[RESOLVED] Player complaint - Hunnewle(NTRS:PSAI:CUBIE)
Faris replied to Alberyk's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
All members of staff in this round were directly involved, and if we did give a verdict with our involvement it would be biased. The point of this complaint is that someone not-involved would be able check on both sides to verify if this complaint is valid or not and act accordingly. -
[RESOLVED] Player complaint - Hunnewle(NTRS:PSAI:CUBIE)
Faris replied to Alberyk's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
I was the Captain in question of this round, while I'm fine with having AI's with some emotions and individuality, this has gone too far. The AI was refusing to follow orders either outright or just "lawyering" my orders in a sense that if I did not mention minor details in specifics, they'd use it as a loophole. Things like this: Now onto the part that essentially sealed the deal for me, I was planning on writing this first. -
[Accepted] Aboshehab/Sharp - Unathi Application
Faris replied to Faris's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've listened to all my reviews over the forums, discord and etc. and revamped my application with a better character concept better suited for an application like this, hopefully it is better as I admittedly didn't put that much effort in my original draft and would feel bad to keep it as it is with my support thus far. -
I'm hesitant to support this application, last time I did I mentioned that you should play other roles more often before using your other head characters, specifically your Security "Ashley Dawnguard" whom I did say did not have enough experience or knowledge about corporate regulations, which you did not follow and it resulted in your white list for command to be revoked. Furthermore, Dawnguard is a scientist I frequently see violating directive four and taking scientific equipment outside of the lab, which is outright not permitted unless it was an emergency or approved, usually required by the RD or in the absence, other command members. Finally, I'll be honest in saying that I've lost count of how many application have been done for Edgar, why don't you follow the advice of the people here and make a new command suitable character? You can still play Edgar as RD once it gets accepted. So with all these pointers in mind, why should I support this particular application when it's essentially the same one as the previous ones with the only difference is the new additions to your characters?

