  1. Literally all of deadchat. You were amazing. Yes. I jumped in shortly before Ivan was discovered. Such a godsend. I needed that in my life. I'm not a fan of R.A.T. in general, but the spiderbot stuff made me struggle to breathe.
  2. I was said captain... It got pretty uncomfortable a couple of times.
  3. Even as an antag she came across as just too creepy for me. IN a rev round, where you are still supposed to play your character for the most part, she captured my captain and forced him to strip. Then did shit like rubbing his chest. The man is old with prosthetic arm, foot, and heart... He appears his age too.
  4. This is exactly why people bitching about extended rounds bothers me. Do you know how many antag rounds I play and the only interaction I get is "What was that?" "Oh, someone bombed medical." If we could all enjoy extended then who gives a shit what the antag is doing? Did they ignore you? You got to play in a high stress extended round. Did they engage you? I bet that was a fucking blast, right? I avoid antags like the plague. I've only had to deal with a few that weren't nuke ops, cause nuke ops tend to fuck everyone's days.
  5. I appreciate your earnest answer and your advice on not truely seeking advice from this particular community. I also appreciate the people who read this and might have fucked with me who decided not to. To prevent issues in the future, I guess It'd be smart to ask a staff member to take this down.
  6. I'm very jealous considering my computer ate shit last week.
  7. So... My wife and I are over. After years of me not being able to change myself enough she's leaving me. Worst part is, neither of us can afford to strike out on our own. So we are forced to live together still. I made the decision, in part, to let her go so I have to live with that, but I've never been good at recovery from mental and emotional damage. Anyone got any pointers to help get through a rough patch?
  8. What are you, an imbecil? Repair it yourself! Wish I knew enough about laptops to get it fixed. I'm not even sure how my computer works and apparently the model I have isn't on any home repair pages.
  9. I make level 3 with several of those games, but I think the chart is biased as The Legend of Zelda, StarCraft, and Dead Space are some of my favorite games and I don't consider them level 0/1 material. Zelda is not particularly a "casual" game when you are as obsessed as some of the people I know are, including myself.
  10. First. I'm 28 fuckers. Secondly, I wish I had the money for repairs. And lastly, I feel for ya Meow. I miss Lyar running about.
  11. I applied via PM. MY laptop is inoperable for the forseeable future and as such my time, both in game and on the forums, is going to be very limited due to a shared PC. While I'd still love to do this, I'm not sure that I can. Maybe next time recruitment rolls around I'll make it. I fixed things I think.

    Broken

My laptop power button is fucked and I can't turn it on anymore. I will download the game to my wife's laptop at some point, but my play time is going to be greatly reduced. Sorry guys.
  13. Just gonna poke this into existence again. It's valid, relevant and I want it. It's also pretty fucking complete.
  14. I feel that a list wouldn't serve to hinder as much as help create. Think of all the sects of christianity, So we allow all of those and maybe give people a basis to follow. No one says the list is exhaustive. Feel free to create and mold beyond the bounds. A list might help our players who are a bit less creative, or perhaps shy about going to far and want a starting ground wrapped in lore.
  15. In my opinion the IAA has one primary task, to ensure regulation is met on all levels. They make sure paperwork is being handled, records are in order, arrests are valid, and that standard operating procedure is being handled. The civillian sector, cargo, and command should be worried about building a "funding" pool for the station, and that's how I view the cargo point system. I'd like it if the cargo points were a money value pulled from the cargo account, we could then easily charge for cargo items and in emergencies a head of staff could make a deposit into cargo accounts from the station account to be sure enough money is there for the situation. In non-emergencies, the system is designed in a way that should only show an increase in profits. At the end of the day, the money in the various accounts belongs to NanoTrasen anyways. Perhaps I'll make a thread suggesting proper "registers" since the ETFPOS is used so rarely that it confuses most people. I've "stolen" money because most people don't realize they are paying me instead of the cargo account.
