Sue's Moderator Application
TishinaStalker replied to Susan's topic in Moderator Applications Archives
Nobody wants to say something nice about Sue? Alright, somebody has to bring /something/ nice because everybody has a good thing to them, and I believe everybody should at least be given at least one leg to stand on to have a fighting chance. This next Dea quote definitely applies for me due to the nature of my post. Here goes, Even my interactions with Sue as a friend have been usually filled with insults, I can say that she doesn't really mean any of those. Sure, Sue can come off as "ABSURDLY hostile" as LetzShake mentioned, but that's simply part of her non-professional personality. In situations like these, you can't judge someone's personality for a situation /entirely/ off of their casual personality. Why? Because personalities change based on the situation. Lets take me for example: I will not lie, I have a real cursing issue, and I think people on Team Speak can tell that from a glance. It's not rare at all to hear me say the word "fuck" or "shit" repeatedly in a sentence, no matter what my tone or what I'm talking about is, but this is when I'm talking with people that I know that don't or won't care. Would I talk like this with my parents? With my boss at work? With my professor? No, I would not because situations like those require more finesse. In a situation like being a moderator, I have no doubt Sue's personality would also adjust to the situation just like most people. I can tell with certainty that her casual personality would not rub off on her personality as staff, and I've witnessed this as an administrator on Exogenesis. On Exogenesis, our coders practically had the same power as an administrator due to our low staff count, and Sue never really went postal on a person through ahelps from what I had seen (and I was on Exogenesis almost every single day until it died) until they were being offensive to her and showing no signs to show any relent; at which point, she would give them a final word, and apply a ban if I was not online or was busy with homework. Aside from bashing her for this, I'm going to give my Pragmatist solution: I would suggest to have a staff member to test Sue on this and if she fails, then to tell her how it could've been handled in a more calm, levelheaded manner, and work with her on this to improve things. Everybody can learn from past mistakes. Don't define the final product by its prototype phase because the final product can always contain either minor differences or a BIG difference. In conclusion, your casual personality is /not/ your personality for every single situation. I'm TishinaStalker, and this is my +1 on why Sue should at least be given a shot as a Trial Moderator. -
Actually, we do have items that should be worn on the neck, but are equipped to your mask slot instead. One of those is the holobadge chain for security officers. I don't think anybody ever uses it because: 1) You need other, more important things on that slot like a mask. 2) It makes no sense that you're not able to wear a necklace AND a mask. 3) Nobody wants to imagine that they have a necklace wrapped around their face instead of their neck.

I do believe Jackboot is stating that in order to show others what he does in order to give them some form of guidance on what to do.

Rebecca Inn is engaged to Dennis Hachert; Milo Hachert's twin brother. She identifies which is which through their voice, behavior, and the fact that Dennis often has a beard. When Dennis shaves though, Rebecca has a fear in the back of her head about whether she's about to hug the right twin or not.

This is literally me. Server? North America! Wait... Why would that mean that you're shit? Not being in Bronze alone shows that you have skill. Also, man, we can all just play in a full, five-man team, and then you won't have to worry about people like that on your team at least. I think we can trust each other to not be "that guy". I personally don't care about each person's skill; I just care about playing the game and having a blast.

Fun Facts About....well, Ourselves!
TishinaStalker replied to incognitojesus's topic in Off Topic Discussion
Definitely posted there. Thanks, Frances! -
My summoner in League is grimArachnid. My most favorite position is jungling (in my opinion, it is the most fun position in the whole game [playing dat Godyr]), but I've also been an avid top laner since season 2, and I also enjoy playing mid lane (Mordekaiser and Anivia mostly) and support (fabulous Taric). The only position I suck nuts at is ADC pretty much. If you ask me if I want to play League, then I will say "Yes" almost 99% of the time. Edit: I'm also online almost all day, hoping for someone to want to play because everybody on my hall is too busy playing Guild Wars 2.Curse you Guild Wars 2 for taking my friends from me by being such an AMAZING game!

