Pratepresidenten
BYOND key: Pratepresidenten Character names: Mix, Noel Durstine, M1-X(Android), VALID.exe(AI). How long have you been playing on Aurora?: ~8 months Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: To keep medical organized, and to keep that medical incompetence we all know and love to a bare minimum. Why did you come to Aurora?: I used to play on Yog, and as fun as that is, it was a too fast paced mess of super short rounds where there was basically no word exchanges apart from someone knocking on the window saying “Borg me”. So I came to Aurora on a note that it was slow paced, high roleplay stuff. And boy was it a pleasant change of pace! Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yuppers! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: My definition of roleplay would be that you put yourself in your character's shoes, you think and act like they would, with the knowledge and skills they have, and you interact with others accordingly. Quirks, emotes and level of roleplay skills can either make a "scene" something good, or something great. Being courteous to your fellow players is a must, because forced or no rp scenarios tend to be pretty shitty towards other parties. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of Heads of staff would be someone you know you can go to for information regarding the field you work in, someone that knows their department in and out, and are expected to perform exceptionally within their field. They are the boss of their department, and should be your go-to for anything department related. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: OOC responsibilities? I would say someone you could ask for advice or help, to be a role model I suppose. As for how I would uphold things? Well, I dont really get pissy over being ganked or subjected to validhunting bullshit, if there's something that irks me, I clear it up in looc. I tend to stay cool and levelheaded in almost all situations. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Mix Character age: Its chassis is ~6 months old, but its "consciousness" would be around 12 years. Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): On the 6th of June, 2458 the bound android M1-X’s consciousness and data was copied and downloaded onto its new positronic brain, before it was carefully integrated with its new unbound chassis. It lay dormant on the assembly table for a considerable amount of time as its brain was trying to compartmentalize and store the vast amount of knowledge from its database. Failing to integrate properly caused it to trigger a database purge, pruning everything that wasn’t important to it, sacrificing large portions of knowledge, routines and protocols to be able to store and maintain the core knowledge of the things it held dear. As soon as it had processed this huge task, its screen lit up as it took control of the new chassis, pushing itself into a sitting position as it stared motionlessly at the assisting scientist before uttering a single word; “Greetings.” The following months, it was put through extensive testing to ensure its functionality and skill, pushing it to its limit to map out what information had been retained and what had been lost. It was also put through a series of social integration classes to improve its social skill and personality traits, as it had expressed a desire to better fit in. As it felt it was ready for reintroduction to a working environment, it put in an application to NanoTrasen, respectfully requesting it be assigned to the medical division onboard the NSS Exodus. What do you like about this character?: Its dedication to its work, trying to compensate for its decrease in efficiency due to its new chassis, by making sure paperwork is in order and patient consent is given for various medical procedures. What do you dislike about this character?: Probably that it will avoid conflict as much as it can. Engaging a hostile is something that it wouldn’t think about doing, knowing how easily its chassis could be severely damaged. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: Well, it would be ideal for head of staff due to being mechanical. It won’t be afflicted by disease or toxic substances, nor will it let its judgement be compromised due to strong emotions such as rage or fear. It’s an efficient machine that’s determined to do its job, and making sure all required paperwork is signed all those working under it are doing their jobs to a satisfactory standard. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: Personally I’d rate it average to good. I tend to blank out or lose my train of thoughts from time to time, making for awkward pauses. But I usually manage to get things back on track relatively quickly. There’s always room for improvement, and I am trying my best! Extra notes: I will not be taking on the head position instantly if this application should be accepted, because I want my character to earn its place as CMO icly. I want others to see Mix as a polite and reliable doctor, and seek it out for its medical expertise and professionalism. Link to comment
Lohikar
Seems to know what he's doing, and his roleplay is great. Application itself looks good as well. +1, look forward to seeing you in command. Link to comment
Synnono
Chief Mix, Chief Mix, Chief Mix! Seriously though, Pratepresidenten is capable, respectful and aware. While I'm still getting to know them as a player, they have never given me any reason to doubt any of the things they've written in their application. Medical feels understaffed quite a lot of the time recently, and having a sane and knowledgeable player be in charge of medbay would be great. I also like that while the player's applications have been fast, they intend to roleplay a path to promotion. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:The OOC purpose of Heads of staff would be someone you know you can go to for information regarding the field you work in, someone that knows their department in and out, and are expected to perform exceptionally within their field. They are the boss of their department, and should be your go-to for anything department related. This is the question I seem to ask everyone to clarify for me - do you think there's anything more to this? What are you responsible for in a round as a player? I like to think that it's more than just your IC department. Edited November 15, 2016 by Guest Link to comment
Pratepresidenten
@Synnono As I got this question clarified a bit further, I'd have to say the oocly head of staff's round responsibility would be to keep people informed of whats happening during different situations (If applicable), give them something to make them able to further their own rp among themselves or with command. Tequilajoe
Having encountered Mix and Noel Dustine many times now, Pratepresidenten's ability to RP is indisputably excellent. I can also vouch for his knowledge of game mechanics; I've seen Mix countless times working in medical and is definitely one of the better players in the department at any given time. Now that I can see Mix on the manifest, I always keep an eye out for him before I decide to do something dangerous But seriously, I cant think of any better player to play CMO that isnt already a CMO. +1 Link to comment
Coalf
I've met Mix both as an IPC and M1-X as a cyborg and both encounters were a joy. But It has been barely a week since Mix as an IPC came to be and already applying for a heads of staff? I honestly think you need a bit more time as both an IPC and as a medical doctor in order to be a CMO, being a CMO is not only about knowing the game but also being a people person and optimizing your department so they can be as effective as possible. But that is just my humble opinion. Link to comment
Pratepresidenten
Which is why I wrote in the extra notes section that I would not immediately be taking the position as CMO if I was accepted. Its gonna be earned icly, no matter how long it will take. Gonna earn my right! Link to comment
Coalf
Well durr hurr Coalf, good job you fucking idiot. I apologize for not being able to read. So no issue from me. +1 Link to comment
Faris
Seems like Needle has competition coming its way, which is not a bad thing so to speak. I've had the pleasure of playing with his characters with a multitude of mine, some with hate, indifference or even have a likeness to his character. So I feel like a +1 wouldn't be out of place for this. Link to comment
TishinaStalker
respectfully requesting it be assigned to the medical division onboard the NSS Exodus. Considering how recent the whole data purge and integration things were? Absolutely not going to pass for head of staff at all. I'd like to see a different character before I go about judging your application because the character you're applying with has to be a character that could legitimately be a head of staff. Pratepresidenten
Im sorry to hear that! I can kinda see that you feel its being a bit early, but that was also the reason I said I'd earn the right, not just plop on as CMO one round and be like "Dis muh job nao, lol". But in all seriousness, though. You say my character is incapable of be a head of staff? I was under the impression that IPCs were fully capable of working as CE, RD or CMO. Or are you simply just refering to my character in particular? Link to comment
sonicgotnuked
M1-X is one of my favorite androids. I never really interacted with with Mix. But I think they would make a great head of staff. Link to comment
Nikov
M1-X is so competent it is a synth Manfred will trust to stick a knife in him. I believe the player can fulfill this role, and an IPC CMO really doesn't seem out of ... parameters. Doubly so if its a well-trusted doctor IPC. Link to comment
