if you need a fireaxe, either ask an engineer to unlock the case or smash it open (you CAN break the glass, after all) If we give multi tools to doctors just give a chem dispenser to science and a sleeper to engineering

I think a better alternative would be to allow engineering to deliver a lethal shock to anyone using a crowbar to force open a shutter but thats just me

i just don't see how, in the future, a new church becomes dominant among humanity people are getting less religious, not more. And many practicing followers do so because it is their cultural heritage. Very few are joining for societal benefits (really, only scientology) I just can't imagine a unity church. If anything, Sol would officially be secular and would allow its members to practice any faith they wanted.

Now, we've all had the experience where we get grabbed, headset stripped off, and then killed. I'm not saying make this impossible, i'm saying we should force a bit more strategy on this. The headset unit is a speaker earpiece combo, removing it from the head would obviously remove the earpiece from use, but the speaker would still be functional. I say let us use the headset if its on the SAME tile as us, and broadcast as if you were two tiles away and overhear a whisper to account for the speaker distance from the mouth. so like, headset on head, fully functional headset on floor below you, can't hear, broken broadcast headset anywhere else, doesn't work

i'd love this if for nothing more than streamlining access and having the icon for sec hud. Have it on the consoles, make it entirely up to command staff to authorize the half-step, non-whitelisted but require paperwork (allowing someone to break into the office and print themselves an ID while making it so its possible they get caught for not having proper authorization Sidenote - this would encourage people to have full records. Nobody is going to promote a blank record person to senior position

A global church (placeholder named Church of the Unity) becoming the dominant religion of humanity in the 22nd~23rd centuries would let us do a lot of things, in my mind. It would give Sol-centric characters a unique flavor to them, and would either allow frontier/outer colonies characters to be adherents or having specifically left to get away from the weirdly religious Sol Alliance that doesn't tolerate faiths based on the pre-Alliance humanity which was ununited and disorganized and all sorts of foul adjectives. Or their ancestors, the original colonists from Earth, choosing to leave the planet with the additional push factor of wanting to get away from this whole "Unity is Life" global phenomenon threatening their own faith and institutions. Chaplains that preached Unity ideals would be close to Sol. This gives them a cultural and political aspect as well as spiritual, since Tau Ceti is the bastard-child that Nanotrasen kidnapped and Sol is angrily trying to call CPS to bring them back home for a good beating and lecture on worshipping the Great Aardvark. I've had in Xullie's background that he is a member of the Mars Catholic Church, a sect of Roman Catholicism but under the purview of the Archbishop of Olympia mainly because after we ruled Earth was still standing, naturally Vatican City still stood

basically this sums it up real well although i think engineering is way safer than it has ever been. it has its pros and cons, and i always told new players to learn to play ss13 as an engineer so they can understand the underlying mechanics of the game. Back about a year ago I tried to organize an inservice training day, something like rudimentary engineering skills, beginner EVA/ CPR refresher course but literally nobody joined up in game again, however, i think a major issue is that there just isn't enough for engineering to do. Its boring these days, our construction area is way off in maint so we can't even make a public expansion (although its better for nefarious purposes). Its just too easy to run everything from the control room.

it might be easier to do a bit more atmos foolery, have nitrous oxide in the distro and increase pressure to knock out people in a room, THEN syphon the air out (but you need to play with alarm bounds first to not get an atmos alert)

well, if isolated you can crush someone to death with a door disable the timing and the uh... idk what its called, the sensor? then you can open and close a door on a person until they die (or are severely injured) this is very very loud though

I'm a main engineer (Xullie) RCON isn't that complicated, only took me shutting down station power once (oops) to figure it out i always offer to teach new engineers the ropes, but i'm not as active as I used to be

PDA message to heads of staff, maybe to IAA, and to AI allows for antags to prepare if they have seized a pda (but they have to actively monitor the device) and if messenger service is disabled, well, idk then. maybe have a dedicated response to the AI so the message will always get out or a fax back to station

problem with drug trade is sourcing imo nothing is private enough to actually grow illegals in hydroponics, and chemistry has limited job slots Best I did was on a 4 hour extended round where I got dirt from hydroponics and made a drug bar with secret doors in the construction zone in engineering, was able to make ambrosia oil and then coat cigs in the stuff but never got around to actually distributing (or finding people to distribute to) it just takes so long to actually get something going and rounds ending at 2 hours makes it borderline impossible to actually accomplish anything. As for how to solve THAT issue, well we'd have to figure out a way to bring in illicits in loadout. Would have the secondary effect of making sec checkpoint actually useful as well (though gateway/ cryo bypasses that, as well as round start in departments)

my problem with rev is there is no reasonable thing to revolt about currently. pay slashed so you go out murdering your bosses who you might have worked with for 10+ years icly? no, you quit and find another job. we need a better reason to revolt that might actually help bring people in. Maybe something that actually takes backstories and citizenships into account. Breakout of civil war in Sol Alliance, Tau Ceti uprising, anything that might pit people against eachother and the heads of staff.
