  1. we are so back
  2. Hello! Thank you for your interest in Skrell, this is a solid app. Just a opening few questions for you. 1. How does Xuq feel about Synthetics? Especially considering they are Abyssal Era and had a family member stolen from them by Glorsh. 2. How does Xuq feel about Vaurca and Diona within the Federation? 3. What is Xuq's favorite food? 4. What is Xuq's SCS? How do they feel about the Federation?
  3. The topic of this post revolves around how medical and in-game violence interact inside the game, which revolves around violence for the majority of the "exciting" rounds.
  4. A Heavy Roleplay SS13 Server. Dying is a part of the game. Hard to RP about anything but fake politics and canon event rounds when no one is actually in danger in most rounds.
  5. As I mentioned in the post, it would just be readied for antagonist, as I foresaw what your described, but I think that atleast knowing some antags are readied will improve chances others will.
  6. Look 16 extended rounds in a row is great and all, but I do like some antagonist gameplay in my aurora soup. While antag pop can be cyclic, its plainly evident that less than a half of the server have antagonist play on their agendas. There's many reasons for that, but I just want to focus on one. One of the reasons I do not ready up for antagonist is that I don't want to solo antag on a 50+ pop round, that's a lot of medical and security to compete with solo in just two hours. So, to prevent this hesitation and suffering, I suggest we add an "Antagonists Readied Up" counter to the Lobby. There's no way to really see which gamemodes are readied for without somewhat spoiling what secret gamemode got rolled, but I think it'd be a step in the right direction.
  7. I would personally not tie this to the Aut'akh, but that is my personal bias. However, this is certainly an interesting and relevant addition to our lore.
  8. this has my support so I can do things on rev rounds that are evil.
  9. please add this I can't keep track of all these birthdays HELP
  10. I am a brotendo stan. +1 He's done a great job as Skrellmaster. (Skraster, if you will.) It would be my pleasure to see our local angry British man ascend to the (smaller) throne.
  11. Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq Passes; Funeral Parade on Aliose Attracts Incredible Number Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The venerated Lori’Eldap passed away last week following months of hospice care in Orq’wesi. Her last weeks with us were spent receiving visitors ranging from former students to cherished colleagues in the medical field. The hospital she was staying in had to be secured by local Xomor Security services twice due to visits from Weashbi Jrugl and Liqin Hsiao-Li, CEO of Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals. Outside of this, Lori’Eldap and her staff have seen to the distribution of her current research projects to trusted colleagues within the University to ensure no progress or potential innovation was lost due to her passing. Following her death, Grand Councillor Weashbi announced the Grand Council, with gracious permission from Lori’Eldap’s Quya, opted to personally handle the funeral arrangements to honor the memory of this incredible pillar of Skrellian science and progress. Shortly following that announcement, Weashbi informed the public that the funeral procession would be a public affair on Aliose. Surprising few, Skrell from all over the Federation began pouring into Aliose, swamping local short-term housing services and Qel’Zvol Hospitality facilities. One worker claimed they were having to appropriate storage units to house overflow. A few civilian class hulls owned by Qel’Zvol Hospitality were pulled into orbit to serve as additional housing for the visitors. The funeral procession began at Aliose University of Medical Science’s courtyard and proceeded along Orq’wesi’s main street towards the veiled project on the edge of the city constructed in haste by the Grand Council. The procession itself was headed by Weashbi Jrugl, Aliose’s Planetary Councillor Kuvaa'Purnaq Taqtoq and in an unannounced appearance, C’thur Queen Mouv. These leaders were followed by the casket, carried on a hover-craft being ceremonially guided to its resting place by Lori’Eldap’s Quya and Qu'Poxii. Behind the casket, a large formation of Starchanters and Starkeepers marched, chanting the Devourer of the Cosmos and recounting Lori’Eldap’s accomplishments in verse. The Starkeepers projected the Poet above Orq’wesi on a cloudy night sky as the march began, so the stars could observe Lori’Eldap’s final journey. As the procession proceeded through the city, Skrell crowded the edge of the streets and tops of buildings to pay their respects to Lori’Eldap as she passed by. When interviewed many of the Skrell gave varied answers as to their personal reasons for attendance. A vast majority of them came due to themselves or members of their Quya being saved by Skrellian medical services. Behind that category, the largest reason for attendance was that the attendees were former students of AUMS or Lori’Eldap directly. As the procession arrived at the holographically concealed building, Mouv turned about and addressed the nearby crowds and newscasters. The holographic cover was disabled, and the newly built Orq’wesi Medical Complex was unveiled. A tall, pristine building, domed at the top with white stone intricately carved with the local constellations. The complex is set to prove useful in treating rare diseases in the Federation and beyond. The top dome was revealed to be a mausoleum for Lori’Eldap, so that she may forever watch over Aliose’s doctors and look ever upwards at the night sky. The Stars grow brighter.
