  1. Article #10 of the Libération, Révolution et Évolution Arc End of the Libération, Révolution et Évolution Arc Ve'katak Phalanx Announces Participation In Armed Forces Training Exercises! Earlier today Secretary Trasen met with Representative Ta'Akaix'Nalgeretta of the Zo'ra Hive to announce the commencement of wargames with the Vaurcesian Private Millitary Company the "Ve'katak Phalanx" and its associated partners. This is the latest in a series of training exercises started early last month between the Tau Ceti Armed Forces and the People's Republic of Adhomai. Throughout the announcement, which was broadcast from the grandiose meeting halls of Caprice's New Sedantis, Secretary Trasen again stressed the importance of the military alliance between the Zo'ra Hive and the Court of Queens with the Republic. He went on to reiterate the Vaurca importance to the Republic's defence and expressed his strong belief regarding the positive effect such exercises will have on all involved. Following Secretary Transen's announcement, he was then invited to tour the Zo'ra Hive fortress of Dis. Situated not far from the Caprice capital of New Sedantis, Dis hosts the Tau Ceti embassy on the planet and has a critical role to play in Tau Ceti's defense, acting not only as the Hive's military coordination centre but as the storage facility for the ever-important Warforms when not deployed alongside the Armed Forces. The Secretary closed by expressing how pleased he was with the state of the fortress despite the ongoing Phoron crisis and his desire for the Warforms to be able to get more experience now the Republic has a mightier Armed Forces with which to support them. After the tour had concluded spokespeople for the Ve'katak Phalanx and the Biesel Department of Defence released further details regarding the joint exercises. The wargames will take place staggered with the ongoing exercises by the Grand People's Army, with forces expected to rotate between them, and will occur primarily around and within the newly formed defensive fortress, the Zoleth line. Reportedly the primary focus of the exercises is set to be vessel or station boarding and close-quarters combat in urban, jungle, and barren environments. The titular Zo'ra Queen Zoleth herself is to command the Vaurca forces during the exercises. A statement released by her office has expressed her "strongest hopes" regarding the performance of the Tau Ceti Armed Forces and her wishes for "this to be the start of a profound and fearsome military relationship between all involved." All ongoing exercises are set to conclude in three months time. Vaurca Warriors of the K'lax and C'thur Hives are said to be participating in the exercises, but the Hives have not yet responded to a request for comment. Veni. Vidi. Vici. Date: 02/09/2465
  2. Court of Queens unveils new Virtual Reality training program Following the unveiling of a new training program for Ve'katak Phalanx recruits early last month, the Court of Queen's recently founded private military company made a surprise announcement today that has sent shockwaves through much of the Republic's academic community. This announcement regarding the unveiling of what the Court is referring to as the 'fully immersive neural simulation training environment' stipulates that the Hives worked together to create a new Virtual Reality training technology for use by those training in the Veka'tak Phalanx. The Virtual Reality technology of the Vaurca is reported as being highly advanced and has been the subject of intense study since their arrival in the Spur; however, prominent experts throughout Biesel's scientific community have criticized the Hives in the past for their apparent unwillingness to assist in the advancement of the technology. Among the most vocal critics was NanoTrasen University Professor of Biomechanics Dr. Song Xianliang, who made the news after accusing the Zo'ra Hive late last year of intentionally obstructing his research on the topic. Dr. Song has since withdrawn the criticism after Zo'ra researchers published a study in the Biesel Journal of Medical Science elaborating on the difficulties of adapting the Vaurca technology for human biology, but some of his colleagues continued to express skepticism. The unveiling of this reportedly cutting-edge training technology this morning is seen by many as the largest step the Vaurca have taken in sharing this technology with humanity. When questioned regarding why the technology was only being introduced to Ve'katak Phalanx recruits, Court Spokesperson Ta'Akaix'Yil Zo'ra who made the announcement, noted that "whilst this is a truly exciting day for the Hives, there are still monumental technological hurdles that stand in the way of adapting true Vaurcae Virtual Reality technology for wider use in the Spur. This Neural Simulation equipment has for the first time in history, been specifically adapted to work with non-Vaurcesian physiology. The closely monitored environment of the Phalanx allows us to see how the other sapiens of the Spur adapt to the latest developments and measure the effectiveness of the technology in a real workplace environment, whilst ensuring it is safe and effective for the Soldiers training for carrying out complex military operations." While the announcement of this technology has been met with widespread enthusiasm and excitement in academic circles, Vaurca critics across the Republic have expressed concerns about the implications of the technology, either in demonstrations or through the extranet, with some critics positing it as a tool for brainwashing, with one prominent theory accusing the Hives of planning to use the new developments as a way to instill artificial loyalty gaining some online traction. It is unclear at this stage exactly what the "Immersive Neural Simulation Training Environment" will entail; however, the Hive has announced that the roll-out of the technology has already begun and further details regarding its usage will be released later in the month.
