The Station is too large, its size is directly influencing roleplay, creating and promoting isolation, which is counter intuitive to what people actually want in a roleplay server. I am not saying the station can't be big, but I am saying that the space it does use should have little negative space. I would love to get feedback concerning this issue.

I disagree. I've never felt isolated in my department, and I feel its current size is ideal and optimal. "Little negative space" will just lead to cramped, horrible areas like old R&D.

I disagree. Almost all latest remaps (that have made areas bigger, for example) have made the map better. Some areas are rarely used, I agree, but most of them make the space station believable.

The ONLY remaps we need are ones that make use of the mid deck, and extend maintenance between decks. Honestly, put the service and dorm shit on the mid deck, main deck is for work stations. I dunno. But too big? No, hardly. The station is tiny, really. - t. guy that spends his rounds moving around the station

It's an optimal size currently. The main deck isn't too different from our old Boxstation map in size, and the main deck is what sees the most use outside of the sublevels (which effectively replaced outposts).

I'm not typically against size reduction, but the overall station handles things quite fine. I'd only argue for reduction in the size of all the departments to push people towards the front/center a little further, but even this hasn't really proven necessary from my experience so far.

Putting shit on another deck is how you don't map multi-z, it would only further exacerbate any problem one may feel in 'too large', and is downright awful for anything less than mega-high pop. Look at Bay's Torch and Polaris' Southern Cross as excellent examples of how not to map multi-z.

I think the map's areas should be reorganized, as they do not make much sense as they are currently, as the map is currently a bit of a Frankenstein thing that we've been putting together for years. About the size, it's probably just a matter of reducing certain spaces that we truly don't need, or are underused, and keeping the larger ones that are actually used. But the actual work areas have an okay size, barring Cargo and Security possibly, which are larger than what they should, and could be compacted into smaller areas with the same functionality.

What we really need, is a map that is designed by a single person, and mapped by a closely coordinated few mappers. This is kind of an impossible thing right now, but it would be ideal in the case of a remap happening.
