Reporting Personnel: Seiuu Souqx Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Surgeon Game ID: cjD-az99 Personnel Involved: Seiuu Souqx - Primary Victim Lila Semenov - Patient - Secondary Victim(?) Opus Five - Security Officer - Offender Secondary Witnesses: Francis Kelly, Warden - Was present for latter end of the accusations, and presumably for more of the shift. Time of Incident: (Unable to provide, left blank) Real Time: 01:15 (AM) Eastern Time, 08/28/2022 Location of Incident: Medbay Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [x] - Other: Grave misunderstanding of Station Regulation and Ceti Law. Overview of the Incident: I had arrived quite late to the shift on the Horizon, and walked into the medical bay. A brief look around told me that no one had been present for this shift, so I began to make basic preparations, such as turning on the lights. Approximately thirty seconds after stepping into medbay, a patient was brought in by security forces, including the offender, Opus Five, and they had stated that the patient was suffering from severe contusions as well as broken ribs. A handheld medical scan indicated that the situation was far more dire, as the patient's blood pressure and blood oxygenation had dropped significantly and their brain activity had already dropped below fifty percent. I rushed them into the operating theatre and quickly treated most important injury, which was the heart failure. I also used the borrowed time from an inaprovaline injection to get a blood bag to help replenish any lost blood and keep them stable. During this time, unit Opus Five remained in medical and spoke multiple times over the security channel. Seeing as they were present, and the patient was in cuffs, I requested that they check the pharmacy fridge for alkysine, which we did not have. Due to this, I was forced to treat the patient's brain through surgery. There was a minor incident with the circular saw which caused an unexpected complication, but was easily fixed while the pateint was unconscious. I quickly searched for some bicaridine to treat the patient's physical injuries, but as we had no medical staff prior to my arrival we had none. As such, I used a tricordrazine and perconol mix to help treat the patient and woke her up. This is where the officer's misconduct becomes apparent. The patient is unable to stand properly due to the physical injuries she's received, but insists that I do not treat her further. Seeing as she is conscious, stable, and has verbally refused treatment, I immediately stop attempting to treat the patient. The offending unit, Opus Five, insists that I continue treatment despite this. I remind them that under corporate regulation and Ceti Law, I'm not permitted to do so. It insists that I get a body scan, which the patient once again refuses to get. It verbalizes it's demand that I scan them, before ultimately attempting to get the body scan itself. The patient manages to elude the officer's attempt, at which point Opus Five decides to remove the patient's handcuffs and advise seeking legal action against myself for 'horrible medical treatment.' At this time, the Warden, Francis Kelly, arrived and spoke with the patient. I am uncertain how much he was aware of. He ultimately did not pursue any form of action against myself or the patient. The patient, Lila Semenov, having calmed down, elected to remain in medical where I was able to finish treatment with no further complications. Seeing as the officer elected to release a prisoner without penalty and advise legal action against myself for saving the patient's life, and then following regulation and law while it itself broke those same regulations and laws, I informed it that it should seek out maintenance for it's positronic brain over PDA Messenger, as it clearly has encountered a grave error. It responded to inform me that I should contact it's company or an SCC Representative for any comments, questions, or concerns. So I am. Submitted Evidence: None. Unfortunately, due to the bluespace jump happening during my treatment of the patient, I was unable to properly secure the brief PDA conversation. Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [ ] - Yes [X] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: No Heads of Staff were present. Actions taken: This report. Additional Notes: I am very concerned by this unit's refusal to adhere to basic system maintenance when it's incapable of following or understanding station regulation and Ceti Law while contracted as a security officer.

Change the first responder backpack size to that of a duffel bag.
