  1. If we do just put the backpack into the hardsuit slot, I would honestly appreciate the ability to put my backpack onto my hardsuit when it's not deployed, and automatically move to the hardsuit slot when the hardsuit deploys. I try really hard to keep my immersion when playing, and it often means my hardsuit ends up sitting in 'backpack' mode for comfort, which...does not eliminate the hand swapping problem. This also makes paramedics a bit less clunky looking as they inventory stance dance their wallet webbing belt backpack combo. I for one welcome our wallet-less, uniform-compliant paramedic changes. Another idea could be hardsuit specific inventory modules. EMT Rig can put medical-type items into it, Engineering can put Engineering-type items in there, and so forth. The occasional instance of a hardsuit not fitting into any 'one' category could give them a much smaller inventory module, but can fit a wider variety of items. Things like the Mining RIGs and Off-Worlder Exostellar-Skeletons would fall under this. This would give hardsuits a bit more 'capacity' in that they could store items specific to their intent, but not all the freedom that a backpack gives, so you don't have an EMT show up with four different energy carbines, which seems to be the big complaint against this. Sidenote: Didn't we have a note somewhere on the wiki at one point regarding hardsuits that specifically said you could put your backpack on your hardsuit after it was deployed?
  2. CCIA Staff Application Basic Information Byond key: Chen Yakumo Character names: Also Aria (AuroRa ServIce Android), Blossom (AI), and Pixel (pAI). Talus is my designated Spawn-As-Borg slot, but I rarely play Talus itself anymore. Most of them I don't play anymore. Age: Almost 26 Timezone: Eastern Time (GMT-5) What times are you most available?: Generally nights. I'm more likely to be active during the quieter hours than I am others, due to my work schedule. Experience How long have you played SS13?: Off and on for probably 6-8 years. How long have you played on Aurora?: Off and on for probably 5-6 years? How active on the forums, discord and/or server are you? Forums: Hahahaha...not at all. Discord: I sometimes pop in during work hours, and when I'm home Discord is always open, even if I'm not looking at it. I usually pop into the Aurora Discord while I'm playing, and I usually sift through it every now and then even when I'm not to see if there's anything I want to comment on. Most of my Discord time is spent in the General channel, though, since it already moves a bit fast for me to keep up with sometimes. Server: I've been playing most everyday for a few weeks now. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Technically? Yes. Actually? Not officially. There was a brief issue that resulted in a 3 Day Ban following a round regarding my EMT and some antags where I made a dumb decision and got served a 3 Day Ban for valid hunting. However, a couple of hours later I was told that the ban was overturned and downgraded to a warning (long since expired) by a higher-level member of staff, as the incident was isolated and I don't tend to do things like that. Also, there was a timeframe after I got a new computer where my BYOND CCID number matched other users from before I even joined Aurora that were permabanned. Not really ME in this instance, but I did mention I'd go full disclosure on the Discord. Have you ever volunteered as moderation staff for any other servers, SS13 or otherwise?: Yes, however it has been several years. I generally avoid staff-tier positions as they have a tendency to quickly become all-consuming and if you want to do your staff duties properly it's harder to take a step back to play. Do you have any other experience that you believe would be relevant to a position in the CCIA?: I've taken mediation courses in school, and I've more or less become to go-to in my friend group to handle complaints and give advice. Personality Why do you want to join the CCIA?: I've been around for a long enough time to see the server change and grow. I've seen a regular call for more CCIA applications (and mod applications, which I'll still never fill out) and I've found more recently that I enjoy handling investigations and disputes as my Detective (IRU-Oracle) in a very logical, purely interviewing note taking way. I'll always call back to the earlier days of Cargo when no one played Quartermaster and no one filled out paperwork that I was a major stickler on it, because I enjoy keeping things neat and organized. Paperwork usually gets worked into several of my characters as a result, when applicable. What do you think are the most