  3. Court of Queens announces plans to introduce new Ve'katak Phalanx training program Earlier today, representatives for High Queen Vaur and Queen Zoleth of the Zo'ra Hive announced that the Court of Queens, the largest Vaurca political body in the Spur, will unveil a new training program for non-Vaurca who join the Ve'katak Phalanx. This plan will reportedly be focused on ensuring that the Phalanx remains a quote "attractive option for sapients looking for a highly demanding but rewarding work environment in the fields of Private Millitary Contracting and Security." The Ve'katak Phalanx, also referred to as the "Alliance Phalanx," is a private military company unveiled by the Court and the Private Military Contracting Group three months ago and is currently composed mostly of Vaurca Warriors from across the Spur. With this new announcement, however, the Phalanx is expected to broaden its horizons towards the Spur's other species. A statement released by the Court on their extranet site shortly after the announcement reveals the plan in broad steps, including mentions of the introduction of subsidized healthcare from Vaurca Biotechnicians for Phalanx members, a generous pay package, a "cybernetically-enriched experience to ensure the best performance from all security assets," and garnering the public attention of some researchers from NanoTrasen University, a mention of a new court-developed "fully immersive neural simulation training environment." Additionally, the statement attempts to address concerns raised by the public, with fears of Vaurca militarization having seen the Phalanx subject to small-scale demonstrations across Biesel since its January announcement. The largest of these protests has taken place in New Marfa, with Tau Ceti Times polling showing the majority Elyran population as strongly against the continuation of the Ve'katak Phalanx. A Representative for the Court of Queens who was contacted by the Tau Ceti Times for comment had this to say: We will bring you further details when they are announced.

  5. Rusting is a good player who is passionate about Aurora lore and lore writing. They have my support for this application, and I agree with what they have planned. Having said that, I have to ask you a question about whether you have any plans for the how the K'lax/Hegemony relationship? There has been talk of giving their relationship some developmental love for a while, and I'm interested to hear how you would or would like to approach that element of the Hegemony.

  9. Reporting Personnel: Ta'Akaix'Arch'avaron Zo'ra Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Consular Officer Game ID: cmH-bdqu Personnel Involved: Zack Radetzsky, Executive Officer - Offender Quisuu Su-Ruusi, Head of Security - Offender The Watchmen Who Never Rest - Witness Yumemi - Witness IRU-Eleanor - Witness Secondary Witnesses: N/A Time of Incident: 12:00 Real Time: 0000GMT 3/06/2 Location of Incident: Deck 3 café Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [X] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [X] - Misconduct [X] - Other: Exceeding Official Powers, Threat of Murder or Serious Injury Overview of the Incident: This incident began within 15 minutes of my having come up from the living deck and beginning my service as a Consular Officer to the Queens and the Republic. The crew for the shift in question numbered in the single digits, and they had all gathered at the deck 3 café. After getting my affairs in order at the office, I made my way over to the café to join in with the social activities and immediately noticed that the Dionae Warden was staring and generally looking at me with hostility. I attributed this to them being a member of the "Pests of Titan Prime," a Dionae group that has only recently resumed more cordial relations with the Zo'ra Hive after a period of conflict. Due to their circumstances, I ignored the hostility at first. Despite this, however, after I obtained myself a drink, the Executive Officer mentioned that they had been talking about the Vaurca Hiveship Titan Prime. I inquired about the nature of the conversation, and they shrugged it off; but during this, the Warden made a snide remark towards me. A while of idle conversation and chatter later, the Dionae began asking me somewhat snide but earnest questions regarding the Titan Prime situation and my role aboard, which I answered truthfully but did tell them they could drop the pretence. Eventually, however, this escalated into a verbal disagreement between the extremely agitated Warden and myself, where I attempted to correct misconceptions they had been spreading regarding the incident. The Warden stood up and approached me at this point. Despite the movement, the disagreement was progressing in a more productive direction, and the Warden took no violent action. I had hoped to convince them of shared fault regarding the historic incident aboard the Titan Prime when the Executive Officer, standing behind the café bar, drew a ballistic firearm unprompted and pointed it at myself and the