Chen Yakumo replied to DatSamTho's topic in Archive
As a first responder "main" myself I'm actually quite opposed to this. I've found I can carry a full compliment of medicine that I may need to treat someone in the field, as well as multiple ATK and ABKs, and still have room for flavor items/convenience items, without even beginning to use the backpack. In fact, I frequently only carry a medkit if I end up using the rescue rig. Inventory management has become less and less of an issue over time. If you're having trouble managing your inventory as a First Responder, I highly recommend giving a look over your equipment and seeing what you can prune out. You don't really need two whole roller beds when you can only reasonably transport one patient. -
Reporting Personnel: Xiou Suqui Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Chief Engineer Game ID: cbV-bdiW Personnel Involved: Sil Aclipsa - Surgeon - Offender Secondary Witnesses: Finn Seidr - Station Engineer - Can provide testimony regarding the offender's state during the presentation. Qrose Nyala'Toqli-Fet - Xenoarcheologist - Can provide testimony regarding the offender's state during the presentation. Time of Incident: Whole Shift Real Time: 05:30 Eastern Time Location of Incident: Medical Bay, [Presentation Area, Unknown as of time of writing] Nature of Incident: [x] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [x] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: I had woken late from cyrogenic storage during a particularly early morning shift and spoke with my only staff member, engineer Seidr, about the situation on board the station. After speaking with them about an unrelated incident that had taken place earlier, I went to speak with Doctor Aclipsa. While on my way to medical, they asked if someone could come to medical to assist them, stating that they only needed to be able to "push a button." I informed them I was already on my way and would help if needed. It was there that she informed me that she may need me to press a button on the sleeper. I informed her that I wasn't comfortable with injecting anything into a patient, as I'm an engineer, not a doctor. She informed me that she would be injecting herself, and that if needed, I only needed to press a large 'Dialysis' button. Assuming her to be a professional, I begrudgingly agreed and asked if the injection would affect her lucidity. She stated that it might, and proceeded to inject herself. When I asked her what precisely she'd injected herself with, she said she didn't know, only that it was in a syringe labeled "drugs for torturing political prisoners" found in maintenance. She, as a physician, said she had already filtered everything she knew was bad out of it. I proceeded to ask her why she was injecting herself, as our only active medical personnel, rather than a suitable test subject, such as a monkey. Doctor Aclipsa responded in turn with something along the lines of "what's the fun in that?" It was at this time that I went to write a situation report regarding the previously mentioned unrelated incident, as well as submit a very large side note detailing that exchange. As the only member of Command, I was forced to handle other matters rather than tend to the Doctor's behavior personally. However, while I was handling said matters, our xenoarcheologist, Qrose Nyala'Toqli-Fet, held a presentation about anomalous materials and their properties. Following this presentation, Doctor Aclipsa requested that I allow her to inspect the anomaly Qrose had found firsthand, referring to it as a psychoactive anomaly, which I immediately denied, telling her I needed her to be lucid during the shift as she was our only medical staff. I also informed her that she needed to not be drugged further, in the event that her skillset was required. She took the time to inform me that she was drugged during the presentation as well, and left in a rather flippant, disrespectful manner. My engineer confirmed this, as did Qrose, who messaged me shortly after via relay to request that I not permit her access to the potentially harmful anomaly without a proper evaluation, as she was intoxicated in some way during the presentation. This kind of behavior from a medical professional is troublesome under the most ideal circumstances, and outright dangerous to themselves and the crew under less than ideal circumstances, such as this past shift. While fortunately there wasn't a situation that needed their attention, should the syringe have contained something particularly hazardous, or someone to have an accident while they were incapacitated, lives could have been lost. Submitted Evidence: Due to the nature of the shift I was unable to bring a copy of the situation report with me to the Odin. You may be able to find it on file. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: I was the only member of Command at the time. Actions taken: I told her to remain lucid for the remainder of the shift. I doubt she complied. Additional Notes: N/A

BYOND Key: Chen Yakumo Discord name/id: SkyFree#0064 Borg / AI names: Aria / Blossom Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: I reference it, as well as the cyborg and any job I'm playing, when I play it. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because, being honest, I've enjoyed playing both Aria and Blossom. I enjoy watching the crew on extended rounds, performing their tasks and helping in any way that I can. I enjoy the fast pace when security figures out that there's an antagonist in the round and asks me to look for them, and doing that while keeping a watchful eye on Command (as they are my highest priority in the crew, according to rank and role.) One of my favorite things to do as an AI is preemptively opening airlocks for people when they have access to them and I see them moving towards it. Just a subtle reminder that the AI is there for the crew. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? One single warning that's two or three years old regarding punching several antagonists in the face as an EMT during a firefight. It was a heated moment for me. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? I am aware of the consequences of being dumb, yes.