important qualities for a CCIA Agent to possess?: CCIA agents should, at least OOCly, be patient first, and active second. No matter what the incident report is, it's a sure-fire thing that SOMEONE is angry at SOMEONE, and usually, when one person is, two or more people are. A CCIA agent should be able to keep a level, calm head when dealing with those reports so that they can see the middle ground regarding what actually happened, and make their decision based on that. Following patience and active involvement in the server, CCIA should be attentive and organized. If you're the only CCIA online, and a fax gets sent and you don't notice it, you're basically not online. Keeping an eye open for faxes and other tasks (incident report assignments, for example) is important, and so is making sure they get handled. Lastly, keeping everything neat and organized is critical to handling reports in the future. I'm not sure how much information is saved on the back end, and I'm not sure if there's a CCIA note repository on the forums, as I've never been one, but it becomes incredibly difficult to settle incidents and build up a record if you don't maintain that record and you don't have the resolution of the incident logged What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is in an ongoing round?: When playing on the server, CCIA are more or less regular players with a bit of involvement if the station goes into Blue or Red. Under these kinds of rounds, Command staff are likely to send a fax to central and a CCIA agent should be ready to both receive that fax and respond to it, if possible. Outside of that, I imagine most AHelps would be handled by a moderator or admin, and I'm not sure if CCIA can respond to those in the first place, but if they can and there's no present mods or admins to handle an issue, I could see the Agent getting the information to a relevant staff member. What do you think the purpose of a CCIA Agent is outside of the server?: Outside of the server, CCIA Agents should be somewhat welcoming. Even if most of your staff activity is in-character, you're still staff. You have a special section in the Discord Online list, you've got a fancy golden name on Discord, and you show up in-game under the Staffwho verb. Paint a picture of maturity and an environment that says "Hey. If you have an issue, we're here. Welcome." Respond to concerns and questions when you see them. Be active enough that people remember your name. How do you handle stress?: I have a philosophy. "Is this going to matter in a year?" If the answer is no, then I generally avoid stressing out about it. If it won't matter then, why does it matter now? I used to be a stress-filled, rage machine that would fly off the handle at the slightest provocation. To be perfectly honest, I was a toxic little cretin. After truly adopting that philosophy though, I've mellowed out over the years. I do get worn down at times, particularly with my actual job, but I'm usually capable of taking a step back and breathe. How well do you work autonomously?: I work a full-time job in retail. 90% of my job is autonomy. If I'm not given anything to do at work, I find something to do in the meantime. If I have a set of tasks set before me, I find the best way to do them efficiently and properly. I generally take tasks as "my responsibility" and usually only seek help with them if I'm not sure how to go about it. Additional Notes: Additional notes go here. Unfortunately, there are none. So, this field is empty. Except for these sentences.
  3. I've only recently begun playing in Engineering. Specifically, an apprentice, as I knew next to nothing about the department besides some very bare-bones wiki reading and wanted to actually learn it in-depth. My small brain has issues with things like pipes and powernet and I was hoping to learn more in-depth in game in a way that might be easier for me. Val's been around for a good chunk of my apprentice rounds, both as a regular engineer and a Chief Engineer, and every time they've been an absolute joy to roleplay with. They've been very gentle with me as a player, making sure I'm following along both ICly and OOCly, and that in my opinion is something that is paramount to a command whitelist - being able to promote a healthy game atmosphere for both characters and players. Between him and another Chief Engineer that I won't mention, as it's not relevant, I've actually felt like I've learned a good chunk of Engineering and that I'm not being laughed at behind my back. I 100% believe that giving a whitelist here is reasonable, even though I've only recently begun interacting with him. Definite +1 from me.