BYOND Key:Aboshehab Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Black Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I'm a very curious person when it comes to lore, I like to delve into things and think about what's written and what's out the box. My most recent endeavor was the Unathi, I dove head first and I've already got so many what if's and possibilities in my head. The Unathi are a race I've become exceptionally curious about, especially with the story progression shown in the story line that is presented on the news articles. This race is split between so many different groups of different ideologies and allegiances, which I don't think a couple of paragraphs will ever be enough to express this. Then you've got the social system from the Guwans, females, Guwandi to how the skin color effects how society perceives them. Then there's the body language and mannerism, if anything I find the Unathi to be akin to Feudal Japanese Krogans. With the above in mind, I’d like to play this specific race because I love their headstrong personality and social structure, it gives so much room for conflict and story progression, like the concept of the female Unathi HoS, a person struggling against a redundant social system, or at least considered so among humanity, they are trying to rise against the shackles that has been instilled into them from a young age and it seems rather successful from what I saw, that character actually inspired me to make this app for the Unathi rather than the other ones I haven’t seen yet. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: I answered this a bit in the previous question as the differences is what really has me interested in them. Here we have something akin to a Feudal Japan Krogans, Krogans in the sense of their tragedy, whom are transitioning into the space age. They are not necessarily in their own eyes, it's that they have a code of honor that they must adhere to. Their biology includes a stronger digestive system allowing to sustain a very strong carnivorous diet and their sheer size means their physical strength is also superb. When speaking Ceti Common, any pronunciation of the letter "s" is extended, to simulate the Unathi hissing, this also extends to one that has a thick accent with the letter "x" being extended with an "s" to simulate the thick accent. Generally speaking, Humans have had a relatively stable timeline as a race compared to the Unathi, whom during the contact war annihilated almost two billion of their own dropping it from eight billion to approximately 6 billion, which as far as I know is an unprecedented loss of life second only to the Skrell lose of life during Glorsh's reign of terror. I find the Unathi to be this headstrong race, the kind that has thus far used the method of “If you beat a rock hard enough with another rock, it’ll crack”. Character Name: Kark'zir Sirvikya Kek'zir Guwan Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Kark'zir Sirvikya, a black Unathi hailing from the town of Tzonia, where he lived with his parents. His father was part of the fishing enterprises in the region and his mother like all other females on Moghes was a housewife, taking care of her hatchlings. He spent most of his early childhood in school, with very little interest in his education, barely able to pass most stages of education. Kark’zirs passion was instead focused on fishing and cooking, he’d often go on fishing trips whether in company and alone. Yet not all was well in reality, with the conflict on Moghes still raging around the globe, settlements were starting to become more barren, his father being drafted into the levy and fought in the conflict for the Hegemon, being found dead after the fateful battle that ended the war. The war did not leave many survivors, some clans were struggling to care of their own, with many widowed having to take care of their own with little to no support, including Kark’zir mother. She spent her time either taking care of her children or on a job, mostly menial ones, but during the early parts of 2458, she acquired a sickness that was only worse due to her being physically weak and fatigued from all the effort she exerted and one morning, she simply did not wake up. It was at this time that he figured out that there was very little remaining that he can relate it. His close family is dead, his clan numbers dwindling, Moghes will become uninhabitable soon enough and Ouerea became filled with slums. For Kark’zir, there presented a few opportunities for his kind, feared in the frontier for raiding group and considered to be brutes in other areas in the known galaxy. One place held a chance for him, and that place was Tau Ceti, a conglomerate of species from around the galaxy with untold job opportunities that did not involve radioactive wastelands, and perhaps he might be able to establish a place for his clan. By the end of 2458, Kark’zir had signed an employment contract with the Corporate giant known as Nanotrasen. He would arrive a month before the official embargo started and would enroll Ceti Basic proficiency classes before starting his his first day aboard the NSS Exodus during the early days of February in the year 2459. What do you like about this character? I believe Kark’zir is a good example of pragmatism and perseverance. Instead of what many of his kind are doing by staying behind, he’s planning ahead to find a good place for himself that he can establish and perhaps to help his people when more arrive in the foreseeable future. He also has a bit of a young naiveness to him that I think I'll be fond of him, I plan to have him possibly around the age of 20. How would you rate your role-playing ability?I generally answer this the same way. I dislike rating myself as I find this to be a question more suited for the people reviewing my application, but if I would rate myself, I feel like a 7/10 would be a decent approximation. Notes:I’ve revamped most of the application, specifically I redid the entire character concept and edited the other questions.

Perhaps an item that interacts with another certain item, when both interact they spawn your coat? That way you'll need the armored coat from the locker for it to work.

While I simply love flash bangs and actually empty the box throughout my kit, I still think it should be more restricted.

Reporting Personnel: Needle Rank of Reporting Personnel: Chief Medical Officer Game ID: bMv-cC75 Personnel Involved: - Khazkrarheahk Sanu'dra, Security Officer, Offender ((Riqpley_dagasd)) - Mark Syion, Security Officer, Possible Victim or Offender ((Coolbc2000)) Time of Incident: Real time: 1850 GMT, 12/1/2017 Location of Incident: Departures Wing Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard [X]Accident/Injury [X]Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct []Other Resisting Arrest Overview of the Incident: While moving to departures wing pending a crew transfer shuttle, I witnesses Officer Sanu'dra standing next to a restrained Officer Syion, that is when Officer Sanu'dra pulled out a stun baton and began prodding the officer with an activated stun baton. Before I could express that he should not abuse or harm the detainee, which I currently am not sure if it was legitimate or not, was prodded twelve times, eleven of those seem to not been done correctly but the twelfth properly contacting the head of the detainee Officer Syion. At this moment I requested that a station unit to detain Officer Sanu'dra due to the abuse of a prisoner and the uncertainty that this Officer may not actually have been arrested with legitimate cause. After I ordered the unit with the designation of D-E-R, Officer Sanu'dra proceeded to use a flash device to render the unit immobile and nonoperational for a duration of time, where he then moved towards a maintenance airlock in departures leading to the science wing and uttering the word "Bye". Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: None, was only Command present. Actions taken: Attempt was made to arrest him by a station unit with a security module after myself witnessing Officer Sanu'dra conduct twelve prodding motions with an activated baton towards the head of Officer Syion. So, with some interest over an OOC not long ago, I present to you the Aurora steam group. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/AuroraNerdClub Really not much else to say.