I do like the idea of what this character can bring to a round if the item is approved. It's something that hasn't been done before on the server, which is truly rare. The icon itself is rather unique, but not out of place in a mining field or the station as a whole. I personally would be somewhat concerned with a void suit as a custom item, but given that it's a mining voidsuit for a character that presumably will either be played as a miner or not at all, it only serves to make a more interesting story. Personally, I like it and I'd love to see it and the story around the character evolve and be explored.

Reporting Personnel: Takiyah El-Amin Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Shaft Miner Game ID: b03-cURV Personnel Involved: Mrrrrhazmanq Naldratajrmro (Assistant) - Offender Dekel Mrrhazrughan (Warden) - Witness Colton Stern (Captain) - Witness/Victim Secondary Witnesses: Medical, she guesses. Time of Incident: Mid-shift-ish. Real Time: Wasn't paying attention. Probably like 3 PM (15:00) Eastern Time-ish. Location of Incident: Holodeck Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [x] - Harassment [x] - Assault [ ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: This is actually the second time within a week that this has happened. She is a simple Tajara. She finds a schlorrgo, she kicks the schlorrgo. This does not harm the schlorrgo. But Mrrrrhazmanq does not agree. He calls this animal abuse and responds to it by clawing and assaulting this one and drawing blood. The first time, she ignored it. An angry assistant is nothing that gets her worked up. But the second time, he does this in front of security. Specifically, in front of the Warden, Dekel, who was also kicking the schlorrgo back and forth with her. She fought back, and security wound up detaining him. She chose to press charges after he continued to spit hostilities at her while detained, and he was hauled off to security. Over the common channel, he calls the Captain a 'sick fuck' and an 'asshole' because the Captain agreed with Taki and the Warden: Kicking a Schlorrgo is not abuse. She does not know what became of THAT. She would normally not submit an incident report. Generally speaking, she does not do well in interviews. She minds her own business. She mines the ore, brings in the materials, and gets paid. But now twice in one week she has been assaulted while not outside; this is not okay. Submitted Evidence: None. Taki is a miner, not a journalist. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Captain was informed because of the commotion on the holodeck. Actions taken: Mrrrrhazmanq was briefly arrested, but this is now the second time this has happened, so she is filing the report on top of it. Additional Notes: N/A

[ACCEPTED] Faye's Command (but really just CMO) App
Chen Yakumo replied to Faye <3's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Stinkee CMO won't let me make Frankenstein's Monster as a surgeon -20 I've interacted rather frequently with you when you were newer to the server and started out as an intern rather than a Doctor. You've grown a lot as a player and everything good I could say in that regard has already been said many times. Your ability to take command of the department and assume a leadership role has been a treat. You've managed to strike the sweet spot that all command should aim for; delegating to roles that your department has staff in and patching up the weak spots in your department when needed and appropriate. Your CMO has been nothing if not welcoming to any and every character that walks into medical, and actively willing to teach anyone who needs taught. While I haven't interacted with you as Command while in another department, you do an excellent job of communicating relevant information to medical when required. As a side note, I've noticed that your CMO doesn't make more than the barest essentials in regards the medicine. You've successfully avoided falling into the Super Doctor trap that many before you have fallen into quickly, and that's a good sign. +1 -
I can't say for certain if this is an isolated incident or a pattern that will need to be monitored. While my in character interactions with you have been pleasant and I believe your roleplay capabilities meet or exceed expectations, I have to note that your trial Head of Security in the round immediately prior to me writing this was...excessive. As someone who joined an hour into the round, medical informed me that security had a patient who was dead and then not dead a few moments later. About ten minutes later, I watched you as well as several members of the security department walk the handcuffed patient to medical to receive a scan and an evaluation, but would not leave the patient alone with the psychiatrist to do so. According to medical communications, you as the Head of Security denied allowing the psychiatrist to speak with them one on one, even when offered to have security on stand by outside. Security then proceeded to cart the handcuffed patient back to security, where they remained for the rest of the round. At no point was the code ever elevated in regards to this apparent threat, and