  4. I don't mean to sound combative or dismissive when I say this, so please don't take it that way. I do agree with @Scheveningen and @Allakai 's points from earlier, but I also want to tack on a couple of things. The questions make mention of answering them with a minimum of one paragraph each. Each question has about one sentence to it, which gives very little information. Your character's backstory also seems to be more "Who am I going forward?" rather than "Who am I up to this point?" I feel that, if you touch up on the above points, and put a bit more "back" into your backstory, you'll be a lot better off during the review phase of your application. I won't make mention of grammar or punctuation in a negative light - those are things can be fixed in post, and judging an application purely on that would be foolish.
  5. I vaguely remember some of these characters, primarily the skrell anomalist Whryyl. You're actively mostly during deadhour, so we don't interact too too much, but the times we have were very enjoyable. You play a very organic, life-like character, and that tells me your roleplaying ability is up to snuff. Your OOC answers here are good, and I feel that if you're given a chance you won't disappoint anyone or let anyone down. Deadhour is problematic, since you can be SUPER ACTIVE and still be relatively unknown. I'm gonna +1 you here and hope you're given a chance to prove me right.
  6. I've interacted with Ramos quite a few times now. You've shown yourself to be active, you seem to have a solid grasp on the lore of the server, and you're honestly just a fun and chill guy to hang around with in OOC and discord. It's gonna be a +1 from me, dog. *Insert T'ChallaGetThatManAWhitelist.png here.*
  7. Original post rewritten following criticisms. Thank you!
  8. At the risk of sounding like a meme, I have roleplayed with several of these characters and I can safely say +1 look good. Each one is unique in their own respect, and I honestly didn't suspect they were all played by the same person. He's quite good.
  9. BYOND Key: Chen Yakumo Character Names: Chip Dawkins, Alissa Ali, more recently Camila Scherer and Anna Clark Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): As I'll be playing a Zhan-Khazan, I intend to be completely black. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. I've also reviewed it again prior to rewriting my application. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: As said previously, I've been observing the various Tajaran players on the server and how they interact. The thing that caught my eye, originally, was the third person speech, and the rolling "r" in their words. It reminded me a bit of the Khajit in Elder Scrolls. After reading the lore (for a second time), I've not lost interest in that little bit, but that's all it is; a little tidbit. I've gained more of an interest in the civil war aspect and the notion of playing a relatively new player in the galaxy as a whole. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The icy planet Adhomai was only discovered in the last 50 years. Prior to this, the Tajara had no interaction with the galaxy; they didn't have any kind of technology that would permit it. In fact, if not for the Sol Expedition, they likely wouldn't be space fairing to this day. The noble leaders of Adhomai had been subjugating their workers and peasants, treating them like slaves for centuries before the expedition's arrival, and civil war was inevitable. Since 2421, the planet and it's people have largely been at war with themselves, with a brief 20 years of uneasy peace between the end of the first revolution and the assassination of President Rhagrrhuzau. On a non-military level, Tajaran life is significantly different from Humanity's. Living on a planet of snow and ice, Tajara have adapted both through evolution and through their lifestyle. Literacy is a relatively new thing to the whole species, due to the heavy restrictions placed on libraries by the ruling noble class. As a result, much of Tajaran history is preserved through song and theater, rather than books, and is also how the working class entertained themselves when they weren't hard at work. Prior to better heating and insulation becoming the norm, a working-class tajara would have a hot meal that could be downed swiftly, as the planet's atmosphere doesn't provide a conducive environment to longer meals. After all, it's kind of hard to cook and eat a steak if it turns to ice before you can. Character Name: Zahid Al-Barik Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Zahid was born at the tail end of the first revolution, barely being old enough to speak a complete sentence by the time it reached it's official conclusion. He was born into a smaller village in the mountains, home mostly to miners and farmers. It was there that he got his first steps. His mind often comes back to here; a time when things were simple. He picked up his first pickaxe at the age of 14, and began his official career as a miner as soon as he was old enough. However, he always felt that he was out of place. He was good at what he did, but Zahid felt there was something more that he