2 dismissals Discord: Command whitelist only Relay channel and OOC channel
Butterrobber202 replied to greenjoe's topic in Archive
Honestly, despite the concerns, I think this suggestion would be a net gain. Since Command players often occupy one another's slots, there's no real other way to have dialogue with them ICly unless you want to join as an off-duty for the sole purpose of talking shop with other off-duty command players. Its a very tedious thing to have to bother with. Having a channel to actually talk to other command players/characters and help make rulings from command players more generally cohesive would be nice. And sometimes you can't get the full picture of an event from an after-action report by the staff, since they miss alot of stuff as the event runners, so it would be doubly nice to talk to people who were there. -
Venting about the grab system (Salt Posting)
Butterrobber202 replied to Colfer's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Grabs actually got updated in a recent PR to calm this sort of behavior down. Typically, weaker species will have a harder time both maintaining and escaping grabs. The only expectation I think is Skrell, who can't maintain a grab for anything are incredibly slippery and escape them easier. -
Add a "Mentor" role to the staff line-up.
Butterrobber202 replied to Girdio's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
I think the best people to weigh in on this are staff members themselves, as they experience the brunt of the "load" of ahelps seeking assistance in gameplay. The frequency of those specific types of adminhelp DMs would determine the actual need for this sort of role on the server. -
Captain Equipment: Aegis RIG
Butterrobber202 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
The goal was not to increase the current values, but make the RIG only have defenses against ranged attacks, protecting the Captain on the backline. Ideally it would have 0 melee protection at all, or other protections at that. The point of the RIG is to prevent the Captain from being sniped or shot, not save his bacon on the frontlines. Additionally, most people atm would simply not put on the Captain's Voidsuit right now because the slowdown is more likely to get you killed than anything else. -
The Captain is the most valuable member of the crew on the Horizon at nearly any given time. With that in mind, the gear they are issued should reflect that fact. As it stands, as far as "combat" gear goes, the captain has a flash, armor vest, helmet, sunglasses, energy pistol, autorevolver and the current Captain voidsuit. The Captain's voidsuit is kinda ass on purpose from a development stance from a few years ago, with its design revolving around the following idea, "Don't give the Captain solid protection or we might get Captains leading calvary charges when they don't need too." That idea is all well and good, and was pretty well-founded in the period it appeared in, but I think now that the WL is more heavily moderated and expectations are higher, we can safely move away from it without causing much issue. Captain Voidsuit Armor Values, for reference. My argument here is going to be mainly, not only is the Captain voidsuit relatively mid, its actually worse than a Security Voidsuit because it has a 1.5 slowdown. If the Captain is the most important person on the ship, let's give them some emergency gear to keep them afloat. I think it would be cool if the Voidsuit was replaced with a specially made RIG called the Aegis that has excellent bullet and laser protection, but next to no anything else to encourage Captain to hide in it in the back-lines. As for modules, I think the IIS Module, Leg Actuators, Maneuvering Jets and a pair of unique modules would make the Aegis worth having around: Zeng-Hu Life Preserver When the RIG wearer's BA drops below a certain threshold, this module injects the wearer with a slew of stabilizing chemicals. Emergency RIG Release Utilizing a key inside the CMO's locker, this module instantly retracts the Aegis RIG to allow Medical access to the wearer. Key access can be turned off and on by the Captain, but automatically flips to allowed access if the Captain drops below a certain BA threshold. I'm willing to try and commission someone for some new icons for the Aegis if the developers are interested in this suggestion.

Change the sound of debuggers.
Butterrobber202 replied to CourierBravo's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
this is actually a bug with root sounds. Debuggers and robotic combitools don't have sounds assigns, so its defaulting to a punch, I believe. -
During the Bridge reworks, we lost filing cabinets in the XO's office. Additionally, for some reason, the Captain's got put in the visitor area of his office, rather than where his request console and paperwork supplies are. If possible, I'd be a big fan of moving his wall charger to a different place a putting an offset filing cabinet inside the wall where it currently is.

BYOND Key: Butterrobber202 Total Ban Length: inf Banning staff member's Key: no idea, it doesn't say. WickedCybs Reason of Ban: After "resolving" the conflict in the prior note. Ended up causing a mutiny by telling the CMO and some of security that the borg said the HoS hacked it and made it kill people. They still for whatever reason, trusted the word of an unlawed and uncontrolled killer borg instead of following their lawset and essentially self-antagged to facilitate the gimmick. Reason for Appeal: well, I recently got an AI WL App approved, but I ate this WL strip in the early phases of the AI WL rollout, and for some reason I got double tapped with a WL Strip + Ban, which isn't how any of the other WLs work afaik. When I asked the AI team about it, they said to just go ahead an appeal it. anyways, this was years ago and the details are fuzzy, but I believe what happened was I just overthought about how to interpret my laws while obeying metagaming rules. I think it went "normally its crazy to assume an AI is rogue without evidence, so as an AI why would I assume a bound is compromised internally and not being affected by outside sources?" So, I allowed my AI to run with the idea that the HoS was compromised instead of the traitorborg because of a lie it fed me. I think it got escalated to a ban when my actions also caused a daisy-chain of other pretty serious administrative action across the entire round. All in all not a good time. moving forward, I resolve not to let traitorborgs lie to me as easily and not lobotomize my AIs just so the antag can get away with stuff.