at no point was the crew ever informed of said situation as evidenced by a Central Command announcement acknowledging that a situation report had been received. As command, you have a large amount of power over the flow of the round, and near absolute control over your department. As Head of Security, you can make or break an entire round by exerting more or less force. As a direct result of the overwhelming security intervention, the changeling was unable to ever truly escalate or create a narrative, as far as I can see. I admit that as a late joiner, my view may be biased in regards to the final hour and fifteen minutes of the round, and thus I won't give this application a plus or minus yet, but it IS something that needs to be mentioned. I do think you have what it takes to be a great Command-level staff, given the chance and experience. For now, +/-0. Edit: I saw the original responses to this post. As a result, I don't believe you're ready for Command. In the interest of not influencing others opinions, as well as to avoid derailing the topic with irrelevant posts, I won't make a follow up. -1

Lock people into readying if they vote for the winning roundtype vote.
Chen Yakumo replied to Yonnimer's topic in Archive
We had a population 10 players late last night. Four people voted for Wizard. Only one person was readied up when the round started. I 100% support this. Actually, I 100% support going further beyond from this. If you vote a round that wins and don't join it, you should be automatically banned from participating in the voting system for a period of time. Vote for the game mode you want to and will play, or don't vote at all. Note that this isn't me being in favor of voting to ban these players - just stop them from meme voting. -
Reporting Personnel: Tesi Xi'Ei Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Pharmacist Personnel in Question: Jack Monroe Job Title of Personnel in Question: Anomalist Reason for Review: [ ] - Extended Arrest History [ ] - Grievous Infraction on Record [x] - Other: Extremely persistent on having a prescription filled when medical records failed to transfer from the Odin. Potential addiction case. Notes: Patient Jack Monroe specified that they have been prescribed a "full pill bottle" of Mortaphenyl, at 5 units per pill. Sixteen pills fit into a single bottle, resulting in 80 units of Mortaphenyl prescribed per shift for a condition known as Hardsuit Foot. I am extremely concerned that this has gone beyond the realm of medical treatment and entered into substance abuse, particularly as the only reason the patient stopped harassing myself (the only member of medical on shift at the time) over it was due to a medical crisis happening; one that was very difficult to handle due to the understocked fridge that was a direct result of both Mr. Monroe's persistence and my late awakening from cryostasis. Side Note: I also recommend looking into the prescribing doctor, both from a medical and legal standpoint. This kind of prescription could be fatal to an addicted patient.

Name: Suspense Short Description: The round starts off exceptionally slow. Antagonists are chosen at random. Crew antagonists are given low-level supernatural abilities. The ability to flicker lights, the ability to telekinetically manipulate objects. Perhaps they can hear and see through walls. As the round timer gets closer to that two hour mark, they're given more. The ability to raise and lower ambient heat and alter the atmosphere. They could make use of the already existing psionics code for "energy levels" that would dictate how much power they could throw around at once, and that pool would steadily grow. Each antagonist can be given something different. Maybe they choose from a list right near round start by using a command, with that list being a fraction of the whole opportunity. What if they want more? The others have other choices. Find them. Take it from them, either willingly or by force. You don't NEED to kill them (though that would make it easier.) You just need to get them restrained while you conduct your very, very painful ritual to remove their powers and add them to your own. Why should we add it?: The power list can be very module, as can the amount of antagonists. Low population? Maybe one or two, and restrict them to the lower-tier options that don't have any form of massive station disruption. High pop riding in just after an event and sticking around? A large chunk of these people, with powers ranging from "The thunderclap of my hands produced an EMP and now Engineering is out of power" to "I have transcended an am now God Lord of All Mobs. Behold, my control over my army of Carp, Dwellers, Sharks, Rats, and Slimes. Watch as I bestow upon them Intelligence from people who died or decided to observe." The vague direction on the source of these powers gives the players playing them the leeway to decide how they want to flavor it. Are they psionically awakening? Possessed? Genetically altered? Never the crew to begin with? Their choice. I'm being intentionally vague because I'm kind of spitballing at 3 AM after work. Might delete this later if it turns out I'm dumb.