Warden, threatening to "blind us both" if we "intended to murder each other." I demanded that he return the firearm to its holster, becoming irritated by this unprompted intrusion and, as I was unaware that the ballistic firearm was non-lethal, even somewhat concerned for my life (though it was still loaded with flash-rounds, which the XO later admitted he chose because he knew it would maim Vaurca and Dionae). He refused. At this point, my attention had mostly shifted to the Executive Officer as the more pressing issue, holding myself and the Warden at gunpoint and demanding the de-escalation of a threat that didn't exist to begin with. I, the Chief Medical Officer, and the Investigator all asked the Executive Officer to put his gun away, but he refused again, appearing more likely to open fire with each passing moment. During this entire incident, the Head of Security Quisuu was present, but instead of intervening with the Executive Officer turned armed gunman, they decided the only action they would take would be to move out of the firing line to apparently give the Executive Officer a clearer shot at us and stand completely silent. The Head of Security only said something when asked by the CMO to "please say something" after several awkward minutes of silence and following prompting by the Investigator, to which they asked softly if the Executive Officer could "not escalate the situation" and then resumed silence. The argument and standoff were only broken up when IRU-Eleanor stepped forward and, due to the Head of Security's lack of action, took it upon themselves to intervene and prevent an escalating conflict. After this, the Executive Officer holstered the firearm and made a number of contradictory remarks about how they "picked the rounds intentionally as they would only harm Dionae and Vaurca" and then how they supposedly never had any real intention to use it. The investigator left when the Warden did, and it was clear they believed the situation had been resolved remarkably poorly. I expressed that I would be filing an incident report regarding being held at gunpoint and the poor performance of the Head of Security. The Executive Officer "formally asked" I leave the Head of Security out of the incident report however I informed them I would be including them. Submitted Evidence: Firearm Drawn: Firearm continued: Discussion after firearm: Unedited transcript: Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [Y] - Yes [ ] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Unfortunately the Horizon's Head's of Staff were the primary cause of the incident. Actions taken: Executive Officer reported to me that they had discussed the issue with the Head of Security and understood that I was going to file a report with the SCC. Additional Notes: N/A
  10. Hi, thanks for applying! This application looks good, and it seems like you have a good grasp on the species, however, we're hoping you can expand the background a bit more. Try to flesh out that second paragraph if you can. It can be challenging to write a fully fleshed out Vaurca background given the nature of the species. Some things we look for that I would consider talking about in it are how Yuta views the C'thur and Zo'ra, what Yuta feels about the Hegemony and humanity and how old Yuta is and how that might shape their views and early life (were they born aboard the Hiveship for example?)

  14. The Court of Queens goes public with new Vaurca Private Military Company Earlier today, High Queen Vaur of the Zo'ra Hive announced that the Court of Queens, the Vaurca representative body in the Spur, would be publicizing a new private military and security company. According to Zo'rane representatives, the new group known as the "Ve'katak" or "Alliance" Phalanx was founded late in 2464 and will be made up of a percentage of primarily Warrior Vaurca from the three Hives in the Spur (Zo'ra, K'lax, and C'thur). It will reportedly have a mandate to "[protect the] Court when endangered by threats, external or internal." A Private Military Contracting Group spokeswoman welcomed the announcement and revealed that the two parties had been in negotiations behind the scenes, with the final agreement being that the Court of Queens will provide the services of the Ve'katak Phalanx to PMCG purchasers when not deployed by the Court's order. While the Private Military Contracting Group expressed support, many others in the Spur were divided, with some fearing that this is a precursor to further Vaurca militarization and others hypothesizing that it will reduce the Zo'ra Hives' contributions to the Tau Ceti Foreign Legion. The izweski Hegemony did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and the Nralakk Federation posted a statement on ViV-ID reinforcing that the C'thur Hive was free to engage in such activities outside of the Federation's territories. In an effort to quell any fears, Zo'ra Representative Ta'Akaix'Yolt'Nenra Zo'ra released a statement following the announcement. How this new venture will play out remains to be seen.

