Personal preference. Physiologically lock it so it isn't silly.

idk, it seems like human heads are shaped normally enough that they'd be able to fit any helmets. Taj need special ones because ears, Skrell because head-tails, Nathi because horns. Humans don't have any of that, so I don't see why it'd be uncomfortable or impossible for them to wear a helmet that has a couple extra spaces for ears/head-tails/horns.

I wouldn't be against a flat-out 'you feel uncomfortable' span for all hardsuits, though. Space suits are not renowned for their comfort.

You cannot tell me that Skrell helmets wouldn't be too loose for a human head because giant frog head. Also, their dumb tentacles would create extra weight on the back of your helmet, and really throw you off.
