  1. First of, I'd like to thank everyone that's taken the time to post on this application, your feedback is extremely appreciated. I'm also more than happy to to answer any of your questions, which may vary from detailed, to vague to explaining the nature of why I'd like to keep it a bit of a mystery. Wanderlust to me or at least Ghoasim-Edrine Qe'liis is not limited by staying in a place for long period of times. While he was working aboard Edirne, he was still able to visit "place" that I'd rather not include, for the same reason I did not provide an answer to Coalf. So the same could be said here, Ghoasim-Edrine Qe'liis felt that while he enjoyed his time, he felt that he could explore and learn more, and what better place as diverse as Tau Ceti, while he feels the need to use his abilities for a purpose, the job also acts as a way to allow him to pursue his hobby so to speak, it's also a bit why he picked this kind of work and it's location, what better way to pursue his hobby while providing the means of his hobby, he can still learn and explore while doing his job. Just a minor detail to avoid confusion. Elyra is not the name of the planet but rather the nation, which is called Republic of Elyra, the planet itself which is part of the namesake is Edirne.
  2. Appreciate that you've posted a comment, but regarding your questions. Generally when it comes to my characters, I like to keep them a closed book as opposed to an open book, I prefer to have it in a way that people are interested with any of my characters or want to find out, they can do so within an IC context, as opposed to reading an obscure paragraph that shows everything about their lives. You're free to ask me these questions if we meet in game or if Loow requires it, otherwise I prefer to keep some information a mystery.
  3. As a Head of Security regular with Lukas, I can safely say that he is one of the more competent and calm officers out of the bunch, I can entrust him with tasks and expect good results in the end. I do not recall an incident where I've had to push him aside and talk to him about how he dealt with a situation and feel he would be an excellent addition to the command whitelist. I've also noticed that Deridin's has been trying to improve on his character in general, so I find no reason than to give him a +1.
  4. BYOND Key:Aboshehab Character Names:G.R.U.M.P.Y. (AI) - Raymond Hawkins (HoS) - Needle (CMO) - Hanaan Al-Meer (HoP) - Aisha Al-Meer (Detective) - Ahmad Al-Meer (Lab Assistant) - Pioneer (Scientist) - Bob Thorton (Internal Affairs) - Groovy (Bartender) - Handy Man (Station Engineer) - Khalid Walid (Drill Technician) - C.E.U. (Security Officer) Species you are applying to play:Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I'd like to open another avenue in which I can play on this station and immerse myself with the lore. The history behind the skrell, their biology, their way of speech, the naming system ((Thanks Owen)), their resistance to something that could've ended them if it wished to and then rebuilding effort. They went to the top and fell, but that didn't stop them and so they've climbing the stairs again through from what I can assume is their collective nature. I feel like I would thoroughly enjoy this along with the countless opportunities they present in within the lore setting that we have for this server. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I feel like I've answered this partially in the other question, but I'll try to give different points. The Skrell biological nature is different from the humans, in the terms they are aquatic, this provides them with the ability to not require oxygen while swimming, as stated in their lore, which allows them to have underwater cities which they inhabit. Furthermore, their physiology differs from humans in the way to reproduce, which is put simply, done through eggs. Another point is their age, where the Skrell are able to live longer than 400 years, thanks to current technology, which compared to a Human, is an extremely large lifespan. Language, speech, their mannerism, while more done by older Skrell rather than the young, shows a habit of Skrell being more direct when speaking, shorter sentences while removing any "extras" that serve no further functions in the conversation. Where the Humans have not suffered a civilization altering event, the Skrell have. As I've stated earlier, the Skrell were knocked down and are trying to climb, to recover. They as a species have been sterilized and their technology essentially requiring to be almost re-invented or done without the usage of artificial intelligence or synthetics. Arguably, The Glorsh incident could potentially be considered the focal point of the Skrellian history, possibly more so than their space age. In the modern age of "2458", Skrells are still paranoid about the notion of AI, where they see the humans expanding like they have centuries ago, they