  1. Main avenues close for Zo’ra Hive’s military parade Today, large crowds of Zo’rane Vaurcae gather in Mendell City to celebrate “Hive War Victory Day,” a non-autochthonous holiday in honor of the historic victory over the Lii’dra during the “Great Hive War,” and the conclusion of the conflict thirty-thousand years ago today. The Biesellite version of the parade was established in 2459 when Zo’rane Workers and Warriors took to the streets of Flagsdale in a boisterous celebration of the occasion. The event remained local to District 9 until 2461 when a contingent of Vaurcae arrived at Freedom Plaza in Zhèngfǔ District. This year, the event has taken a different tone. In recognition of the anniversary, the Zo’ra Queens have arranged a major military parade to be televised. The broadcast, prepared in the early morning hours, has hired human commentators to better inform the spectators about the historical significance of the “Great Hive War.” Currently, the Flagsdale contingent—led by High Queen Vaur—occupies five primary lanes of the Interdistrict Highway. While circulation is still possible, long traffic is to be expected. The Mendell City Bugle anticipates the downtime to last for the remainder of the day in Districts 1 through 9. Another contingent, arriving from New Sedantis—led by Queen Zoleth—, is currently positioned in District 1. Major arterials from Mendell City’s downtown, such as Lulworth Avenue and Trasen Memorial Road, are completely occupied by the Zo’ra Hive. Spectators can join and observe the parade starting in Minell Street, where the proper preparations have been made for the audience. Though there is currently a second parade in Caprice, the event is not as flamboyant as the one in Mendell City. In Biesel, Zo’rane senior Warriors are sporting the best of the Hive’s equipment while preparing to recreate their traditional formations. In addition, various Warforms from the storage facility “Dis” are expected to march alongside the parade in District 1. Despite the current political tensions regarding the phoron shortage, the Zo’rane parade has all the required permits requested by the Mendell City Police and is expected to remain a peaceful, family-friendly event.
  2. What does Killarun Hazmrakri think of the PRA and DPRA now?: The People's Republic of Adhomai abandoned Killarun and her family despite lofty promises and attempts to break-down traditional structures which have existed for thousands of years. The Democratic People's Republic are extremist terrorists who use a broken system, letting corrupt and foolish commoners guide them instead of a true authority. Out of the royalists' schools of thought, which one does she align herself with?: Killarun considers herself a conservative royalist, believing that whilst the old nobility had failures and abuses, a wise and educated central figure such as the Queen, kept in check-through a constitution is the perfect system to guide the Tajara commoners. Systems that integrate commoners into leading positions are too slow and full of people who wish for nothing but to serve themselves.
  3. BYOND Key: connorjg1 Character Names: Ta'Akaix'Nangeren C'thur Za'Akaix'Rala K'lax Alderi Staberinde A ton of other Vaurca who I play occasionally Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Kochiba as called on the wiki. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: Tajara are a species whose entire history is embroiled in war with no clear cut heros or villians, not to mention the interesting societal issues present throughout all three of the major factions. I believe it would be extremely interesting to play a character who interacts with these ideas. They are also extremely different to humans and interactions between these two races often lead to interesting conflict that I would be interested in exploring. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara society has only recently been technologically accelerated. How your Tajara character views this and the strife that could be caused by this is extremely different to anything you could accomplish with a human character. Not to mention it would not be a stretch to say the big events (The civil wars) have completely defined their current society and the scars of which are something that are still extremely fresh in almost all Tajara characters minds. There is not really a human equivalent for this. Character Name: Killarun Hazmrakri Please provide a short backstory for this character: Killarun Hazmrakri was born in a small farming village a distance from Olska to Hharar parents. Due to the small size of the satellite hamlet, she was required to help her parents with chores from an extremely young age and had very little time to herself, although her mother did try and teach her what literacy and medicinal skills she had. The People's Republic farming modernisation programme had yet to reach them and since the revolution that had claimed the life of their great-grandfather a levy with their local noble, they had seen little change in conditions outside of the name of who they were paying tithe to. This frustration and feeling of being forgotten was a constant point of contention amongst her parents, both of whom had different perspectives on whether their hard work would pay off. Killarun was still young when the second revolution began. When the New Kingdom forces arrived following the surrender of Olska, her father eagerly joined the Imperial Adhomian Army against the wishes of the young Tajara's mother, who pleaded with him to remain. With her father's hasty departure, the two of them were forced to take up more duties around the village, Killarun even taking a surprise opportunity to learn with the village cobbler for extra knuckles. It was not to last, however. Several years later, news arrived in the village that Killarun's father was MIA and her mother, who had recently been struggling with sickness, only got worse. She cursed him for leaving to fight, a sentiment which Killarun shared. When herbal medicines administered by herself and the village elder failed, she turned to praying to Marryam and outside help, using all the money she had saved to bring in a proper doctor. Her mother was discovered to have a rare genetic disorder that he couldn't treat. She died peacefully six months later. Killarun, now on her own, began working even harder and had become a