  12. Thank you for applying! I've got some questions for you before Brotendo arrives you punt your across the Traverse. 1. What is Mokii's favorite food? 2. What is their favorite non-Federation Food, as they have left Fed space? 3. What religion, if any, does Mokii follow? 4. How does Mokii feel about Synthetics, despite their goal to escape the Federation's grasp? 5. How does Mokii feel about other Federation aliens, such as C'thur and Vaurca? 6, What is their Qu'Poxii's name, and do you think they live in the Starlight Zone in Mendell City? 7. What are Mokii's views on violence? Especially given they intend to join the TCFL, and their campaigns in the Corporate Reconstruction Zone?
  13. This is now closed
  14. Thank you for applying! This application is a little sparse. While the bar for species whitelists is much lower than other whitelists, typically we strive to have applications cover a decent chunk of the species's lore, or demonstrate that most of the sub-pages were read. Additionally, you app contains some phrases that are out of date or not used in our setting, such as "Space Law" and you mention your skrell being hired onto the Aurora, when our current setting is the SCCV Horizon.
  15. Thank you for applying! I have some questions for you. 1. Listener/Receivers are not classifications that are decided by the Skrell, but biological classifications that grade a person's reception to psionic influence. You can still be a Listener, but your skrell would not be the one "deciding" that. 2. What are Wolxii's thoughts on the C'thur Hive? 3. What are Wolxii's thoughts on the current events happening in the Traverse? 4. What is Wolxii's favorite food? 5. Does Wolxii have any personal investment in any of the Skrell Faiths?
  16. Subversive Activity Continues; Skrell Abroad React Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The subversive elements in the Q'elpi region and elsewhere continue to agitate against the government and Kala operating in the Marauder Systems. All of this is happening in spite of the Federation's renewed policy of proactive response to dissident activity. Demonstrations, anti-Federation speech, vandalism, and other activities continue in the Traverse as more planets preemptively enact their own policies in the face of growing opposition to the government and its actions in the Q'elpi region. Posts on Viv-ID showcasing dissident actions in the Q'elpi region are common, despite the restrictions on extranet access by the Federation. While primarily these posts are calling on Skrell across the Spur to support their "peaceful" cause, government officials and loyal citizens have been quick to point out the destructiveness that these subversives are bringing to their homes: Bolder dissidents have even gone so far as to hack into local SCS show boards, making both national and local politicians show up as having the lowest scoring social credit score. Amongst these include Grand Councillor Jrugl themselves, who was shown to have a social credit score of zero. This vandalism was quickly rectified but resulted in these boards being shut down for several days while security systems were updated. The response to the strife in the Traverse has been mixed abroad, as both pro- and anti-Federation Skrell voice their opinions. Many loyal citizens abroad in the Sol Alliance and Cooperative Territories of Epsilon Ursea Minoris have been quick to oppose the subversives; while in mixed areas where both groups live together, such as the Republic of Biesel's Mendell City, tensions are rising quickly as hardliners on both sides begin to rally external support. No nation in the Spur has yet made a statement on the dissident movement or their Skrellian resident's reactions. However, representatives of the Nralakk Federation abroad have called for those worried to remain calm, stating that "The Federation's internal workings and issues are nothing to be concerned over." and that what the Federation is facing is "simply a vocal minority."
