Wiebman Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Issa Sanitation technician/Sanitation expert or something like that. And/or custodian.
Fire and Glory Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 Tbh I was wondering if someone else wanted to be able to call janitors maids after seeing the thread title. Although on one hand people/janitors generally seem to like the idea of calling themselves something fancy like 'technician', on the other hand...Alternative job titles usually denote that the title is responsible for caring for some specific part of the job, no? You've got your engine technicians who do engine stuff, and your surgeons who are generally expected to do more surgeoning than doctoring, and so on. And off the top of my head I don't recall any job titles that acted as the exception to this. I don't really think janitorials is a complicated enough job to need the work split into designated sub-jobs.

Before detective and forensic were split into two, it was just the same job with two titles. I think it's just more of a (minor but fun) choice.
Wiebman Posted May 18, 2017 Author Posted May 18, 2017 I like "Custodians" better than "Janitors". Custodian works too. (: Just not janitors. Maybe concierge as well?
Pratepresidenten Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Custodial Engineer is a nice alt title for it.
Guest Menown Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Janitors and Custodians are two different jobs. Janitors come at certain times, usually night or morning. While a custodian is staffed during the day. Custodians also tend to have more duties than simple janitors, who usually just clean, empty trash, ect. EDIT: Mentioning this as they're two similar jobs, with different responsibilities. If an alt-title is actually added, it should be Janitorial Technician, as stated in the Corporate Finances section of our wiki.
Scheveningen Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Custodians do more than clean. They manage and appraise private property. And in some cases, public property as well. Cemeteries are great examples.

Not like we've had jobs with widely varying duties lopped under the same banner before. Though custodian has two definitions, and is probably not the best option. Custodial engineer or sanitation technician or whatever else would most likely be better.
Arrow768 Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 I dont see a reason why not to. We have quite a few alt titles in other jobs already. Just take the medbay, We have Medical Doctor, Surgen, Emergency Physician.
Skull132 Posted May 25, 2017 Posted May 25, 2017 Coders are currently busy building up ZLevel code and executing already planned projects. Can't promise much until new map meme ends.
LordFowl Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Voting for Dismissal. Alternate job titles should come with alternate job responsibilities, which I don't really ever see happening for janitors.
LordFowl Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Which is not something we should replicate. For counter-example, the miner alternate titles were removed with the removal of the industrial drill from spawn.