full-time cobbler. The New Kingdom promised great things, and whilst she was wary of what they could provide, she believed a strong figure of royalty that was not susceptible to the abuses of the People's Republic, which had failed to deliver for them, to be the only way forward. However, much to the shock of Killarun, she fell ill not unlike her mother and discovered in horror she had inherited the same genetic disorder. Knowing that it would be fatal without treatment, she was forced to turn instead to make the arduous and expensive journey to the capital of the New Kingdom Kaltir hoping to employ her skills as a cobbler however they too were unable to treat the Tajara and her money most of which had been spent on temporary accommodation was rapidly fading. After hearing talk of others doing the same she was pushed into the only option she could see left, which was to leave Adhomai altogether, using a New Kingdom Corporate recruitment office within the capital. This would end in her obtaining a job as a bartender aboard the SCCV Horizon under NanoTrasen which would also provide a prescription for her condition in exchange for an extremely predatory contract. The new environment is completely different to any she has ever seen before. Whilst lacking in credits, she is forced to adapt to a vessel with equipment more advanced than even the industrial technology she briefly saw within the Kaltir and is quickly forced to come to terms with working alongside aliens she had never even heard of before, nevermind seen. Not only this, but she must persevere, not just working alongside Tajara of the PRA, which she feels abandoned them originally despite all their talk and the extremist DPRA, she is now stuck in a position where she must adapt quickly. What do you like about this character? I like the idea of exploring a character who comes from somewhere antiquated and is forced to rapidly adapt to a changing environment which she's been thrust into in order to survive. I don't see many rural characters and think it'd be interesting to explore. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Reasonably decent I'd hope. Notes: N/A

  5. Hi! This is a good application which in my view demonstrates a solid understanding of the lore. I do have a couple questions to ask: How does Kzrr view Hive Zo'ra? Do they accept the K'lax position as vassals or as independent? (Or are they indifferent?): Now that they Kzrr have faced the culture-shock of coming into the real-world how do they see the Hegemony? Do they think K'lax have a good position in the Spur?: I look forward to seeing your response. There is no wrong answers!
  6. Tupii's Warriors across the Spur! A little over seven months ago, Queen Tupii—the latest K'lax Queen to be inaugurated—made the surprising announcement that she would reinvigorate her brood's Warrior population by resurrecting veterans from as far back as the Great Hive War, which happened over thirty-thousand years ago. More coverage on the subject can be read here. Most of these old-timers have spent the past few millennia (whew!) inside Virtual Reality. In many cases, they would only interact with each other, or with Vaurcae who lived closer to their time in this universe. This generational gap surely is greater than when you sit down with young children or old folks. However, Vaurcae (even if long deceased) are known for keeping up with the news. And when Queen Tupii was announced, the Mother K’lax brood received her warmly. Still, despite their acceptance, veterans had a challenge to face: adapt to the ways of the Spur. With a new wave of Warriors ready to join the Izweski Hegemony Navy ranks, the Caprice Sun approached some of the resleeved Warriors working not only in Unathi space but also as far as Tau Ceti. The in-depth series of interviews are available as a video. With probably the longest resume you’ve ever seen, these Warriors are eager to get back into action after so long. New waves of Hive War veterans are expected to arrive in the private security sector, where we’re certain they’ll excel. For more information on why Vaurcae make great security guards, read Top 10 Reasons Why We Love Our Vaurcae Cops.
  7. 1. If you had free reign to do anything in lore, hypothetically, what would you wish to pursue?: If I had complete control over the server, I would likely shift it away from a primarily corporate-dominated setting, but it would take some serious thought to figure out how to do so while still having a server that was fun to play on and easy to make characters in. If it was centered around Vaurca, I have to echo what I said in my previous application (such as expansion of interspecies relationships and expansion of the Vaurca military). 2. The duties and obligations of a CCIAA can sometimes clash with Lore. Do you think you'll be able to uphold both your positions should you become a Deputy Vaurca Lore Writer?: I'm confident I will. In the event I discovered I was incapable of doing so I'd be more than willing to retire one position. 3. You've mentioned plans for Lii'dra during your previous application. Do you still plan to pursue these?: I do. Both myself and Desven concur that the Lii'dra invasions of both Elyra and Tau Ceti could be adjusted to be better than they are currently. Lii'dra are an interesting piece of lore and act as a "villain" faction of the setting, but that doesn't mean they should go about their goals in a way that looks ridiculous or silly. (An example being the Lii'dra Queen that was captured because she was left practically undefended on a planet). 4. Do you mind writing an additional piece of lore regarding the above? You mentioned expanding on what makes a 'Warrior a Warrior': My first idea was to make a general Vaurca military page to expand on concepts such as the Prime Means, general warrior culture, waforms, and details like warriors within the respective host militaries. I've written a bit about Zo'ra in the TCFL already, which I've included below. (I'd also like to expand on K'lax in the hegemony and C'thur in the Quakla, although C'thur is in a better place lore wise in that respect). Warriors make up a significant portion of the Vaurca on station and since they're an entire subspecies which is very ingrained into Vaurca culture, I feel it's important they get some more "general" lore representation then just what is on the brood pages.