Reporting Personnel: Aisha Al-Shahrani Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Emergency Medical Technician (EPMC) Game ID: b93-axRf Personnel Involved: Kajji Al-Jumanah, EMT (EPMC) (Witness, Victim) Samuel Wolfe, Surgeon (Zavod) (Offender) Luna Darkowski, Chief Medical Officer (Witness) Secondary Witnesses: Khars Aessen, Warden (Witness to Trespassing in Security) Oliver Fisk, Security Officer (Witness to Trespassing Incident) Akhtar Saif, Surgeon (Witness to Medical Channel, as well as Lobby incident) Time of Incident: 15:30 Real Time: Approximately 11:30 PM Eastern Time, 11/8/2020 Location of Incident: Medical Lobby Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [x] - Neglect of Duty [x] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [x] - Misconduct [x] - Other: Threatening To Tamper With Official Medical Records Overview of the Incident: At approximately 15:30 Station Time, Security called out for Medical to the Brig. Kajji and herself responded, both of us saying we were responding. A patient needed some minor medical treatment, and Kajji and herself began treating them on the scene. Shortly afterwards, the Surgeon, Samuel Wolfe, burst into the brig lobby because we were 'not responding' on comms. As paramedics, our tracking beacons are almost always on in order to help facilitate efficient and precise information in regards to our location and a potentially critical patient. Thereby, our vital signs indicated we were very much alright. After our return to medical, the Chief Medical Officer, Doctor Darkowski attempted to calm the situation, saying that what was done was done. The Surgeon proceeded to proclaim that they did their job and made sure people were okay. Kajji asked if the surgeon's tongue was pierced and told them to quit acting like an intern. The surgeon asked Kajji "Since when were you a doctor?" To which this one responded with asking them when they became an EMT. The surgeon decided that this one had 'forgotten' that surgeons are next in line to be EMTs, when we aren't available - while a crew member had brought in a very injured Pun Pun asking for a surgeon. Following this, the Surgeon abandoned medbay, telling us to "handle this one" and stormed off, declaring that he would come back when the CMO got diapers for us. What surprises her the most, however, is that after the CMO put it in plain writing that inappropriate comments are not going to be tolerated, the Surgeon then responded that we, the EMTs, were not staying in our lane. We, the EMTs handling a patient in the Brig, are not staying in our lane when questioning the Surgeon on why he decided to suddenly become an EMT and storm the brig because we were focusing on the patient's treatment rather than the communications channel, and then we, the EMTs, were not staying in our lane when he stormed out of medbay when a patient needed surgery because "we could handle this one." He then turned around and said that he expected better of his colleagues than the treatment he was getting, but didn't expect anything less from [b]Eridani Tajara[/b] and apologized for making sure we were not dead, and that he would take it as a formal Do Not Resuscitate. She did not interact with him for the remainder of the shift, until the transfer shuttle arrived. She was on the elevator that he was about to board, and upon seeing her on the elevator, he declared "Nope" and walked away. She did not see him on the transfer shuttle afterwards, implying he missed it because she was there. This is blatantly racist and completely inexcusable from a member of the medical team. Our jobs are to help people, not bully and threaten them. Submitted Evidence: None. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Chief Medical Officer Luna Darkowski witnessed the entire event. Actions taken: None. Security was somewhat taxed due to an on-station incident, presumably resulting in Chief Medical Officer Darkowski to be occupied on the Command Channel. Additional Notes: N/A

