B-b-but m-m-my sekret f-forums! ... Agree totally with this. Giving folks read-only access (at minimum) to the head of staff forum would be a good thing, in my book. At the very least it would let them know what is going on.

>Implying engineers don't spend 90% of the shift in magboots or barefoot anyway. I'm on the fence, as I'm really not a fan of making it harder than it already is to equip our nonhuman players. Converting suits and getting/making proper gloves is already an ordeal.

Unless Sue has something different, Siik'mas is written using Roman characters. Mostly due to the lack of literacy on Ahdomai pre-NT. There are probably romanticized versions of Siik'mas chracters anyway. This does sound neat, but I worry that it would be difficult to implement for not-so-much benefit. Oh yeah plus: "Player-excluding things, yadda yadda, cliques yadda-yadda."

I really like those alternate Taser sprites. Mind, I also loathe how the Aurora tasers look currently. Just super-clunky and way bigger than they need to be for what they do.

He reminds me somewhat of another Tajara that I was always fond of, Mathus It'hurna. His mercenary nature is really refreshing. He's hard to talk too, however.

Most people who play heads are also readily recognized by their departments and/or other command staff. The title just... isn't really necessary and promotes elitism.
-
People will do this automatically, VIA personality and experience, or they will be assigned by the local heads of staff on an as-needed basis. I see no real net gain in this, except for a vehicle for a few players to try and throw out the "I'm better than you" and "I'm the senior X, so do as I say." card. I would much rather hierarchy below heads of staff/command roles develop organically. This is really quite unnecessary.

[Withdrawn] PeskyGravy's Head Whitelist applaction
Jamini replied to PeskyGravy's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
27 is too young to be a head of staff on Aurora. What education does he have? Did he stop going to school at 18? Does he have a degree? While I won't comment on the back-story content specifically... could you go into more detail regarding the assault and rescue? Who saved him? Where did they work? Did Gary and his unnamed rescuer stay in contact? How did Gary rise through the ranks of NT? -
Add a newscaster to the chapel or chaplain's office
Jamini replied to SierraKomodo's topic in Archive
I don't see why we couldn't add one into the chaplain's office. I'll look into it tonight. -
Omnir Al-Nasser ...is officially diagnosed with dwarfism. ...isn't nearly as nice, or stable, as he seems. ...refers to his bothers as "Ji", in all languages. ...has a very large family, almost all of whom are very low class. ...is (literally) a whore. Nasir Khayyam ...changed his first name when he started working for NT. ...absolutely hates being called "Boss" or "Chief" ...is terrified by cyborgification. ...really likes the junk food from vendors. ...originally had his pattern as "banded". It was later fixed to "striped" ...finds working on atmospheric pipes a relaxing pastime.

Sierra's character records template generator thing
Jamini replied to SierraKomodo's topic in General
You can look through public records on the site. Right now about fifteen people have public records. -
I really don't see the point in this. Employment records exist for a reason.

~@WireProphet Having fun! Tried EGE ("Edge") Shrimp with curry, was delicious! #Solcuisine#travel#Sol ~@WireProphet Europa habitats are nice temperature too! Keeps at 5-10C on average. Nicer than Tau Ceti! #travel#tourism#Sol

I don't see the need, as a head can simply give an order to cease or file an injunction. They have got plenty of tools to stop people from being dicks to them.

What interactions I have had with Lux have been exceedingly pleasant. He is exceptionally good at delegating, and great to chat with even when playing a Lowly EMT. He isn't individually very good at fighting, but he is good at getting people to do what is necessary when it is necessary. He is also great about getting folks into places where they work. He is the only captain I've seen that makes use of the guest pass terminal, and when you need a door open RIGHT NOW it's often Captain Lux who is there just in the nick of time to open the door. 10/10, would repair his face again.

Then she should have made an effort to communicate with Katana and verify their intents, as is usually common courtesy in these situations unless you've already established somehow the person is going to be hostile. We should wait to see what she has to say about that, in this case. At the very least I know she had a headset, as she informed us of the atmospherics sabotage over radio to lure us out for the initial attempt to sopo Nasir and Oliver. I do not know if she was wearing it or her vox headset however. I will also point out that the initial move made by sue in this altercation was an attempt to shoot both myself and Oliver (who had no ranged weapons nor reason to carry them) with sopos. Which is borderline in and of itself.
-
Yes Tajara are digitigrade. If you look at their hardsuits, that aesthetic was incorporated as a deliberate design choice.
-
Frances: Sue had a station headset. She was able to talk to us.
-
Quick point. The fight was originally started with an attempt to sopo one of the killed engineers and another engineer who survived. A syringegun-styled weapon that was fired without any prior warning or RP. Depending on that player's actions afterwards, it could very well have been an attempted gank. (It probably was not, but neverthless the opening move was slightly in that vein.) Anyway, I'm bowing out of this now.