Fun Facts About....well, Ourselves!
TishinaStalker replied to incognitojesus's topic in Off Topic Discussion
I follow the seven virtues of Bushido, and try to apply them in my day-to-day life: Respect/Duty, courage, benevolence, rectitude, honesty, honor, and loyalty; gi, yūki, jin, rei, makoto, meiyo, chūgi. I taught myself English. When I was born, I spent the entire first year of my life in a hospital due to unexplainable fevers, and my parents always had the TV on to American cartoons. From there, I started picking up on the language. My first word was "brother" and then "hermana" which is Spanish for sister. I could also read and write at a fifth grade level while in first grade; one of the things that led to my diagnosis of being autistic. One of my teachers had been talking about my "strange" behavior (preferred keeping to myself, would read about science and history at the library during recess instead of playing with other kids, and would be picked on for being weird in general by most people in my class) and my skill in language one day on her break, the school counselor overheard it, and asked my parents to get me tested for a "spectrum disorder". I am an avid League of Legends player, and can be seen playing that almost all the time in my free time. Have been playing since season 2, and my friends always look to me for advice or opinions in lane match-ups, what's going on in the match, patch notes, etc. It is near impossible to make me angry. The only thing that has ever made me genuinely angry this year, is lagging or disconnecting during a League of Legends match. I value honesty above everything, and enjoy receiving criticism up-front rather than through a medium. I do not smoke, drink or use any recreation drugs. I think some people call that being "straight edge" from what I've heard on campus? I find that term hilarious because it sounds like what is used to divide lines of cocaine, so I've never used it to identify myself because of the term "conflict of interest". I am the youngest of three, and our skin tones are relevant to our time of birth somehow. My sister was born at noon, and has tan skin. My brother was born at night, and has the darkest skin in the family. I was born at 8 AM, and have the lightest skin in the family. I look damn well with a "candado" (lock) as the facial hairstyle is called in Spanish. As I don't know what it's called in English, have this image of one! http://hombresconestilo.com/files/2009/06/barba-candado.png -
If we're on the topic of being able to create life as one of these jobs, then why not make them be able to create grey slimes? This would create a sort of cooperation between Geneticist/Virologist and Xenobiologist; all of which are generally isolated jobs that keep to themselves.

This has probably been one of the things that has bothered me the most. Blood pool shows up, "EVERYBODY GET TO IT", and then we have spoopy ghost writing all over the floors. I guess I've never really minded one or two when the round type blatantly says cult instead of secret, but sometimes it gets to ridiculous levels. During one cult round, there was a small bloodbath outside of the bar, and one ghost wrote at least four times "Jaylor is one of them" I personally believe that this little mechanic is either abused to high hell to fill the place with spoopy ghost writing, or used to do some weird form of IC metagame. One thing that I could recommend, is that if a mechanic like this is to stay, then to restrict it somewhat like messages in Dark Souls where you can only use words already determined by the game. Some messages that could be seen in Dark Souls with the use of orange guidance soapstones being: "Good luck", "Danger ahead", "Touch tail", etc. Ultimately, I think that would be somewhat annoying to code in though. Still, just my two cents.

