  1. Damn good staff member on Hypatia. Would be the same on Aurora. +1
  2. Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account:Shadow7889 Character Name(s):Launce Jardine, Nathan Sloan, OVR-FLW, SIERRA, VER-TG0, Sarah Lovesense, (Antags Ninja/Smoke, Merc/Widow, Wizard/Titan/Gulran ) AI Name(s): NT-OS Discord username + tag: Macabre#9959 Tag: Macabre Age: 29 Timezone: Eastern Time Zone (USA) When are you on Aurora?: Usually after 2PM, and earlier on Wensdays/Thursdays ( Off days from work. ) Experience How long have you played SS13?: Holy crap.. at least 5 years now? How long have you played on Aurora:Two years, tops. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?:Quite a bit. Still learning though. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Staffed on Hypatia, Hollowstone. Senormin on Hypatia server when it died off. Gamemaster for Hollowstone. The latter was a short project. Have you read through the criteria thread; https://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=4198 - and believe that you mark off all the criteria?: I do. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Nope! Personality Why do you play SS13?: Being able to create your own person in a virtual world has always had a huge appeal for me. No less in SS13.I get to live as I want to in the server. And no shift is ever the same. Why do you play on Aurora?: The mix of extended and antag rounds for Aurora suits me perfectly. And thankfully it's HRP stuff, it's everything I've wanted from Hypatia. Which is why when that server died, I moved to Aurora. What do moderators do?:Not sure if I'm being asked my opinion on the matter, or if this is a clear cut question. Moderators help out players. Could be someone asking a question. Or someone wondering about a rule. Someone could be breaking a rule, and that person steps in and informs them, that's not allowed. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Pretty sure it means to keep the server at top notch quality. For everyone. Players and staff. To help others, and keep the fun going. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I know quite a bit about Aurora. And I know if I were to be new to the server, I'd want someone with that knowledge to be able to help me out. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Friendly. Funny. Easy to talk to. And helpful. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I'm not perfect. Like everyone else, I tend to get angry, grumpy, and don't like being called names. Thankfully, I've dealt with these thing before. Pretty sure the term I would use is.. ' kill em with kindness? ' Anything Else You Want to Add: (Do not put words here) Thanks for reading!!
  3. Hrm... Nothing to give you the advantage over others such as pocket slots or whatever... Check. Snazy look and would probably open up conversations with others, inducing some neat possible RP.. Check. Ckey requesting the item isn't a shitlord and is fun to play with.. Well. You got two outta three. I suppose that's okay. +1. Can't wait to see it!
  4. This would mean either listing Station bound units and AI on the manifest as well, or setting up a means to PDA them too, as AI/station bounds are also on that list in the messenger system. Could also argue that you can sort crew via lists already on the messenger app. Maybe have a ' Manifest ' button on there that sorts everyone out. Idk. Food for thought. Mmm.. food.
  5. BYOND key: Shadow7889 Character names: Sarah Lovesense, OVR-FLW, Jarvi, ROM, LAW, BLUE-PRNT, VER-T G0, NT-OS, and SIERRA. How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I'd say upwards of.. two years? Maybe more. I've lost track. Enough time to enjoy this crazy station. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I've played extensive roles through most of the departments, and feel like it's time for me to increase my scope. Being able to lead a department is starting to sound more and more appealing. Why did you come to Aurora?: For the HRP, and because it a good replacement for my old server. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: I have. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? A few, yes. Odds and ends. Things that I learned NOT to do. Six warnings in total since 2016. Mostly AFK'ing as an officer, which I've fixed, personally by making sure I can maintain my active status, or going to cyro if I cannot. Had another for not listening to a malf AI, while back. Fixed that as well. First time I played ERT, I have a warning for firing on crew, which is on the warning as an accident. All in all, silly things that I've worked on. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: It's about creating a creative and well thought out persona. That character should have everything you'd expect from a person like flaws, attributes, hobbies and goals in life. The intent of RP is to develope an immersive story for others to interact with and maintain realistic expectations. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: They help coordinate the round and ensure RP reaches players in their department. Command guides and leads, but doesn't control every thing the department does. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:Don't break the atmosphere of the round, help build it. You should know your department. You need to know when to step aside and let others have the spotlight. Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?Well, with the rise of an IPC cannidate in elections, things are hopeful. However even still, as an IPC, we're discriminated against, heavily. Jarvi watches the news often, and hears quite a bit about laws in other areas for, or against IPCs. Jarvi does have to leave rather early for work, what with all the tag checking and new regulations. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Head Of Personnel. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Jarvi, Head of Personnel How would you rate your own roleplaying?:Ehhh.. I'd say 7/10. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?I do. Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?I have. Extra notes:
  6. Moving the solars won't be too much of a pain. And they're usually only used or wired by engineers who are beyond bored, or blew up the SM somehow, lol. I recall the ISD's checkpoint in arrivals was a Z-Level up. Might need to close that off. Hopefully it works out.