could be doing. He remembers the details of that fateful day in 2451 vividly. A Zhan-Khazan had assassinated the president. Zahid didn't know him, personally or otherwise, but soon members of his village began to disappear. Laws were passed punishing the Zhan-Khazan specifically. "This is an outrrrage." He had said at the time. The Hadii government had backed out of it's dealings with Nanotrasen, denying people like him the ability to get more money for themselves and their family, and now he was being punished not for who he was or what he had done, but for what he was born as? Word of rebellion began to reach his ears, and with each passing day in the mines he felt more and more curious. When the Adhomai Liberation Army arrived and took occupation of his village, he was all to eager to join their ranks. Casting aside his pickaxe, he learned the basics of combat. Before long, he had an idea. "If He werrre to join Nanotrrrasen's Securrrity deparrrtment, he could learn theirrr combat style. He could learrn theirr technology, and brrring that knowledge back." He had said. His superior at the time agreed, and Zahid found himself applying for, and joining Nanotrasen as an official member of their security team. What do you like about this character?: I had the idea for Zahid a day or so after I wrote my original application, but chose to withhold him since I had already written and submitted it. I really like the overall idea of the character; everything about him is entirely new ground that I've yet to cover. All of my characters have been loyal to Nanotrasen, and view their employment aboard the Aurora as just that; their employment. Zahid sees his employment as a means to an end. Rather than signing on to have a job to pay for a home, and other such luxuries, he's signed on to get more experience and more knowledge in combat and firearms so that he can better aid the ALA. Of course, he'll help the company as best he can during his employment; antagonizing his employer and getting on their bad side, as well as the bad sides of his coworkers, isn't exactly going to help the ALA at all, is it? How would you rate your role-playing ability?: I'd rate myself above average, on average. Though I tend to vary wildly from day to day. Kind of like throwing dice. It's weird. Notes: The application has been rewritten to be more backstory heavy and focused more on the unique portions of Tajaran society following criticisms from Loow. Thanks for offering your criticisms! Everyone who did criticize it at all said a few short words of "The backstory is kind of bland" or similar. I was able to work harder with the information you gave me, so thank you.
  10. Forgot to add in this as a response. Looked it over, everything clicks and makes sense perfectly. Without context, everything looked VERY validhunt/murderbone. With context, everything makes sense. I'd like to retract the complaint.
  11. At the risk of sounding like I'm memeing, "+1 looks good." But in all seriousness, I fully support this as an IPC and Borg player. Organic life stutters when injured (or in possession of the nervousness disability), so why shouldn't synthetic players also have some form to denote severe injury? Stuttering, or replacing bits of said text with garbled, almost Ion Storm-esque text would be rather fitting. In theory, you could create a Speech Synthesizer component for Borgs if just "overall damage" isn't good enough for garbling transmissions. I've been doing this manually to simulate severe damage on my synthetics; it'd be nice to have it done automagically.
  12. BYOND Key: Chen Yakumo Game ID: bUv-c5d6 Player Byond Key: Arrow768 Staff involved: Juani Reason for complaint: Immediately following the very first announcement in the round he, as Captain Paul Jonson, armed Security with lethals, prepared for the massive amount of murderboning that came after. The entire round was loyalists executing unarmed members of what was then the former crew, demoted to visitors. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes. He said that he believed the action was justified, but encouraged me to make a player complaint if I felt it was not. Approximate Date/Time: 5/23/2018, from ~4PM to ~6PM, Eastern Standard Time. Notes: I've noticed this Captain making questionable decisions before, and have noticed that he has a tendency to escalate any conflict in the round to the absolute most extreme it can be, in the least amount of time. A few weeks back, he executed an SSD Wizard, claiming that he thought it was pain crit. While I'm in no way trying to implicate that it was a lie, I am starting to question the player's capability to handle a command role. This round is essentially the nail in the head. True, he was a Loyalist. And true, it was Revolution. Many members of the 'Revolution' didn't have time to do any antagging, however. They were executed with the rest of the crew in a wholesale bloodbath. The xenomorph event we had recently felt less murderbone than this round, and we had Death Squad in that event. A lot of us who were killed didn't even really get to RP very much before we were. We were just killed. Ganked, almost. On this Captain's orders.
