metabaiting won't change anything if security doesn't metagame.

thats like asking engineering if it needs more voidsuits and insulated gloves

best advice i can give is only be a 'social' traitor if people who will play along are on.

taking hostages never works because the station is full of rambos who will gladly let any hostage die for their chance to be the 'hero' because cloning is so easy.

pretty sure something like this would need a ground up rebuild of the core ss13 mechanics, which is why it always gets shot down.

better yet, make it so you can plant fingerprints on them have calling card in hand and hug a person while targeting the hand to imprint their fingerprint on the calling card

I was thinking of you when I had that idea, and it really fit in well with the theme of it

I was thinking keeping it to mice because they're almost always ignored and can be shoved under a table and left to record conversations like a mobile bug. I could see it being put on a monkey or something of the sort too, for more complicated ops (seeing how monkeys can pick stuff up ect..) but I thought that might be a little too.. useful? not the right word

the only way i'd be ok with windows on firedoors is if they have 1 tile visibility like tinted glass. and even then its still a no imo
-
look i understand everything you're saying but still, just no. You said you killed everyone opening a shutter, which goes back to my original 'if you aren't engineering, don't open shutters' the only thing i agree with is that you should be able to hear across them.

observe a door and it gives you a ton of information, probably more than is reasonable tbh

if i were loremaster i'd write in a plague that wiped out all non-human xenos #exterminatus

As an engineer, this will be useful. but please dont, you don't need to see whats on the other side of the door, just don't touch it. Its as simple as that. If you REALLY need to see whats on the other side, go to a camera console. if you don't have access to a camera console you don't actually need to see whats on the other side of the door, you just want to see whats on the other side of the door. Personally, I'd go the other way. Double the time it takes to force open emergency doors with crowbar, keep it the same with fire axe, and have everything id locked so only engineers and stupid security officers can go through emergency doors

I just want to note that engineering already has the capability to send limited communications to drones with the computers next to drone fab machines. edit - just saw that someone already brought them up. And no, just because they're not used doesn't mean they're useless. All in all, this role would accomplish something that we already have the ability to do. If drone sat around and did nothing without pings rather than trying to be hats and leaking oil on peoples heads, maybe engineering would spend more than 15 seconds thinking about dronefab

SO I had this idea looking at the mouse gank topic (and somewhat inspired by Wanted) and thought hey, these critters should be actually USEFUL for something. Here's how I see it working. Antag pays the TCs to get a control collar and it can be fit onto any neutral small sprite (basically, mouse or lizard) and once worn, it can never be removed because it ties into the nervous system and the brain. Conceptually, I'm thinking it should take 1 TC for the collar. Second, there will be a control module which, when activated (header activation, like flashlights ect), would immobilize the player character and take control of the mouse in the same way that a cortical borer can take over another player. As for the control module, what I'm thinking right now would be an 'upgraded' headset key. can be popped in or out, totally incognito on an examine but, if worn, will have the control switch. So what benefit is this? well, first the collar would be fitted with a receiver which broadcasts to people who have the control module inserted in their headset. Now, this is broadcast to everyone, on a channel not monitored by the ai so you can theoretically set up two way communication but thats an aside for now. You can get the mouse into the head briefing room, sneak it under the table, and wait for a meeting with CCIA to sell info, for example. Last 'feature' is more of a safety measure for the user, if the mouse wearing the control collar gets stomped, the collar will self destruct with damage equivalent to a detomax. Not a ton, but something that can put you on your ass. the idea is still very much a work in progress, but I wanted to get my major ideas down before i forgot them

I think the issue is a fundamental misunderstanding of what mice are in the game. You are not a character when your mouse, the point of a mouse is not to role-play it is to give you something to Dick around and stay in the game until next round. Killing you as the mouse is not gank. However, I'm going to make a suggestion soon in regards to nice I just need to flesh out some mechanics
-
idk i wouldn't be complaining about dying as a mouse the janitor has an entire kit devoted entirely to killing them. If you want to observe something and not play a part in it, there is the observe option. Not saying don't be a mouse, I'm just saying that you should expect to be treated like a mouse. at best you are a piece of disposable lab equipment.

alternatively you can swap the gateway and garden and eat into the incredibly large library or extend it out a bit but im no mapper so i dunno how that'll affect things outside the picture
-
might I suggest a fruit chute? botanist can just dump the food in and then it spits out into the kitchen onto a table
-
people haven't got these yet? its been how long? i got my old records like a week after changeover
-
Nikov, thats not a threat thats a promise

what happened to ATLAS or are political parties not really involved in this

you can't look sexy in welding goggles and a bandana with the welding helmet or if you want to be correct, it doesn't block the engineering helmet mounted flashlight slot
-
The only thing welding needs is superior welding goggles to have a mechanical benefit over normal welding goggles. As it stands, they do literally nothing except have a different color

It's one of the main reasons. I kept pressing ; when i was supposed to press : as an AI and kind of embarrased myself...It was really annoying..I also could not see the text properly but whatever.. Still stalking the forum..... ah well you just get used to it, this was annoying when i started playing