view this as a repeat of what has happened to them and may lead to disaster. Character Name:Ghoasim-Edrine Qe'liis Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ghoasim-Edrine Qe'liis, son of Qe and Liis, born on Jargon IV in the city of Gli'morr, in the year of 2,313. Ghoasim, an only child, was born to two Physicists, both of whom were alive during the Glorsh Rebellion, an event that has scarred the entirety of the Skrellian race. His parent had placed high hopes on him, pushing him to enroll in the Gli'morr City University, with him being the only child, they placed many expectations on him, pushing him to pursue his education a high and good standards. Ghoasim had with the support of his parents had concluded his education with what has later been accredited by Human Institutions as an equivalent as a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, which he would go on and work with the Gli'morr city government in ensuring public transportation logistics would work optimally. In the year 2413, first contact was established with Humans, something that brought joy to the Skrell, Ghoasim included. With the new relations with the Human race, came many opportunities, some of whom were thought of and explored by Ghoasim, but none of them were done, since he felt an obligation and a connection to his parents, whom he adopted to his name. His life had generally been uneventful, he had grown up, pursued his education and had a respectable job, but for Ghoasim, this would change in the year 2420, the year his father would die at the age of 371 which followed by his mother at the year of 2424 would die at the age of 368, these two events would be a turning point to his life. He had always looked to the horizons, especially when both Humans and the Skrell have established their relations, with many of his race moving to Human controlled space to document, experience, to study or many other things, he had decided that with very little left for him, that instead of simply thinking and looking, he would move towards it. A week after his mothers death, with all affairs concluded, he was on his way to the Republic of Elyra, a fairly new entity, where he would be working at one of the many mining outposts dotting Edirne, a place he had Incorporated to his name. Life had now for Ghoasim a multitude of possibilities, each of them fresh and novel. Humans were an interesting race, especially the people of Elyra, as they only represent only a portion of the multiple cultures currently existing from Earth, before they expanded into the stars. He found himself changing certain aspects of his interaction, as dealing with Humans was vastly different than dealing with Skrell. When he was not working on a mining outpost, he would be visiting any of the large urban centers or rural areas, taking in all the new things he found and learned. His wanderlust was only sated for a period of time, before he started looking to the horizon again, with the discovery of new species, he felt that his time in Elyra while being a pleasure, was at an end, and so by 2447, his employment contract was signed with Nanotrasen and assigned to the NSS Exodus as a Quartermaster running over the logistical nature of the station, such as both the import needs of the station to the export capabilities of it. By 2457, his employment status was elevated to that of human resources, as a Head of Personnel overseeing employment matters of the crew and dealing with both the supply and service sections of the NSS Exodus. What do you like about this character? I feel like he would be an exceptionally hard working person, but instead of being by the book and looking for the most efficient way, he would be more understanding of the people he works for and oversees, understanding that they are different from him and the Skrell, and that those qualities should be cultivated to improve upon his work and those he works with. How would you rate your role-playing ability? While I would rate my ability to roleplay to be around 6-7/10, I feel like this question should mostly be answered by the feedback provided in the comments. Notes:
  5. Late to the party but I'd also like to pitch that I've interacted with this player in both IC and OOC. In game, I don't think I've had a negative experience with her from any of my characters and have thoroughly enjoyed playing with her with a certain character. I feel like they will be deserving of a +1.
  6. As a player that has regularly played with Roderick, mainly with his character Carlin Hague and after reviewed the content of this thread, I'm not entirely of the belief that this warrants a permanent security job ban. While Carlin Hague in general is an officer I'd like to have on my team, he is aggressive, sometimes a bit too much, but I doubt this should warrant a complete security job ban. Personally I'd like to hear from the administrative with their reasoning and opinion about this.
