I thought doing things like that would be considered self antagging, and get me in trouble though? I'm sure alot of people have the same impression, and thats probably partly why this is the case

Type: City Founding/Settlement Date: Not certain on an exact date here, but it would have been before space-faring culture came to Adhomai Region of Space: Adhomai, S'Rand'Marr Controlled by: Human corporations, with the Kal'Tiiv family as the 'Tajaran face' of the corporation Other Snapshot information: - Due to common contact with space faring traders and non-Tajara races, Tradeband is a common second language for most residents - The most common occupations in Kal'Tiiv are fishers, traders, miners, and mechanics - The current 'mayor' of Kal'Tiiv is Rala Kal'Tiiv, a female Njarir'Akran and Hharaar mix Long Description: Kal'Tiiv Space Port & Ocean Harbour Kal'Tiiv was first formed in (Enter date here) as a small sea-side fishing camp, owned by a nobleman named Ko'Zhan Kal'Tiiv, it's location chosen due to the natural terrain - The proximity of the ocean, where they could fish, and open wilderness, where they could hunt for food when fishing was low. Ko'Zhan, his family, and the 'lesser' Tajara under his servitude made up the population of this settlement, though this population was quick to start growing when rumors started spreading of the quantity and quality of Kal'tiiv's fish. As population grew over the next three years, Kal'Tiiv quickly became a small town of not only fishermen, but merchants, smiths, shipwrights, and other Tajaran laborers, with the Kal'Tiiv family in charge of it all. They directed the construction of fishing and trading vessels, organization of land-based trading caravans, the production of supplies, even going so far as sending laborers out to break up the ice and create viable pathways for sea faring vessels through areas that were frozen over. From there, the town quickly became a common trading point for other nearby towns and settlements, and rumors continued to spread of the pride and joy of Kal'Tiiv: The fish, which was commonly served to noblemen of neighbouring territories. Some time down the line, shortly after first contact with humans and as uprisings were beginning, the Kal'Tiiv family recognized the growing unrest with those that lived in and worked for the growing city. In an attempt to curb any uprisings, knowing that it would be a losing battle if they tried to fight it, they instead announced to the city they would work with them to 'build a better Adhomai' and 'work for their freedom', with the backing and assistance of human corporations interested in picking up control of Kal'Tiiv. The family remained as the 'face' that guided the city, but otherwise let it go in its own direction (Really, letting the corporations direct the flow of everything). Today, Kal'Tiiv is a bustling, industrialized port city situated on the edge of the sea. Everything within this city is co-run by human corporations, and the still influential Kal'Tiiv family - However, the Kal'Tiiv family is mostly just a frontal face for the corporation that really controls the trading, fishing, and mining operations in the area. Kal'Tiiv is a common place for space-faring traders to conduct their business, and Tradeband is a commonly taught and practiced language for Tajara in the city as a result. The city's most notable feature is the Kal'Tiiv Space Port and Ocean Harbour (Commonly called the 'Spoh' by residents), which, as its name implies, doubles as a trading port and safe harbour for both sea-faring and space-faring vessels.

Hm, well, yeah I guess this can work. The Mo'Taki come from an industrialized port-town/city. But there could be small mines nearby. I actually specifically listed mining as one of the common occupations in the Kal'Tiiv lore application I'm working on, although Kal'Tiiv isn't a mountain city, it's an ocean-side city

What about items that may or may not be used for lore-based religions, such as Tajaran beliefs? (We'd have to come up with some things for it I'm sure, but Kylan would definitely make use of some things)

http://aurorastation.org/r/records/index.php?list Figured I'd put this here for anyone that wants to make use of it It's that thing some of you probably keep hearing about, where you can enter in information about your character, and when submitted, it will generate pretty, formatted records for you to paste into your character's employment, medical, and security records in game. The results look something like this, using one of my characters as an example: http://aurorastation.org/r/records/index.php?uid=sierrakomodo_rasineha%27kim Medical: Emplyoment: Security It'll even generate a formatted forum post for you to put up if you want to put your records on a thread somewhere, kind of like here (Picture isn't a part of this, I added that myself after generating the post): http://aurorastation.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=1651

I had a plan to start a newscast feed ICly as a chaplain, telling short stories about the religion and read the other feeds people were writing to. But then I noticed.. There isn't a newscaster anywhere in the chapel area. Can one be added? Preferably in the chaplain's office? I think to the left of the requests console could be a good place, as it gives quick access for the chaplain when sitting in the chair. Or perhaps on the wall behind the visitor's chair, for anyone in the office to easily reach.

This has my vote, just gotta edit it to not be Karima's brother, and all set. I'm good with it, too

There's also the part where Tajara wear so many layers on Adhomai because of the cold. The wiki's said that in other environments, like stations, Tajara are more known to wear light clothing because it gets too warm for them (And many on station roll down their jumpsuits)

This sums up the issue excellently. (Well, there's a lot of noise in the current two complaints, and not all of it is related, but at the core, this is it.) I think these characters deserve their place and should be allowed to exist. Some people seem to believe they are a failure of proper and responsible roleplay, as an antag, head, or member of security. Some people want players to have more freedom to be ICly abusive in roles of powers. Some don't. Which direction should the server take? I don't know. But this is something I would expect admins to eventually release a statement on. I feel like nobody has really read or paid attention to my posts in my own complaints thread.

