Oki doke, 1) La'ur is strongly aligned with the Th'akh religion, holding the belief along with his clanmates that their ancestors and the spirits of the many that fell from the resulting famine and suffering of the contact war wish for them to reclaim the wastelands. Believing that it is through their guiding spirits that they are so successful in withholding the radiation of the wasteland and that their crops should continue to flourish. Given the abundance of medicinal herbs in the clan's village La'Ur routinely took part in many rituals experiencing 'visions' of spirits and following their guidance, judgement and warnings. He finds it hard to acknowledge the legitimacy of other religions, trusting that it is to Th'akh he owes the survival of himself, his family and his clan however tolerant of Sk'akh religion. La'ur is especially highly apposed to the views of the Si'Akh heresy as he feels it highly disrespects those of his clan who perished honourably post nuclear exchange. 2) La'ur from youth was much more aligned with the former Traditionalists but remains open to what modern doctrines permit his people's way of life. However given the discrimination to Th'akh shamans from the Izweski Nation he holds disdain for the nation's political doctrines on religion, having heard of many such cases from shamans travelling to the Dorviza clan seeking refuge in villages less influenced by the Izweski Nation in the wastelands. 3) To La'ur the modern 'world' of tau ceti is staggeringly alien. With a fascination of medicine and medicinal science the opportunities within such a region of space are expansive and bewildering. Having access to more advanced machinery such as neural suppressors or even just access to resources like phoron is something titillating for La'ur. At the same time he remains afraid of his relative primitiveness and language difficulties having had to learn ceti basic at an older age. He also remains worried for his family and clan left behind on Moghes and how they will fare without him, hoping to one day soon return with new knowledge to improve his communities quality of life.

BYOND Key: BearSchwanz Character Names: My most played characters: Klaus Kitzler, Cerise Contritum, Guillaume Mol, Miracle, Ethwasa Sliver Species you are applying to play: Unathi What colour do you plan on making your first alien character: Unsure - khaki or muted green. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Unathi is an interesting and seemingly kind of underplayed race that I think deserves more love, so it was attractive to me as a first alien whitelist candidate. After reading through the lore I found the narrative of Unathi to be a lot more interesting than I'd previously presumed from player interaction. That coupled with the difference in roleplay relative to humans I think would make for a very fun race to play. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Obviously you have the comparison of technological development and hardship throughout recent years for the Unathi or the effects of more ancient history but I think largely the difference in role-play boils down to the contrast of behaviour between the two species. Such differences like expressing emotion and what different gestures may mean or why such gestures would be displayed and how that exhibits the different mentality of the Unathi. Beyond that would be the way Unathi condone themselves based off of class or clan ties and honour as well as feuds over religion and major conflict both past and present. Character Name: La'Ur Dorviza Please provide a short backstory for this character: In 2412 La'Ur hatched on the southern coast of what is now known as the Guzari sea, 26 years prior to the contact war. Here in what was still a lush landscape he experienced a more traditional upbringing where he learned to hunt, fish and occasionally assisted with the harvest of medicinal plants. By 16 he took on the role of fisherman assisting with the clan's haul of fish. After the nuclear exchange of the contact war In the coming years life became harsher and harsher on La'Ur and his clan as they migrated South in hopes of preserving what little remained of the jungles, swamps and forests. Now too far from the coast to continue his work as a fisherman and growing too weak from giving all his food to his children to hunt, La'Ur turned to assisting the shamans and farmers in their effort to utilize the Dionae to repel the expanding wastelands, learning as they did how best to preserve flora in the wasteland whilst also learning the uses of each plant. Now largely unemployed La'Ur expanded upon this new found knowledge of medicinal plants in offering assistance to the healers tending to the sick, earning his keep of food for himself and his family this way. Finding great joy in assisting his clan this way La'Ur developed a fascination of medicine and wished to continue learning further than what the healers and shamans could teach him. Amongst the tales exchanged by travellers that passed through his clan's domain in search of medical assistance La'Ur learned of the opportunities being granted to Unathi by mega corporations seeking employees. Now at the age of 43 in 2455 and his children no longer requiring his guidance, La'Ur set out of the wastelands for a harsh journey East to the nearest city to then seek the nearest shuttle port and managed to secure employment on a Nanotrasen ship within Uueoa-Esa where he would learn medicine in exchange of his knowledge of Moghes' flora, later being station on the NSS Aurora as a fully trained physician at the ripe age of 51. What do you like about this character?: I think playing an older Unathi in particular would be a lot of fun. The experiences of living in and supplying for a family during pre/post nuclear war Moghes, the transition from labour work to medicinal work, the journey across the wastelands, experiencing interstellar life, learning modern medicine stationed on another Nanotrasen asset all would give me a lot to work with for role play. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Pretty decent. Getting into character is fine and inventive emotes are always fun. Notes: I tried to keep the backstory short as the format asked for just about two paragraphs. But I have been naughty and done three.

Add a #help/#gameplay-questions channel to the Discordd
BearSchwanz replied to nonno_anselmo's topic in Archive
Not a Yae nor a Nae but a few points, The new modmail system announced by arrow should be sufficient for urgent questions and issues but that don't address general learning/mentoring. You could as of now use the serious discussions channel but then again that can be flooded by other topics covering any questions as well. I think if the serious discussions channel is deemed debunk then this could be a potential replacement. Otherwise *shrug. -
Oh man. I just joined to take a look around myself. It's real nice. Lemme know if you'd like a hand, I'd love to help!