  7. I was initially impartial to this, but after the current round, I've reached a conclusion. I didn't see someone with a great intellect, nor a person with any form of professionalism when dealing with a matter, constantly shouting vulgar and insulting rather than trying to be calm when dealing with the situation. Even your excuse of "I only plant when I'm an antagonist" is false, as you had planted in the garden, which correct me if I'm wrong is a violation of station directive four, a directive you as a Research Director should be aware of to actually enforce it. Personally, I'd like to a see a change of attitude from the Character, Nanotrasen wouldn't appoint someone to Research Director that violates protocols but is efficient, since there those that are efficient and follow regulations. If you want to expand the scope of your research, more trays can be requisitioned and other areas refit and relabeled for your experiments. For now I don't believe Sofia Pennington to be deserving of the position of Research Director but there's always room for change and the possibility of myself and others changing our vote should the behavior of the character be within what we believe to be fitting of a Research Director or even a player entrusted with the Head of Staff whitelist. For now, -1, which can always change.
  8. I need time to read it all, I'm reading the horus heresy now.
  9. I'm going to comment regarding the applicant first. White rabbit is a person that I've always enjoyed playing with, with some of my first interactions on this server being with "Verna Marshall", and is an extremely helpful person from the CCIA side of thing, both in game and out. So in this regard, I fully believe whiterabit would make a good, or even a great Skrell player. Now regarding the application itself. I find that the answers to the questions to be well written and good answers in themselves. Second of all, what strikes me about your background story is the form of writing you use, correct me if I'm wrong, but the directness, the small but complete sentences, these qualities are part of the Skrell way of speaking, which is supported by the 1st person point of view of the story. The character itself narrating the story using the skrell speech patterns. I find this to actually be extremely well done. I'd like to give this a very strong +1, and hopefully I'm able to interact with this character or other character your planning to make.
  10. I'm going to hijack this to mention Ciaphas Cain, Gaunts Ghosts and the Night Lords series.
  11. Aside from extremely liking your application, your character is a person while whom I've not really interacted with, is still a visible figure to the station, and basing on my observation along with the testimony of others towards your capacity, I would say it would be injustice to give you anything but a +1.
  12. I've review this application as promised and based on my initial comment, I see an improvement in the post, so he gets a +1 from me.
  13. I'd also like to add that Synth appears to be conducting the role of Moderator pretty well, I've been contacted by him regarding an issue and he never jumped the gun, with the issue resolving in satisfactory terms.
  14. I don't see why not he should be given this chance, I can't comment on the relation between the two of them but he's being honest about it. Though I am curious on any of your ideas or plans.
  15. I've always felt that the humanity isn't as fleshed out as I'd like it to be and after reviewing your sample work, which I find quite nice, think that you should be given this chance. I'm also in agreement with Youjustgotowned regarding the following. Furthermore, there's a bit too much of what is called a "hugbox" also mentioned in this thread, I'd like to see the distrust Tajara should have or looking down upon the Vaurca. Even distrust between certain human factions would be nice, which iirc, is present in the lore.
  16. I like them both, always a nice addition to security.
  17. Okay, I will try my best to answer all comments regarding my self in this read, for the sake of this being easy, I'll number my answer with the number of the post in this thread. For multi quoted posts, I'll post them alphabetically, since I've got no idea how to organize the quotes properly. #11 - Chaznoodles #12 - MrGabol100 #13 - hivefleetchicken #14 - Chaznoodles #15 - hivefleetchicken #18 - Chaznoodles I just want to add that IC'ly and OOC'ly, I'm always open for dialogue, my discord is Aboshehab.