((OOC info: I've spoken with Sierra about this, and we have opted to place a bounty on her AI/IPC's head. Please send me a screen shot showing possession of Katana's core/card/IPC with your character in either the syndicate outpost or an escape shuttle to confirm the bounty. Alternatively, Sierra will contact me if the bounty is completed. In the rare case that you end up on a nuke team with my operative and Katana is captured, my operative must survive the mission and return to base to be able to pay out. Both the KATANA and KUANI units are acceptable to Tahan.))

~@WireProphet - Short trip to Europa coming up. Looking forward to it! Going to see Raf's home! #Sol, #Jupiter, #Europa, #Travel

If I might suggest something? I'd suggest the "deadspace" location the vox jump to be a sort of station, a conglomeration of ships that have docked to one-another, akin to an ever-shifting city with various vox from each ship intermingling and bartering/trading between various raids/trading missions. Having the "Inviolate" would essentially be a code Vox follow so that they do not damage each-others ships while docked to the these 'arkships'. Vox would, as a rule, simply apply it to the Meat Arkships by convention, and would expect that the meats do the same to them. (up until they don't.) ... would you like to collaborate on the writeup perhaps? I'd be interested in sharing some ideas. I'm rather a fan of the Vox.
-
I, personally, would love if Vox had a small code of sorts to limit them from going full balls-to-the-wall shoot/maim/kill, unless really provoked. The way vox were originally done, and how I tend to play them, was with a sort three-rule "Inviolate" which essentially boiled down to three short mantras. 1. Vox do not leave Vox behind. -In part to encourage hostage trades, in part to discourage rambo Vox, the first rule was very simple: You don't leave Vox behind, even your dead. Lore-wise, on bay, this reason was so that their cortical stacks could be uploaded/implanted into a new chick to "clone" the vox personality. Keeping it, I feel, is a good thing that helps keep the flavor of the Vox. 2. Vox do not destroy what they can steal. Minimize damage. -Once again, to help distinguish heist from nuke, the second rule existed to encourage Vox to steal and harass rather than cause excessive damage. The vox were originally scavengers and thieves, they aren't there to kill, maim, or destroy. Damaging something is a means to an end, one that can provide materials or labor (ideally) to the arkships. 3. Vox do not actively seek to kill. Minimize casualties. -A third point, in line with the other two, the third rule existed to discourage Vox from randomly murdering crew. While retaliation and reaction is perfectly fine, Vox just... don't have an active interest in killing people. They are there to find things that will be useful back home (like metal, plasma, nitrogen tanks, engine parts, solars, captive engineers.) not to cause terror or damage NT directly. The inviolate, I've found, helps keep the vox from acting in an excessive manner. Crew that are aware of the code also can use it as a stepping stone for peaceful negotiations (after all, Vox are traders too! Often!) or to betray the vox. Of course, if the crew mistreats the Vox or breaks the Inviolate (possibly unwittingly)... all bets are off. For example... cremating the bodies of Vox and making them completely unrecoverable may very well be such a sin that a vox would willingly attempt to destroy the station, or at least hunt down and bring back trophies of those responsible.

The Baystation corporate regs are good enough for what they do, I don't think we need to go through the trouble of rewriting all of them (and risk omitting something important along the way). The only two I see that are missing is this one (a rule for general harassment and minor dickery), as well as one for maintaining a peaceful and calm working environment (people constantly crack jokes about people they don't even know being killed horribly, and you can't exactly take them in for death threats though you should be able to take them in for something more minor). Copying and editing the regs into Aurora wiki, and changing the links in the spesslaw books to that page, probably would suffice. That way we can change what we need to change.

Yeah well, considering that large parts of various departments (mining, research, engineering) and the CE/RD responsible Telecommunications satellite are off-station. I would probably say that Procedure wasn't well thought-out to begin with. Let's not even get in to the occasional off-station rescue attempts utilizing the teleporter or telescience...