  8. Ckey/BYOND Username: Connorjg1 Position Being Applied For: Vaurca Deputy Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: Yep. Past Experiences/Knowledge: Worked on Vaurca lore canon-applications in the past, wrote most of the Biesel Security Services Bureau and contributed significantly to the Hives Renaissance page. Examples of Past Work: Biesel Security Services Bureau https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Biesellite_Security_and_Law Hives Renaissance https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Hives_Renaissance Neutron-forge canon app https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/17154-minor-suggestion-tret-orbital-neutron-manufactory/#comment-157048 1: What would you like to see explored in Vaurca lore?: Just generally, I would like to see a further exploration of Vaurca relations with the Spur, virtual-reality and some of the unique species traits that come with that, as well as changes to the Lii'dra invasion of Elyra and Tau Ceti to create an invasion that is both compelling and more believable. 2: Please provide a sample of a brand new Vaurca wiki page. The article's title and the starting paragraph will suffice: New Sedantis
  9. My experiences with Calom in the rounds I've played has been nothing but positive and I'm sure they'll do an excellent job as HOS. +1
  10. Hey! 1: Outside of what you've mentioned, do you have anything planned for Vaurca in the long term? Arcs, general lore additions, etc: A few ideas come to mind, such as expanding on some of the broods (Tupii and Vytel come to mind right away, Vytel in particular leaning heavily on the "Prime Means" which is entirely undetailed on the wiki), expanding the cities/planets where Vaurca live, such as Tret and an expansion on the role both K'lax and C'thur played during the Hive Renaissance that got them to their current political situation. Really, Vaurca are in a position where a lot can be done with them. 2: How do you feel about Vaurca lore in terms of how it's tied to other species? Vaurca are in a similar position to Diona in that outside of a few areas you'll have to work closely with the other teams at times? I think that Vaurca could really capitalise and expand on the relationships they have with other species considering how tied together they are, which is an element of the lore that, in my view, is a positive. It's really interesting to see how this species integrates with the nations of the spur that they're with and how it expands their flavour whilst matching the themes of the parent with the K'lax for example, having integrated into the Hegemony as a vassal, whilst C'thur has a more symbiotic relationship with the Federation. 3: How do you feel about working on non-Vaurca lore as part of the team? Sometimes as a team we need to work on something like Biesel or megacorp lore, which doesn't necessarily include writing about how our species fit into it: This is perfectly acceptable and comes with any project that is a team effort, I feel.
