Yuri Daruski Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Personally I am very skeptical of an approval of this application. if not on the negative side of such an action. As others have well stated OOC conduct has been an issue, in some cases IC conduct as well. While I do believe there are cases where perhaps something was said or done in one occasion that doesn't reflect the whole, but from what I've have seen and heard this seems to be a repeating thing. I shall not make those specific cases in this post however, as not to start any sort of drama or incite anyone, and instead focus on what they have said here I hope you all understand. And forgive the likely long windedness .. I'm a university student and apparently work in nothing but essays. These two statements give me some slight caution on how the user sees the head of staff position. I worry they see it much more as a mini-game master role. Included in this second quote seems to point toward a focus on a meta mentality when looking toward antags of the round. Rather than playing the role of one's character more focus is seemed to be placed on combating the antag in question. While there is no doubt a challenge will be posed to an antag during a round, I don't think going specifically out of the way to combat said threat, especially when there is a staffed security, is the purpose of an HoP, if that is what this is implying. The thoughts on Tau Ceti events seemed also a bit bare to me. having a completely new character is a bit of a gamble on my end to recommend, because I have no idea who they will be portrayed in game. This may be a veteran of some gang conflict, a Dominian who worked in a supply chain up the managerial levels, or a baldie who lied on his records. This would have been a great spot to tell us, those looking to give you support, information just /who/ this person is. Perhaps this is a petty argument though. Over the years of myself playing on the Aurora, I havn't really seen the user's players all that often. Whether to chalk that up to just the departments worked being different, being inactive, or perhaps just not being involved in very encompassing RP is left to be interpreted. However the lack of visibility speaks words in itself to me. With that, I can't make much for or against in that regard, other than observed events and other party information. Again, giving what I have heard and seen, I am very skeptical.
Snake2512 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I roleplayed as his stepdad and there were many good times.
Doxxmedearly Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Resi summed up my thoughts perfectly. I know you're a good person, have great characters, and RP well and consistently. No doubt you can handle a head role and make rounds more interesting. I wasn't going to comment either; seemed like a shoe-in because I know you. Maybe a little rough on the edges, but generally a positive person. Dunno what's happened to you lately. You're being a bit sharp since your return (Though I think some of this thread has also been needlessly unfair to you, as well). You've proven yourself in the past, but you're coming back after months-long absence. Old players have gone, new players have come. You've gotta put your best foot forward until people get to know you. Tentative +1 from me, since I know you're better than this.

I'm sure he's got mechanics down pat, but he could work on his OOC conduct. I have not seen if this has bled into his IC behavior. The responses to the questions are.... ok. Why do you want to be Command? I'll answer this more in depth at the same time as Yuri's I'm sure. 32 minutes ago, Yuri Daruski said: These two statements give me some slight caution on how the user sees the head of staff position. Combat is the not the only way to interact and challenge regular players, and that is the same with antags, thinking this way leads to many other issues when actually trying to RP. Security is, even at the best of times, very likely to shoot things, alternatives to this is not a bad thing. And it's less of me seeing the role as a mini-game master as knowing that heads of staff positions are important to how a round flows, ICly and OOCly. Me recognizing this and that being a negative confuses me. Me recognizing this and thinking I can do better, more so. 32 minutes ago, Yuri Daruski said: Since this is a, "Unmade" character, it would have been nice to divulge just who this character might be, however all we get is a name and job title. Born on the HAS Olympus, raised to be loyal to Hephaestus Industries, as any other children of workers who were raised there. After what would be considered a normal childhood for the climate, he began working in logistical roles for the station, eventually finding his way onto a private security vessel, contracted out to do escort work for shipping materials out to the frontier. After working for this vessel for sometime, gaining proficiency telecommunications and more minor command elements were learned from the ship's captain and bridge officers. So after serving six years on the ship, he returned back to Sol for an extended period to begin schooling for higher management positions within the company. A few fuck ups in corporate politics later, and he's back out of Sol, this time heading for Tau Ceti after a few messages about another shot away from previous failings with a reduced price tag. The man himself is easy going enough for someone who's been rocking around in the frontier for extended periods of time, and tries to remain personable, especially given the positions he was aiming for. His ambitions now are more cooled seeing as they've managed to land him in a hot spot, so now seeks a quiet position to think over what other options can be taken, if they need to be at this point. 32 minutes ago, Yuri Daruski said: Overall just … don't think this is the route you should take an application but … that's just me. call it unprofessional or, what have you, but it can be taken in a range of ways, usually toward the end of a negative connotation. I knew of you but I haven't really played with you either, and I can rather clearly recall thinking at several times that I hadn't seen much of you. As the for the app being unprofessional, professionalism is not my aim, I've never made any attempts at it, my aim's been being good at what I do.

Why do you want to be Command? I personally don't think you're giving the applicant a lot of credit by calling him a weenie and then not explaining past "I skimmed past his chat history and he said some things I didn't like that are also in this thread." It's quite the opposite, rather, it seems to be said in that way for the sake of saying it and having a reason to dismiss the application. SeniorScore is a long-time player on the server and his character Ryan McLean is one I recall with substantial clarity both on-server and for the NT relay, plus its text-chat RP apartment servers. SeniorScore is -- well it's easier to explain what he's not. He's not incompetent, he isn't a sycophant, and he's the exact opposite of a bad roleplayer. If I were to grade how a player sits in terms of their overall attitude, competency with mechanics and ability to roleplay, Seniorscore sits well between the middle and the top of the graph. I don't find his attitude at all as offensive as certain members of the community that still exist around here, far from it, in fact, given how I believe Senior sits many rungs up that graph compared to how I view those aforementioned individuals. SeniorScore is certainly opinionated and holds political views some might find to be one of the reasons they don't frequent the political discussion section of the main discord, but I do not personally find such political beliefs relevant to determining the actual character values an individual has. If said individuals are judging SeniorScore alone on the basis that his politics are no bueno, I'd be reticient to believe anyone who thinks that way is remotely close to being a good judge of character. I've held witness to certain 'spats' of his attitude before. It's not the worst or even close to being unacceptable when I've experienced it. I remember mentioning the word "sycophant" before, and SeniorScore does have a tendency to be less than tolerant to individuals who might fit that bill. We're all human beings in the regard of occasionally evaluating how we treat people incorrectly due to not having all of the facts, but it surely hasn't stopped the majority of us from hurling arguments, nasty implications and insults towards other players we disagree with before, some of us who have done that quite recently anyway and will likely do it again if they find the justification to do so. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, as it were. As doxx has said, there's many people who've been needlessly unfair already in how they assert their judgement of the OP, so I'll move off this point. In short, I endorse this application. It is not a tentative endorsement nor an overwhelming "yes yes yes", it's a moderate endorsement. There are mild concerns I have but I trust SeniorScore to not misuse his role. Being slightly mean-spirited on occasion doesn't forfeit your whitelist, otherwise literally no one who has posted in this thread would at all have a good metric to be able to endorse other people for command whitelists. Lady Fowl Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 +I have gotten to interact with the player abit more and have decided to change my support to +1. They have shown they are able to handle situations calmly and with a level head and have improved from the past issues mentioned