Basic Information Byond Account:TishinaStalker Character Name(s):Integra Langley, Frankie Inn, Rebecca Inn, and Sarah Inn. AI Name(s):None. Preferred means of contact (specify a program/means, exact details can be requested/provided through private channels): Steam without a doubt because BYOND is way too buggy. I've noticed that BYOND lags to high hell if you receive a message while it's not up front on your monitor. http://gyazo.com/02ee86369d2b5363f40111a6d34d8fb4 On this image is my profile when searched through Steam in order to help you identify me. Do inform me over BYOND though if you're going to add me on Steam, just so I won't panic and ignore your request; in the case that I do not recognize your username. I am also just straight up posting my profile because I do not have any personal information on it to begin with, keeping my anonymity intact. Age: 19 Timezone: CST When are you on Aurora?: I normally only play on weekends, but I can be online starting at 9 AM (CST) on weekdays and then around 1 PM (CST) on weekends; all the way through to midnight. I may not play on weekdays, but I'll definitely keep an eye out for ahelps or suspicious things when possible, as I am allowed to use my laptop during my college courses, and it does not affect my performance in said course. Experience How long have you played SS13?: About two and a half years. How long have you played on Aurora: Since July 30th or so. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I like to think I'm knowledgeable in them. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I became a moderator for Exogenesis (another heavy RP server) back on June 25th. After three weeks, I was promoted to administrator (being the only (normally active) administrator in Exogenesis' staff). A couple weeks further, the server owner (Hoknar), was chatting with me over Skype, and he told me that I "practically run the server. If you think someone would make a good moderator, then a moderator they are!" He then put me in charge of handling whitelist applications, moderator applications, ban appeals, and I was practically a headministrator in all but name. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: I have not, and I'm making 100% sure that it stays that way. The only issues I have ever had with administration is me forgetting to unbucklecuff people after setting their timers, but even then I never stayed out of the brig when there was someone I brigged, so the issues would always be corrected immediately. Personality Why do you play SS13?: Honestly, I started out in GoonStation because I enjoyed all the randomness of the server, but then I grew weary of it, and was wondering if there was such a thing as RP servers on SS13. Then I found Exogenesis, and that's where I've been playing since before coming to Aurora. Why do you play on Aurora?: Because I enjoy heavy RP and the community, honestly. Not much to it aside from that. What do moderators do?: We handle most of the grief basically. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: The same that it means in most RP servers I assume. You're someone that's there to help, answer questions, potentially give antags ideas on how to create RP (upon request), safeguard the players from bald thirty year old men, etc. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I wish to become a moderator in order to be able to give back to Aurora. Ever since Exogenesis died due to inactivity, I looked for an RP server to call home, and I found Aurora. Honestly, I just really enjoying being able to help people! What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I have infinite amounts of patience. In the rare occasions that I do get mad, then I take a couple of deep breaths, and ask for someone else to handle it before I either step away from the computer (PMing a troublesome player) or quietly fix something while listening to music in order to avoid doing anything drastic that I will regret. Aside from that, I'm also a very nice person (I believe words like "hate" and "dislike" are real burden and I don't even know what the word "stress" means) that deeply enjoys helping people. Aside from that, I use intuition to foresee when grief is going to happen. On weekdays I tend to not play at /all/, unless I have no homework for the next day. So when I'm not playing, it's hard to not find me on the server as a ghost, keeping an eye out for players, and an ear out for ahelps. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Very well. SueTheCake is a witness of how nice, patient, and polite I am back when we were on Exogenesis' staff. I'll always keep calm and colleted; even when they're insulting my mother or anything like that. When I do get mad, then I just step out of the room and clear my mind by drawing, writing or playing guitar. I used to have anger issues as a kid and teenager, but my psychologist helped show me how to get over it, and it has never failed me since. Anything Else You Want to Add: I am an English major and Puerto Rican (fluent in both languages, and dabbling a bit in French)! Who would have thought, right? Writing, making stories, developing characters, etc. has /always/ been a passion of mine ever since I was a wee lad. In fact, I run TTRPG (Tabletop Role Playing Game) campaigns every weekend night (although this will not stop me from paying attention and keeping an ear out for ahelps), and I even make my own additions to TTRPG systems. Recently, I've been working on additions to a TTRPG system called Dungeons the Dragoning 40k in order to center it more around character development! The best way I can express my thoughts, feelings, and ultimately, myself, is through writing as I occasionally stumble in speech and am easily flustered while talking about things. I could also help the lore team should they want my help or opinion for X or Y reason, and could even help other staff members refine custom event ideas that they might have. Aside from that, despite me always being a nice person, I do not let people walk over me. I will stand and hold my ground, and even be stern if it is required for a situation. Everyday I always strive to be a better person, student, son, etc. in order to improve in the future, and I even take up half an hour prior to going to sleep in order to reflect on my actions that day so that I may look to tomorrow. If there's any questions, just ask, and I will gladly provide an answer. I do hope that I will be given the honor of serving as a moderator for this server!

Aren't the personnel in that first image wearing ballistic masks which are for in the case you get shot in the face?
-
Really, not much that I'm suggesting, but there should definitely be clipboards in the office, and maybe some actual ties in the clothing locker. It'd save people their custom load out points when making an IAA character because then they could afford their own suit, dress/leather shoes, and whatever other 1 point item there is like a watch while at the same time the player being able to put their whole professional attire together with a different colored tie. The only counter argument I can see someone making against this is the fact that leather shoes and suits can be found in the locker room, but what about when someone has already taken those? Furthermore, IAAs should probably get an option to spawn with regular eyeglasses rather than prescription shades when they are visually impaired or just not have any shades at all. Regular shades just seem rather pointless for a desk job aside to fulfill rule of cool in my personal opinion.

