  2. Hey! Thanks for applying. Just a couple questions: 1. Vaurca have three Hives which all play an important role in the species. Do you feel attached to one of them in particular, or think that one is better written? Are any of the Hives in need of work more? You mentioned the K'lax not grabbing your interest as much, why is that?: 2. You mentioned communication. How well do you think you work in a team?: Looking forward to your responses!
  3. Now that I'm bug overlord we're looking to fill a Vaurca deputy position. In addition to the usual format, please answer these questions: 1. Choose any Vaurca background and write one or two paragraphs of lore that you believe would expand upon it in interesting or meaningful ways. 2. What is your opinion on the current status regarding the Vaurca Hives in relation to their host nations? K'lax with the Hegemony for example. How do you view it developing? Is there anything you would change? Why or why not? 3. Is there an area of Vaurca lore you want to expand on that isn't directly related to the Host nations? 4. What do you think of the current Queenless Vaurca groups? Do you think they're underutilised, fine as is, or overrepresented compared to the main Hives? 5. Where do you see the Vaurca going long-term? 6. What other skills related to lore development do you have, if any?
  4. Ckey: Connorjg1 Position Being Applied For: Vaurca Lore Writer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: I have Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've worked on the Vaurca team for two years now and have contributed extensively both to Vaurca lore and to lore team group projects in that time. Additionally I have PR'd and arranged the development of several Vaurca related projects. Examples of Past Work: Vaurca Biology https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Vaurca_Biology Significant portions of Virtual Reality https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Virtual_Reality Caprice https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Caprice Tret https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Tret Diluzi https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Diulszi Hives Renaissance https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Hives_Renaissance Tret Orbital Neutron Manufactory Canon Application https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/17154-minor-suggestion-tret-orbital-neutron-manufactory/#comment-157048 Biesel Security Services Bureau https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Biesellite_Security_and_Law Much more on the Vaurca pages Additional questions: 1. A particular section of Vaurca Lore that you think should be expanded upon, alongside your reasons for it; or what you think should be removed, and expand your reasons for that too. A section of lore I believe should be expanded upon is cross-species interactions. Vaurca are so tied into other species that I believe it'd be worthwhile to really get some unique developments out of them which really highlight this. Stuff like the existing syncretic Vaurca/Unathi religions are a good example of this that I'd like to really elaborate on, the Ssup’vihtal from Si'akh being perhaps one of the most interesting integrations, as well as the synthetics on and brought into Caprice. 2. Do you have a long-term vision for what direction you want to take Vaurca? This is a difficult question since the current future of Aurora's lore as a whole is so up in the air. In the long term, I believe it'd be interesting to explore Vaurca, especially the Court of Queens, gaining more independence but still seeking to use the lessons they've learned of integrating other species rather than retreating to the isolationism that they may have in the past. 3. Is there anything regarding Vaurca lore that you'd really like to remove or heavily rework, but it's so ingrained in the lore to the point where it'd be challenging to do in a way that's satisfactory? The Lii'dra invasion. It's clear it was written for a different era of the server, and we've toyed with retconning and reworking certain elements on and off for years. Unfortunately it's such a critical and integrated event that to rework it in a way which is satisfactory is a monumental undertaking across teams. For example we can't change the timeframe that it occurred in, and despite being a Vaurca event, the overwhelming majority of the focus is on solely Elyra rather than the Spur at whole, which fit for an era where Elyra was being giving somewhat of a focal point but it's less needed now. We've got the outline of a plan regarding what to do with it, but it still needs to be ironed out to really take shape. 4. What do you think are your strongest and weakest attributes in terms of working on a team, and why? I believe my strongest attribute is being able to reach out and get a conversation started. Vaurca lore is so tied up with other species that it's important to be able to talk to the people on those teams and get to the point where the both of you can put ideas down on paper. My weakest attribute is probably getting caught up in the small details. When working on larger projects, I can sometimes get bogged down on something small and agonise over it to the detriment of the rest of the work. 5. Vaurca writer is a position that comes with two deputy writers under them on the team. It is the writer's job to manage their team, in addition to their duties of moderating the WL. Given that, what skills do you have that you think will assist you in this? On the opposite end, what do you believe is your weakest link regarding management and moderation? I believe I've got strong interpersonal skills regarding communicating with other members of the team and keeping everyone on track. I've helped coordinate several Vaurca projects in the past and ensured they were done on time. I believe my weakest link regarding moderation is just being willing to approach someone OOC upfront. I've hesitated in the past to talk to someone about behaviour that needs correcting when it would have been easier to resolve it early. Over the years I've had time to practise this, and I believe I'm getting better at it.

  8. Article #10 of the Libération, Révolution et Évolution Arc End of the Libération, Révolution et Évolution Arc Ve'katak Phalanx Announces Participation In Armed Forces Training Exercises! Earlier today Secretary Trasen met with Representative Ta'Akaix'Nalgeretta of the Zo'ra Hive to announce the commencement of wargames with the Vaurcesian Private Millitary Company the "Ve'katak Phalanx" and its associated partners. This is the latest in a series of training exercises started early last month between the Tau Ceti Armed Forces and the People's Republic of Adhomai. Throughout the announcement, which was broadcast from the grandiose meeting halls of Caprice's New Sedantis, Secretary Trasen again stressed the importance of the military alliance between the Zo'ra Hive and the Court of Queens with the Republic. He went on to reiterate the Vaurca importance to the Republic's defence and expressed his strong belief regarding the positive effect such exercises will have on all involved. Following Secretary Transen's announcement, he was then invited to tour the Zo'ra Hive fortress of Dis. Situated not far from the Caprice capital of New Sedantis, Dis hosts the Tau Ceti embassy on the planet and has a critical role to play in Tau Ceti's defense, acting not only as the Hive's military coordination centre but as the storage facility for the ever-important Warforms when not deployed alongside the Armed Forces. The Secretary closed by expressing how pleased he was with the state of the fortress despite the ongoing Phoron crisis and his desire for the Warforms to be able to get more experience now the Republic has a mightier Armed Forces with which to support them. After the tour had concluded spokespeople for the Ve'katak Phalanx and the Biesel Department of Defence released further details regarding the joint exercises. The wargames will take place staggered with the ongoing exercises by the Grand People's Army, with forces expected to rotate between them, and will occur primarily around and within the newly formed defensive fortress, the Zoleth line. Reportedly the primary focus of the exercises is set to be vessel or station boarding and close-quarters combat in urban, jungle, and barren environments. The titular Zo'ra Queen Zoleth herself is to command the Vaurca forces during the exercises. A statement released by her office has expressed her "strongest hopes" regarding the performance of the Tau Ceti Armed Forces and her wishes for "this to be the start of a profound and fearsome military relationship between all involved." All ongoing exercises are set to conclude in three months time. Vaurca Warriors of the K'lax and C'thur Hives are said to be participating in the exercises, but the Hives have not yet responded to a request for comment. Veni. Vidi. Vici. Date: 02/09/2465