Right, I'm going to start off with a bit of an opinion I've gotten based on your post. You're heavily generalizing what I'm saying which isn't really the case, as my ruling on the matter was based on specifics, logs, and facts. Let's start with your admin help itself "Request for Help:: Printer16/(Emmanuel Nickolson)(?) (DIBS) (PP) (JMP|BDY): The HoS decided to shoot me with an energy gun when I was seeking medical help and I haven't previously harmed anyone or disobeyed his orders. ", now the request it self isn't entire true as you had disobeyed commands and requests given to you by security. So I'm going to start from the top when it's been reported that you were breaking down a wall with eyewitnesses. What occurs next is that security moves towards you and a bit of a chase happens until you reach medical. I'm going to post logs in that were relevant to the situation. Moving on to where things got heated up. This spoiler includes an adminhelp transcript between myself and Printer16, the person that created this complaint. This spoiler includes a transcript between myself and Arrow16, the HoS in question of this round. So, to summarize all this. You were chased by security and told to stop since it's been reported you broke down a wall, you end in medical, the HoS aims an energy pistol on stun mode and tells you to drop on the ground, you remain non-compliant and move with a firearm aimed at you, so the HoS fires at you in order to take you down which results in a confrontation between yourself and by the end of the fight, the entire security force and the Captain. During this fight, the security team has tried to downgrade the methods of your capture as far as just trying to grab you to handcuff you yet you continued to retaliate, you continually asked for them to stop but when they did, you still fought tooth and nail, resulting in you succumbing to your wounds at the end and the security team with the commander in particular, severely wounded. You mentioned how you wanted to have some roleplay in medical but need to understand that what happened was in fact roleplay, the fact it didn't go according to your plan or wishes, doesn't nullify the fact it was still roleplay. My judgement and opinion on this matter remains the same.

Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account:aboshehab Character Name(s): Primary Characters: Raymond Hawkins(HoS) , Needle (CMO), Ghoasim-Edirne Qe'liis (Captain), Weirup Vi'liis (Officer) , Hanaan Al-Meer (HoP), Ahmad Al-Meer (Lab Ass.), Aisha Al-Meer (Detective), Handy Man (Station Eng.). Secondary Characters: Frankie Fleming(Stat App.), Ian Hunter (Xeno), Charlton Lester (Robotocist), Pioneer (Scientist), C.E.U. (Officer), Groovy (Civie jobs) , Bob Thorton (IAA), Khalid Walid (Mining), SNARK (Borg), and more that I can't recall right now. AI Name(s): G.R.U.M.P.Y. Preferred means of contact: Discord, Forums and Steam Age: 20 Timezone: GMT +4 UAE, Dubai When are you on Aurora?: I am generally present on Wednsday until Saturday due to returning home from my dorms. On those days I'd say I'm present on the server or available from the afternoon say from 12 PM until I head to bed which can be as early as 10 PM or later. From Sunday to Tuesday however I am available on the forums and discord is always running for me, but unless the university does decide to unblock the ports Byond use, I am unable to log on the server. Experience How long have you played SS13?: On and off over a course of three years perhaps? Never settled down until I joined Aurora How long have you played on Aurora: Well, apparently 541 days, but I'd say I've settled in Aurora a bit over a year ago. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I'd say Mechanically, I'm proficient in medical, and most science fields, my weakest point would be any advanced form of engineering but even then I'm aware of most mechanics present and could find an answer through the wiki. In terms of general mechanics, I think I'm aware of most things, there may be some things there and there that I've never done but I doubt they're many. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: No. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I've received an antagonist ban for the duration of three days due to my actions being unsavory to the players of that shift as an AI, which I fully admit to, the person issuing this was Garn. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I guess it's that I find enjoyment from it, I've always been a sucker for RPG and would actively attempt to RP in games such as the Paradox series as opposed to gaming the system, SS13 is no different, in fact, I prefer it over many due to the novel and organic nature of interactions and gameplay. Why do you play on Aurora?: I've never truly settled, in fact I was a bit of chucklefuck maybe even a griefer a couple of years back within the bounds of those low RP servers, never really settled with it. Then I decided to join Aurora over a year back, read the rules and and played a few rounds, with my first character being Charlton Lester, I liked the server so much I even made records for him. Point being, I thoroughly enjoy the gameplay of this server, I like the community, I'm aware that I've had some less than savory moments in this game which I've strived to improve and rectify, since I like this server and the enjoyment I'm getting keeps sending me back. What do moderators do?: A moderator as can be inferred from the name moderate the general dealings of the server, from player attitude both from an OOC standpoint and an IC standpoint. They are also present to provide assistance to the player base in the form of adminhelps or through OOC chatter. Furthermore, they aren't supposed to give out punishment at every possible instance when a word or two can rectify this. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: I guess it would mean that you've been entrusted with a certain level of responsibility that is on a volunteer basis. You're trusted to assist in smoothing out the rounds, dealing with complaints and queries from members of the community, along with working with a team of other staff members, which means cohesion is extremely important. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Well, I talked a lot about "pitching" in to the community and the server, and I feel like this might be the more suitable way for me to do this. I've thought of applying for the other open positions but didn't feel like I'd be the right person for those tasks, in fact I spent quite some time deliberating whether or not to write this application. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: Well, this is a tough one to answer, as I feel like this is more something the reviewers will judge me on rather than myself announcing, but here it goes. I feel like I'm a patient person, honest to myself and others, along with the fact I like taking things step by step, like a check list to avoid being overwhelmed. I also understand the biggest issue with retention of people is generally that some burn themselves out, so I'm able to moderate myself without reaching that point, I'd like to cite myself as a regular player for the past year. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I've answered this slightly in the previous question. I feel like I'm patient enough to deal with such situations, and I don't believe it's easy to get under my skin, considering this is a community over the Internet and such statements should be taken with a pinch of salt, joke intended. But if I were to be angry, stress, annoyed or the plethora of other conditions similar to those, I generally won't really be playing the game, but instead venting my frustrations over other activities I have for this specific purpose, but even assuming I were, I'd back out of this situation, explain myself and try to have someone step in for me if it's a moderator issue. Anything Else You Want to Add: I feel like over my time on this server that I as a player have improved the standard of my characters. My first character, Charlton Lester was a PTSD ridden alien hating sol marine vet medic that is currently scarred, prosthetic ridden Robotocist that if measured by a cringe scale, we'd be required to find a replacement of said scale. But from there, I felt like I've improved to having the likes of Raymond Hawkins, arguably my favorite character out of the bunch. I also have had experience as staff of other communities over the years. I've in particular also dealt with recruiting, some aspects of training and software support for new members of Arma unit, which as some of you may know is quite the handful. Another point is that I sense that I'm level headed enough to not get annoyed, nor angry by the IC actions of players from an OOC standpoint, as I understand that's just how the characters are as opposed to the people. This application barring a few changes, is essentially the same thing I've posted on my previous one, which I had to abandon due to sudden obligations that not even a game that is dedicated to 2D Spessman would have been able to stop them.

Bit surprised Raymond Hawkins got second, but on the other hand I expected Dylan Sutton to be first.