I was an officer that round, I had been playing Rebecca Inn (the blue haired security officer). Allow me to respond to the complaint's points in the order they were presented from my point of view: 1) I honestly did not know your face was damaged since I never took a moment to examine you, mouse you over to see that you were unknown or interacted with you through a mechanic that would say Unknown (As Art Dilligence). I apologize for this because had I noticed, then I definitely would've asked the HoS to take you to the medical bay. 2) I did not know of what your charges were. I joined in after they had occurred, and all I was told to do was to update both you and Cirno's records to reflect the Assault charge. 3) Basically what Sue said about the trial. Jakob Drengr was in the wrong to not give you your headset, and when you actually did tell me (I was AFK for a big portion that you saw me at the desk because of wifi issues and studying for a midterm) about the headset I went in to give it back to you. As a side note, the IAA was SSD at that time, and hadn't returned for quite some time. 4) Already discussed. 5) Not really related to me... 6) I think it should be added that the silver coin you had, had a wire attached through it when I glanced over. Personally, I didn't know you could do that, and I'm not sure if one could remove the wire through wire cutters, but if it was, then I think it's kinda crappy to not have returned the coin. Also... It's just a cigar, man... I won't lie, it was kinda funny when he extinguished the cigar because it felt like a real slap to the face, and I think you could somewhat argue as it being destruction of your property despite seeming petty. As a conclusion, I know you probably tried RPing the pain when I was at the desk, and I'm deeply sorry that I hadn't noticed it or I would've acted upon it and what not by getting you to medical and ensuring you got surgery. Sorry if that was an issue on my part!
-
Side note: I /think/ the botanist's face was broken from hitting the glass. I think I remember seeing him as Unknown without a mask, but I do not recall properly. In the case that his face was broken (which could've been likely as I'm pretty sure that throwing people against reinforced windows can break bones [Drengr accidentally broke a dude's arm while arresting him because he threw him, and it was hilarious]), if it wasn't for the fact that this happened during crew transfer procedures, then the botanist would definitely have had to undergo surgery, and surgery is definitely a disruption to someone's round. Some surgeons shake awake their patients because they don't want to be a bigger disruption than they already are, and, really, what sort of surgeon shakes their patient until they wake up post-surgery? Not saying that I personally think surgeons doing that is bad because it shows that they're being considerate for their fellow players, since putting someone under the knife effectively takes you out for quite a bit.
-
Quick thingy. Delta. Okay, I get what you're saying. Totally. But the cursing and calling the botanist a ' stupid goon' isn't -really- cool. No offense or anything to you; I'm not your boss, but... He's actually an okay player. The botanist, from what I saw after the fight, was roleplaying just fine with pain emotes and such, had a flavour text, and was played by a long time member of our community. I can understand that you might be angry on how the CMO responded to this, but the anger should not only be directed to the CMO and not the botanist, but also should be delivered in the form of polite, but firm statements in order to have a civilized argument. (Also, sorry to the administrative staff if it wasn't my place to say this.) Now, I missed too much of this fight to include any of my main input on the matter. But I can agree to 1138's statement that Grey Ryan/Jackboot ran up to Nasir after the fight had finished and the situation was being handled well by the Captain (OneOneThreeEight) and flashed him once or twice, maybe even three times. This then sparked a bit of LOOC bickering, which turned to caps lock by one or two members of the argument, and then the fight was over pretty much once the transfer shuttle left. I was more pissed at how both of them handled it, not one or the other. However, the majority fault does lie with the acting CMO at the time. Not to be rude, but it seems like you didn't bat an eyelash at Jackboot's post. Probably because you're reaffirming your belief that it's the CMO's fault, while quoting Hive, but not seeming to mention anything of what Jackboot had just posted. For example, earlier you posted that you can't respect a person that flashes someone more than two times, didn't quote him, but Jackboot's previous post stated that FFrances said that his use of force was justified. Furthermore, one of the important parts of Jackboot's post, "... Nasir showed zero response to the other flashes. When my character is flashed, they tend to stop everything and focus on the giant blinding light that just exploded their eyeballs. Which is kind of the point of flashes." There is nothing but truth in a statement like that because that is quite literally "the point of flashes." Which in the end failed to get a response from Nasir. In conclusion, he also pointed out the fact that you played pseudo-security as well when you were leveling an energy pistol at a dude that's not only in pain crit, but also in the middle of having his face pieced back together by Greg Ryan in the hall.
