To an extent, they created the roleplay of Security arresting them, searching them, and keeping them detained. I'm not sure what all went on in perma since I wasn't there all the time, but I know they were screwing about on the radio with their voice changing, and one became a monkey and tried to escape before getting lasered to death. -

Well, considering their immediate moves after killing us were to disable sensors and begin hiding everything...I didn't see an overall point to what they were contributing, and still don't. Most of the time when I get killed by an antag, it's interesting, (not necessarily the manner of death, but the way it's RP'd out) it really advances the roleplay in some way...but slurping the HoS and then immediately going to disable sensors and begin cleaning up (which would've worked had a borg not shown up suddenly) doesn't. Hell, we found the CE later in the round the same way. Dead and everything hidden away. I don't mean to suggest antags leave their dirty laundry out in the open, but at the same time, what the heck does killing people and hiding everything accomplish? In this case, it just damned them to confinement as soon as we found the other bodies, and they were already detained because of the borg showing up. I understand they might've had plans later in the round, but considering that their first kill of the CE involved wordlessly whacking him, then wordlessly whacking two Security members doesn't exactly make me believe they did have plans other than just killing people for the sake of killing. -

If your definition of larger scale RP is the monkey fucking about, and sitting in the Brig until the end of the shift, then that is a really, really, liberal definition. -

I'll look at this from two perspectives - IC and OOC. IC'ly, I came down there because Marc is a hands-on guy, and it was an officer who had been reported dead (and confirmed by Medical, who had his body). We suspected Rin may have been involved, or at least looted his body, given that she had spoken on the Security comms, and so I ordered an officer to come detain her for a search. Considering the CE was a head of staff, and had to give me access to the area, there was no IC reason for me to suspect anyone of being involved, except Rin, who stayed away, so ordering people away made no sense, especially considering the scene had already been contaminated. There was no situation to control. It was, quite literally, a wordless ambush, with no interaction except the minimal 'Here's where we found the body and his stuff.' However, if this is an admin now saying that Security should be validing and have institutional paranoia like they're the KGB, then that's an interesting change. From an OOC standpoint, I knew damn well that Rin was probably involved in the death, and thought that when they initially failed to disarm me it was an accident due to intent, or she was trying to get by (which is a way that Rin gets by people is just shoving them, from personal experience), and I thought that because, again, there had been minimal prior interaction to even suspect I was about to be wordlessly choked out and killed. And, had I told them to get the hell out when I needed their access, or been acting extremely defensive, I'd have been blatantly metagaming/powergaming myself. Let's also consider the reverse. If the Engineers were Security, and they just wordlessly ambushed two antags, how quickly would a complaint have been posted, and people lambasting them as "Shitcurity" and "powergamers?" Except there was no larger scale RP. They were killing for the sake of killing. As I and others have mentioned, these people literally wordlessly ambushed the CE 10 minutes into the round, for no reason, except to kill someone. There was no underlying progression of the roleplay. Their 'larger scale of RP' ended 10 minutes later when they were all arrested because a borg had snapped a picture of them standing there, and then (at least for one person) became the normal 'welp, time to become a monkey and fuck about until I die' while the other two changed their voice to be annoying over the radio. Quality RP, that. Also, I'd been cloned for over an hour when the final whacks on the shuttle occurred, as the prisoner was making a nuisance of himself, and, in Marc's eyes, "resisting." -

Please explain, then, how the ambush that involved no rp prior to the killing of two people is not gank, and how non-antags did anything wrong in that scenario other than expect to actually be roleplayed with? -

What? We never saw anyone kill anyone. We were literally called there. Now, onto what Skull had asked. For it to not have been them blatantly ganking us, I'd have extended the RP, or at least done something more than showing us a place and wordlessly attacking us. Hell, we weren't a threat to finding them out or anything at the time, as they'd been all over the crime scene, and we told them that. What I would've done was let us examine the scene, and head off, and then call us back down a little later and say they'd found something of interest. At that point they would've actually roleplayed some with us, instead of calling us to an actual crime scene, then wordlessly killing the two of us. The incident reeked of blatantly playing to win and killing for the sake of 'lel, we need more than the people we've killed, so let's gank.' From what I was told by the actual CE player, they literally wordlessly ambushed him 10 minutes into the round. How either situation makes the round interesting and actually involves roleplaying with the victims, I have no idea. As for CMD, Price became very moody, aggressive, and was having a case of anxiety. He'd actually already beaten and aggressively subdued the prisoners prior to the beating on the shuttle that spawned from him 'resisting.' -

Yes, dying is part of roleplay. However, killing two people with minimal prior interaction is ganking. I think I'd been in the round for about 10 minutes (interrupted by the call of nature), when I get wordlessly ambushed and killed, for little reason more than "lel, killing is fun." Killing myself and the detective didn't advance the roleplay of the round at all. We were killed for the sake of being killed, and there was a completely lack of roleplay. Hell, the entire ambush was "stab the detective, shove the HoS, and kill them both without a word." Real enjoyable. This is after these same people tag-team ganked the CE 10 minutes into the round (per ghosts and said CE) -