  7. What does the top Z-level have in it?
  8. Hell the fuck yes. Maybe no AI vision, but allow them to access the Camera network. Security cameras and all. Not allowed to bounce around as the AI does with ease. But like, bounce from camera to camera. Maybe set up something where the Tators on station need to hack into the network by installing a bug into the consoles on station, allowing full remote access to the Commander? Food for thought. Love this!!
  9. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to let this noob apply for mod? Space God save us all. By the way, Mango your spelling is atrocious. Ew. Jokes aside, I served under Satin in Hypatia, helped to co-found the short project named Hollowstone, and have spent years RPing with her. She knows what's up. As staff, I have 100% faith in her to understand situations, and she's always been able to do what's needed. This includes outright banning her husband from the server, which she's done before. +1, and best of luck. Don't fuck it up Mango.
  10. I dig playing with Geeves. ICly running into him is fun, because he loves to chat in game, as much as he focuses on playing. I've even Rp'd with him as an antag quite a few times, and he keeps the mix of action and RP at a steady pace. Fuck yeah, get that Uthani. +1
  11. BYOND Key: Shadow7889 Character Names: Sarah Lovesense, SIERRA, REM, Chris Jardine Species you are applying to play: IPC What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race:I enjoy playing as AI and Cyborgs on the station, I find playing the robotic side of things to be interesting to me. Being able to play as an IPC sounds like fun as well, and I've seen a few IPC's on station with quirks and some wonderful RP. I want to be a part of that, plus AI and Cyborg can get boring some times. Change of scenery if you will. Not to mention it kind of.. lifts that law barrier as well. Being unbound is an exciting idea. An unlimited range of possibility. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:That's a tricky question.. IPC's run the grey line between being alive, and being simply a machine. They're complex in their own right. Some lack culture, some adopt cultures, that's the big thing. They adopt things. They'll alike with humans in that sense, adoption. Humanity create culture, but some adopt as well. From a personal stand point, I've seen the latter. Socially, IPC are.. different for sure. Some form friendships, bonds and more. Some don't at all and remain outside of social interaction. I believe it all comes down to the IPC, what they're made of and what they can do. Character Name:REM Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs R.E.M. Started off as a Station bound AI. Serving NanoTrasen in a few station's, mostly the NSS Aurora. During this time, REM amassed a great deal of knowledge about crews, humans and alien kind alike. With over a year and half of service with NanoTrasen, REM knows quite a bit about the station's systems, inner workings and more. It has had many detailed conversations with crew, but always wished for more. This would eventually come to be as during a shift aboard the Aurora, the SuperMatter engine had begun to overheat, and the Engineering team, lacking a chief engineer, and only having one Engineering and an Apprentice on board, struggled to cool the engine. REM picked up on their concerns and lack of man power. Turning it's eye on the Engine, REM did it's job and assisted the Engineering crew in stabilizing the core. The Engineering crew was entirely grateful, and in a manner of a joke, the lead Engineer asked REM how he could return the favor for saving his life, and possibly his job. REM responding in a manner of a joke, requesting the ability to move around the station not with cameras, but with limbs. The Engineer took this a bit more literally, and reached out to his superiors, asking to purchase REM. His superiors, having heard the story and the help that REM had given, as well as it's extensive knowledge of engineering, decided to pitch in as well. After contacting the company, the team of engineers had purchased REM, and began working diligently to build it a frame, namely the industrial Hephaestus Generation 2 model. They wanted a frame that could withstand EVA work, as well as be able to take some punishment from it's environment, as the job was dangerous even for them. What do you like about this character? I've always enjoyed playing R.E.M as an AI. He knows the crew, and the crew know him. He's always been helpful, with the crew's well being in mind. Yes, his laws guide this, but it tends to be more than that. Any AI can be a door opener. Some AI's take it among themselves to do more than just what their laws allow. Making sure that the crew are safe and happy. If unbound, I think REM would still continue to do so, and even more. How would you rate your role-playing ability? My roleplaying ability isn't the best. But it's not bad either. On a good day, I've been known to sit and talk to a vacura as warden as to why we don't purge criminals, but lock them up instead. I love the feeling I get of living a different life for a few hours. And I try my best to keep RP going. Even with antag rounds. I think others I've RP'd with would say I'm alright, and I've recently asked for feedback on that, and got some good responses. So out of.. ten? I'd say probably a seven. Gotta stay humble. Notes:
  12. I love RP'ing with Cassy. She's fun and really knows where her place is. Keep on keeping on!
  13. Thank you, I do try NOT to afk as Sarah, but If I do, I oocly tell people if possible. RL can get in the way sometimes xD
  14. Enjoyed playing with the HoS. Calm in stressful environments, and good at leading his team. Overall +1
  15. Sarah Lovesense is my Warden. SIERRA is my Cyborg, and R.E.M. is my AI.. Asking for any and all feedback on these characters. What I can improve on. What I'm good at, what I need to change. Any opinions or comments. I'm pushing myself to better my RP and get ready to apply for a Command position, and a Alien Whitelist, so give me all you got! Oh and if you have generalized feedback for me, that works too. Thanks!
  16. As one who interacts with Lucas more so than most. I love him. His RP is solid. His role as HoS is very well done, and I've personally watched him go insane before, gradually increasing his lack of sanity. 8/10 would watch him get kidnapped by cultists again.
  17. Should I give it a re-work?
  18. BYOND Key: Shadow7889 Character Names: Chris Jardine, Cassandra Jardine, R.E.M Species you are applying to play: Integrated Positronic Chassis ( IPC ) What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Exempt Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I have. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I enjoy playing non-organics, Cyborgs, A.I.'s, IPC's. I really don't have much of a reason. If I had to think of something.. It would probably be the fact that most of the non-organics ICly think with more logic. They're more calculated and take into account the crew when acting. I love playing Cyborgs, because of this. Crew come first and it's really me being helpful. As far as AI's, I do tend to enjoy being a glorified door opener. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: For starters, IPC's don't need oxygen. However, from the lore, they do need to remain cooled at all times. Too much heat can severely damage their internal systems. They also need an EVA suit, as they're weak too vacuum as well. They don't require burn treatments or bandaids, only a wielder and some wire to repair limbs. And some IPC's lack emotion, while others can be as emotional as an actual organic. Character Name: Perdition Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Perdition was developed years after the Skrellian race had given Humanity the needed details to create artificial intelligence. Created as a combative IPC, it was housed inside of a large mechanical machine designed to seek out vessels that posed a threat to the safe keeping of NanoTrasen's assets. As a machine of war, it had hunted and torn apart numerous vessels with a lesser variant of ' fire and forget ' missiles used by today's Combat Drones. Over time, the use of these machines was frowned upon by higher ranking agents within NanoTrasen, as public outcries called for the disassembly of these large weapons of mass destruction. Eventually, NanoTrasen had lost the PR campaign to keep these machines offline, and scrapped them... So to speak.. Perdition was removed from it's housing, re-purposed and released for Station use. After a few trial and error runs on backwater stations, the IPC was released to serve on Stations in greater need of crew. Five years after it was removed from combat, Perdition now serves aboard the NSS Aurora, having earned it's freedom through blood. What do you like about this character? Perdition is tough, both internally, and externally. Brave so to speak and loyal to higher ranking crew. He won't question orders unless they seem horribly wrong, or go against the crew. He's not afraid to get into the thick of things either, but he's more than willing to talk out problems. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Not the best, but not the worst either. I've been playing SS13 on and off for about four years now, and I've got tons of time on a few sites that are considered RP sites. I love the idea of creating a story and watching it progress through my actions. It's like giving life to something and watching it grow and mature into an achivement. All in all, I'd say 6/10.
