In short, exactly the opposite of what you two did. I would have actually interacted with whoever I was targeting, and I certainly wouldn't have lured people with no foreknowledge or interaction, and then shank them to death instantly. Because, no matter what, that is something that SHOULD be against the rules. And, now that we're back on the subject of black and white rules again.

You say if, and that makes me apprehensive. You don't KNOW they did that, but it sounds like you were already ready to completely absolve them. And, I like your force-of-nature thing, like the example you gave once where a virologist slowly exposed certain people to the virus in interested ways. I liked that because thr way you put it, it involved individuals, AND the station, in a way that made itself interesting, and well known. What did the above do? They called two people in a secluded area, and killed them. They didn't make themselves known, they didn't do anything interesting for the station, they didn't even interact with the individuals.

Yes, friendly competition is all nice and well, it even has "friendly" in the name, it's cute, it's wonderful, EVERYONE loves friendly competition. But do you know what competitions have? Competitions have RULES. What happens when people break rules? Well, ideally they're punished, or scolded. A loop doesn't absolve anyone of anything, if you break a rule, you should be punished. If human nature excused anything, well, there is a lot of stuff that goes against human nature, stuff I won't get into here because this conversation could get philosophical and long and annoying very quickly, and this isn't the place for that.

You asked what my criteria would be for making SECURITY valid, not just anyone in general. Yes, lings need to kill people, I have been linged, many, many, many times. You know what they never, ever did? This. You know what they did instead? They RPed with me, Im sure thats a very novel idea, but lets go along with it for now. They were characters my characters happened to knew, trusted, loved. We talked like normal, walked around the station, out of sight for a second sometimes. Thats when they did it. You know why I don't mind being linged like that? Because they put effort in it to involve ME, and take to account MY enjoyment. What happened in this situation?
-
It also completely destroys the engine and most of engineering. And not to mention that it poison the entire station. So, the ENTIRE station would have radiation poison, and medical could not "easily" deal with that. Espically if you stack them on top of the casulties and injuries from the explosion itself.
-
My idea of valid is this: Are they a threat to your continued life span in game? Kill them, if you must. This is also reflected by the rules. Okay. If you don't follow the rules to the letter, how exactly do you follow them? Because what they did broke nearly every rule to the letter. If breaking one, two, three, four rules laid out isn't enough to garner any sort of punishment, what is cause for it?
-
Yes Skull, ambushes aren't covered by the rules. But you know what is? What I pointed out above. What did they do? They broke the rules mentioned above. Lets see what they did. https://gyazo.com/1741e4de049f40b46d06f57c1d8ee9b4 it is expected for you to provide interesting roleplay to your targets first, Don't see any of that. https://gyazo.com/03e1070824fb35b3d78f899f837c8956 Nope, they were told to come, and invited. https://gyazo.com/03e1070824fb35b3d78f899f837c8956 https://gyazo.com/1741e4de049f40b46d06f57c1d8ee9b4 Where is any of these presented logs does it show that these killings were anything random killings, with no RP garnered, but rather just an attempt to get more DNA, and hinder security so they can have more rein? No, we don't say that, buuuut- Are there exceptions? Yes! Did this happening follow either criteria? Well, look above... Can you explain how you see what SECURITY did here as powergaming? From every piece of evidence we see, it says that the LINGS were playing-to-win here. But you agree what they did WAS powergaming, you just think they shouldn't be punished because... Reasonz? I also hate your flawed logic following this, about how they need to powergame because everyone can just assume, OOCly, that everyoe else will just power game, so theres a giant buttfucking loop of ganking, powergaming and playing-to-win. The fact they were 'forced' to powergame doesn't excuse them.

I thought I posted here earlier, guess not, so I thought Id drop this here like I wanted to do before. Just, an alternative to what we had, now that genetics is kill.
-
Right. Now that I have the time and ability to do so, I went looking through the rules. Now, let me highlight something I feel is important here. Also this bit here. This was an random as a killing gets, with literally nothing applied to the victims, as the rule above said they should have. And a previous point I made, So, within the boundaries of our rules, how is what happened here, NOT gank?
-
Yes Chaz, we know they worked together, that's great, we've beaten a dead horse completely raw, but those are the antags, where have they provided anything to OTHERS, people who are NOT antags, the people they are MEANT to entertain? Beside being killers, what are they providing to ANYONE? Give me one paint answer to that question.
-
Basically what you said. I wasn't cutting a rule on a subset of gank, I was citing it because that rule says it IS gank. Also to what Chaz said, let's look at the main, big bold text rule for antags is. Make the round enjoyable for OTHERS. If they RPed among themselves, tell me, where is the enjoyment of OTHERS?