Reporting Personnel: Spirit Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Chief Medical Officer Game ID: b9X-aVqC Personnel Involved: - Cart Kanara, Corporate Liaison (Offender?) - Que Tup'Xequal'Valurex, Head of Security (Other) - Sanaa Al-Mansoor, Medical Intern (Victim?) Secondary Witnesses: - Mrrrrhazmanq Naldratajrmro, Assistant (Other?? Victim?) - Adelina Martnick, Pharmacist (Potential Witness, was on shift.) - Fros'Qerr Vel-Rena, Surgeon (Potential Witness, was on shift.) Time of Incident: Approximately 21:00 Real Time: Between 2 and 3 AM, Eastern Time, November 4th. Location of Incident: Liaison Office, Medical Lobby Nature of Incident: [ ] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [ ] - Neglect of Duty [ ] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ ] - Misconduct [x] - Other: Potential Injunction Violation Overview of the Incident: I had awoken from cryostasis and began preparing for my shift by greeting both the Command staff and the Medical staff. As I gathered my equipment, I heard Cart Kanara request a No Speaking Injunction from Que Tup'Xequal'Valurex (henceforth the Head of Security) pertaining to Sanaa Al-Mansoor (henceforth Medical Intern) and Mrrrrhazmanq Naldratajrmro (henceforth Assistant.) Immediately, I asked if this was something I should be informed of as Chief Medical Officer, and thereby supervisor to the Medical Intern. Cart Kanara went on to explain that the Assistant was being homophobic towards the Medical Intern, and that 'several people' had brought it to his attention, and that due to an existing injunction between him and the Assistant, he could not file it himself. The Head of Security did not seem too familiar with the process, and filed the injunction accordingly. This resulted in a dispute in the medical reception when the Head of Security served the injunction to the Assistant, who began shouting over the common channel immediately about it. At this time, the Medical Intern was not present in medbay, having gone to the bar to tend to a non-critical medical matter. The Assistant stormed off, prompting the Head of Security to leave the lobby. It was then that the Medical Intern returned to the lobby, having yet to be served their copy of the injunction. I informed them that at the moment, it would not be wise to pursue any altercations over communications. During this time, reports on both the Common and Command channels came that the Head of Security had been assaulted by the Assistant (non-critically.) It was then that they informed me that they had not originally wished for an injunction to be filed. I instructed the Medical Intern to not treat either patient when they arrived, in the interest of preventing any further escalation, and instructed them that they were free from responsibilities until after the minor wounds were tended. She began to proceed to the bar before being called to the security lobby by the Head of Security. At this time, I returned to my office to inspect Cart Kanara's records regarding the previously mentioned injunction between him and the Assistant. I asked Cart Kanara as to why he requested the injunction on the Medical Intern's behalf over Command, to which he responded that she had requested it. I then informed him that the Medical Intern had told me that she had not, quoting that she did not 'wish' for the injunction, and that her initial visit was to begin a paper trail regarding her interactions with the Assistant. I believe, at this time, Cart Kanara spoke with the Medical Intern briefly. When she had returned to medbay, I called her to my office to request more information. She informed me that she had originally gone in to create a paper trail, and that she didn't know an injunction was 'a thing' or that one could be filed. She informed Cart Kanara that she was fine with it, at which point I informed her that I would be handling an incident report from there. I am not familiar with the injunction process, however, given the history between Cart Kanara and the Assistant, the proper course of action would have been to send the Medical Intern to the Head of Security to file the report herself, rather than handle the situation over the Command channel himself. I may be mistaken, but the resulting aftermath did cause a minor assault to occur, as well as a large eruption of insults and profanity on the Common channel. Submitted Evidence: None - I did submit a fax to the Odin at the time of the incident, but I neglected to take the paperwork with me following transfer. Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: No. I had only finished my impromptu investigation with approximately five minutes left before the transfer shuttle arrived, and had to make haste to file the report and fax it accordingly. Actions taken: This report. Additional Notes: None.