-
Just in case, part of Jackboot's complaint is the fact that Nightmare, as an administrator, told Jackboot something over LOOC that could only be perceived as an insult. I don't believe the use of his abilities as an admin have been called out on, only his behavior as one for that one issue.
-
I made an edit to my previous post, just in case.
-
I do hope you meant thread instead of threat... I haven't offended you somehow, right? Some people perceive me saying this over the net as sarcasm, and I just don't want that thought on my head because I find it to be a burden in my mind. I guess I sorta just want to hear you say it so that my mind will be at ease. Aside from that, now we wait for FFrances and/or Skull to give their thoughts on the complaint, and possibly conclude it. EDIT: I also believe that the low blow comment to Jackboot is definitely not administrator behavior. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're a primary administrator, right? It might just be me, but I always thought that all staff should be polite and professional when handling other players in order to avoid a situation getting worse. The way it was said was perceived more as a personal attack than a form of criticism. Everyone enjoys constructive criticism. Being insulted? Not so much.
-
Nightmare, I very distinctly remember needing to push you down, strapping the dying man (whose face AND skull you broke) to a roller bed, and running away to Medical in fear of you attacking me for X or Y reason because I pushed you down. At this point you are flat out calling me a liar on things that I and other players have witnessed. The officers you issued death threats against at the abuse comms incident? Rebel 1254 and StupidGeekz. You said that you were going to claw their eyes out if they didn't leave the lady, who they had orders to arrest for abuse of comms, alone and left. Prior to the arrest, StupidGeekz (at that time playing Bruce Hachert) was attempting to warn the lady to stop abusing comms because he did not wish to arrest her, and Nasir got all huffy and puffy about this. I assume because he felt his friend was being unjustly accused, and I can understand this. I would also get huffy and puffy if somebody accused my friends of false things, but I wouldn't immediately start talking back that harsh to officers nor threaten to gouge their eyes out. If it helps, the night I had been discussing that with Yeah Chris was on August 7th, 2014, so this comms abuse incident must've happened either that night or the past few nights. I have no IC logs, only vivid memories because I do not forget things like this, and I do not enjoy lying. Furthermore, I definitely do not enjoy being called a liar because I wouldn't say something to bring you down without just reason. I have offered you my thoughts on Nasir's behavior. You can take it, or you can leave it. It won't bother me in the end because ultimately it is your character, and I will not be constantly fretting over your character. Please have a nice night and if you thought my language insulted you somehow, then please do notify me posthaste, and I will apologize for it as I am not here to offend anyone.
-
I said "potentially break bones", not definitely will break bones. I believe that with all of the bullets, stun batons, and tasers that you took, Nasir would've required ample time to recover as tasers and stun batons are made explicitly to take you down and keep you down. The incident on the holodeck literally lasted no more than five - eight minutes before they finally decided to cuff you (don't even know WHY they took that long as I had been playing a Cadet that round), and take you away; during which time you were resisting, yelling, and screaming at Security. Not that the screaming is bad I guess, but what I'm trying to get to is that you literally need to tone down Nasir's "badassery". I've seen you issue /death threats/ to Security personnel for attempting to arrest someone for something as petty as comms abuse (a three minute sentence if memory serves me, that's literally a slap on the wrist and a three minute break!). I remember this explicitly because I had been talking with Yeah Chris about that over Skype. I did not want to file a complaint because I think someone's name alone coming up in a complaint has to be humiliating or embarrassing to a certain degree, so I told Chris to please talk to you about this issue instead. I still have the log from the Skype chat where he described that night that one of the biggest problems on the server was the "tough as shit catpeople" on the server. The fact that he brought that issue up at that time while I was bringing up your out-of-the-blue death threats simply shows that, that behavior is an issue, and it still seems like one I think as I've seen you trying to claw people without stopping as I arrive to arrest you as an Officer or watch helplessly as a doctor. One time you kept trying to attack the guy when I tried pulling him away from you to heal him in the bar! Basically, all I'm saying is to tone down Nasir's "badass" levels because it just seems over-the-top and ridiculous.