The thing is, the only RP that took place prior to it was among themselves, and that was just planning it. There was 0 interaction with us (other than, "here's the scene and the body"), and 0 reason to actually ambush us, other than "Kek we need genome food." By that logic, it wouldn't be gank to plan to ambush anyone who walked into arrivals, because we planned it among ourselves. -
BYOND Key: CampinKiller Staff BYOND Key: Garnascus Reason for complaint: Warning me for EOR Grief, for roleplaying a beating of a prisoner who had murdered myself earlier and was being a problem, because it occurred on the shuttle, and after allowing said person to get away with what was basically gank as a ling, and saying it was completely fine. Also, I was told this is where I dispute admin rulings for the already-mentioned gank incident. Evidence/logs/etc: Gank Incident: https://gyazo.com/03e1070824fb35b3d78f899f837c8956 https://gyazo.com/1741e4de049f40b46d06f57c1d8ee9b4 What occurred here was that Security was called to a crime scene involving a dead officer. I, respond, along with the Detective. The group of engineers who were lings show us the scene, and then, without a word, or anything, shove us down and attack us, and kill us without any remote amount of roleplay other than the initial 'Hey, we've found a body' (which they actually had). Garn, on the other hand, said it was not gank, because they planned it out and had executed an ambush, despite the completely lack of actual roleplay involved. "EOR Grief" https://gyazo.com/6eed012f1ebc5d46e57ba0656e6c56a3 https://gyazo.com/141604ae425ab2525450918fa89f15e0 https://gyazo.com/e914242467163ecf92b289937c7de688 https://gyazo.com/b6a85e2db519045baca399f60c945348 https://gyazo.com/92ef6727116b602a8b8705b9a25146d1 Then I get warned for EOR grief by Garn, because I roleplay out beating someone who Price knows IC'ly had a role in killing him earlier in the round. Please note that it was...4 telebaton hits, and the person was being a nuisance regardless. Basically, what I've gathered from Garn's two actions here, is that ganking is a-okay, and roleplaying out a beating is not, just because it happens on the shuttle. Additional remarks: Not really.

Coolbc2000's THIRD app

Sorry, but no. Mark Syion (like the rest of the Syions) are just so damn fluffy. "Yeah I'm a special ops badass billionaire who works here to keep from being bored." Also, I recall recently Syion getting a transplant to a Tajaran body "because it would be cool." What kind of sane person would do that? -1 -
This, x100, though there should be a "stationwide" option. Also, can we implement a siren/alarm for Code Red? It would make sense, considering it basically means major shit is happening and everyone's attention is needed.

It IS assumed that Nanotrasen makes their Geneticist's sign a wavier allowing them to self test but it is not recommended at all due to the severe heath risks that could come from it. (Types of Supercancer basically) Hm, I was under the impression it was illegal (from a post by Gollee/Skull). -

You disregard your character's health by self-testing, which is a gross breach of scientific procedure, and something no sane person would do (remember, Geneticists have to pass a Level 2 Psych Screening, so there shouldn't be any mad scientists) -
MagnificentMelkior's Head application
CampinKiller replied to MagnificentMelkior's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
No, but I find it highly unrealistic to know how to do everything as a Geneticist. From rounds where I've played Medical, I've seen you literally taking patients that could be attended to by an EMT or Doctor, and treating them yourself, and doing surgery on them yourself (even when there's trained Surgeons), and doing triage, instead of...doing Genetics things. Also, the bolded portion just makes that event even worse in my opinion. What sane person would go 'Oh, time to inject myself with this dusty thing found in space that I have no idea what it will do to me, which is a major breach of scientific procedure and ethics!' -

CampinKiller replied to MagnificentMelkior's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Well, I can't support this. Most of my run-ins with Richter involve him being a doctor that can do everything (as a Geneticist), and he constantly disregards his superiors, and chucklefucks in Genetics (I recall you making yourself a hulk last week and naming yourself 'The God Emperor of Mankind'). I don't think he's ready for a Command role unless he improves that glaring issue. -1 -
I wouldn't say it should be that way if the majority of humanity in the Sol Alliance hadn't voted in a human supremacist group. And just because the initial reaction might be awe, it would devolve into prejudice if said race was seen as low-intelligence/taking the places of humans in the workplace.
-
Okay, why wouldn't most of humanity be xenophobic to most aliens (except Skrell), when it's taken hundreds of years to even accept humans of different skin color (which isn't even completey true, see: Trump, Mexicans, etc.). That makes no sense. Literally none. What's the point of writing racism into the lore if, when people try to be racist, are told that it wouldn't happen, or would get them fired?
-
Except NT, as a mega-corporation, wouldn't give two shits about your opinion on other races, so long as the station remains profitable. They also practically control the media in Biesel/Tau Ceti, so it wouldn't be too difficult to keep a lid on it, as well.

Wat? No, cold turkey is one of the best ways to actually quit it (yeah, you get the immediate withdrawal crap, but still a good way to quit fast). Eh, I think going back at all might be an issue, but...not sure.

Hello, Commander. In light of the recent weeb incursions, this council of nations has convened to approve the activation of the WEEB-COM Project. You have been chosen to lead this initiative: to oversee our first, and last, line of defense. Your efforts will have considerable influence on this server's future. We urge you to keep that in mind as you proceed. Good luck, Commander.