Was security a threat to them? No. They were armed, but they had no reasons to make themselves a threat to the people who called them. Were they failing to comply to their demands? Well, no, because they didn't say a thing to them at all. So. They met no criteria to Doomberg's rules set about killing characters with no RP, which they did not give to either of the players, no matter what you think Garn. I have more examples to give, but times restraints.
-
Garn, this is the second time you've let something go because its a "gray area" and you think it isn't gank, when it very clearly is. This is literally no different than one person standing behind a door, waiting for someone to walk in, and then instantly killing them. Why is it any different because THEY RPed among themselves? The point of antags are to enhance the enjoyment of OTHERS. Very clearly, walking into a room in getting jumped for no reason, with no RP is not contributing to anyone's enjoyment, they just wanted to kill security members for the sake of there being less security. The EoR warning though, I think that's pretty valid. You are supposed to stop any and all conflict once the shuttle gets there. But, since it had a very valid, IC reason, Im glad he wasn't banned outright for it.

Yeah, that's the one Thundy.

Oh yeah, you! I was medical that shift. I remember trying so, so, so hard to remain solemn and serious in character, but I was dying with laughter.

Bashing stunbaton to more stuff instead of shield
Jboy2000000 replied to Potatohboi's topic in Archive
You can already headbash things into walls. Aggressive grab, aim for the head area, and then click on a wall. -
Also, you're not immune to any of those. Most of those weapons mentioned required you to be close to your target. And you can easily remove anyone from a tug with one single click.

(Not Really A) Staff Complaint: Garnascus
Jboy2000000 replied to LordRaven001's topic in Staff Complaints Archive
So, the CMO is carrying around Runtime. They see someone who isn't a member of security carrying around a laser rifle, with no one else around carrying a laser rifle. Then a moment later, a very much lethal laser shot flies by them, and kill the cat they were carrying? What about this situation makes it seem like a stretch that someone was trying to kill them? And being in code red really shouldn't give people permission to carry around laser rifles and weapon, corporate regs still apply during code red, just because people may overlook them to see the bigger crisis doesn't mean they still don't apply. -

I just want to say that this isn't the first time (this being the fourth time if I recalled correctly) someone had accused Garn of not properly communicating or collecting evidence, leading to a shortcoming, so I thought Id say that it may be entirely possible this is another case. -
Jerk off with a meat slab from Betsy in escape. Ive found some amazing RP can be drawn from odd characters disabilities. One of my characters in horribly ashamed of having a prosthetic arm. One of my characters is incredibly weak to Slime telepathy. One of my characters is a clanless Unathi. And do you know much rich, deep, fun RP Ive drawn out of this? A-fucking-lot, m8.

I think it was rushed, poorly handled, and I personally found several things wrong with it. For started, you never set up the custom event info thing. I was so happy to see it was extended. Even happier when I thought it was normal extended. Boy was I miffed when the station started blowing the fuck up. Second problem I had. You blew up the holodeck, for seemingly no reason, and most of the station was gathered right around it because I assumed, "Hey, if we're going to get hit by the debris, it's safe to move to the center of the station." Well, no, the holodeck blew up with literally no explanation as to why, and killed a good number of people, and wounded even more. I wanted to do the reasonable thing at this point, and call the escape shuttle. What did you do? You said lolnope and canceled it. Again, with no IC explanation. Then we started moving people off the station, because the entire thing was blown to hell, and atmos was destroyed. Again, you decided to to take an OOC approach and tell people to calm down, you were setting up the event, even though you already destroyed several pieces of the station. Lastly, and this has nothing to do with you, mostly, I hate war events as much as I can hate anything about 2D spessmen. We're a HeavyRP server, why do we need to go out of our way to appease people who want something high action and combat oriented? There are lots more Combat severs than there are actual RP servers. Theres no story, nothing, just, "Hey, lets pop down some NPC hostile mobs, and let people fight." I mean, you TRIED to make a story, so points to you, but it made no sense. It started off with something described like a stay being born, and then it was a ship? It made no sense. So, yeah. All in all, kind of... Bad. Want my advice? Don't blow up important bits of the station, and then expect them NOT to call a shuttle, especially when you also go out of your way to injure and kill people before the actual meat of the event. Set up the custom even panel. Give IC reasons for things. Give less OOC reasons for things.

Unban Request for Sandwich8080
Jboy2000000 replied to Sandwich8080's topic in Unban Requests Archive
When the shuttle is called, all conflict is supposed to immediately end in Departures and the surrounding hallways, with little to no exceptions. -
A lot of stuff never got added to the database.

You left "Character Name" blank. I know you mention it as the first two words in the backstory, but -shrug-