Return Loyalty Implants as a CCIA Action
Butterrobber202 replied to Butterrobber202's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
because they are being applied differently. Captain and HoS still get mindshields, Loyalty implants reappear as an antagonist item for rev gimmicks and as an option for the CCIA to instead of deleting a character. -
aurora development is a circle comment here loyalty implants were cool and dystopian as fuck. While I believe they shouldn't appear in a "normal" gameplay loop, having them re-added for antag gimmicks and as an alt. punishment for the CCIA is a cool idea. It would allow for the continuation of characters otherwise sent off to rehab as corporate puppets. discuss.

Move the sprint key from the spacebar to the shift key
Butterrobber202 replied to restricted's topic in Archive
i dont care what happens but please get mov_intent of my spacebar. I used it as my resist key, and I do not want to combo shift, crlt or alt to get out of grabs. -
the disruptor is awful on purpose for the reasons above, antags getting a “second chance” if they fuck up on green and sec isn’t armed. Gives them wiggle room to escape. However, we should absolutely make disruptors more effective on unarmored targets. When I play Officer, I usually will just pepperspray someone over using the silly weak gun.

Prevent indirectly shutting down antags by hiding items
Butterrobber202 replied to Fyni's topic in Policy Suggestions
hello. I am an antag main. there is no need for this. If you are thinking about stealing something, bring the tools for the job. Raiders have an emag. Just emag the captains safe and locker, they both will open. If they aren’t there, they are on the Captain. Shoot them in the head and loot their body. -
I don't care what color it becomes but can someone PLEASE make AOOC not the exact same color as Security comms. This is NOT SecAntag punishment as its punishing me as Loyalist Captain!!!

Hi! Thanks for applying. 1. What is Xeqo's favorite food? 2. I see that you stated they dislike Viax, good on you for commenting on intra-Federation alien relationships. How do they feel about Diona? 3. Is Xeqo religious or in tune with their spiritual side? 4. How have recent events in the Federation impacted Xeqo? Such as Lori's recent death.

Feedback for Command Remap (Not bridge).
Butterrobber202 replied to ReadThisNamePlz's topic in Completed Projects
Captain has no privacy in their own office, unless the windows are tinted. Echoing an early comment in this thread, the Captain needs to be able to get antagged or sit in their office quietly without being seen, especially since their duties sometimes have them doing sketchy things. My personal suggestion is, the Captain does not need a 4 man sitting table in their office. They don't live in their office, and have conference rooms for that sort of meeting, not to mention the Command Longue. As a rough design, I think the Captain's Office so more closely resemble something like this, as far as walls go: A lot more closed off, and the Captain gets more than a 3 by 10 to enjoy as personal space while on shift. Also, the Autorevolver really should probably be in the Captain's personal area. As much as it gets used, it's hardly a display piece. -
You see those platforms? The ones with the railings? Yeah, if you remove the railings, you actually are not allowed to move off the platform anyway. The only way to enter the open space and move down is to jump. This makes it impossible maintenance drones or cyborgs equipped with EVA gear to move about the atrium and other spaces that have these platforms. I'd suggest making it possible to walk off of platforms, or make it where if you are on harm intent, you walk off or something.

Just roll Lii'dra Hivemind and a new Lii'dra HUD into one Antag Type Admins can assign so Lii'dra Antag/Event Characters can tell at a glance what other Vaurca are Lii'dra and which non-Vaurca have been converted into Zombies via Black K'ois. (This thread is made thanks to me absolutely annihilating one of my black k'ois pawns because they were wearing security armor.)

BYOND key: Butterrober202 Discord name/id: Butterrobber202 Borg / AI names: For the few times I play Borg, its Goblin. Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: Yes Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I don't like where AI is on Aurora in both lore and gameplay. I want to play it and get a stronger understanding of the AI gameplay loop and suggest changes because SS13 is one of the only games that lets you play as an AI in the first place. I want it to be cool and fun for all involved parties. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they?: ah, you know. A handful over the almost decade I've played here. Mostly relating to antagonist gameplay. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?: Yep.

Just pointing this out, the improvised radio jammer is an incredibly unreliable tool and is really only used when no other options for disabling sensors/radio is doable. I'd probably blow up TComms before trying an improv, depending on the situation. The thing randomly shuts itself off every few seconds with no warning or indicator.
