Brightdawn Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 As it stands there is only really one punishment rank on the main discord which is “Meme” and why it’s given is very broad I’ve heard of some people getting it for simply saying democracies are better. Given that this /IS/ the official discord of the server I think there should be some rules put in place and punishments less of a joke. I’m aware that the current rules of the In game server apply there But I’d argue that there should be some specific rules drafted up for the Discord itself as it’s a separate entity from the game. One suggestion I do have for this however is that there continues to be a dedicated “Shitposting” room where the rules are much looser. The ones about porn, meta and Ic in OOC etc should remain perhaps some of the more nebulous ones like “Don’t be a dick” shouldn’t apply as much in there. After all if you join a dedicated shitposting channel you should be aware of what’ll happen.
Skull132 Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 I'm generally against rules on Discord beyond the obvious ones. I don't know why, but I feel like rules would ruin its atmosphere and enable lawyering. Thus far, there hasn't been a major issue because of the lack of rules, IMO. The only thing worth reviewing in here is Shadow's insistence on meme-ing people who post anime or something like that. But that's up to him and Garn to bash out, IMO. Scheveningen Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Unneeded. Striking system works to my liking. "Meme" rank is for shitposters who ought to not shitpost if they don't want to be memed. It acts as a filter for people who continuously post nothing of value outside of #trashcan. If they want to participate in meaningful discussion, then they merely need to ask to be broken out of the Meme jail.
NoahKirchner Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Any time you try to restrict a discord too much people just get mad. There are different interpretation of rules in a situation not as rigid as roleplay ingame since you're just talking and discussions can go a lot of different ways.
UnknownMurder Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Unneeded... people who continuously post nothing of value outside of #trashcan. If they want to participate in meaningful discussion, then they merely need to ask to be broken out of the Meme jail. Take a look at this screenshot. This is your definition of value? It looks like shitposting to me. http://imgur.com/cdOFX8R Here's what I think of the "meme" jail. It's easy to get out if you know the right people. I've been placed in it twice and got out within a day. It doesn't mean an official punishment and is just way wherein staffs unofficially punishes a player for being goofball. Hell, I've seen players quit discord server then join back in to avoid the bad meme jail.
Brightdawn Posted June 30, 2017 Author Posted June 30, 2017 But I deleted this post because it was a bad idea who brought it back :
LordFowl Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Deleting posts is an administrative action. I do not believe the end user has proper ability to do it, even on their own posts (provided there are replies to said post). Simply ask for a suggestion to be binned if you have abandonded it.
Shadow Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 I meme people for posting anime in the general channel. And if they shitpost too much. If you want to do either of those you can go to the trashcan(s) and do it there.
Garnascus Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 I meme people for posting anime in the general channel. And if they shitpost too much. If you want to do either of those you can go to the trashcan(s) and do it there. As an american i understand and recognize every individual's right to post anime memes. I never meme someone for it. Unfortunately shadow owns the player discord. i think its silly but memeing egregious shitposting is fine.
Scheveningen Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 ^ Not actually garn posting, Voltage hacked Garnascus' account. Sorry about that.
UnknownMurder Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 Bump. There are still shitposting on #general, is this being looked at?
Guest Complete Garbage Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Bump. There are still shitposting on #general, is this being looked at? The strike system that is in place works quite well. Punishment ranks aren't really necessary. If you see people shitposting in general, ping the admins and they'll use their best judgement, applying strikes as needed. The meme rank is pretty much a meme in and of itself; it's silly and lighthearted and it's not really bothering anyone.
Scheveningen Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Otherwise, get over it. We're not going to control what discussions are being undertaken in #general. If you don't like it when people are posting about silly stuff, and you cannot get over the fact some people want to just have fun and chill, then leave the discord or mute the channels that offend your sensibilities. Our discord server may be a "no bullshit" zone, but that literally just means anything other than intentionally stirring drama is fine. The only time we're going to step in is when people are; 1.) Being intentionally provocative or trolling. 2.) Metagaming over discord. 3.) Posting explicit or NSFW content ANYWHERE on the main server discord. 4.) Personally harassing other individuals over discord. These are listed in the second announcement just below the first pin in #announcements, for reference.
