goofy moron that disrupts everyone's work and cause a headache. Someone to boost crew morale, tell funny jokes, play music in the bar, that kinda stuff.

To be honest, I'd like to have color variants, as long as it stays metallic. I miss the old white prosthetic color.

You can't jobhop between multiple departments. (That would be using your character to play too many roles) -Lori is strictly engineering. You can't act like an onduty ERT member while working on station. (If a situation happens you can help but you can only follow orders not give them) -Won't do it at all. Engineering comes first in all scenarios. You must follow orders given to you (Provided your not in a specific role or already executing an order given) <-mainly for if your title is assistant -Lori can be a trouble maker, but she does follow orders. If you have been given an order once the situation has ended you must return the gear to said department. <-mainly for if your title is assistant -Of course Your character can not start off as an antag or be given it from autotraitor. (Antag status given by ic mechanics are ok(Cult,Etherals,Mutiny,Rev(?))) -Can I still be a head mutineer? I can give up syndi affiliation, certainly. You are not allowed to use the ERT status as a way of getting promoted or gaining an advantage. (IE, going I'm ERT give me X job or weapon) -Certainly won't. You can't use knowledge a normal crew member wouldn't know. (No special ERT meta) -Definitely won't.

Player Complaint - Sarko - COMPUTER - Mutiny
NebulaFlare replied to a topic in Complaints Boards Archive
The amount of ignorance in this post is ... kind of staggering. Syphons on aurora are exceedingly slow. Killing someone with them will take ages, and vents from another area actually would completely stop and reverse the process due to how much faster vents are than syphons (unless distro is affected). I will actually routinely intentionally open doors and firelocks to help speed up re-pressurization in a controlled manner, which does occasionally scare people who ignore the lockdown+tape that was set up. Atmospherics itself does not create much lag. No, not even syphoning a room. The real lag-causers are FIRES, which need to be updated quite badly (We have an old version of bay's firecode, which none of our coders have touched. Their new version is much, much less laggy and also can break floors, which makes fires less deadly.) Likewise, cleaning a gas spill or superheated area is actually trivially easy if you don't spread it around. Just vent the area (with a RCD or by taking out a few walls) and then refill it. If you aren't dealing with sun-level heat (3000-4000k) you can even just turn on the gas filters or use replace air to fix a room. From what I can see, the AI was very careful not to let anyone be injured by the syphons. I do not see what the issue is. You know what, I wrote this when I was sleep deprived. Forgive meh... /cri -
Player Complaint - Sarko - COMPUTER - Mutiny

Alright. I was in the round as CE Lori/head mutineer. Me being Lori, my IC personality is to be naturally distrustful and spiteful to AI - and synthetics in general. Lori assume every AI is guilty until proven innocent. The moment the syphons went up, I did assume you were hacked, or had laws changed, so I was very surprised to see they weren't. I only have two issues from what I saw. Syphoning the bridge, and syphoning escape. Usually, Atmos is untouched because of mechanic reasons: it creates lag, it's not easy to reverse. At the brig, it was only myself and Ryker. I was in a hardsuit, but ryker was not. He could have been injured. At escape, preventing people to escape after continuously thrawting my efforts to recall the shuttle (I was lagging, and couldn't cut the proper wires to stop you). I think a warning would suffice. Just don't mess with syphons, or anything atmos related. It's not easy to tell the difference between knocking them out to survival means, scaring them, or having outright murderous intentions. It has to be done REALLY well (once, an AI was using syphons to scare my character. Would turn them on, then shut them off as I started gasping) but that was with a very small number of targets, and the OOC intention was made clear - to scare, not to kill. Syphons take a long time to kill someone. But only engineering department would know how to counter it.most people are going to run away from where the area is being syphoned, and make the problem worse. Also, I was half expecting you to crush people in doorways - I'm glad you didn't. making the doors spark would also hurt people, which would go against your laws. -
Alright, from here on out, Apps are going to require a little more stuff. Mo'Taki are coming in too quickly.
-
Za'Had gets my pre-emptive +1, but I do want Je'Rian to first pass acceptance, then get assimilated into Mo'Taki, before we add Za'Had. Sierra does make a fair point - there's gonna be a case of nepotism going around very soon. But all I can think of is back when Tool had his huge family. I....I dunno. I think we're adding members too fast. But on the flip side, there's only been once when we had 4 Mo'Taki on station. Most of the time it's just 1-2. That's acceptable, right?

IPCs are only dead if their screen blows out. Otherwise, they can be repaired and brought back.

BREAKING NEWS - SILARIS UAEKIS SHOT! -
NebulaFlare replied to Prospekt's topic in NanoTrasen Public Network
Tavaku took another sip of his beer. "Hey Karima," he said. "Don't you know Uaekis?" Karima glanced over from her workdesk. "Which one?" she asked. "She knows the younger one, Sirasarot. Why he ask?" Tavaku gestured to the Holo-monitor. "They're on the news." he replied. Karima set down her tools and walked over, taking a seat next to her brother. "By S'raandar...they attacked him? why?" Tavaku shrugged. "No idea." -

What about Tavaku Mo'Taki? What do people think of him?

Someplace, somewhere, Rose Watson cringed.