  16. What Is ‘Wyvenet’ and How to Report It Following the tense situation in Flagsdale, authorities of Mendell City have advised about a highly illegal communication protocol within Vaurcae, commonly known as ‘Wyvenet.’ ‘Wyvenet’, named after its developer, Ka’Akaix’Wyve Zo’ra, is an alternative channel for bandless Vaurcae (dubbed ‘Queenless’) to communicate without official supervision. At the time being, the protocol has not been cracked. “This is a major threat to Mendell City and a stain on our relationship with the Zo’ra Hive,” said Mendell City Police Deputy Michael Gomez. “It cannot continue.” As ‘Wyvenet’ does not use Bluespace components, the relays are located across Mendell City and other regions of Biesel. While most are kept inside Vaurca buildings, some hide in plain sight, disguised as holovision antennae. The ‘Wyvenet’ can also be detected by their radio frequency. Though unintelligible, it has a trademark pattern, referred to as ‘spiral’ by experts in telecommunications. Republic of Biesel citizens are encouraged to report ‘Wyvenet’ stations and suspected activity to their police department. Although ‘Wyvenet’ is only known to operate inside Biesel, authorities suspect ‘Wyvenet’ radios have been smuggled to other planets as part of the cargo orders of different spaceships.
  17. Main avenues close for Zo’ra Hive’s military parade Today, large crowds of Zo’rane Vaurcae gather in Mendell City to celebrate “Hive War Victory Day,” a non-autochthonous holiday in honor of the historic victory over the Lii’dra during the “Great Hive War,” and the conclusion of the conflict thirty-thousand years ago today. The Biesellite version of the parade was established in 2459 when Zo’rane Workers and Warriors took to the streets of Flagsdale in a boisterous celebration of the occasion. The event remained local to District 9 until 2461 when a contingent of Vaurcae arrived at Freedom Plaza in Zhèngfǔ District. This year, the event has taken a different tone. In recognition of the anniversary, the Zo’ra Queens have arranged a major military parade to be televised. The broadcast, prepared in the early morning hours, has hired human commentators to better inform the spectators about the historical significance of the “Great Hive War.” Currently, the Flagsdale contingent—led by High Queen Vaur—occupies five primary lanes of the Interdistrict Highway. While circulation is still possible, long traffic is to be expected. The Mendell City Bugle anticipates the downtime to last for the remainder of the day in Districts 1 through 9. Another contingent, arriving from New Sedantis—led by Queen Zoleth—, is currently positioned in District 1. Major arterials from Mendell City’s downtown, such as Lulworth Avenue and Trasen Memorial Road, are completely occupied by the Zo’ra Hive. Spectators can join and observe the parade starting in Minell Street, where the proper preparations have been made for the audience. Though there is currently a second parade in Caprice, the event is not as flamboyant as the one in Mendell City. In Biesel, Zo’rane senior Warriors are sporting the best of the Hive’s equipment while preparing to recreate their traditional formations. In addition, various Warforms from the storage facility “Dis” are expected to march alongside the parade in District 1. Despite the current political tensions regarding the phoron shortage, the Zo’rane parade has all the required permits requested by the Mendell City Police and is expected to remain a peaceful, family-friendly event.
  18. What does Killarun Hazmrakri think of the PRA and DPRA now?: The People's Republic of Adhomai abandoned Killarun and her family despite lofty promises and attempts to break-down traditional structures which have existed for thousands of years. The Democratic People's Republic are extremist terrorists who use a broken system, letting corrupt and foolish commoners guide them instead of a true authority. Out of the royalists' schools of thought, which one does she align herself with?: Killarun considers herself a conservative royalist, believing that whilst the old nobility had failures and abuses, a wise and educated central figure such as the Queen, kept in check-through a constitution is the perfect system to guide the Tajara commoners. Systems that integrate commoners into leading positions are too slow and full of people who wish for nothing but to serve themselves.