[Accepted] Tajara Whitelist Application - Synnono
Faris replied to Synnono's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
No, just for the face you're a feline traitor. On a serious matter, one hundred times yes, I've never had any issues with Synnono at all, I'd give them a +1 without even reading the app, but that wouldn't count for much. Now, what I like about the background story is that a big of vagueness is left in it, there's not some super hyped war scene going on, we're not told everything, it leaves a bit to the imagination, something I like to do myself. The other characters of Synnono are also well done. The OOC aspects of this app are also on par and maybe even beyond what is required. So, the final verdict you say? +1. -
Jane, Jane, Jane. When I first started playing security, Jane was always a very persistent figure, it very much a coin toss if I wanted to Warden with Vile around. It's always a pleasure to have them playing on the same round and I don't believe I've truly ever had a gripe with their security play either. OOC'ly as well, Vile seems like a great person to know. Furthermore, I've had a bit of a discussion about the application with Vile and I don't find any issues with it, in fact, it seems pretty well written. So would I like to see Miss Pyre's potential as a Head of Security? Yes, absolutely +1 from me.
-
Well, usually depends on my freetime, some of my feedback can just be a personal verdict with some info on how I reacted to them either from gameplay standpoint or if I find glaring issues. Alternatively, there have been some apps I've given some in-depth feedback, usually to people I like or have delightful experiences with.
-
Yeah, fam. Just pretend to be clueless. "I mean, I get the general idea, but like... so can you do the engine or... I mean like... If I do it, I'mma fuck up proper, let's be real knowwhatimsayin'?" You made some cool points and this was a fun post to read. Just have that kiddo play the "Son, I dunno how the fuck this shit works" card and get those lazy fuccboys to do work while you help. I feel like the issue is that not everyone can properly think of whether this person is picking said apprentice role to learn the mechanics of the job or that they want to play someone with inexperience or youth.

Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Notable location on Busra. Founding/Settlement Date (if applicable): 10th of September 2458 Region of Space: Republic Of Elyra Other Snapshot information: Long Description: Parliment Declaration: The Busra Memorial The Busra Memorial was an initiative conducted by the Elyran Parliament to house the names of the fallen and missing soldiers along with civilians of the Serene republic of Elyra during the Lii’dra aggression. The site of this would be the location in which the hive ship landed. The site itself would be separated into walls of different sizes also divided into different sections. Section A is reserved to the land forces, B for the planetside Air Force, C for the navy and D for non-combatants. Sections A-C would have their walls separated by their unit or vessel they were stationed in while Section D reserved for non-combatants will be separated by place of birth. Like many other memorials of the fallen, this place would have an honor guard posted in respect and reverence to the martyrs that have laid down their lives in the name of their Republic. We urge our people to pay their respects and due to the fallen. May our martyrs find eternal rest in the beyond. “For greatness, we strive” Rasheed Tatenda

Well, I'm going to have to say a +1 immediately, the background details of this app have me exceptionally curious and interested, even gives me a bit of a mechanicisu WH40k vibe. The sprite also seems well done and it's a bit different than what is usually asked, which also gives me a mechanicus vibe from the color scheme.

Put a hard limit on the number of combat cyborgs.
Faris replied to Ryan Falcorino's topic in Archive
Right, so I may have an unpopular opinion here but I believe that with the recent additions, I believe they are fine as they are. There are multiple ways to counter them or even stop them from happening, it's just up to you to properly counter them. 1. The antag(s) could rush research and blow up the Borgs, destroy robotics, kill/capture the relevant crew member. 2. Most antags have access to ionic weaponry or can acquire them with a bit of effort. 3. Subvert the AI/Synthetics prior to going loud. I'm not going to list all possibilities but that's a few of them, antagonistic roles are supposed to be hard, and with the recent changes and removal of thermals, it's fine. -
[CLOSED] Aboshehab/Sharp Moderator Trial Application
Faris replied to Faris's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
Due to sudden real life obligations within the coming month, thus I am going to withdraw my application for the time being. I would still like to thank the people that have provided me with feedback along with the staff working on it and I would like to apologize for wasting peoples time. -
As a certain Head of Personnel during that round with the sole goal of making sure Indigo reaches the authorities safe and sound, I recall a certain lab assistant with a stun revolver start one of the bloodiest fire fights on this server. You get a +1 from me, the application cited more than enough for me.