Time for shoved in +1 :B:illian person good. Good with RP and very complacent in their abilities, their character arc with Brett Feufer post cloning really shows they're capable of adapting their RP to roles like synthetic. -

In terms of in a whole, it was a mass of the fruits with radiation and acid and thiiings thrown at everyone and everything and security was unable to do anything due to constant radium injections, when I was operating on one of the engineers they busted out the OR window and attacked patient and I with a hatchet whilst security was still chasing them. -

There were no words exchanged with the engineers in medical or after sedation because they were all asleep. As the CMO of the round, from what i know there was no words to medical either. -
BYOND key: BearSchwanz Character names: Klaus Kitzler, Miracle, Cerise Contritum, Keith Peaslee, Guillaume Mol, Peter Nuemann, Ethan Weiss, Aiden Pelesa. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Since September 2019. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I want to make a couple more deadhour command characters to have fun with and teach new players/players learning new roles on an in character level. Why did you come to Aurora?: Reason stays the same as the mod app, Aurora fits my criteria in serving me what I find quality in SS13 and my opinion on why I play ss13 just wouldn't be the same on any other server. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yes. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I've got one warning and eight notes. Nothing too serious, the warning was applied to several people for the same thing, although when I started here I was a bit of a shitter which I now evidently regret. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: It's acting out a part of your imagination as a character, whether you're going for something more serious or light hearted there's a lot of fun for your mind in portraying a character that you can shape and mould at your will to whatever you like. Roleplay should be about doing whatever the hell you want in a space where it's possible, but in the context of Aurora, there's a nice line of quality. With that bit of quality control, more well thought out characters and ideas are able to build upon each other and people are able to share their imagination with others to create more sensible and collective stories. It's great to imagine things in general, much better with others. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To maintain progression of the round and let there be realistic responses from higher ups to different absurdities like antagonists taking over the station or for there to actually be consequences to people's in character actions. It also should outline someone in a department who knows what they're doing to which new players or inexperienced players of a certain department can go to for guidance or learning. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A large part is actually knowing a good deal of the department you're playing in as people can easily rely on a command member to fill in for other roles or give advise, as well as knowing when to escalate in character actions on the round such as sending out the distress beacon, suspending characters from their job, gaining armoury access or giving permission for different actions in game. I feel I'd easily be able to maintain all the associated responsibilities and ensure I keep a steady environment for roleplay and interaction whilst continuing the round as well as I can, not jumping the gun on antagonists instead giving them a fair chance to drive a story and have their fun. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? There's turmoil between all the greater nations as there always has been, however affecting nanotrasen much more directly than it has before. The CMO I intend to play isn't gigantically affected asides from being obviously more wary over Tajaran conflicts and random doors opening followed by a faint warble, perhaps taking more drastic actions on related issues. As for the Captain, Sacha is largely worried about the seemingly ever present influence from the Jargon federation and the combat seen on station from the opposing Tajara groups has really put things into perspective for him on how 'close to home' the issues of distant systems really are, adding a lot of stress. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? CMO and Captain, largely just CMO. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Ethwasa Sliver - CMO Sacha Fastvi - Captain How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I wouldn't call it anything fantastic, I like to make light of most things when roleplaying and I love doing more abstract things to see how different characters will react as well as just giving someone something funny or weird to react to making their round a little more interesting. I'm never super detailed with my roleplay but I feel I do okay keeping pace with someone else who is when interacting with them. I'd say I also do a decent job at drastically changing the attitudes of my characters with how they interact with others and make decisions. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Totally. Boink me big time for any stuffups. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yup and I'll keep it refreshed in my mind. Extra notes: I bother to teach learner roles : p

To be honest even when i first joined, as quite a shitter, I thought it was ridiculous the detective had lethal rounds even as someone coming from lrp servers. +1 -
Appeal accepted, your ckey was pulled in with some others. If you use a VPN I'd highly recommend not doing so when playing.

Hepatica was coordinated by a member of security, Pulsar, in robot speak. There was a definite shutdown but you can't expect people to not try and take a hostage from you if they have an effective means to, which they evidently had. -
Let's not get carried away here. You're missing the important stuff... subnautica? the ship is called the Aurora.... Half life? The borealis.. Starsector? That has a ship called the Aurora too.. Obviously we need to write the angry emails.

I have to say I enjoy the majority of it a lot, however, there are some discussed problems with medical and I think it's down to a few things. This section looks fine in my opinion and I think it all blends together relatively well, excuse the stinky med-mains but at least that gives a sprite contrast to the tiles. Here is where I think problems start to arise, when you have three to four colours clashing and the contrast of the reception office tiles. The red creates a weird out of place colour clash and the orange is just sort of splashed around a little randomly and the reception tiles really just don't merge too well. It all sort of creates a bit too much for us smooth brains to comprehend at once and hurts the eyes a bit. You can also see how the reception tiles create something of a depth of field effect almost with their contrast of sharpness. This also isn't very pleasant on the eyes. As someone said, it feels a lot like taking your glasses off. As I said before I really like the majority of the change but medical is a difficult mix match of colours and focuses.