I'm just going to mention this is being handled in PM between myself and Sue. Unless she has anything else she wants to add, I think it's safe to close the thread at this point. -
SierraKomodo's Mod Applications
SierraKomodo replied to SierraKomodo's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
Mostly my split-second decisions I've made without any forethought, which usually end poorly. I've had a few of those both ICly and OOCly. Also had a habit of getting incredibly frustrated and saying things in OOC/TS3 that I shouldn't have. Scopes usually shushes me and I shut up afterwards, take a moment, and deal with it in ahelp. I do have a quick question about moderation things. If it's something that involves myself (I.e., something I would have ahelped if not a moderator), should I still ahelp it/bring it up to other mods attention instead of dealing with it myself since I am involved in it and may be biased as a result? -
Don't have the time to read all these threads, but I have no problems with conflict and such from antags, as long as it's done in a way that the victim can at least interact and respond. (I do think my original post might have come off the wrong way though, but it's too late to edit it since the thread has so many replies). I'm just going to clarify here that my issue with Sue in that post wasn't that conflict happened, (That was clarified with me in ahelp, I'd had the wrong impression about combat once the shuttle arrives, and I have no problem with that particular aspect now that I know), or even that I died. It's in the manner it happened. It's that it happened with immediately being attacked, without a single thing said or emoted, and then being left there to die before my body was dragged off some time later. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse saying this repeatedly, but people don't seem to have been paying attention to the OP of that thread. -Shrug- I figured the above was necessary to mention from skimming a couple posts. I'll read through everything in an hour or two

Complaint - Suethecake, vox
SierraKomodo replied to SierraKomodo's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
If you guys want to abandon the debate, understand that you did so of your own volition. There's about 6 posts of people debating Vox behavior as a whole, which was then split into its own topic. You are free to bring the complaint back on track by explaining clearly what you are still dissatisfied with, and what you would like to see done against it. If you're giving up, don't come back later saying "well this bad thing happened but nobody wanted to deal with it", because that decision is your own. The main thing I had an issue with was being attacked with no word or warning. I was fired upon the moment I was spotted; I hadn't even realised she was there until the first hit that moved me and pinned me to the wall. If the crossbow wasn't on the ground, it probably was in my hand and I'd misclicked the drop button, which makes sense the vox would register that as a threat. But the thing is, I'd made no move to load it, or aim it, or fire it. Basically, all I want is, in the future, don't just start shooting at me unless I've already been aggressive against the antags. As a player, I prefer to RP things when possible over use in game click-spam combat mechanics. If the RP ends with me being killed for whatever reason, fine, at least there was interaction and warning for it, and some chance for me to wiggle my way into at least staying /alive/. -

Provide IAA's with an Employment Record Console

Well, at least if Katana is the AI, IAA's can ask her to check someone's records until this is fixed. -

It's not that I was killed, it's that it was immediately shoot. And shoot repeatedly, even after I was disarmed and pinned to the wall. One shot to pin and disarm me would have been fine. Locking onto me instead of shooting would have been fine. Both of those create an oppurtunity for some form of RP, instead of just unloading into me until I'm dead. If the scene started out that way, and still ended up with me dead because Katana refused to cooperate, then that would have been fine. But as it stands, there was no chance for anything at all beyond two or three radio messages calling for help -
BYOND Key: SierraKomodo Player Byond Key: Suethecake (As Kahikahakichakita) Reason for complaint: Immediately attacking and killing characters at the end of the round, without prior provocation (And without any kind of interaction. Just showed up, immediately shot, and dragged off the body) Approximate Date/Time: April 14, 2014, approximately 8:45 PM Pacific Just a brief summary of what happened... Katana Charlie was out EVA, tracking Oliver Stefan's GPS coordinates, whom apparently had been killed in the same manner as myself shortly after. While I'm trying to figure out how to get the rods out of him so I can move his body, Kahikahakichakita shows up and before I've realised they're there, I'm being fired on without any word or warning, and then constantly shot until I'm dead. I did have a crossbow that I found outside while looking for oliver, but that had been dropped to the 'ground' while I was trying to get Oliver's body, and I was otherwise unarmed. From what I've been told, pretty much the exact same thing happened to Oliver. The things that really bother me about this are the pure gankyness of what happened, and the fact that Sue's one of the more vocal people about disliking antags for doing this exact kind of thing.

[Resolved] Genetic Engineering
SierraKomodo replied to Erik Tiber's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
A genitically inherited disease, curbed/cured/completely prevented in the next generation of the family line through genetic modification; It'd be something noted in medical records and wouldn't cause much shift in gameplay mechanics or appearance but would provide some RP value for people that read records. Also, let's say this genetic modification were to have had unforeseen side effects at some point (Perhaps deteriorating psychological stability for X reason, for those antag rounds), or the disease was only delayed, not stopped completely. Just an example based on my thoughts of genemods being used to cure Ziva's heart disease previously. -
I don't personally see a need to have to hardlock it. Worst case scenarion, someone calls it early and either an admin catches it and stops the vote, or the vote doesn't pass because everyone wants to keep playing and knows better - Or, there's the off chance that 2/3 of the people playing do want to end the round for whatever reason (I.e... The wizard died in 5 minutes and there's no admins on to fix the wizard/make a new one), and the vote does pass.