  13. BYOND Key: Chen Yakumo Game ID: bS4-bQaV (Round after) Player Byond Key: ToasterRoboto Staff involved: NursieKitty Reason for complaint: Player in question was the antagonist in a round of Malfunctioning AI. Player in question did not engage crew. Player in question de-powered medbay at the very least, possibly other departments. Player in question bolted all doors and electrified several of them. Player in question did not attempt to create Roleplay for their fellow players, instead opting to largely ignore the crew. Player in question did this in a dead hours round where no one had any power to actually do anything to stop them. If I'm speaking bluntly, I felt this was borderline griefing instead of actual antagging, which leads me to the next entry... Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes. NursieKitty responded by stating, quote, "This is not an OOC issue.". No further action was taken by administration. Approximate Date/Time: 2/22/2018, from approximately 4 AM EST to approximately 6 AM EST, when the crew transfer shuttle was called and the round ended. Comments: While this kind of behavior may be acceptable in more active hours, where the crew has the means to do something about it, this was dead hours. We had one engineer for the majority of the shift, and no heads of staff. We literally couldn't do anything about it, and the player in question did not bother to create any roleplay for the crew. Most of the crew was drinking in the bar for a large portion of the shift because we literally couldn't do anything else.
  14. This actually just came up in a shift I had last night. My security cadet, Brielle Demuth, died while fighting a blob. The CMO cloned her, and then told her it was regulation that he inform her that she was cloned. She proceeded to have a lot of questions that basically completely incapacitated her, up to and including the classic conundrum of "Am I me? Or am I just a copy of her? Who am I, exactly? WHAT am I?" She may or may not become an assistant for a while, and when I get around to it it'll be noted in her medical record that she's undergoing intensive therapy regarding post-cloning stress.
  15. BYOND key: Chen Yakumo Character names: Chip Dawkins (Quartermaster), Sina (pAI), Plexi (Scientist), Talus (Android/IPC this is something that was made canon and I don't know if I'm retconning it yet, so I've avoided him entirely), Wind on a Midsummer Night (Scientist), Cyl (Surgeon), Alisa Ali (Pharmacist), Estrella Batten (Librarian) How long have you been playing on Aurora?: I don't really know EXACTLY how long it's been. I usually play religiously for a few weeks to a few months, and then vanish into the ether for an indeterminate amount of time. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: This is actually two reasons. One, I've had a lot of shifts lately where people just...seem very disorganized and chaotic. Doctors not using health analyzers. Scientists just kind of futzing about. I want to change that. Two...I've kind of gotten bored with doing one thing exclusively during a shift. I tend to play at night, when we have a skeleton crew of 9 people, with AIs not being likely, and other Heads of Staff being even LESS likely. Having the ability to do more than one thing with more access would make for a more functional round, and more rewarding to me as a player. Why did you come to Aurora?: Because I love Space Station 13, but I love roleplaying and hate being ganked by people who see me, I'm their antag target, and then I'm out of the round. Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?: Yep. I plan on playing a CMO and possibly the RD. If you ever see me take Captain please execute me IRL. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is the act of donning a persona that is not entirely your own for enjoyment purposes. That is to say, I choose to not be Chen Yakumo the underpaid retail sales associate, but say, Christine Dawkins the Quartermaster. It's about living another life, for whatever purpose that may be. For me, it's because I enjoy immersing myself in lore and worlds that I could only dream of otherwise. For others, it's about becoming something more than what they are at that time in their life. Regardless of why, everyone who roleplays in a persistent setting like the Aurora is roleplaying to take part in a larger story, with lives that they could never even dream of living. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is to keep things flowing smoothly in their department, and then the station as a whole. They exist as mentors of their department, gurus of knowledge played by veteran players who know exactly what they're doing. On an OOC level, the Head of Staff is there to help the players under him that may not entirely understand their job or the lore, and may seek out help. They have the power to help people who need it, and shut down potential grief before it becomes a major issue, and failing that, fix the damage that was caused, without needing to resort to admins. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The OOC responsibilities of a whitelisted player is similar to what I said above. Depending on the player's whitelist, their responsibility varies. A Dionaea whitelisted player who has no other whitelists would be responsible for making sure anyone who wants to know about Dionaea lore or physiology knows, as well as correcting minor lore mistakes that an uninformed player may make. If that same player had a whitelist for everything, they'd essentially be responsible for becoming a fountain of never ending knowledge, both on lore and on mechanics, for any who ask. I've personally asked several questions of such players in LOOC on mostly mechanical things. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. (Disclaimer: I haven't played this character here. I started playing SS13 on private servers hosted by my friends, and this was one of my first characters there, back when medbay was my fascination. We didn't have a large server population, so just about everyone played a Head of Staff. She eventually blossomed into a full-fledged character all her own. The reason I'm using her and not another one of my characters is because, frankly, none of my current characters are Head of Staff ready. Cyl is a contender for Chief Medical Officer, but she doesn't know shit about virology. It's not in her programming. Other than her, I really don't have anything.) Character name: Pia Tierra Character age: 44 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Pia was born on Biesel in April of 2414. As a child, she was always the one to make sure everyone around her was alright. Possessing an uncanny knack for knowing when something was wrong, as well as a limitless amount of passion, it was always her dream to become a doctor. Her family, though mainly farmers, were very supportive of her dreams. Graduating with high marks at the young age of sixteen, she immediately went to her best bet of realizing her dream: A nursing internship with Nanotrasen while she worked on getting her degree. It wasn't easy, and was in fact far harder than Pia originally thought it would be, but she pressed on. Over the course of the next eight years, she would eventually earn her doctorate and then her PhD in Biological Studies. Having achieved her dream of becoming a doctor, she realized she wanted more - and immediately began pursuing a second degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, with minor in Virology. Today, she works for Nanotrasen, her studies set aside, aiming every shift to be as helpful and kind to every patient that walks into her medbay doors as she was when she first started her studies. What do you like about this character?: Pia has always had a special place in my heart. She has a calm demeanor, even in the face of extreme stress, and almost always tends to pull through in the medbay. Due to her natural kindness, she tends to garner respect from her coworkers and friends among the crew, which in turn leads to an easy-to-handle bedside manner. Every time I've played her, I've managed to pull through, even going so far as to save a member of the ERT after an explosion on another server. Since then my OOC skills have rusted a bit, but it was a very proud moment for me. What do you dislike about this character?: Due to her kindness and always trying to take the best in people, she tends to be very forgiving, and fairly easy to be taken advantage of. Not to the point of handing out chloral hydrate to assistants, obviously, but that police brutality? Yeah that probably wasn't police brutality, it was definitely self-defense. Right? It's a bit annoying, but at this point I feel like if I took that away from her it'd soil part of her character. I might rework her a bit for the Aurora, given the more in-depth injury system ("There is no way your officers had to break his skull, right hand, and left leg, as well as rupture his lung to take him in.") but I dunno yet. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: A Chief Medical Officer is required by the very position to be a exemplary doctor. Not just a doctor who gets their patients fixed up and sent back to work, but a doctor that treats their patients like *people*. An impeccable bedside manner can go a long way towards making surgeries and check ups go smoothly. On top of that, as a Head of Staff, she's required to manage her staff effectively and efficiently. Her natural kindness does her favors here, too, but she's also got a more firm side when a "please" and "thank you" isn't enough. When in a dire situation, such as a viral outbreak, she has what it takes to command the infected crew to quarantine, while keeping her doctors and chemists working in the surgery rooms and labs. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Not to toot my own horn, but I've been roleplaying for about fifteen years. WELL more than half my life. I'm well versed in all forms of RP, from the simple one line posts of Skype to the multiple paragraphs one sees in forums. My favorite is, to be honest, the type where I'm given all the time I want to be detailed, but it's still a live post-for-post RP. Something that you'd see in a 1-on-1 IRC channel, for example. I always strive to improve my roleplaying ability, so honestly I'd rate myself about a 6-8/10 on any given day. Extra notes: Think everything's all filled out right. Sorry again for using a character for this whitelist that I haven't played on this server before. I've been striving to keep away from the whole "Do everything better than your Head of Staff" thing, since ultimately a Surgeon usually wouldn't be equally versed in Chemistry and Virology. Only my most versatile characters are capable of two jobs, due to this limiter I put on myself. As such, none of them are really qualified for a Head position. Why would Alisa be a CMO? She can do surgery and chemistry, but what the fuck is virology? Is it edible? Cyl isn't programmed with chemical or viral knowledge, so she's out of the running too. Plexi is good at the destructive analyzer and that is *it*. Chip is comfortable in the cargo bay, with her small team. So, new Head of Staff...so new transfer. Haha. Sorry
  16. Reporting Personnel: Christine "Chip" Dawkins Rank of Reporting Personnel: Quartermaster Game ID: bNr-aIz5 Personnel Involved: (Name, Rank: Offender/Witness/Other (Ckey)) - Chip Dawkins, Quartermaster: Witness (Chen Yakumo) - Stephanie Watts, Paramedic: Offender (Unknown) - Helen Morano, Shaft Miner: Victim (Unknown) Time of Incident: (Unable to Provide) Real time: (Around 300 to 330 AM EST on 3/11/2017) Location of Incident: Medbay Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard [x]Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [x]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [x]Misconduct []Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: So my shaft miner Helen notifies the rest of Cargo that she's on the asteroid and has a mishap with a drill, resulting in an explosion. Being on the safe side, I told her to come back to the station so that I could have a look at her and send her to medbay if needed. She gets back on station, I grab the Cargo first aid kit and check her out. Bit of blunt trauma to the chest, and a fair bit of poisoning in her system. Personally, I suspect radiation poisoning, but I'm not doctor. So I escort her to medbay to make sure she'll get there alright, and then tell her to come back after she's been treated. The paramedic sends her back with a bottle of painkillers and says she's good to go. At this point, my bullshit alarm is going off. Again, I'm no doctor, but it doesn't take a fancy doctorate to know that poisoning isn't gonna be cured by painkillers. I send Helen back to medbay to tell the doctors that she's suffering from radiation poisoning and that if they don't treat her this time I'm filing a report. So she goes back, and guess what? Radiation poisoning. Also shrapnel in her chest. I took a basic god damn first aid course. I know how to use a health analyzer and treat small wounds. This paramedic did nothing short of shoving a bottle of painkillers in my miner's hand and told her to get out. Helen even protested, saying she truly didn't feel well, according to her. Paramedic ignored it until I sent her back. If I didn't take that course, I'd have sent her back to the asteroid thinking medbay had her treated right. Lucky for Helen, I did. So here's my report. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: Faysal Al-Shennawi, Head of Personnel (Unknown) Actions taken: Double checked Helen's well being myself. Made sure she got the treatment she needed. Reported the doctor to the Head of Personnel, who said there was nothing he could do about it. Additional notes: I don't give a damn what your excuse is. It takes three seconds to grab a health analyzer and check someone's vitals. If I can do it, damn straight someone with a degree in the field can. I can tell you right now that Stephanie did nothing of the sort, or she'd have noticed the toxins in Helen's system. This time it was relatively minor and easily treatable, outside of the surgery needed to remove the shrapnel from her chest. Someone else might not be so lucky. I don't know what'll happen, but I'd be a piss poor Quartermaster if I let my staff be mistreated without doing anything about it.