  19. BYOND Key: connorjg1 Character Names: Ta'Akaix'Nangeren C'thur Za'Akaix'Rala K'lax Alderi Staberinde A ton of other Vaurca who I play occasionally Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Kochiba as called on the wiki. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: Tajara are a species whose entire history is embroiled in war with no clear cut heros or villians, not to mention the interesting societal issues present throughout all three of the major factions. I believe it would be extremely interesting to play a character who interacts with these ideas. They are also extremely different to humans and interactions between these two races often lead to interesting conflict that I would be interested in exploring. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara society has only recently been technologically accelerated. How your Tajara character views this and the strife that could be caused by this is extremely different to anything you could accomplish with a human character. Not to mention it would not be a stretch to say the big events (The civil wars) have completely defined their current society and the scars of which are something that are still extremely fresh in almost all Tajara characters minds. There is not really a human equivalent for this. Character Name: Killarun Hazmrakri Please provide a short backstory for this character: Killarun Hazmrakri was born in a small farming village a distance from Olska to Hharar parents. Due to the small size of the satellite hamlet, she was required to help her parents with chores from an extremely young age and had very little time to herself, although her mother did try and teach her what literacy and medicinal skills she had. The People's Republic farming modernisation programme had yet to reach them and since the revolution that had claimed the life of their great-grandfather a levy with their local noble, they had seen little change in conditions outside of the name of who they were paying tithe to. This frustration and feeling of being forgotten was a constant point of contention amongst her parents, both of whom had different perspectives on whether their hard work would pay off. Killarun was still young when the second revolution began. When the New Kingdom forces arrived following the surrender of Olska, her father eagerly joined the Imperial Adhomian Army against the wishes of the young Tajara's mother, who pleaded with him to remain. With her father's hasty departure, the two of them were forced to take up more duties around the village, Killarun even taking a surprise opportunity to learn with the village cobbler for extra knuckles. It was not to last, however. Several years later, news arrived in the village that Killarun's father was MIA and her mother, who had recently been struggling with sickness, only got worse. She cursed him for leaving to fight, a sentiment which Killarun shared. When herbal medicines administered by herself and the village elder failed, she turned to praying to Marryam and outside help, using all the money she had saved to bring in a proper doctor. Her mother was discovered to have a rare genetic disorder that he couldn't treat. She died peacefully six months later. Killarun, now on her own, began working even harder and had become a full-time cobbler. The New Kingdom promised great things, and whilst she was wary of what they could provide, she believed a strong figure of royalty that was not susceptible to the abuses of the People's Republic, which had failed to deliver for them, to be the only way forward. However, much to the shock of Killarun, she fell ill not unlike her mother and discovered in horror she had inherited the same genetic disorder. Knowing that it would be fatal without treatment, she was forced to turn instead to make the arduous and expensive journey to the capital of the New Kingdom Kaltir hoping to employ her skills as a cobbler however they too were unable to treat the Tajara and her money most of which had been spent on temporary accommodation was rapidly fading. After hearing talk of others doing the same she was pushed into the only option she could see left, which was to leave Adhomai altogether, using a New Kingdom Corporate recruitment office within the capital. This would end in her obtaining a job as a bartender aboard the SCCV Horizon under NanoTrasen which would also provide a prescription for her condition in exchange for an extremely predatory contract. The new environment is completely different to any she has ever seen before. Whilst lacking in credits, she is forced to adapt to a vessel with equipment more advanced than even the industrial technology she briefly saw within the Kaltir and is quickly forced to come to terms with working alongside aliens she had never even heard of before, nevermind seen. Not only this, but she must persevere, not just working alongside Tajara of the PRA, which she feels abandoned them originally despite all their talk and the extremist DPRA, she is now stuck in a position where she must adapt quickly. What do you like about this character? I like the idea of exploring a character who comes from somewhere antiquated and is forced to rapidly adapt to a changing environment which she's been thrust into in order to survive. I don't see many rural characters and think it'd be interesting to explore. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Reasonably decent I'd hope. Notes: N/A