  17. If this was done, I would only want players that are actively in the round to be able to vote. No ghosts or lobbysitters.
  18. In a recent round, I had the following ticket exchange with a staff member after I raised to Code Red as Captain, at 1:56 round time. Two issues I have with this exchange: The first: If my whitelist is at risk for "bad play/form", then those expectations, if they go beyond what is in the rules, simply need to be written down somewhere so everyone is held to a textbook standard. The second, and focus of this post, Code Red is a reaction to events on the Horizon, it is not an actual choice that Command/the Captain makes, so much as an evaluation of the current situation. Command has little actual agency over what the Code is from an IC perspective, as its their responsibility to see the correct Code applied for the current situation. Incase anyone hasn't reviewed the Codes recently, here's what's on the wiki for Captain/Command to go by regarding each of the standard codes. During the round this ticket occurred in, Security was getting thrown around by a hulking vampire, on top of another two active hostiles. But, because this hostility ramped up at 1:56, I was held responsible for delaying the round's end for my response to the situation, a response mind you, that I am expected to preform as Captain of the Horizon, so Security can act as needed within the bounds of the regulations. If I lowered the Code on a canon event round because 2:00 was rolling around despite there being an active situation, I'd almost positive the CCIA would throw my Captain in the trash without a second thought. On an OOC level, by not raising to red and preforming my job duties as a non-antagonist, I'm actually bordering on breaking quite a few rules in the "Roleplaying Characters" section. We are not /tg/station, CM, or MRP/LRP. We're a HRP server, where our main focus is firmly on roleplay. The fact that the staff currently expect Command players to ignore IC situations if they are close to 2:00 round time is not conductive to a HRP environment. If ghosts are complaining about the delay, there are multiple ways to join an ongoing round. If a current player is in a round and wants to leave, there are multiple ways to do that. Aurora's longstanding policy, unless it has simply changed without notice being given, is that the priority is always on the active players within a round, not ghosts or people queued to join the next round. The only current OOC guideline for Code Red that is written down, and the only one that I believe Command can reasonably held universally accountable for by that virtue, is that Code Red should never be held when unnecessary. If admins are determined to have rounds end at 2:00 sharp, I believe that such expectations should be codified on the wiki or enforced via mechanics. Until that happens, Command members should not be bwionked for doing their jobs.
  19. Loorey is a great player, and I encouraged them to make this application. I've played with their OM more than once, and I've chosen to by blatantly biased due to the tempting prospect of having another Vetju player on the Horizon. +1
  20. No. The reason tower defense is locked behind such a large ready count is so the crew has the numbers needed to resist the antagonists, even if they join forces and coordinate with one another. Antagonist versus Antagonist is not a better solution than the crew simply losing or being put in a tight spot once in a rare blue moon. Instead, antagonists should be encouraged to escalate immediately if their goal is to unite and hit the Horizon as a coordinate group.