  16. Lame
  17. 20% is a rather high chance. If you resist 5 times in a row, you'll succeed at least once. And giving a total failure state takes away the assurance that the person is pacified - if there's a chance they'll randomly get to maul you for 3 minutes, why bother with the implant and not just chuck them in a cell until transfer? Even I'd be hesitant to use them. . . Having a pause in the function if you're attacked is something I can possibly see as a good thing. I mean, it opens up the hilarious situation of your antag buddy having to punch you in the face every 30 seconds if he wants covering fire from you. If we want to compromise here, why not unlock "disarm" intent for those 30 seconds? That way he can shove someone, but can't bash their skulls in. I agree that 20% is a high rate. I also think that minutes is a poor choice. 10-30 seconds at most. Make it so they have to finish their fight fast or be close enough to the fight to get hurt so the device shuts down for a further 30 seconds. Lets tone down the chance to a 5%, and make it take 6-10 seconds to do without flavor text describing it to anyone other than the resisting player.
  18. Now, this doesn't classify them as non-crew, but it does limit their ability to do ANYTHING AT ALL. They are also considered experiments at this point and standard containment/study should be observed.
  19. Captain is not a good example of jobs to avoid. Derringer has made more "friends" as captain than I have in ANY other role. But tips from me would be the basis of what Killer wrote. Smalltalk. Chit-chat. Bullshit. Just say hi to people walking by. SOMEONE will stop and say hi back and converse. Get involved in conversations on the comms. Make yourself mildly known by being vocal but not pushy. When Qwerty went from AI to IPC, people seemed to flock to it a bit. Qwerty, via comms alone, had become a likable figure for the crew.
  20. There are a few points to bring up, a couple of which are opinion while one is fact. First, I feel the decision to retain intelligence should be a RP factor dependent on the character transformed. Some people just can't turn their minds into the mobs. However, this does not mean that the transformation should be something they take lightly. If they don't become the monster, they should be freaked out. In my opinion, this needs to be one of the "unknown" effects of slimes and one of the reasons they are still being researched in the fashion that they are. Secondly, DEciding if they are crew or not depends fully on the person reacting to them. Litterally, and how my AIs would treat it, it no longer is, as it's not a recognized, sentient race. If it does not appear to be able to perform it's job, tough shit. I give lee-way to the humanoid slimes since they can still work. Lastly, by altering the DNA of anyone they become and experiment. See Station Directive 4. Poor wording says "equipment," but I feel a slime core is just that. And the changed person is a derivative of said core, thus falls into the directive. Being outside of containment as a hazardous experimentation creature, certainly breaks the directive.
  21. Hey, I'd like to direct your attention to my app and perhaps we can work together a bit for our own benefits. The way I've come to understand loyalty implants, they aren't removed between shifts, but rather deactivated and reactivated. My idea for the "implant" is to get an Implant Activator that is usable once. We use it on round start and it otherwise acts like a loyalty implanter. I spoke to someone about a sprite once and they never got around to it so I'll be looking for a new spriter soon. Let me know what you think.
  22. This is possibly the best idea ever. I love this as it creates a fair chance for less robust players while still giving the mechanic manipulators the ability to do so and still win. If I ever see someone dragging a locker about in a fight and use it to beat me I'll be sour as fuck.
  23. Frances, I barely know you on a personal level, but I have seen and read the things discussed between you and others. When I was a mod I only had to get on to you once and you pretty quickly saw my reasoning and accepted it, but the whole time I was there I felt like you were "testing" the moderator team on your own terms. I felt then, and still do feel that it was wrong. I know you can give me litterally any reason to explain how it wasn't a "test" for us, but intention vs perception is a real thing. Your intentions may have been good or malicious, but I took it poorly. My perception of you for that incident is poor. From what I've seen of you in your posting, though at this point I won't go citing examples as I hate digging through tons of old posts and use the forums in the simplest ways I know how, you hold grudges. I'd also like to point out that given past examples from the times you were getting in trouble as a bald recently, I can see that you might hold some strong favoritism. I'd like to note that my perceptions my be wrong, but they are mine and without proof of otherwise I can't say that I'd be truly comfortable with you as a moderator. Who knows, perhaps you can change my view either before or during a period of moderation, only time will tell that. But now is where I officially state my -1 to your application.