  11. Ckey: Connorjg1 Position Being Applied For: Vaurca Lore Writer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: I have Past Experiences/Knowledge: Worked on Vaurca lore canon-applications in the past, wrote most of the Biesel Security Services Bureau and contributed significantly to the Hives Renaissance page. I also submitted fixes to update the main Vaurca page. On the less writing-related side, I've also worked on a handful of Vaurca PRs, including the introduction of the virtual reality projector. Examples of Past Work: Biesel Security Services Bureau https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Biesellite_Security_and_Law Hives Renaissance https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Hives_Renaissance Neutron-forge canon app https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/17154-minor-suggestion-tret-orbital-neutron-manufactory/#comment-157048 Additional questions: What part of Vaurca lore do you enjoy the most?: To me, I've always believed Vaurca virtual reality is the most "enjoyable" aspect of the lore and was the one thing besides the very interesting flavour brought by the broods that really hooked me into applying to begin with. Each Vaurca can have such varied and unique experiences in the virtual realms relative to their Hive that it really is a species capstone in my eyes. Sadly, Vaurca virtual reality, despite being so critical to what it means to be one, gets very little representation on the server, which is something I would like to remedy. What part of Vaurca lore do you enjoy the least? How do you plan to remedy this?: Vaurca lore can, in my opinion, have a cohesion problem across the wiki, which is something myself and some other Vaurca players have noticed. For example, one page will say something which is inaccurate with the page beside it, which is then inconsistent with the main page due to many writers stacking lore atop one another over a long period of time. In my eyes, the fix is simply to go through and polish it all up with a big clean, ensuring the wiki pages are up to date with the information a prospective applicant or species player could want and avoiding needless confusion caused by things like one page mentioning K'lax as a vassal and another contradicting it. This is significant in my opinion because a wiki that contradicts itself can turn people off playing that species because they become confused about what is and is not accepted lore, making it appear more complicated than it is. Do you have any plans for any retcons to occur? Do you believe they’ll be kept minor or perhaps major retcons may be needed?: I have to concur with Desven that the Lii'dra invasion of Tau Ceti needs tweaking, if not outright removal. Information about it is sparse on the wiki, with the majority of it being contained in articles buried deep in the forum to the point where some people don't even know it happened. I believe it would be a good idea to move it to a wiki page and make any needed retcons or changes in the process, basically building the details of the event from the ground up. If you were able to change anything about lore, without any hinderance, what would it be?: There are some outstanding issues with Vaurca lore currently, in my view, such as interspecies relations being underutilised, Lii'dra remaining untouched despite being so essential to Elyra etcetera. Having given both these and some other pieces of Vaurca lore some serious thought, I've come up with a broad roadmap of how I believe these could be tackled: First I'd like to clean up the Vaurca wiki, ensuring the pages are internally consistent before adding some information on how the Phoron crisis is affecting Vaurca the most Phoron dependant species in the Spur. After that, move onto expanding interspecies relations, mainly the K'lax with the Hegemony and Zo'ra with Biesel to add some much needed depth in the relationships which can be lacking outside of C'thur. Finally, in the mid-term, an expansion of Lii'dra with that much needed invasion update accompanied by a general Vaurca military page expanding on the lore of what makes a warrior a warrior.
  12. I have to agree that AI should be able to raise the alert level. It's more of a QOL thing then anything else.
  13. I'd be happy to and would in fact find the date being pushed back preferable. The date was picked because it's the current date the forge was opened in the brief article about it so I was just keeping it consistent with that. If the lore-team is happy to edit the article etcetera, then a project start date of 2459 with a conclusion of 2461 sounds good.
  14. Interacted a lot with Claudia as my Ta Nangeren and have nothing but praise. I trust they have a solid understanding of skrell lore and look forward to seeing their skrell aboard. Big ol +1
  15. Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Small Species: Vaurca Short Description: This changes and expands upon the existing Tret K'lax Neutron forge to provide it with some lore. A K'lax Forge that could make materials by re-arranging the molecular structure of objects seems like a piece of lore that is worth expanding upon. How will this be reflected on-station?: Both a location to be talked about and somewhere a Vaurca or Unathi character could have worked at before the lay-off's. It could also act as further motivation to search for Phoron. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: It expands upon the already existing facility above Tret and ties it into ongoing Phoron crisis instead of just being a piece of lore to be mentioned idly as something that needs expansion. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways that you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team?: Sure do. Long Description: Tret Orbital Neutron Manufactory:
  16. I was one of the first people to look at the document before it was published. I very much stand by this being cool. I've got some comments/suggestions but Faye is already aware of them relating to expanding on individual prosthetics. +1
  17. Comparing antag balance in firefights with playing a Tajara and being more susceptible to bullets is a ridiculous statement. Antags cannot go around "minimising the risk" all round if you want even vaguely interesting antags. Sure they could barricade themselves into a defensive position, sneak through maintenance and avoid all the windows but this does not lend to interesting engagements the majority of the time. Not to mention the laser rifle still has armor penetration so even if they do all these things no amount of armor will save them from getting shot. Antags shouldn't have to play to win. It's the rounds they do that are the ones that get complained about the most.
  18. Exploding into gore over a 9MM is a Tajara specific issue. It's one of the least damaging guns in the entire game and an average person can easily take a whole magazine of 9MM and be fine very quickly. The complaining regarding .45's only slightly died down when they were moved. For a long time they were still known as the "gun for when you really need to kill things" due to their high AP and damage. This only changed with the armor PR. Either way if Laser rifles were to be nerfed it would push towards buying cargo guns. Security would struggle against group antags without said cargo guns and this would be a bigger issue as they have a tendency to be broken powerful. It would shake things up but I'm not sure it would shake it up in a good direction.
  19. Doesn't matter if it's been nerfed once or a million times in the past. If it's still too strong, it's still too strong. This is a discussion about the laser rifle as it stands currently.
  20. I personally believe they look pretty good when geared up. Anywho I don't mind the scarlet color theme for NT even if blue was stick in my mind as NT