  18. Thanks for the recommendation, but just because the character's nice to some people, doesn't mean they're nice to others. I'm always impartial with you, I'll even cite a character complaint as one, where I knew you were playing Fey but was still fair regardless to what you accuse me for in regard to my IAA investigation or when you hacked the autolathe, which let's be honest you really did, but I had no evidence of you doing it so I just put the case on ice. I really couldn't care less about your characters to actively want them removed from the round or to metagrudge you. This complaint is more to do with touching the fact you don't seem to accept the fact that for every action, there is a reaction. Being slanderous to the captain and refusing direct orders, then to escalate things to assault and resisting arrest, which ends up with Admins asking me why I had you detained because you "never" do anything wrong, and it's always the "toptier" security fault, which in some cases even result in an OOC comments about us. Words are words, so I'm going to add some photos. http://imgur.com/a/Dpq9D In the link you'll find an imgur album with an assortment picture with related text When I see Chaznoodles account on the forums, I assume it would be a player that is very well aware of how things are, instead all I've seen is a person that finds an excuse and blames other things over the consequences. Personally, instead of asking people to PM if they want details, I'd like you to post them here, as is the point of this thread, and if you truly have an issue with my behavior OOC'ly or IC'ly, I would like you to post a thread about it, as I trust the adminstration and the Duty Officers to be completely impartial and just in this. I would like to point out that in the last week or so, he's lost access to security jobs for week and had his whitelist for command removed due to different instances.
  19. Both of them have consistently accused my self of having a meta grudge against them, usually ending with an Admin/Moderator messaging me about the matter, because they do not have the concept of every action having a reaction. I've constantly attempted to keep my cool OOC'ly with them even when they talk about the matter OOC'ly, I try to follow the rules regarding this and I feel like as time moves on, they just push their antics further and further. Chaz may present the arguement that "Bob Thorton" always attempts to get Woodrow Mason out of the round as early as possible, claiming that I always jump the gun on him or that MrGabol says that "Raymond Hawkins" has an OOC dislike for Gabriel Barcia, and that I would find any excuse just to brig him and keep him for as long as I can. But in my personal opinion, this couldn't be harder than the truth, I always try my best to be impartial, and to be fair to you IC'ly and OOC'ly as well as I know you also want to enjoy the game. Both have brought up comments about me on OOC, two of the most recent being from Gabol himself, with one being pictured by by UnknownMurder and the one previous to it was me joining the round as "Raymond Hawkins" and him typing two or three times "kys", which as we all know is "kill yourself", I replied by linking him both the character and player complaints sections of these forum. You may note this down to banter, but on a personal level and from their interactions with me, I really don't consider them friendly to me, nor do I know them in any other scope to consider this banter instead of them simply being an annoyance or insulting to myself or UnknownMurder at this point. I believe this complaint is valid and I would appreciate if the administration and moderator team would look into it.
  20. Good item, good reason in my opinion. +1
  21. I can't give this a +1 due to the fact this application is severely lacking, but I won't give it a -1 since I've seen this character and have had positive interactions with him, so my suggestion before I give a final vote is to brush up this application further, get a name for you planet, write a bit more too it. Remember most of these actions request an approximate to a paragraph and you haven't delivered.
  22. I think given the effort Dylan put into this character and how much he plays this, that this item for Dylan Wright/Sutton seems to be something reasonable to request, since as Whiterabbit mentioned, he isn't one of those "hit dur am a vet". +1 from me.
  23. I think it was a vampire round, with me being Bob Thorton during the round. Don't believe Six was an antag, seemed actively fighting the HoP vamp, could be wrong.
  24. This is the same arguement as a doctor that makes mistakes and doesn't treat you properly or an engineer not fixing a door properly because they can "ruin" games. I doubt many of these xenobiologists are malicious, and even the experienced ones make mistakes as xenobiology from my experiance is an iffy one. As for dealing with this, you don't "have" to run headlong to every situation, a lock down until a efficient and optimal response is also an option. You can send synthetics or diona to deal with this, or get some good equipment like a freeze ray if this is the case.

    Shadowrun

Roll20 is a very good website for this, due to my timeline and time constraints, I would most likely not join but so suggest the website.