  21. BYOND Key: Butterrobber202 Total Ban Length: Indefinite / Jobban Banning staff member's Key: Roostercat Reason of Ban: As burglar, took a Cargo Tech hostage and shot them five times in the head, headgibbing them at around 35 minutes, claiming that you didnt know it would kill them. This is very flimsy and doesn#39t really make sense, and you have a super long note history. You should know better than this by now, man. You can appeal this on the forums Reason for Appeal: I steeped in a depressing amount of self-disappointment after this ban, not because I got it, antagonist is hard to play and I usually chucklefuck my way into an antag ban about every year and a half. What tore me up about this ban was that it wasn't any antag ruling fogginess that I fell over. It was a complete and utter lack of game knowledge. I had always watched Sec use .45's to behead lings and the like, and it got in my head that 9mm, being a smaller caliber, wasn't capable of doing the same. In the mentioned round, I shot someone in the head a a lot in Operations with a 9mm, a gun I almost never used as antag because I often opted for a larger caliber. After I shot them, I was going to throw them to the paramedics and let them get treated in Medical, its right next door so the response time would've been tiny. Once they were thrown at medical, we would've been escalated and we could go about our evil deeds on Sec's radar. Then I took their head off with with the 9mm. I really didn't begrudge Roostercat at all for saying my supposed ignorance was a flimsy reason, I've been running about here since 2014 or so, but it was the truth. After the weapons and armor code got reworked a few years ago, I never bothered with code diving to look at the values closely. So, after a long break from playing, to cooldown and to work on my studies, I came back and began writing this guide as a sort of personal penance for my earlier stupidity. Writing the guide had me code diving for all the damage values for the weapons and their projectiles. The wiki is out of date and my guide is incomplete for the entire uplink, but I put every weapon found in a traitor uplink on there before I moved on to other categories because of this incident. Anyone who opens that guide will find that I put "every bullet has the sharp tag" at the top of the weapons category. All that to say, I felt like a asshat for what happened and I've put in some elbow grease to see that it doesn't occur again.
  22. Dean of Aliose University Retires; Enters Palliative Care Translated to Tau Ceti Basic The prestigious and venerated Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq’s two century long career as Dean of AUMS has come to an end this weekend after an announcement from her staff to the public. Despite the intense and dedicated attention given to Joolro’Loveq’s medical care, the weight of five and a half centuries is weighing down on her. Lori’Eldap came to this decision on her own after realizing her failing body was beginning to impact her ability to teach in the Srom. She regrets not being able to finish out the current academic term and has arranged for her current students to receive special attention from some of the sharpest scholars available to the University. During her time as Dean, Lori’Eldap logged more than 620,000 working hours driving academic and medical innovations for the benefit of the Nralakk Federation. Graduating class sizes have increased over 21%, professional development programs involving Ziip’Ta Medicinal and Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals have doubled their coverage and student counts, and non-skrell students began their academic studies at AUMS under her watch. In his response to the Dean’s announcement, Grand Councillor Weashbi expressed his deepest sympathies and gratitude to Lori’Eldap Joolro’Loveq for her outstanding work within the University and for the betterment of medical science within the Federation. Beyond that, Weashbi thanked her for being his personal friend and the Grand Council’s most steadfast advisor for over a decade. He promised she and her Quya would receive all necessary support during this time out of his own pocket. Likely related to her announcement, the Grand Council has appropriated a wide plot of unused land on the far end of Orq’wesi and begun a construction project. Many C’thur Workers were spotted on the site with Skrellian overseers, but the Council has made no formal announcement of the exact purpose of the project.
  23. Devices and Tools have been added, thanks for all those positive feedback, almost halfway there.
  24. What is this? Many people do not play antagonist very often, and the few who get their feet wet for the first time can be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options presented by even the standard traitor uplink. This goes through the stats for the items they are important for and some suggested usages for the items. Conveniently, it also gives some info on how many hits it takes to kill someone, which is a great thing to know if you're not trying to accidently cut someone's round short at the ten minute mark. Cough. Opposed to my other Antagonist guide this guide, this one focuses on mechanics and how to best utilize your gear. It is up to you to have the common sense to follow escalation rules and not misuse these to gank people without a goal in mind. For now I've only gone over the weapons because they occupy the majority of the uplink, I'll go through the devices and other smaller weapon categories at a later date. For any commenters, please leave your personal strategies and prefered uses below, and I'll add'em on if they are particularly clever. PSA: All these tests are done and compiled based on my knowledge of the code, so errors are not only possible, but likely. Point them out if you see them! Anyone not wanting to comment here can find me at: Butterrobber202#1542 on any Aurora discord.