[Accepted]Myphicbower's Skrell Application
Chen Yakumo replied to Myphicbowser's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I haven't personally interacted with your characters, nor have I really seen you much on server. I'd feel it out-of-place to comment on the lore accuracy of the background when I myself am waiting on a whitelist approval/denial, but the backstory definitely describes an interesting character that I'd enjoy seeing on station. +1 -

BYOND Key: Chen Yakumo Character Names: (Also Aria - my Stationbound. I no longer play Talus.) Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: A lighter shade of green-ish blue best described as Aqua. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: I've looked over the Skrell pages off and on over several years, and more recently began devoting more time into reading them in their entirety. Why do you wish to play this specific race?: Skrell was one of the first races that I was interested in when I first started playing on the Aurora. I'd give their page a once over, think about applying, and then ultimately dismiss the idea of it due to real life getting in the way, or other things catching and holding my attention. I've always been fascinated by the overall concept of Skrell, given the amount of emphasis their society places on the pursuit of scientific and medical advancements, as well as the nuance of playing a species so long lived, with a memory to match. I'd say the biggest draw to playing a Skrell, for me, however, is simply the fact that they're just alien enough to be 'strange' and 'different' from your typical human, while not being so alien that they're hard to relate to and resonate with on a mental or emotional level, such as a Dionae being so detached by virtue of being a gestalt, or a synthetic character being...synthetic. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The first and foremost thing that makes roleplaying a Skrell different than roleplaying a human is just how long-lived they are. Skrell are capable of naturally living to be two hundred years, with medical advancements pushing that upwards of five hundred. A young adult-aged Skrell can make friends with a young adult human, and live to see that human's great grandchildren get wrinkles and greyed hair before finally passing on themselves, without it being entirely unreasonable. Further, their biology complete separates them from humanity; skrells have no physical gender, and the way they display their emotions primarily through their headtails in ways that they have to actively do to display what they're feeling to a typical human on-looker is interesting. The species history is dramatically different from humanity as a whole. They lacked any large scale wars due to the psionic nature inherent to their being, causing a fairly steady growth from their first steps on land to the stars, ultimately leading to the major century and a half rule of Glorsh-Omega. Oh, and they're psionically active - able to communicate ideas with one another while sleeping and when given the right equipment able to continue working in their sleep. HOW IS THAT NOT COOL. Character Name: Xiru Qi'Isik Please provide a short backstory for this character: Xiru Qi'Isik was born on Xaqixal and spent much of their formative years there, but always had aspirations of becoming a doctor. They had always seen themselves as a big contributor to medical science and research, and had even originally began to attend classes specializing more in the scientific side of said field. However, the more they got into biology, the more vi began to realize that he preferred working with patients and performing more biological research. Xiru ultimately wound up prioritizing their focus for their first degree on a medical doctorate, specializing in neurology. Despite the seemingly cold demeanor humans often mistake Skrell for having, Xiru has always had a particular fondness for the human 'condition,' and often seeks to learn more about how the human mind works on an emotional level, and seeing what truly makes the human mind 'tick' and how it reacts to certain stimuli, ultimately leading them to pursue a second degree in psychology. Now sixty-four years old, Doctor Qi'Isik has worked for a few different clinics, ultimately leading them to Tau Ceti, where they applied for work with Nanotrasen. They one day want to want to unravel the nuance behind commonly occurring phobias to see if there's a common connection in the patient's past, if certain environments are more prone to creating these types of phobias, and if so, how these factors can be related to the researched subjects. "I don't believe in coincidence. Too convenient. There's almost always something more, even if you don't understand it - yet." - Doctor Xiru Qi'Isik. What do you like about this character? I like the overall theme behind Xiru. Unlike most of my other medical characters, their original drive to medical was purely scientific in interest. They don't quite fully grasp precisely why humans feel the way they do regarding certain things, even if they're capable of empathizing with it, and it drives them to study it more while also helping their co-workers and crewmates through the struggles they may be enduring, viewing it as an opportunity to both help those in pain but also to advance their own understanding of the human condition. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 0/10 why am i not banned yet lmao I like to believe that I'm competent. I've been told I'm competent. I'll give myself a solid 6/10. Ultimately my opinion of my capabilities aren't as important as what it actually is, and I can't in good faith say I am or am not good without being biased. Notes: Nothing to note. gnome.
